    My favourite ways to eat mangos and cucumber as well. Lime kicks it up a notch. That diagonal shift trick was pretty darn cool.

      TheASTrader Thanks. I cut melons that way as well. It's nicer than the traditional wedges. LIME MAKES ALL FRUIT BETTER. I LOVE it. It's one of my favorite flavors/flavor enhancers.

    This time of year people seem to overload on sweets, so I am SO thankful you made this video, because its simple, delicious and healthy for this weeks Christmas party.

      Beth DeRoos Thanks Beth. I have to say, sitting on the surf break eating guac and chips and bowls of fruit salad doesn't feel like Christmas to me. So this year I asked GP if he wanted me to bake up a batch of orange knots (Christmas Cookies made with fresh OJ) and he was a little indifferent. I might thaw out a lb of butter and make them up anyway. I always bake gifts for the holidays, so it's a wild change for me. I'm glad you enjoyed this diversion.

    papaya is awesome. Here on the border, we sprinkle a mixture of paprika and red chile powder on it to enhance the taste. It's also very good dehydrated with the red chile powder and lime salt. Thanks for sharing!

    Im from Mexico, this type of papaya is relatively recent in Mexico its calles maradol, hawayana or chiapas.. I first saw it on market in the late 80, aparently its more resistant to bruising and its sweeter... The ones we use to get are called Veracruz and they are much larger, larger than a large watermellon.. They have a Yellow and more firm pulp not as sweet and had a not too pleasant odour but still tasted great, and where more helpfull for digestion. One can only find them now down south.

    I wish I could find papaya that you didn't have to wait til it got all moldy on the outside before it was ripe enough to eat and even then sometimes the papaya never seems to get sweet enough. That one you cut up looked so yummy. The ones we have here seem to be from mexico, cuz they are big but they do lack the ripeness unless they get all moldy and shriveled. It looks bad but they still seem to be sweeter that way.

    • @Thefreshp
      @Thefreshp  7 років тому +1

      +Linda Foote yes. Right now, the Mexican ones are really good. It seems to be somewhat a gamble, but the last three Ive bought have been sooo good. I have much better luck with the organic ones from Hawaii, they're more costly, but you have a better chance at a delicious one. Non organic HI papayas are all GMO, so if you're concerned about that, stick with the Organics.

    Ohhh my. I do same thing. But I sprinkle a few powders on it some times as well. Yum yum. Super sugary. I love it mixed with tart. And chili powder. On top. Or many other things. But I always add mango with. But I like unripe mango lol. A little on the firm side. It's less sugary that way but I like it. One love b

      Because many fruit seeds do contain chemicals that are toxic to humans. It's the seeds way of protecting it's self. Apple seeds contain cyanide, but I eat them anyway. I love the sweet almond taste of them and in low dosage they are fine.

      firegator4351 Hi Firegator. I've begun using affiliate links below my videos for the things I use and/or useful items. I get a small percentage from Amazon for doing so, but it doesn't cost you any more. I always check Amazon for the best price/quality so you know you're getting the right item. The link is below the video.
      I love them so much that I have one int he camper and one in the house. I've found the cheep Mexican model is far superior to the fancy kitchen store models...and don't go plastic, those flex too much and are worthless. Merry Christmas.

    Have you ever juiced one? My wife and I had some fresh papaya juice in Hawaii and it was great. Can't find anything like it here in MS, and bottled juice is nowhere near as good.

    • @Thefreshp
      @Thefreshp  9 років тому

      I don't juice it, but I make a blended papaya lime water/smoothy of sorts. It has the consistency of a nectar, looser than a smoothy. You just blend papaya, lime juice, a little honey or coconut sugar and ice/water.

    thanks for the upload! for some reason when I bought mines from the store the other day (not sure if it was a Mexican Papaya, but it was about that size, was a green and yellow color, the inside was orange, the black seeds of course), I cut it, and it had a putrid odor and taste to it. I was so disgusted I just threw the whole thing away. then someone told me that the lime juice is what tones down that taste and smell. is that true?

    • @Thefreshp
      @Thefreshp  8 років тому +1

      Yes. But I wouldn't call it putrid, maybe you got a bad one. They are 'musky' and the Mexican ones are the strongest. They are best fresh from the tree, or try the strawberry papayas from HI, buy organic otherwise they are GMO, they are mellower. Lime is key. And it's a bit of an acquired taste like melons are.
