Rogue is actually based off the true events of a giant, male saltwater crocodile named Sweetheart who attacked boats in the late 70s. Although Sweetheart was never known to attack humans, it's scary to know how things would play out had you come in contact with him when in the water.
It's also based on a story of 3 boys who went to the Finnis River to get clean after splashing each other with mud all day, getting swept away by the current, noticing something in the water, 2 of them getting up high on a mangrove tree, with the third being face down unmoving in the jaws of a crocodile before it disappeared, and the boys having to stay awake to prevent falling in the water and getting eaten, while the crocodile repeatedly shows up sitting at the bottom. The UA-camr Mr. Ballen goes way more in depth with the story and gives more detail so make sure to check him out if you like the strange, dark and mysterious delivered in story format.

As a Australian, this movie still holds up in the top 3 scariest films, just for the simple fact of how real it is and can be. No monsters,aliens,ghosts, killers etc, just a wild animal living. It's not talked abt a lot but there are crocs up in the Northern Territory that grow to 10x the normal size due to them being isolated from the rest of the world without humans intervening with nature
Yep much as I love to reassure people Australia isn't that dangerous . . . . its just a little tricky if they know about things like the Jellyfish and Cassowarie's or the fact our Army has managed to genuiniely lose a war against the wildlife.
To be fair that clip is of a Cuban crocodile a fairly small croc. A crocodile of this size wouldn't be able to gallop, it could run a little bit but the bigger the crocodile the slower they are, especially on land. It's actually a problem huge crocs face and why you don't see as many giants out there, if they get too slow the majority of their prey would outrun them and they have to turn to bigger/slower prey, including humans.

@@stingerjohnny9951 from what I know they do die from old age but they don’t stop growing till their dead. Crocodiles can live for a very long time if every thing is right (food, few predators, environment etc) they can live up to 100 years.
If it’s leg sized that’s the issue why not a big croc- but very long legs; like a house centipede? Maybe multiple legs since it’s a super croc ^^ centi-croc
Time to go nerdy here. In prehistoric times way before homonids evolved there were big land crocs. They could get the size of real large crocs of today. They had different sized legs though which allowed them to run quite fast. PBS Eons channel has video about them.
The dog that played Kevin, if I remember correctly, wasn't a fully trained movie animal, just a trained dog. Yes there is a difference, as the dog wasn't trained to be on movie sets, hence why you can't seem to find anything about the dog.
@@Alteori Sorry, can't help you there. But most of the time they are. The film industry does have to be sure an animal that is killed in a movie, if not cg or other animation, is okay and alive. Considering that the movie was released, I'd say yes, he is okay.
@@ronpark5195 No, it's fairly common for that to happen, plenty of movies all around the world must have a certain registration for animal actors, trained, or "wild". This has been done since 1992, and the fines, legal fees, and prison time, can really stack up.

However depression is different in everyone and for many people it’s having negative thoughts whilst having the awareness that you’re having those negative thoughts, having to keep retelling yourself what’s true, for those people who have conscious awareness of those thoughts whilst they’re happening suicide prevention hotlines are incredibly helpful and save many lives. Thank you for answering my question that does help. I know a lot of many people who knew there was help out there and people tried to help them and they still took their lives. I guess it's better than nothing. After all you can't really make someone want to live unless they want to save themselves.
@@mathewpoole3589 that's the point. The people answering those calls aren't there to solve your problems. They're taking the call to talk to you, and, if you want that, point you towards actual help. Talking helps. That's the suicide Hotline. Talking with professionals may lead to a solution. A hotline is not a replacement for therapy, it's just people trying to be there for you in a crisis.
If you think this movie was gruesome, you need to check out the African cousin. Primeval. Rogue and Primeval are the best monster croc movies ever made.
Honestly, Alteori, I love the way you normally say "wotah." Also, if you want a monster movie without cute animals to die, Deep Rising. If you want a monster movie where the cute animal turns into a horrific monstrosity, John Carpenter's The Thing (the prequel that came out recently was decent, but not as good IMO) And if you want a movie with a cute(ish) woman that turns out to *be* a monster, Step Monster.
I've called a support line before. They mostly just keep you engaged in pleasant, friendly conversation while intermittently asking you if you're thinking about harming yourself. Sometimes life is tough and you just need someone you feel safe in unloading your problems on.
I've heard of that and I've told my mom to call into one for her depression. My mom had mentioned she wanted to die but she wasn't actually suicidal at least those were her words. She just needed somebody to talk to, but I remember when my mom had done something to me a long time ago and I was in the house alone I was hurting so badly as a kid and the pain was so overwhelming that I took a knife and tried to cut myself. I didn't do it right and I did it across then when I caught myself because of how hard it was to cut through my wrists I dropped the knife and started crying. In that moment I really felt like I wanted to kill myself and the last thing I was thinking was that I should call a hotline and I knew that there were services out there like that. In that moment I just wanted the pain to end and could not think of anything else. I didn't feel suicidal before that point Just in that moment because my mom did so horrible to hurt me that the pain was just immediate but it had been piling on me from staying in that household with her. That was basically the straw that broke the camel's back and I just went for it. Very weird that because of the adrenaline I did not even feel the knife as I was trying to saw through my wrist. I was kind of manic. I was still in my early teens and nobody was home and she had left to go discard my animals which is what drove me over the edge because it's the only thing that I had to hold on to that I loved the most in that house. Had I gone through with it in that moment and done it correctly when I was really trying to take my life I wouldn't be here today. I haven't had those thoughts since and I redirected them to getting out of that house. The point is, it's really awesome that there are these services available to people who might be going down that road to help prevent them, but I can tell you from experience that when you're actually suicidal and in that mental state at that moment you feel it, all the hotlines in the world don't mean jack.
@@Alteori Oh wow, that's pretty gut-wrenching! It's obvious that you feel a really deep connection with animals, and that sounds like a scene straight out of a horror movie. When I was a child, my parents threatened to sell off my beloved parakeet because I still owed some money to pay off his cage, and just the threat was really upsetting. Lol, I think that was around the time I began saving my money really obsessively, because I never wanted to be strapped for cash again! The best phrase I've ever heard regarding suicide is that it's a permanent solution to a temporary problem. My favorite scene in Cast Away is when Tom Hanks is talking at the end of the movie about how he had become so utterly discouraged with being marooned on his island that he decided to hang himself, but the rope he had made wasn't strong enough to support his weight so he knew he wouldn't even be able to hang himself properly. And from that point on, he decided to "just keep breathing" one day at a time, until the tide brought him something to build his raft with. You need to remember the best times in your life, because it gives you faith that the hard times will pass and the "new best times" that are around the corner will make it all worthwhile.

I would not have met the love of my life (who coincidentally had a mom that drove him to want to commit suicide too) and I would not have met my dogs. In the end, my mother did not win and I am still here. I told myself after, nobody is worth throwing your life away for unless you choose to do so to save someone who is worth it.

13:33, I can relate to that a lot when I lost the last of my childhood pets, my cats. After my family and I had them put down I cried and kept saying my babies then went home and threw up a little blood. Loss of a close pet is a very painful experience. 2:42 I'm not an expert but I'll put my two cents. I believe the whole point of the hotline is help people steer away of those thoughts at the early stages. They get calls from alot of people in different walks of life.... I have to admit, it's gets depression to hear their story, their call for help. While it's not a solution to the problem. It's a step in the right direction. Just having a human being not just hearing you but seeing that you matter. Not pity but empathy. I'm sure there's a bunch of websites where you can learn more and if that is what you wish.
In many cases, people that are at that point in their life aren't 100% on board with it and are looking for anything to grasp onto. Sometimes, just having a complete stranger listen to your problems can go a long way; don't even have to worry about what you tell having any ties to you because of the anonymity.
@@Shadednecros yeah, part of why people don't tell their loved ones, is that they dear what they'll think if them. That they might be ashamed, or worse, tell them to get over it. It's kinda like how you could tell someone you know this is the only time you'll talk something you couldn't even tell your mom. It's the lack of long term perceived consequences.
@@archermon373 Oftentimes, it's due to lack of foresight on the family member's part. It's not a pleasant feeling when you're close to that edge and you reach out to a family member for help, only for them to not take you seriously; or worse, outright act aggressively because they think think you're just wanting attention. Such reactions only serve to push the individual closer to the edge, and if they survive, can cause reluctance to seek help in the future.
It isn’t always that people are worried that the family or friends they reach out to will react negatively. It can also be them not wanting to burden their already overstressed parents, or not wanting to upset somebody with the news that they ain’t doing too good.
@@oliveryarrow4380 That's kind of a given, we were talking specific kinds of scenarios and there's a long list of possible reasons. Each situation is different and can envelop a number of different reasons.

Check about the British TV show Primeval. Has dinosaurs, other prehistoric beasts, AND CREATURES FROM THE FUTURE that wind up in modern day Britain. Those Future Predators in it are like the Death Angels from A Quiet Place in appearance. Only difference, it's apparently evolved from modern bats.
Ha I saw this post and immediately thought, "Oh no poor Alteori" because of Kevin. But yeah this movie is an underrated gem with some amazing visual effects. Definitely one of, if not the best, killer Crocodile movie. Oh, also what's interesting is if you check out the behind the scenes features that area had never been filmed before as it was sacred to the Aboriginals. They got special access to shoot there and another fun fact: They legit had to relocate a large Crocodile from the area they were filming. Also also, the Director was the first into the water because he wasn't going to put his actors into any danger he wasn't willing to put himself into.
Talk about Deja Vu, I saw this movie two nights ago and followed it up with Razorback, both are good but I personally enjoyed Razorback more as it felt like a refreshing take on the genre. If you haven't seen Razorback, I definitely recommend checking it out
I love this movie. The effects were good and in fact they built a few giant animatronic crocodiles for the film and they look gorgeous. You can find video of them on YT.
Audience when human dies: Oh nooo... anyway Audience when dog dies: This is literally the worst thing to ever happen to me. I never understood that way of thinking. I've had plenty of dogs in my lifetime and I've loved them all more than I can express. And it is definitely sad whenever a dog dies in a movie or show or whatever. But come on, why do people need a website to know whether or not the dog ends up dying, it really isn't THAT disturbing. Anyway aside from that, this is probably my favourite monster movie. As an Australian we don't usually get much inclusion in modern media and when we do it's incredibly stereotypical and offensive. This movie doesn't get enough recognition because it's genuinely very good and the characters are all well written and very well acted. Thanks for revewing it and exposing it to a broader audience.
I have this film. Got it from Walmart. I really enjoyed it. Watched it multiple times. I also watched the commentary and behind the scenes. There's so much to say. The people were legit on edge because of the real cross shown. The helicopter flying around for the air shots spooked them a fee times. The scene in the quarry, the workers quadruple checked that there were not crocs in the area when neil fell into the water, only to find out one was found a couple miles from there. The the island scenes, the croc was cgi, but they used a diver when it grabbed the dad under water. Even though they made the croc look massive, it's not unusual to see a croc reach comparable lengths. In the den. They mixed cgi with animatronic for the croc, which is why the hand ripping scene looked good. It was a well made film. It was the same director and writers as a film called wolf creek. I saw wolf creek 2 I believe, and that was a gory film. Kinda like the hostile films. The old guy with the ashes in this film was also in the wolf creek films.
As for the thing at the beginning with the suicide helplines bit. Being someone who has and still does suffer from depression for too long (taking medication now) the hotlines do help, in some regard. There have been times in the past that I've just wanted to end it all and if not for either my friends or Beyond Blue (an organization in Australia ) I likely wouldn't be here. So they do help but it's not a fix all, if it was.. well that speaks for itself I guess. Love the in depth reviews by the way. =)
I genuinely both hope and wish you the best because I too suffer from depression, amoung other things, and (most) people just don't understand how hard it is to deal with let alone live with. People tend to mistake someone suffering from depression as just being in a bad/sad mood and tend to say "oh just put on a smile and feel better" not realizing how hard it is to overcome. Not here to vent or complain, just can whole heartedly relate to your comment.
I agree with getting furious over the woman that insisted on going first refusing to move. Ive seen other people comment stuff like "her husband just died" or "shes scared, give her a break". Its like if you were in the other survivors positions, you would not be sympathetic. You be scared, pissed, frustrated, and in survival mode. XD
I can relate to your reaction whenever you see a dog in a movie, as someone who has 4 rescues (boxer Cross and 3 EBT) i always want to know the fate of the dog and care more for the dogs welfare than any of the actors 🤣🤣 *Kevin* was the hero of the film!!

Check out a 2008 Australian movie called Black Water, you won’t regret it. Also look up the crocodile it was based on called “Sweetheart”. He was a 17 foot crocodile in 77-79 that attacked people’s boats and boat motors, but never actually killed anyone. But some people got stranded because he chewed up the boat motors. And actually both gators and crocs run at similar speeds of 11-mph, but I think some crocs can accelerate faster. Also, some large American/Nile crocs may run up to 20 mph, which are slimmer in shape. However, salt-waters are almost as stocky as gators with somewhat broader snouts that lead some to wonder if they were actually gators. Even though the mugger croc has a broader snout.
Not gonna lie, when I first watched Black Water as a teen, I thought I was going into a B-Rated monster movie. Instead I went into a very realistic horror drama. Legit, I don't think that movie gets enough credit. Like Surf got praised even though it's shark had very unrealistic behavior but Black Water was not only realistic, it played well off suspense.
I don't think I've watched the first one, but I've watched the new (ish) sequel that takes place in a cave, it was alright but you only really see the crocodiles at the end when they crash into the crocodile lake
I know that what happened to Kevin the dog was sad, but at least he went out as a hero trying to protect the ones he loves and at least this is way better then him being bait.
Primeval scared the shit out of me when I was a kid because it was the first time I saw a giant croc literally chase after someone! Also pretty brutal scenes.
@@mastergamerleafer Oof yeah as someone who knows both what the OP and you are talking about, those are two different 'Primeval's lol One is a pretty decent movie about a giant croc in Africa based off Gustave, a legit giant man eating croc And the one you're thinking of is a pretty good show about time space anomalies causing creatures from the past, future, and alternate timelines to appear in modern day, with an entire organization built for finding the anomalies and creatures to stop them from hurting the public and also to find a way to predict and eventually stop the anomalies Tbh kinda sad the Primeval show didn't get more seasons

This movie is definitely underrated. One of the things I love about it is that it knows not to bombard with a bunch of sound effects or ADR screams. Whoever directed this movie they are very aware that the most horrifying things that happen in nature can happen without a sound
The scary thing is that monstrous crocodilians like this used to exist millions of years ago. Purussaurus, Sarchosuchus etc. Would've been amazing to see in person.

Suicide hotlines are a critical service for suicide ideation. Often times these people will feel utterly hopeless and see no way out - but a part of themselves deep inside is looking for a reason to hope again. That's why isolation for someone who is struggling is so dangerous; Isolation for someone going through suicide ideation can drive people to suicide but talking to someone can help them find some hope again. Many people end up calling these hotline because at that point you might as well - there isn't much left to lose. A professional can prob explain this better but hope this made sense. Writing this makes me sad remembering that suicide is often a choice people make they feel like they have no choice... :'(
I saw this Movie a few months ago, pretty good Animal Horror Movie. I also recommend this similar Aussie Giant Killer Crocodile Movie from the late 80's called Dark Age (weird name I know) starring John Jarrat of Wolf Creek fame (I meet the guy at a geek convention a few years ago, he's a pretty chill dude), it's not full on horror like Rogue (it's more of an adventure/rescue movie) but it's still pretty good and worth a watch. :)

I must tell you, there are 3 things you can do when you’re scared. Freeze(what some people do instinctively and what I think the women was doing) and the common fight or flight. I understand what you mean, but I thought that nugget of info might give you context.
19:35 I rather be 20 feet in the air idk about saltwater crocodiles but freshwater crocodile can jump out of the water they hunt bats at times. Even if saltwater crocodile can't jump at high they are only like 6 feet above the water I pretty sure the crocodile won't have any trouble getting to them
Crocodiles have that burst of speed, but as is typical for reptiles they've got like no endurance. They also cannot change directions quickly. When running from a crocodile one has to make sharp turns. The croc probably won't bother chasing you down if it doesn't get you on first try, so provided (!) you see it coming, outrunning a crocodile is fairly easy.

The part where Longmire (Everett) got snatched without screaming is, scarily enough, accurate. In a book written by Steve and Terri Irwin, Steve wrote a chapter about Acco, a giant, aggressive crocodile he caught who had become a local legend in the areas he hunted. Steve had several encounters with him before he finally managed to catch him. In one of the first, Steve was chasing wild pigs with his dog Chilli when the hogs escaped into the river. Steve's immediate concern was to grab Chilli to keep her safe, then he watched as the pigs swam across to the opposite bank and began climbing up. The last one had just gotten its forelimbs up when it simply slid backward and disappeared under the water. No squeals, no struggles, nothing, and the crocodile didn't even show itself. The other razorbacks didn't even notice that their herdmate was gone. Steve knew that the other pigs would likely not associate the spot in the river with danger because they didn't notice, giving Acco future prey opportunities.
I’ve called the NSPL. It’s… it’s not always cut and dry when you’re feeling that way. For me personally, I called them because I was seriously thinking of doing it, and that scared me. I wanted SOMEONE to talk me down, to help me get through that moment so that I could tell my family and get some help.

@@drake598gaming Was based off Sweetheart, he hated boats, for an actual good reason as he’d been injured by outboard motors and then learned to hate and attack them. It got to the point where he’d even attack the motor of a boat even when there were people flailing in the water.
@@choekyigyaltsen7579 There's a lot of scary criters that people think are extinct. Genereally I believe in accepted logic but somtimes at 2 am when the front door decides to close itself (has to be some pressure differential if its not shut properly as it'll sit like that for hours then decide to finally shut properly) and winds blowing outside. I look at the dark apartment and think about how small some of those things were and remember the cat species that had been living next to people in a city for generations with no one noticing and all the wild empty places of the world and I wonder are they really gone?
The croc animatronic, which is a true masterpiece in and of itself, was featured in another photo on the shop wall of the dead animal being dragged out of its log burrow. The cgi was great, but the animatronic saltie was phenomenal.
I watched this movie with my 4 year old cousin and he was terrified 😌... it's amazing, the crocodile doesn't look as great as other movies with high budget but DANG... it's worth it.

Rogue is actually based off the true events of a giant, male saltwater crocodile named Sweetheart who attacked boats in the late 70s. Although Sweetheart was never known to attack humans, it's scary to know how things would play out had you come in contact with him when in the water.
It's also based on a story of 3 boys who went to the Finnis River to get clean after splashing each other with mud all day, getting swept away by the current, noticing something in the water, 2 of them getting up high on a mangrove tree, with the third being face down unmoving in the jaws of a crocodile before it disappeared, and the boys having to stay awake to prevent falling in the water and getting eaten, while the crocodile repeatedly shows up sitting at the bottom. The UA-camr Mr. Ballen goes way more in depth with the story and gives more detail so make sure to check him out if you like the strange, dark and mysterious delivered in story format.

As a Australian, this movie still holds up in the top 3 scariest films, just for the simple fact of how real it is and can be.
No monsters,aliens,ghosts, killers etc, just a wild animal living. It's not talked abt a lot but there are crocs up in the Northern Territory that grow to 10x the normal size due to them being isolated from the rest of the world without humans intervening with nature

To be fair that clip is of a Cuban crocodile a fairly small croc. A crocodile of this size wouldn't be able to gallop, it could run a little bit but the bigger the crocodile the slower they are, especially on land. It's actually a problem huge crocs face and why you don't see as many giants out there, if they get too slow the majority of their prey would outrun them and they have to turn to bigger/slower prey, including humans.

Quick question, since crocodilians never stop growing, and the larger ones are almost exclusively aquatic so they don’t need to worry about weight, do crocodiles not die of old age, but rather of starvation when they run out of food big enough for them?
@@stingerjohnny9951 from what I know they do die from old age but they don’t stop growing till their dead. Crocodiles can live for a very long time if every thing is right (food, few predators, environment etc) they can live up to 100 years.

Time to go nerdy here. In prehistoric times way before homonids evolved there were big land crocs. They could get the size of real large crocs of today. They had different sized legs though which allowed them to run quite fast. PBS Eons channel has video about them.

The dog that played Kevin, if I remember correctly, wasn't a fully trained movie animal, just a trained dog. Yes there is a difference, as the dog wasn't trained to be on movie sets, hence why you can't seem to find anything about the dog.

@@ronpark5195 No, it's fairly common for that to happen, plenty of movies all around the world must have a certain registration for animal actors, trained, or "wild". This has been done since 1992, and the fines, legal fees, and prison time, can really stack up.

It’s a complex one and you’re totally right there are many times where it doesn’t. However depression is different in everyone and for many people it’s having negative thoughts whilst having the awareness that you’re having those negative thoughts, having to keep retelling yourself what’s true, for those people who have conscious awareness of those thoughts whilst they’re happening suicide prevention hotlines are incredibly helpful and save many lives.

Thank you for answering my question that does help. I know a lot of many people who knew there was help out there and people tried to help them and they still took their lives. I guess it's better than nothing. After all you can't really make someone want to live unless they want to save themselves.
But the hotlines don't give out any tips at all, so yeah they don't work. They prevent more suicides then they actually help anyone to carry out.
Actually it's stopped me a few times. Sometimes it's just knowing someone would care, or that someone tried to be there for you.
I called them many times, no one picked up :)

I've called a support line before. They mostly just keep you engaged in pleasant, friendly conversation while intermittently asking you if you're thinking about harming yourself.
Sometimes life is tough and you just need someone you feel safe in unloading your problems on.
I've heard of that and I've told my mom to call into one for her depression. My mom had mentioned she wanted to die but she wasn't actually suicidal at least those were her words. She just needed somebody to talk to, but I remember when my mom had done something to me a long time ago and I was in the house alone I was hurting so badly as a kid and the pain was so overwhelming that I took a knife and tried to cut myself. I didn't do it right and I did it across then when I caught myself because of how hard it was to cut through my wrists I dropped the knife and started crying.
In that moment I really felt like I wanted to kill myself and the last thing I was thinking was that I should call a hotline and I knew that there were services out there like that.
In that moment I just wanted the pain to end and could not think of anything else. I didn't feel suicidal before that point Just in that moment because my mom did so horrible to hurt me that the pain was just immediate but it had been piling on me from staying in that household with her.
That was basically the straw that broke the camel's back and I just went for it. Very weird that because of the adrenaline I did not even feel the knife as I was trying to saw through my wrist. I was kind of manic. I was still in my early teens and nobody was home and she had left to go discard my animals which is what drove me over the edge because it's the only thing that I had to hold on to that I loved the most in that house.
Had I gone through with it in that moment and done it correctly when I was really trying to take my life I wouldn't be here today. I haven't had those thoughts since and I redirected them to getting out of that house.
The point is, it's really awesome that there are these services available to people who might be going down that road to help prevent them, but I can tell you from experience that when you're actually suicidal and in that mental state at that moment you feel it, all the hotlines in the world don't mean jack.

When I was a child, my parents threatened to sell off my beloved parakeet because I still owed some money to pay off his cage, and just the threat was really upsetting. Lol, I think that was around the time I began saving my money really obsessively, because I never wanted to be strapped for cash again!
The best phrase I've ever heard regarding suicide is that it's a permanent solution to a temporary problem. My favorite scene in Cast Away is when Tom Hanks is talking at the end of the movie about how he had become so utterly discouraged with being marooned on his island that he decided to hang himself, but the rope he had made wasn't strong enough to support his weight so he knew he wouldn't even be able to hang himself properly. And from that point on, he decided to "just keep breathing" one day at a time, until the tide brought him something to build his raft with.
You need to remember the best times in your life, because it gives you faith that the hard times will pass and the "new best times" that are around the corner will make it all worthwhile.

I would not have met the love of my life (who coincidentally had a mom that drove him to want to commit suicide too) and I would not have met my dogs. In the end, my mother did not win and I am still here. I told myself after, nobody is worth throwing your life away for unless you choose to do so to save someone who is worth it.

After my family and I had them put down I cried and kept saying my babies then went home and threw up a little blood. Loss of a close pet is a very painful experience. I believe the whole point of the hotline is help people steer away of those thoughts at the early stages.
They get calls from alot of people in different walks of life.... I have to admit, it's gets depression to hear their story, their call for help.
While it's not a solution to the problem. It's a step in the right direction. Just having a human being not just hearing you but seeing that you matter. Not pity but empathy. I'm sure there's a bunch of websites where you can learn more and if that is what you wish.
In many cases, people that are at that point in their life aren't 100% on board with it and are looking for anything to grasp onto. Sometimes, just having a complete stranger listen to your problems can go a long way; don't even have to worry about what you tell having any ties to you because of the anonymity.
@@Shadednecros yeah, part of why people don't tell their loved ones, is that they dear what they'll think if them. That they might be ashamed, or worse, tell them to get over it. It's kinda like how you could tell someone you know this is the only time you'll talk something you couldn't even tell your mom. It's the lack of long term perceived consequences.

It's not a pleasant feeling when you're close to that edge and you reach out to a family member for help, only for them to not take you seriously; or worse, outright act aggressively because they think think you're just wanting attention. Such reactions only serve to push the individual closer to the edge, and if they survive, can cause reluctance to seek help in the future.
It isn’t always that people are worried that the family or friends they reach out to will react negatively. It can also be them not wanting to burden their already overstressed parents, or not wanting to upset somebody with the news that they ain’t doing too good.

Check about the British TV show Primeval. Has dinosaurs, other prehistoric beasts, AND CREATURES FROM THE FUTURE that wind up in modern day Britain. Those Future Predators in it are like the Death Angels from A Quiet Place in appearance. Only difference, it's apparently evolved from modern bats.

Ha I saw this post and immediately thought, "Oh no poor Alteori" because of Kevin. But yeah this movie is an underrated gem with some amazing visual effects. Definitely one of, if not the best, killer Crocodile movie.
Oh, also what's interesting is if you check out the behind the scenes features that area had never been filmed before as it was sacred to the Aboriginals. They got special access to shoot there and another fun fact: They legit had to relocate a large Crocodile from the area they were filming. Also also, the Director was the first into the water because he wasn't going to put his actors into any danger he wasn't willing to put himself into.

Very possible. Larger crocs only move fast in short bursts, they rely on timing and ambush on successful hunts. They just aren't build for chase

This is literally the worst thing to ever happen to me.
I never understood that way of thinking. I've had plenty of dogs in my lifetime and I've loved them all more than I can express. And it is definitely sad whenever a dog dies in a movie or show or whatever. But come on, why do people need a website to know whether or not the dog ends up dying, it really isn't THAT disturbing.
Anyway aside from that, this is probably my favourite monster movie. As an Australian we don't usually get much inclusion in modern media and when we do it's incredibly stereotypical and offensive. This movie doesn't get enough recognition because it's genuinely very good and the characters are all well written and very well acted. Thanks for revewing it and exposing it to a broader audience.

I have this film. Got it from Walmart. I really enjoyed it. Watched it multiple times.
I also watched the commentary and behind the scenes.
There's so much to say.
The people were legit on edge because of the real cross shown. The helicopter flying around for the air shots spooked them a fee times. The scene in the quarry, the workers quadruple checked that there were not crocs in the area when neil fell into the water, only to find out one was found a couple miles from there.
The the island scenes, the croc was cgi, but they used a diver when it grabbed the dad under water. Even though they made the croc look massive, it's not unusual to see a croc reach comparable lengths. In the den. They mixed cgi with animatronic for the croc, which is why the hand ripping scene looked good. It was a well made film. It was the same director and writers as a film called wolf creek. I saw wolf creek 2 I believe, and that was a gory film. Kinda like the hostile films.
The old guy with the ashes in this film was also in the wolf creek films.

As for the thing at the beginning with the suicide helplines bit. Being someone who has and still does suffer from depression for too long (taking medication now) the hotlines do help, in some regard. There have been times in the past that I've just wanted to end it all and if not for either my friends or Beyond Blue (an organization in Australia ) I likely wouldn't be here. So they do help but it's not a fix all, if it was.. well that speaks for itself I guess. Love the in depth reviews by the way. =)
I genuinely both hope and wish you the best because I too suffer from depression, amoung other things, and (most) people just don't understand how hard it is to deal with let alone live with. People tend to mistake someone suffering from depression as just being in a bad/sad mood and tend to say "oh just put on a smile and feel better" not realizing how hard it is to overcome.

Check out a 2008 Australian movie called Black Water, you won’t regret it. Also look up the crocodile it was based on called “Sweetheart”. He was a 17 foot crocodile in 77-79 that attacked people’s boats and boat motors, but never actually killed anyone. But some people got stranded because he chewed up the boat motors. And actually both gators and crocs run at similar speeds of 11-mph, but I think some crocs can accelerate faster. Also, some large American/Nile crocs may run up to 20 mph, which are slimmer in shape. However, salt-waters are almost as stocky as gators with somewhat broader snouts that lead some to wonder if they were actually gators. Even though the mugger croc has a broader snout.
Not gonna lie, when I first watched Black Water as a teen, I thought I was going into a B-Rated monster movie. Instead I went into a very realistic horror drama. Legit, I don't think that movie gets enough credit. Like Surf got praised even though it's shark had very unrealistic behavior but Black Water was not only realistic, it played well off suspense.
I don't think I've watched the first one, but I've watched the new (ish) sequel that takes place in a cave, it was alright but you only really see the crocodiles at the end when they crash into the crocodile lake
I know that what happened to Kevin the dog was sad, but at least he went out as a hero trying to protect the ones he loves and at least this is way better then him being bait.
Primeval scared the shit out of me when I was a kid because it was the first time I saw a giant croc literally chase after someone! Also pretty brutal scenes.

And the one you're thinking of is a pretty good show about time space anomalies causing creatures from the past, future, and alternate timelines to appear in modern day, with an entire organization built for finding the anomalies and creatures to stop them from hurting the public and also to find a way to predict and eventually stop the anomalies

This movie is definitely underrated. One of the things I love about it is that it knows not to bombard with a bunch of sound effects or ADR screams. Whoever directed this movie they are very aware that the most horrifying things that happen in nature can happen without a sound

I think part of what helped the actors was they built a full sized animatronic for both water and land scenes but yea the acting was incredible

Suicide hotlines are a critical service for suicide ideation. Often times these people will feel utterly hopeless and see no way out - but a part of themselves deep inside is looking for a reason to hope again. That's why isolation for someone who is struggling is so dangerous; Isolation for someone going through suicide ideation can drive people to suicide but talking to someone can help them find some hope again. Many people end up calling these hotline because at that point you might as well - there isn't much left to lose. A professional can prob explain this better but hope this made sense.
Writing this makes me sad remembering that suicide is often a choice people make they feel like they have no choice... :'(

I saw this Movie a few months ago, pretty good Animal Horror Movie.
I also recommend this similar Aussie Giant Killer Crocodile Movie from the late 80's called Dark Age (weird name I know) starring John Jarrat of Wolf Creek fame (I meet the guy at a geek convention a few years ago, he's a pretty chill dude), it's not full on horror like Rogue (it's more of an adventure/rescue movie) but it's still pretty good and worth a watch. :)

It’s funny how salt water crocs can get to 8 meters but none that big exist because they were all killed of by farmers but some are close at 6 metres

19:35 I rather be 20 feet in the air idk about saltwater crocodiles but freshwater crocodile can jump out of the water they hunt bats at times. Even if saltwater crocodile can't jump at high they are only like 6 feet above the water I pretty sure the crocodile won't have any trouble getting to them
Crocodiles have that burst of speed, but as is typical for reptiles they've got like no endurance. They also cannot change directions quickly. When running from a crocodile one has to make sharp turns. The croc probably won't bother chasing you down if it doesn't get you on first try, so provided (!) you see it coming, outrunning a crocodile is fairly easy.
Both this and Primeval were awesome little monster movies. Crawl had potential, but they tried too hard.
I was looking forward to Crawl but boy did that movie suck major balls 😂

The part where Longmire (Everett) got snatched without screaming is, scarily enough, accurate. In a book written by Steve and Terri Irwin, Steve wrote a chapter about Acco, a giant, aggressive crocodile he caught who had become a local legend in the areas he hunted. Steve had several encounters with him before he finally managed to catch him. In one of the first, Steve was chasing wild pigs with his dog Chilli when the hogs escaped into the river. Steve's immediate concern was to grab Chilli to keep her safe, then he watched as the pigs swam across to the opposite bank and began climbing up. The last one had just gotten its forelimbs up when it simply slid backward and disappeared under the water. No squeals, no struggles, nothing, and the crocodile didn't even show itself. The other razorbacks didn't even notice that their herdmate was gone. Steve knew that the other pigs would likely not associate the spot in the river with danger because they didn't notice, giving Acco future prey opportunities.
It might have just been out of breath after the exercise and couldn't summon a noise.

I wanted SOMEONE to talk me down, to help me get through that moment so that I could tell my family and get some help.

First of all this is one of my favorite animals the saltwater crocodile And wow so sorry bout the dog I know how it feels my dog got cancer and lived a short happy life until the pain was to much had to put him down

Was based off Sweetheart, he hated boats, for an actual good reason as he’d been injured by outboard motors and then learned to hate and attack them. It got to the point where he’d even attack the motor of a boat even when there were people flailing in the water.

@@choekyigyaltsen7579 There's a lot of scary criters that people think are extinct. Genereally I believe in accepted logic but somtimes at 2 am when the front door decides to close itself (has to be some pressure differential if its not shut properly as it'll sit like that for hours then decide to finally shut properly) and winds blowing outside. I look at the dark apartment and think about how small some of those things were and remember the cat species that had been living next to people in a city for generations with no one noticing and all the wild empty places of the world and I wonder are they really gone?
The croc animatronic, which is a true masterpiece in and of itself, was featured in another photo on the shop wall of the dead animal being dragged out of its log burrow. The cgi was great, but the animatronic saltie was phenomenal.
I watched this movie with my 4 year old cousin and he was terrified 😌... it's amazing, the crocodile doesn't look as great as other movies with high budget but DANG... it's worth it.
