I think so far it is the best single handed backhand in my opinion. RF backhand is beautiful but Stan backhand is more lethal. He can manage to overcome Rafa topspin while mostly RF struggle to handle. Shapovalov seems to inherit the same technique but Stan BH is simply the best
Absolutely incredible to watch Stan play like this! His precision, the brilliance of his game is still shining. His genius remains intact. At 39, he doesn’t have the same physical edge as the younger guys in their twenties, and that does work against him. But once again, he’s proving why he was one of the greatest players of our time.
In match like this I wish we could have 2 winners. Breathtaking tennis, zero malice, gamesmanship or rage fits. 39 yrs old Stan the Man played stunning tennis against young star Ben. This is what tennis is all about. Bravo guys👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
If Stan is going down, he's going down swinging. That's great to see because it's a vast improvement from giving up when the chips are down. Might as well go your hardest, win or lose, because we don't know how much longer he has to go before he's the next to leave the game 😢
Stan is still battling well, but Ben is improving his court coverage and movent to go with his varied game. The young guy really plays a different game from most others.
I stand on the tennis of the last generation being more solid than the new style. The precision is better, the intention is better, the footwork is better and even the ability to finish points at will is more pronounced. The only thing you can’t teach is youth 🤷🏾 Great Game by both, but Stan’s my man!
As a Swiss, I am particularly proud of him, and of Stricker too. Wawrinka is showing us some of what he used to be able to do and I have the feeling he's on the up & wants to come back again! Let's go! A lot has happened in the last few months! And logically, in the days when Stan the Man was number 3 in the world, Ben (who I don't like anyway, typical American - a country where any fool can buy a gun) wouldn't have stood a chance. And Stricker also did well against Rune! He's also on an upward trend - but unfortunately didn't follow up the hard shots as well as Alcaraz and Sinner, for example. Lets go!
That's great tennis from both of these guys. Wow. STANding strong and the up-and-coming. I honestly thing Ben is going to be the leading spoiler between the Big 2. But you have Draper too...
Not a Shelton fan, but what is this unsportsmanlike behaviour from Wawrinka at 0:18? The first hit on the ground is for balance but the others are not.
@@ricklee5845 It’s an old story, last year I think. Wawrinka lost after having match points and decided to say to Rune he would do better if he wasn’t such a baby on court. It was funny but totally unprovoked in that match. He was probably referring to some old matches of Rune from his early days on tour. I thought it was unnecessary and a bit salty. Since Shelton is also very theatrical and vocal on court, I thought Stan could have some advice for him as well :) But probably nothing happened, they just cut the handshake, because they don’t care.
One handed Backhand should be required for all tennis players . If you can’t do it , too bad. If you need two hands to hit , then that will be half point. No getting points by serving hard. Serving overhand should be restricted for 2 serves in each set .
Prime Shelton barely beat an 'old man in tennis,' Wawrinka's style is glorious, like Federer, he could play until he's 60, it's not always about slams, it's about style and elegance, that's why Federer even with 20 slams, is GOAT for me, over Nadal and Novak.
That one hand backhand from Wawrinka is just so beautiful to watch.
legendary backhand. Young players should try the one hander

@@joshawott3323 Not ‘was’ but ‘IS’. It’s not going to disappear overnight is it?
Absolutely. The backhand @2:30 was just simply beautiful. Amazing.

Those backhands from Wawrinka were just out of this world and that half volley drop winner was just cherry on top
Good game Wawrinka!
There is nothing better than this one handed backhand.
Pleasing for eyes. ❤❤❤
we dont want it to die. Among the young players, Musetti is the last one standing. Sad stuff

2:16 - that half volley is just insane.
Wawrinka creating works of art with his backhand. The power, fluidity and angles he gets are just beautiful.

Love to see more of Wawrinka's backhand, and forehand winners. Shelton's forehand is unique and fun to watch as well.
That backhand ... probably the best that ever was. The perfect mechanics, it is just a work of art.
Stan reminds us how special his BH was, miss those days.
He's still got that beautiful backhand. He just hasn't got the speed of old.
Great fight for an elderly man! Waw’s tennis is just so beautiful
You mean "just wow"
Elderly man? 💀😭💀
Yep, Stan is 39, soon will be 40, he's doing pretty well, doubt Novak will be doing this well at 39!
What do you mean, elderly?
@@ultrasound1459 The guy is almost 40. In tennis, that is beyond old.
Wawrinka's points were unbelievably good to watch!
Just respect to Ben for this performance in front of an crowd 100% for Stan
Against the 2013-2017 Stan the result should have been quite different...
@@patriceevreux4855 How about the 2029 Shelton
@@patriceevreux4855 well shelton was in middle school and high school from 2013-2017 so of course the result would different...what a dumb comment.

A pleasure to watch as always. Those single handers are a work of art. GOAT single handed Backhand groundstroke. Bar none.
looking at the stats, Stan played a high level with chances to win this match
that backhand drop volley was quite something.. stan the legend
Always a pleasure to watch Stan... Too bad he's slowed down a tad...
He's 39 and played a 2 hour match yesterday🤷♂️
@@elektrik_exekutioner6822 Yes, much respect to Stan for hanging around while most of his peers have retired... (Federer, Nadal... even Thiem)
Wawrinka at 39 playing like this is so refreshing. If Belton was playing 10 years back Wawrinka he wouldn't have a chance
Well done, Ben! 👏
Stan we are pround of you
You almost had him there Stanislas..well done Stan the man.i wish you could've beaten his ass..Stan always the man.

Nice net play from Shelton. Can't give Stan time to set up for his shots but Shelton has enough fire power and finesse to get him on the run.
Even among the big 3, I'm gonna miss Stan's retirement the most painful. The best and most artistic backhand ever!
Boy oh boy do I love watching Stanual the Manual! 😅😅😅
Bravo Ben ma che bello vedere Stan, che livello di tennis👏👏👏👏👏💪💪💪💪

Great to see Stan playing so well again!
Stan is playing great again
Epic highlights from stan.
Man, Stan kept on reloading that backhand, but Ben found a path to victory. Good battle.
Stan the Man always a joy to watch! 👍👍
Sad to see a lose of one hander 😢
Stan is still battling well, but Ben is improving his court coverage and movent to go with his varied game. The young guy really plays a different game from most others.
Best single BH of all time, STANIMAL
considering his age what an incredible fight put up by Stan, his experience and craft prevails above his age, these new kids have to fight for a win
It was like watching a ballet! Beautiful!
That backhand movement takes affect before and after the shot is played just watching the ball escape opponents reach.
Wawrinka’s fight is still there but the stamina not. Still awesome to see him compete
Solid Stuff by the Swiss!
exactly why tennis is much more than stats .....shelton won but we still speak of Stan because of the way he makes tennis look .....

This was a very close match
Stan has the best one hand backhand on the APT tour, nice to see. He ist a great sportsman.

wawrinka has been reading the comments, and it’s given him so speed, I’m afraid, 😂. I love him & want the best for him. Lovely match. 🥰

Disappointing end for Stan but he has been playing incredibly well!
Stan isn’t moving like in his prime but his shots are so beautiful to watch especially the one handed backhand
Ben come ons triggered me today (its 23:51 and I am trying to be quiet), sometimes I do not mind (when I am hyper or joyful)
i love stan
Not a Shelton fan, but what is this unsportsmanlike behaviour from Wawrinka at 0:18? The first hit on the ground is for balance but the others are not.
What you're saying is worthless imo. That's completely his natural movement.😊
he does that so often, it’s 100% intentionally. so unsportsmanlike.
In some ways I think Shelton’s topspin forehand looks like Nadal.
Toujours aussi beau à regarder jouer! 😎
Rublev vs Shelton gonna be fun
Where's the hand shake??
Tennis TV had to hide it because Stan was being a bad sport.
Stan missed all 5 break points opportunities, shelton covered his single 1.
I love Ben but I was rooting for Stan the Man today!
Besides the last two shots is a highlights reel from Stan
The enjoyment of watching 1 normal wawrinka backhand is equal to watching 20 two handed backhand winners
Fun match. Captured the acoustics of shots really well. Not sure if its the venue of camera positioning to thank for that
Experience wins every time no matter the age!
Stand would have taken down most guys this evening … but Ben is really getting up there. Curious to see, how high he can climb
The forstinute was literally all Shelton winners when the match was close
Wawrinka still has it. But his classic abilities can't outlast modern tennis strokes and fast younger opponents.
Where is the handshake? Did Stan have anything to say to Shelton like he did the other day with Rune?
What happened there? When were they playing?

But they showed the handshake with the other guys. I think something went down! Lol. 🫣
I feel like if Stan had the legs of Monphils he would have had 10 grand slams in his belt.
stand down, stand man
I was hoping Stan would win but understandably age catches up with all of us. Prime Stanimal would have destroyed Shelton.
Wheres the handshake
I miss the one handed backhand artists.
Stan makes me want to become ambidextrous and only hit with two one handed backhands.
Big Ben takes another champ down!!!
Does Shelton say “vamos” when he wins a point?

Stan still looking good
Why miss out the handshake?

On a swiss company backed by Roger Federer.

Why Vienna open highlights is so pleasant to watch while this is burden to watch
Is Shelton trained by Barack Woods??
ugh, he's sooo close to breaking through against the tougher players. He's lost so many tiebreakes this season.
Gee, the score is even, yet they show only Ben's winning points, but not Stan's.

why is ben shelton yelling vamos?

Why does shelton,an American, celebrated with a "vamos",not "c'mon"?
Sorry for Shelton winning 😞😞😞😞
Roid boy got lucky here. Stan's game is a thing of beauty.
So sad Stan lost, played much better
not even 3 minutes of highlights. great ad for tennis (:
Wawrinka at his best was way better than Shelton at his best. This generation is worse than last one.
