In case it hasn't been mentioned yet, that rattata thing is likely an initialization entity. In the code of the games, routes use a lookup table. The table is just a list of entries of pokemon id & level, if there are 100 entries, and 15 of them are rattata; there's a 15% chance of rattata, with the individual levels dictating the level range. The HGSS safari zone changes its spawn pool based on layout and objects etc. So what would need to be done is the table is generated, and then the code works through and replaces each entry with applicable results based on the current configuration. By skipping the guard dialogue, you likely skip the call to the function that generates this, so the table is initialized with however many slots of just; level 20 rattata
Would this be intentional to the safari zone, or is rattata the default pokemon lookup tables use in HGSS ? it's kind of funny to think game freak planned in advance for players cheating or glitching into the safari zone without getting into a safari game to catch shelgon and such normally and instead of leaving the grass empty choose ratata specifically. though i'm not familiar with how the maps function in pokemon and wouldn't know if encounters can be turned off under specific circumstances

im gonna be honest i think the challenge rock thing is relatively common knowledge bc one of the 3 starters evolves into a fighting type, the nearby gym is normal type and u can catch multiple different fighting types in the grass in that area so its pretty likely that a player would get one and interact with the rock while looking for hidden items
You would think so. But I think I only ever checked it when reaching the route before catching a fighting type there. Or I completely forgot after all those years.
I mean, assuming that upon arrival they had a fighting type and checked the rock while looking for hidden items, it would be a safe assumption from the player that it was just a hidden item in that area and would only realize something is off if they did another playthrough and checked it for the item without a fighting type. Not a lot of people would wait an entire day and check the rock a second time on the off chance it regenerated it's item lol.
Just a tip for future audio editing: try to downmix your voice to mono, as in this video your stereo speech is weirdly coming out of the "lower left" direction and briefly goes to the right at each popping sound. In a headset, it starts to feel a bit nauseating after a couple minutes. Great facts tho!
As a self proclaimed Top Coordinator (lol), I did know that you can compete against Jasmine in contests. But I never put two and two together that Rusty is the Steelix she gives you in HGSS! (I don’t know if I even made it to the point where you can trade with her)
I actually didn't know about the gen 5 star piece for a weird reason: On my only playthru that I tried interacting with that rock, I caught a Sawk in that grass and swapped it to be my party lead because I liked its design. I found the star piece then, didn't know it was recurring, and never bothered getting it in other runs because I'd already completed the dex once so I didn't feel the need to buy a crap ton of pokeballs. I just figured it was a standard static item.

The map's designation as 0,0,0 suggests the map development started with Petalburg. Oldale was added later, and really just feels like more of Twinleaf. You don't really start the journey until you're out of the home towns.

@eustaquiokum4617 I'm no one's dude, and those facts just are not obscure, one look at your party in a gen 3 game with any statuses or health at or below 50% will show the fact clearly, facts in prima guides aren't obscure, and the waterfall room is very known about. do I know a lot about pokémon? definitely, but that doesn't mean that the non-obscure facts are obscure

I thought this series was over. So happy to see you’ve found more obscure things in Pokémon. Love your work man, even beyond the “10 hidden secrets etc” videos. Happy holidays
"Only one in Extistence" something seems off here...
yeah it should be Existence, not Extistence
Also misspelled “weird” as “wierd” earlier in the video
This video seems more scuffed then some of the past ones
Bro felt the pokeMMO experience on that shiny rate 💀
the rich kids used full restores :O
A bit bold of you to assume you're the only one to discover the Rattata in the debug Safari Zone, let alone catching one shiny
Didn’t shiny hunt it, but definitely caught one as a kid to show my older brother
It's just a story narrative my man. I'm sure he is aware that, technically speaking, he may not be the only one who has a shiny debug rattata.
@@Joeybanananas he once talked about the pokepark egg distributions that have special moves and how getting a shiny hatch of that would be the only one in existence, that one is WAY more plausible as the only one. at the end of the day its just a walk through walls rattata
@@flookaraz Like I said its just a narrative. It helps the video trend and thats money in his pocket.
Out of the thousands that have watched this video 95%+ of them have never thought about this stuff before
People take these things way too seriously and personally. Regardless if he’s the first or not, does it matter and does it matter if he claims he does? There’s no other proof someone has it, and if someone does then good for them. But nobody cares either way.
You have achieved Youngster Joey’s dream, you have obtained _The_ top Rattata
im gonna be honest i think the challenge rock thing is relatively common knowledge bc one of the 3 starters evolves into a fighting type, the nearby gym is normal type and u can catch multiple different fighting types in the grass in that area so its pretty likely that a player would get one and interact with the rock while looking for hidden items
Well i def didnt kno owell
You would think so. But I think I only ever checked it when reaching the route before catching a fighting type there.
Or I completely forgot after all those years.
I mean, assuming that upon arrival they had a fighting type and checked the rock while looking for hidden items, it would be a safe assumption from the player that it was just a hidden item in that area and would only realize something is off if they did another playthrough and checked it for the item without a fighting type. Not a lot of people would wait an entire day and check the rock a second time on the off chance it regenerated it's item lol.
Don't the trainers mention it too? It took me a few playthroughs to discover this tbf
an npc literally says it lol
Pleaseeeee need the songlist, ur vids are just perfection in every aspect
+1
The first song is Outside Space by John Frusciante, it is also the outro of his song Mascara
@@hariguy I knew somebody would have it, I couldn't remember the name but knew it was John
@@hariguy THANK YOU KIND STRANGER
Is it just me or is the audio on this video kinda messed up? It's like bouncing back and forth in my headphones.
I noticed the same thing, thought my earphones were dying or I was going crazy 😅
THANK YOU. So I'm not going crazy
I discovered the Rattata in the safari zone at like the age of 11, bro. Action replays were big back in the day
Love a unexpected blueboyphin upload
clearly didnt read the community post
@abondednajs666I didn’t see the post on my feed so it was news to me too.
Same. Even though I did see the community post. 😂
@abondednajs666 you think I can read?
Just a tip for future audio editing: try to downmix your voice to mono, as in this video your stereo speech is weirdly coming out of the "lower left" direction and briefly goes to the right at each popping sound. In a headset, it starts to feel a bit nauseating after a couple minutes.
Great facts tho!
Who made the beat at 13:40?? It's so good
"I won't stop until I will" truer words have never been spoken, my friend
"Facts you don't know"
> Literally just explains the Challenge Rock, something that the game explicitly tells you about
I have to say most of these were pretty weak. congrats on the shiny default safari rattatta, but I think we might be out of secrets if this is what you're throwing at us
Agreed, I feel he's running out of material, I think it might be time for him to dive into unused content instead, seems the Well has run dry for stuff that made it in-game
idk how bro calls himself a pokemon fact channel when he refuses to cover a fact from any game released after Gen 5 unless the video runtime desperately needs it
Was a fun video to watch for me
THIS IS WHY I LOVE GEN 4 AND 5 THEY HAVE SUCH WIERD AND RANDOM EVENTS. They didn't have to this, but they did anyway. I swear nothing in the newer games hit like those games did. I know its just nostalgia but still
Now THAT'S a top percentage Rattata
The 3rd gen party movement related to their health i noticed growing up, but literally everything else in this video was new. Ive said it ok oast videos but youre truly the only channel thats actually given me new stuff i haven't heard, in like 10 years. So thank you so much for what you do man. And again thanks for that insanely good video on alphs. That might be my all time favorite thing anyone in the fan base has ever done 🤘
Im pretty sure the Sudowoodo will respawn if you knock it out after you beat the pokemon league
Yes (along with other static encounters/legendaries) only if you knock it out will it respawn so you can still only get one
Dude, your videos are the most underrated on the platform. I look forward to these videos every single time and the amount of work you put in does not go unnoticed. Keep doing what you’re doing!
While finding the shiny ratatta was cool, I feel like anyone who had an action replay tried to enter the safari zone without paying atleast once. I know I definitely did many many years ago
Right, and I'd be surprised if there was no always shiny code for AR.
I have to respect the grind for that shiny Rattata, I would have given up well before 20,000 encounters.
I used to use walk through walls to go into the safari zone all the time as a kid. Can’t say I found a green rat though
Your channel is seriously the best pokemon channel. It's got such a different vibe than all the others. From the music to the way you talk about things. Your ruins of alph video is one of my favorite videos on this entire platform
10:26 I thought everyone knew about that one because I found it as a child and instantly knew that's where the event was
Zelda games and dark souls games have me checking every wall and waterfall in every single game i play
Your videos are more than just a video, they are art
The fact at 9:00 is a pretty obvious one I think a lot of people have noticed
Nope i didn't
I've noticed it ever since I was a kid 🤷
@@aschgray734 great! Good for you
This whole video was awesome. I love learning about little quirks from past games. Then the cherry on top being a side story about your own special Rattata...Bravo!
The facts in this video might be a little less obscure than most of the other vids so far, but the editing and music were still awesome af 👌
Also I really like that you used the shiny Ratata for out of bounds adventures, congratz on catching that beauty ^-^
I might add a Ratata to my Safari Zone living dex as the only catchable pokemon in this area without a safari ball, but only if it can be done without cheats since I sadly don’t have an action replay or something similar
yknow. i never really expect it, but these videos you make always end up surprising me in quality
THE BLACK AND WHITE BOULDER I ACTUALLY DID WITHOUT NOTICING, BACK THEN I HAD A THROH
I once found a Shiny Ekans on LeafGreen but since I was 7 and stupid I thought the game had glitches and just beat normally years later I found out about the existence of Shiny Pokemon, and the amount of regret I have was immense since then I have yet to encounter any shiny pokemon
I understand, I did the same as a kid with a shiny Shinx in Diamond (> < )
@TheRealBelovianna oh that hurt even more
@@quihuynh1647 No no, I'd say equal pain 🩵 not tryna dismiss what you went through.. I was just mentioning it as a way of saying "Don't worry, I understand".
@TheRealBelovianna I got a shiny Eleckid in Bw2 the others day
@@quihuynh1647 Oh congrats! ^^ I've also found shinies since the diamond incident, mostly in Omega Ruby or Moon. My last shiny was a Maril I believe.
ayyye shiny out of bounds rattata, congratulations
The only shiny Rattata to be caught in an abandoned mall using KFC WiFi.
02:30 I remember getting something like that before not too sure but I think I did just thought it was a regular item.
Oh mannnnn! I haven't heard 777minus111 in AGES. Thank you for the kind reminder!
Ive spent over a year playing heart gold getting shiny hooh, it took me ~168.000 attempts, i feel your rattata pain lmfao
Really got emotional over ONLY 1, congratulations on your amazing achievement
5:18 Chibi-Robo music out of no where. XD Love it. Amazing game.
Dude you deserve it after the hunt and the time you put in it. Congratulations no bs proud of you. You got a new subscriber.
Legend actually got the forbidden slime Rat, while in an abandoned rats nest. You rock man, you fuckin' rock
Bro didn't even catch it with a Safari ball, making it an illegal pokemon.
interesting, but is it just me or is the audio like.... behind me?
Best facts video on anything ive ever seen. True dedication to find that shiny and respect for giving it a good life
If over 5x over odds isn’t enough for you to give up WHILE counting every single one, oof. I have no words
It makes me not feel so bad about going 64k for a gen 2 starter... 😂 He almost made it that far
Well, this channel did just used to be full odds hunting videos before he switched to this content, some of his other hunts went crazy long too, like the tree Munchlax if I’m not mistaken, I’m pretty sure he’s used to it by now lol
its gen 4, it wasnt even 3x over odds
@@frostyclouded based pfp of the world's #1 idol
Hearing Supersponge music in a Pokemon video gave me some extreme jumpscarey whiplash. (That’s a good thing btw, W game and soundtrack. Also great vid!)
It's telling that most of these are from HG/SS. The first Pokemon games I played and still the best (to me), all these years later.
You had some bold claims with that rattata one, you’re like the last one to discover the area
13:33 Song name anyone?
Bump
Sounds like a Tim Follin track from the NES era. Brb
edit: I have no effin clue
Shiny rat montage song | 777minus111 - ghbdtn
It’s in the description
@RushieCat thanks
Bro took “my rattata is different from regular rattata its like my rattata is in the top percentage of rattatas” to the next level fr
i love this video, but please spell-check your titles LMAO
Bro just found the rocket cave 😐who’s gonna tell him we’ve all gone there
Wait is that John Frusciante at the start?
I can never get over how the artistic quality of your videos mskes me fee!. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us all.
since when does gen 3 start in petalburg lol
The map's designation as 0,0,0 suggests the map development started with Petalburg. Oldale was added later, and really just feels like more of Twinleaf. Think Vaniville to Aquaford, or Nuvema to Accumula. These towns all feel really small, like they rely on the next town over to get their supplies, and get kind of lumped together. You don't really start the journey until you're out of the home towns.
@@JokingThief Great explanation and that actually makes sense, yeah!
Your videos are always made as a cinematic experience, and I love it!
I thought fact 7 was pretty noticeable
Phin, you leave me morbidly curious about your lifestyle. From your previous videos, to this one. You get me wondering how folks manage to live so freely. I'm too spooked by most things to wander, let alone to hang out playing DS at an abandoned mall.
Brand new BlueBoyPhin?? Gotta pause everything
Love the dedication to getting the Rattata. I remember using my Action Replay as a kid to walk through walls and go into the Safari zone thinking it would be easier to catch the pokemon in there and after only seeing the Rattata I left. Grats on getting the shiny though!
It was a bit hard to hear you over the music, might want to turn it down a bit, but overall this was a pretty interesting video!
Theres someone else out there with a shiny Rattata. To think you're the only one is absurd.
Only a 5% boost and only in HGSS? Feels more like a bug 😅
I would think that twins would use the same moves lol :P
I mean abilities are about sticking, pulling or being more perceptive don't think it's a bug because abilities make sense with finding an item laying on the ground after breaking a rock.
Beautiful ending man! I love your videos!
facts 1 and 3 are definitely in the respective prima guides, sorry but fact 7 is just obvious unless you always play the games with no damage runs exclusively (and you didn't even add that statuses also affect the jumping speed), fact 8 is WELL known (and maybe also in the prima guide).
I remember when every fact on this channel was actually obscure, now it's kinda just whatever facts get found
My dude, I think you know a little bit too much about Pokémon. I'm quite sure that *most* of these aren't common knowledge
@@AstralSpitfire yeah no way to defend the Gen 3 party one, that's why I said *most* lmao. But everything else I'm quite sure that it's actually obscure for someone who is not a little bit too deep into Pokemon
Can confirm fact 3 being in it's prima guide, it's how I found out about it.
Most videos with these kind of titles usually are just clickbait. BUT, for each fact in this video, I was genuinely surprised. I have never heard of some of these and the golden rat catching at the end was just 👌🏼 definitely subscribing
what song is at 14:00??
Darude sandstorm
I like the tune as well quite a bit, Shazam will give you: My Toy Soldiers by Ewell J. Juliana. It is similar but not the same, in the video caption it states "Shiny rat montage song | 777minus111 - ghbdtn" so it makes me wonder if maybe he sampled it and tuned it.
@ i’ll check it out thank you btw
All these facts but one I didn't know. II have seen a few of your videos but finally subbed. I was homeless for 29 days and if that happens again but longer was thinking of streaming in places like Starbucks, Burger King, etc. Thank you for the inspiration and congrats on your World's 1st and one and only Safari Zone trespassed Shiny Rattata :D
EDIT: Oh wait! I am subscribed already. My bad xD
11:54 song?
i would like to know too!
