Regening KO'd or fled static mon is something added in gen 4 DP mesprit doesn't regen though, only in platinum is it faster to hunt it by KOing it first (only in platinum if you KO a roaming pokemon does it return to the spot you can set them roaming as the other games just make them immediately roam about when you enter the hall of fame)
In case it hasn't been mentioned yet, that rattata thing is likely an initialization entity. In the code of the games, routes use a lookup table. The table is just a list of entries of pokemon id & level, if there are 100 entries, and 15 of them are rattata; there's a 15% chance of rattata, with the individual levels dictating the level range. The HGSS safari zone changes its spawn pool based on layout and objects etc. So what would need to be done is the table is generated, and then the code works through and replaces each entry with applicable results based on the current configuration. By skipping the guard dialogue, you likely skip the call to the function that generates this, so the table is initialized with however many slots of just; level 20 rattata

Or if it came with high contest stats (like the cuteness, beauty, etc stats). You might not be able to view those stats in hgss, but the game remembers them and you could trade it to Sinnoh to view the stats. (Like how there's a cool thing where if you get a Feebass to high beauty so it's ready to evolve but don't level it up, then send it to a game without contests like transfer up to Unova, then level it up once, it still evolves. Even though Unova added the trade item, it still also evolves if it has the beauty stat ready.) It was a bit hard to hear you over the music, might want to turn it down a bit, but overall this was a pretty interesting video!
Brand new BlueBoyPhin?? Gotta pause everything
Me and my rat vibing in the infinite void after the last star in the universe grows cold while we wait for the snail to reach us
As someone that went out of his way to use every single evolved Pokemon by playing Fire Red Leaf Green an unhealthy amount of times, I had a weird sense of pride when I knew about Fact no. 7
Also the shiny Safari Zone Rattata is LITERALLY the definition of insanity for A YEAR that actually had a payoff.
It weirdly inspired me with hard work and patience. Love the video Phin!
At the end I expected you to quickly add, "Until someone is crazy enough to hunt for another one"
If over 5x over odds isn’t enough for you to give up WHILE counting every single one, oof. I have no words
It makes me not feel so bad about going 64k for a gen 2 starter... 😂 He almost made it that far
Imagine if that Ratata was still programmed to flee like the regular Safari encounters
The fact at 9:00 is a pretty obvious one I think a lot of people have noticed
Nope i didn't
I've noticed it ever since I was a kid 🤷
@@aschgray734 great! Good for you
Only a 5% boost and only in HGSS? Feels more like a bug 😅
I would think that twins would use the same moves lol :P
I mean abilities are about sticking, pulling or being more perceptive don't think it's a bug because abilities make sense with finding an item laying on the ground after breaking a rock.
'grats on finding the mon you were after for so long.
Dog the shear determination for a yellow rat is W I L D. Congratulations !
i’m 600 encounters into my own ratatta hunt. see you soon Phin.
this is actually the first facts video that i've seen in years that had mostly facts i DIDN'T knew about, great video!
What's the song at 12:35?
Beta song from HGSS
That’s the beta intro from the HGSS beta that was unveiled after the October 2024 game freak leak
I knew all of these except about the Shiny Ratatta, gotta hunt one now
The commitment to the bit is incredibly admirable.
Totally worth it, great collection of facts and pretty much all were new to me too! Keep it up blueboy!
2:38 THAT IS A ROCK!
Thats some dedication for the Rat. I really thought I was gonna go crazy hatching 1000+ eggs for a shiny chimchar
thats exactly how the table looks when u use tools
fact 7, about party animations being linked to hp, is actually one of my fav details lol. they also slow down if they have a status cond.
I'm a shiny hunter. I don't do a lot of full-odds hunting but I have a few precious full-odds babies that I treasure... And I don't do full odds for this very reason. I get locked in and obsessed when I hunt. Going over odds... going *significantly* over odds... It would eat up my life. Mad respect.
You years late with that safari zone thing, like late af, you think we were walking thru walls and never thought to try the safari zone thing???? Cmon bro, that’s like one of the first places me and my brother thought to go
That rhyhorn from brock might be my all time favorite in-game trade. Hope you had a good day
If rusty had a ribbon from the contests that would have been dope.
Even though Unova added the trade item, it still also evolves if it has the beauty stat ready.) It'd be cool if Rusty had high contest stats and if you send it to the Sinnoh games you'd see those stats.
Truly in the top percentage of Rattata in terms of rarity.
The goat just uploaded hell yeah
Props for the shiny safari zone ratata that, takes commitment. Mad respect
13:33 what's the Song Name?
Im imagining the grass is all programmed to contain certain lists of pokemon, and as a terminating if and statement, probably has a final conditional to default a pokemon to all unclaimed grass spots
BlueBoyPhin is not only a shiny hunter, he is also hunted by a few bounty hunters who have no idea he was hiding in an abandoned mall that night ! The hunt goes on !!
No fkn way. You did the impossible. A 10 facts you don't know video where i actually did not know any of them 😂
I genuinely don’t know how you keep finding so many never before seen facts. Please don’t stop though
I just love your story telling every since
Thanks for every video, always with you
