a fun note about N's dialogue speed; it's actually it's own special speed that's even faster than the fastest text speed option. it's just barely noticable by eye
I think elderly NPCs also have a super slow text speed that's slower than the others, and you can only see it if you don't press A during their dialogue.
Another fact about N's text speed: as you mentioned, his text speed is fast, even if the settings have it set to slow or medium. If you have your settings set to fast, there is a special text speed that is even faster that only N can use
There is also the opposite mechanic(Unless I misremember) where an NPC related to the ghost-appearance always speaks one setting slower than what is set, which then uses a hidden "Super Slow"-value when one sets it at the lowest normal setting.
The Ghosts being unaffected by trapping moves and abilities thing has actually been a thing since X/Y. It was added at the same type as Electric's immunity to paralysis, Fire's immunity to burn, Ice's immunity to freeze and Grass' immunity to Powder and Spore moves.

@Crystal-ry4pv They recently changed this, actually. It used to be that Pokémon of a certain type are immune to secondary effects of moves of that type, but now they've changed it to be type specific, such as paralyze no longer affecting electric type Pokémon, be it static shock or body slam.
The met location friendship boost is actually mentioned in-game in Crystal. After you beat Pokéfan Jaime on Route 39, she says, "I met my MEOWTH at night, right here on ROUTE 39. I'm not sure why, but it seems to like it when I train here. It seems to become friendlier by training here than anywhere else."
I remember seeing an interesting take on the Eevee evolution thing in Yellow. Beating your rival twice makes him evolve it into jolteon so he can finally have some advantage over pikachu since jilteon has volt absorb, countering pikachu. Losing both battles seems to make your rival cocky, so he evolves it into vaporeon to show he thinks he can still beat pikachu despite the disadvantage, losing one and winning one makes your rival take the evolution that has to particular advantage or disadvantage to pikachu. Kinda cool how it may show some kind of slight development of the rival through subtle gameplay
But abilities weren’t in the game, so Volt Absorb would make no sense. Jolteon still hold an advantage as the best electric Pokémon in Gen 1 (outside of Zapdos), due to crit being related to speed, and Double Kick and Pin Needle with a resistance to Pikachu’s STAB made it have that advantage. Flareon is an unfortunate Pokémon and probably easier to beat than Vaporeon for Pikachu. Vape at least had a high special to take a hit and deal back; Flareon’s STAB was different than its better atk stat.
Abilities didn't exist in Yellow. But I do like the idea that the rival gets so salty over losing twice to your Pikachu that he goes out of his way to have his own electric type.
@@motodog242Flareon and Vaporeon had the same special stat in gen 1 (110) so Flareon did actually have an easier time against Pikachu due to taking neutral damage and having access to flamethrower.

Cubone and Marowak have a different color palette than Gastly and Haunter (the difference is subtle in Red & Blue however), and the Ghost spawned through the Missingno. glitch has Missingno.'s colors. Been loving your obscure facts series, cant stand watching a “X# of Facts about Whatever that you didn’t know” and knowing every single one. It’s rare that I know the facts you share, which is refreshing for a Show/Game I’ve loved my entire life.
I'm not sure if it's true but apparently normal was going to be super effective on ghost types when you actually were able to hit them (after identifying them via foresight/odor sleuth). This would have been really fun to see in the games and would give the identify mechanic some pretty good use.
I’ll bet the older mystery dungeon series games have a ton of secrets that have gone unnoticed- every time I replay them, I feel like I see something new. Today I played Explorers of Sky and found out you can get Eggs in Spinda’s Juice bar.
@@judgementbird2248 I don’t know how common it is, but yeah, I ordered a juice drink and then Spinda was like “that patron over there sends you this gift” and it pans over to a Pupitar, then pans back and tells me I got an egg.
@@howling_starr I'll see if it indeed hatches into Larvitar to confirm if this hilarious scenario is indeed the case, then get back to you if and when that happens.
I didn't know that. I remember always getting jolteon (I didn't even know you could progress if you lose to him), I once read that he evolves his eevee based on your highest level pokemon at one point in the game, but thinking about it now it does not make much sense.
Wow the friendship boost and the unova alternative location are so cool. Never heard of either before. Thanks for the shout out, glad more people will know about the safari and bcc mechanic
The shiny outfit from Battle Revolution was incredible, I never knew that was a thing. I played that game so much when I was a kid and I still love it. Thank you for sharing that
Ghost-types always being able to switch out/run has been since gen 6. It was actually announced along with the type chart changes and Grass-types being immune to powder moves.
Your take on PokeRus and its initial origin has sparked my interest. It had me thinking with my last Crystal playthrough that if there is more to it. Maybe I'm over-analyzing but I do think it's somewhat peculiar that the virus can be had after reaching Goldenrod. All I'm saying is that, by sea, Goldenrod is really close to Cianwood and Olivine...Olivine has a sick lighthouse Pokemon. Just north of the lighthouse after a very small route, there's a sick Miltank on a farm. Cianwood has a man running a pharmacy with intense medications. Like I said, I could be way off. The two ways the Pokemon are healed with assistance from the player are different; though, the sheer closeness of the a sick Ampharos and Miltank might have some connection or story that has yet to be fleshed out.
To add to the theory: Goldenrod is the largest city in Johto. Was the virus brought over from Kanto by train? Was it developed in a secret lab Underground? So many possible theories...
@Mr Stu Deeoh same, I only found out about it because I was able to run from a super high leveled mon with a baby Litwick while flying on Lati@s in ORAS
Bro the shiny costumes being so rare and almost never found and some still not found after all this time is so so so badass. It's the essence of exploration and human perseverance.
As a kid I thought I was some kind of Pokémon expert. As an adult, I learn I've barely scratched the surface of Pokémon with every fact video I watch. Clicked the bell icon because from now on, I never want to miss a single video
Another fun fact about encountering the box legendary at Dragonspiral in Black and White: I remember reading that they aren't shiny locked anymore at that location, allowing you to bypass the lock if you are up to the task of completely filling your boxes.
You can use action replay codes to force wild pokemon to be shiny and test it. Whenever I try to force zekrom to be shiny the game freezes since it's impossible due to the lock. If you cheat force shinies and you encounter zekrom at dragonspiral then you can test if it'll work. Same went for victini. My ds would freeze when I would try to force it to be shiny.
I remember Dragonspiral Tower is the place where you encounter your box legendary in Black 2 and White 2... After beatting N in the post-game, he will ask his legendary to revert to a stone, and then you take that stone to Dragonspiral Tower to free your Legendary Pokemon and catch it! It seems as if Black and White's hidden Legendary "ending" was reused for Black 2 and White 2! I wonder if Reshiram and Zekrom are shiny-locked in Black 2 and White 2 tho, as i think Kyurem is shiny locked in both Black and White and Black 2 and White 2, but i am not sure... Someone should see if Reshiram and Zekrom are shiny-locked in Black 2 and White 2!
Doesn't help that gen 3 had a berry juice minigame. Iirc the Morimoto NPC from USUM mentions designing Shuckle in one of his comments and suggests something happens if you let it hold a berry as a reference.
14:16, something like 20 years ago a friend of mine claimed that his togepi evolved at like level 9 or 10. This explains it. I guess he trained it where it hatched..
It's also possible to raise friendship by just walking around with the Pokémon in your party, without it having to battle. On my most recent playthrough of Silver, I kept the level 5 Togepi in my party until I decided to finally give it some EXP late in the game with the EXP Share item, and it evolved at level 6.
I don't know what it is about your style and cadence in your videos but they always hit that nostalgia itch so perfectly, all while being genuinely interesting and fun. Thank you for making these videos, they're a real treat to watch. I play so much Pokemon that I'll sometimes get burned out for a few weeks on end, and every time I watch one of your videos, I'll have to go back and charge up my GBA to play some more.
I already knew that Ghost types were unable to be trapped since Gen 6, including by Shadow Tag. It’s obscure but really cool they can flee any battle now, feels like a natural extension
Oh my gosh, I actually experienced number 9 firsthand! I remember as a kid I used Shuckle, I gave it a berry and then it had berry juice at some point…it was so long ago, I barely remember it, and honestly I thought I was misremembering because abilities weren't a thing! THANK YOU for validating an obscure childhood memory of mine!
I already knew about the evee evolution mechanic (it's actually explained in a lot of places, just never as a trivia) and the 'alternate ending', but the others were mind blowing. I knew about the suckle one, but I didn't know it was gen 2 exclusive (an episode in the anime was centered around the mechanic, so it wasn't particularly unheard of at the time).
There's a list of all the Pokemon you can catch that are N's in bw2 and with the memory link you could play through the game with his Pokemon. Not just zoroara or darmanitan. It's all the Pokemon he released into the wild after the encounters with the player in bw
I feel kinda proud for knowing about the Safari IVs on my own, as I spent a long time hunting all the block based mons in HGSS. While I didn't get any 6 Max IVs mons, I did get a handful of mons with 4 Max IVs. Unfortunately there's also a chance that while you might get 1-2 Max IVs, the rest will be within the 0-10 IV range.
just wanted to point out, there are already a bunch more effects for other types akin to ghosts being untrappable. there are the obvious ones, like fire being immune to burn, steel and poison being immune to poison, and electric being immune to paralysis. But, there’s also less obvious ones, grass being immune to powder moves, and rock’s special defense being boosted in a sandstorm.
Psychic terrain only prevents priority moves if the targeted pokemon is grounded. If the enemy is a flying-type or has levitate, they can still be hit with priority
@@ActualCatfish All terrain effects only affect grounded pokemon. So flying/levitating mons also won't heal from grassy terrain, stay awake on electric terrain, etc.
I knew about the Ghost-type one- it's a pretty commonly known competitive Pokemon fact that Ghost-types are immune to trapping effects. Didn't know it also let you always escape from battle, like a built in Run Away.
please keep this series going, there's not many videos that I am genuinely excited to watch when they pop up in my feed! you got something going for sure!
I've gotten pokerus twice, once on an emulator playing Emerald and, more recently, during my nuzlocke run of Brilliant Diamond. Ended up finding it around Jubilife if I recall correctly.
"Tend to find" 💀 Having played every single game, many multiple times, and never using repels, I have never found a full-odds shiny (not counting games like Legends where finding shinies is significantly easier), _but_ I found a Pokerus pokemon ironically while chain fishing in X/Y
I don't comment much, but I just wanna say that I've been enjoying your obscure facts series, and it's satisfying getting to hear about things that even someone like me who's well versed in Pokémon hasn't heard about. Some things I have heard about, but most things in these videos, I haven't heard before.
This series is probably the best pokemon fact series I've ever seen. The facts are incredibly obscure and interesting, and you frame and present the information brilliantly. Thankyou for doing such a great job
I love your videos so much!!! The way you narrate is also so perfect I really love the tone. It feels nostalgic in a good sense. These videos make me emotional because of how vast the games and community are and how people come together to work towards these found mysteries. Its just completely awesome. Keep up the good work!
Pokemon is my special interest, so I love learning new things about the series that aren't already said a million times, I always get excited seeing another one of these videos
Same!!! It's not so intense anymore but a couple of years back I spent hours watching facts videos about Pokemon and hoping there'd be new ones. It's such a good special interest to have because there's so much content and so much you can engage with yourself and aaaah. I love Pokemon so much!! Also I have an online friend who's SpIn is also Pokemon so we actually got to write fanfic together a couple years ago! Using weird facts and autism headcanons. It was great. Sorry for the massive amount of unrelated info
Hey neat, it’s mine too. I dunno if I feel excited per se, but I’ll always prioritise these kinds of videos above anything else, I love learning more about Pokémon.
I feel compelled to join in the "me too!" autism special interest train. I don't normally comment on videos but there's a kinship here I don't get to experience. I've only recently been diagnosed with ASD (at the tail-end of 2020) but my interest in Pokémon has existed for pretty much my whole life. I'm not slowing down any time soon either! XD
🤝 I'm also autistic and Pokémon has been my special interest since I was 6, though I only got my first game at 10. I'll probably always love it, the games just have so many memories and I have way too much knowledge in my brain lmao
Itd be nice if Sunny Day had an effect on Diglett if they continue with the weakness to sunlight.. itd be great if they took into account specific pokedex facts and applied them to gameplay
I feel like the perfect way to do that would be to give them Solar Power or some unique hidden ability like it. They get some kinda boost in return for being damaged by sunlight at the end of each turn.
@@shytendeakatamanoir9740 I would've suggested that over Solar Power if not for the fact that Dry Skin comes with the beneficial effect of being healed in the Rain. It'd be a bit strange if a Pokemon weak to Water moves was able to be healed by Rain.
The Ghost type being able to escape from any battle explains, how in my Ghost type only run through of Shield, I can always escape from the enemy pokemon, even if the pokemon is double my level. Neat!
Another obscure fact that many of us just avoid is phin is one of the very few people who are generous enough yo share what tracks he used in his videos
I love the idea maybe Fairy types being able to find wild pokemon with held items at a higher rate. Kinda like how Fire types and Poison types can't be burned or poisoned respectively, I think dark types should be immune to confusion.
I wouldn't go saying "I wish they still added little details like such and such..." because of both how long it takes for these sorts of things to be found and how much you have to dig to find them for these videos (Which are great, keep up the good work). You really never know when it comes to these things.
i actually knew the eevee evolution thing before but its because i looked into it because i was curious. i think its a neat way to make things easier or harder on the player to have pikachu's electric attacks be resisted, neutral, or super effective on the respective eeveeluton.
Same, when Gen 1 came out, it felt like the fact about the Rival's Eevolutions to Jolteon/Flareon/Vaporeon was common knowledge - like I remember reading about it in an old walkthrough or something, together with the tip that to get past the first gym (Pewter), you either have to grind a Caterpie up to Butterfree, or catch the lone Pidgeotto in Viridian Forest. But then that was 20+ years ago, so info can be lost to time, I guess
Holy frick It's wild to know that you've already made 12 of these! To think, there are that many secrets that even real intense fans don't know always about Keep up the incredible work
Ooh the Shuckle thing is a reference to it’s anime episode! Their shells were used to make berry juice. Or maybe the episode is a nod to this little game detail lol. Either way it’s a cute mechanic
I didn't know it was an actual thing either. But that explains a lot, like how I put Poltergeist in front of my party in the Shield Island just so it could still follow me even when I'm surfing around and suddenly stopped having trouble getting away from Sharpedos.
The Pokérus one reminded me that weird rumor that went around in 2002 where people claimed that fighting wild Yanma doubled the chance of getting Pokérus. Also another rumor stated that in Crystal in certain nights you could talk to a guy in the Olivine City bar (the place you get the HM for Strength) and get a "Poké Rhum" that instantly gives Pokérus to one of your Pokémon.
@6:00 I'm pretty sure nintendo leaked that info in an ad, maybe in a magazine. I remember hearing about it before the game came out but I can't remember where.
Thank you for the diglett fact I always knew something was strange when I was doing the complete pokedex in crystal version the spawn rate was way too high as I could barely walk through without spamming repels which I needed for hunting Entei and Raikou. I remember that it was night time back then because I was still a kid in school and had to do most of it at night.
I actually did know about Shuckle's mysterious gen 2 ability. It's mentioned in an official Nintendo Player's guide, so I've known about it for a while.
I knew about it too but I remember hearing that if Shuckle continued to hold it the juice would turn into a rare candy. I’m pretty sure it’s untrue but Shuckle would have been way more appreciated if it was a free exp farm
This was such a cool watch! I actually knew about the ones regarding N, the Rival's choice, the Shuckle thing, and the friendship bonus, but I didn't know about the rest! This is the same kind of nitty gritty stuff I love most!
You never know if watching one of these types of videos is going to be one cool fact and 9 watchmojo level obvious facts, but I can confidently say this is like the gourmet selection of pokemon facts. Bravo!!
Such a cool video dude!!! Loved the last fact and the different mechanics shared here! It’s like my own personal treat in the evening after a long and stressful day, this keeps me interested and so happy I am a Pokémon fan.
About the N fact: you can get his Pokémon in the sequels, not the first game, and the only one you get for free is the Zorua. It’s been a long time, but if I remember correctly, you can encounter his other Pokémon by connecting the bw2 file with a completed(?) black/white game, which will unlock extra N-focused cutscenes. His Pokémon will start spawning in certain routes after that, and they have a special entering battle animation that’s very missable because of Zorua’s illusion ability
Fantastic video as always, Finn! I actually already knew about the Ghost-type being able to run away in any wild encounter under any circumstance, but that was the only one. These facts are so interesting! Keep up the great work! :D
I feel like every type other than water should miss more often when clearly fighting in water (like surfing, fishing, or the floaty thing that appears when you throw a Pokemon in water in PLA)
On other type possibilities: Fire types could get rid of the Frozen condition in your party after a battle, Electric types could turn a rainstorm into an ambient thunderstorm, Fighting types could decrease the base friendship of a Pokemon you encounter, Poison types could ward off Grass types...there are so many possibilities, from useful things to flavorful things.
after the diglett encounter stuff you said "I wish they still cared about adding these type of things" - except they do. don't let ur nostalgia get you confused. legends arceus has clefairies dancing on nights of the full moon as a ref to the HGSS dancing event, vaporeon in SV dissolving away as a reference to the pokedex saying it can evaporate, pincurchin hiding under wild Wugtrio's, zoroark/ditto imitating other pokemon in the wild in SV, lycaroc dusk being able to found in the wild when the sky is orange. all the games still have soul, its just gen's 1-4 hit harder cause you were probably 10 and had no clue what was going on.
I knew about the ghost type thing because of it being used in PokeMMO. It's great for amulet coin hunting in those games. Edit: Pokerus speedrun, I got rus moments after I got to goldenrod in a romhack that keeps normal rus odds. Edit again: I knew about the friendship boost.
Oh man I always noticed that about N's text speed! I'd always wondered if it was the developers way of saying: _"Yeah, this guy grew up with wild Pokémon- totally isolated from the rest of society- and has no idea how to communicate with people."_
3:20 makes so much sense to me now, recently started to play some of the mainline games and I was genuinely confused why I always had a 100% chance of escaping
The Shiny Costume segment for Battle Revolution was SO cool! Omg… I absolutely love this game even more now. I hope that one day they’ll make Pokémon games as good as Battle Revolution again
Dude I need more of these. I know that you take your time to investigate and bring this videos, but they're so good that I want MORE haha. I hope you're doing great Phin!

You can?
@@judgementbird2248 I don’t know how common it is, but yeah, I ordered a juice drink and then Spinda was like “that patron over there sends you this gift” and it pans over to a Pupitar, then pans back and tells me I got an egg.
@@epsreborn9718 Damn that Pupitar literally just handed you its firstborn child in appreciation. Mystery Dungeon is wild.

@@howling_starr I'll see if it indeed hatches into Larvitar to confirm if this hilarious scenario is indeed the case, then get back to you if and when that happens.
The Yellow Rival fact is an oddly well known one for this series
I didn't know that. I remember always getting jolteon (I didn't even know you could progress if you lose to him), I once read that he evolves his eevee based on your highest level pokemon at one point in the game, but thinking about it now it does not make much sense.
I didn't know about that but I did know about the ghosts escaping, safari zone IVs, berry juice, friendship boost, and diglett spawn rates.
Wow the friendship boost and the unova alternative location are so cool. Never heard of either before. Thanks for the shout out, glad more people will know about the safari and bcc mechanic
Now to get gible to spawn there....
I swear my bulbasaur on my last red play through had a 90% dodge rate abasing powder moves
And dark-types have a secret advantage of their own. Dark-types are immune to any move whose priority is boosted by Prankster.
+1 to algorithm.
@@gizoginjr Except that was added later on
@@Goldencat44 in Pokemon Red, all NPC's have a far higher chance of missing with status moves than actual players.
This is a very good theory but sadly i think it will never be fleshed out,
To add to the theory: Goldenrod is the largest city in Johto. Was the virus brought over from Kanto by train? Was it developed in a secret lab Underground? So many possible theories...
Realistically I think the reason you can't get it until Goldenrod is because they don't want new players to get it so early and get confused
the first time i got pokerus I got it on that route right before goldenrod
I was doing Emerald on an Emulator I think and I recall my pokemon getting PokeRus during my playthrough on it.
The “Ghost types can always flee” thing has actually existed since generation 6 🙂
@Mr Stu Deeoh same, I only found out about it because I was able to run from a super high leveled mon with a baby Litwick while flying on Lati@s in ORAS
For real dang
And the change has been listed on Bulbapedia ever since it was introduced, so I'm not entirely sure why he thought it was obscure OR recent.
@@TheEmeraldWeirdo never heard of it
yeah i was confused too thanks for confirming! >:)
Bro the shiny costumes being so rare and almost never found and some still not found after all this time is so so so badass. It's the essence of exploration and human perseverance.

Another fun fact about encountering the box legendary at Dragonspiral in Black and White: I remember reading that they aren't shiny locked anymore at that location, allowing you to bypass the lock if you are up to the task of completely filling your boxes.
I remember that rumor - and some poor souls doing resets - but I believe they are confirmed to still be locked.
It is not possible to get them shiny in Dragonspiral, at least not on my German Pokemon White Version
That Shuckle fact is one of my favorite things in any Pokémon game, and for years I thought it was a) step based and b) in games outside of Gen II.
I'm almost convinced it works in FRLG/E but that's probably just a false memory
probably because it's common for wild shuckles to have berry juice as a held item
This was in a player's guide I had as kid. I also remember an NPC talking about berry juice and Shuckle as well.
Don't forget that some of its pokedex entries say that stores berries in its shell only to eventually turn Into juice
Doesn't help that gen 3 had a berry juice minigame. Iirc the Morimoto NPC from USUM mentions designing Shuckle in one of his comments and suggests something happens if you let it hold a berry as a reference.
Watching these videos makes me sad that there’s only a finite amount of obscure facts that eventually will end
14:16, something like 20 years ago a friend of mine claimed that his togepi evolved at like level 9 or 10. This explains it. I guess he trained it where it hatched..
And I remembered a former friend of mine saying that he got his Riolu to evolve before the first gym in BW2.
old era >2000
It's also possible to raise friendship by just walking around with the Pokémon in your party, without it having to battle. On my most recent playthrough of Silver, I kept the level 5 Togepi in my party until I decided to finally give it some EXP late in the game with the EXP Share item, and it evolved at level 6.
As an old guy I like how many 2nd gen facts there were. Also woah about the shiny costumes…😮
I had always known about the alternate color costumes but I didn't think they'd be legitimate shinies in a way.

Yeah!

The thing I love the most about it vids are the closing monologues. You always find a way to make them hit. Keep up the great work
I already knew about the evee evolution mechanic (it's actually explained in a lot of places, just never as a trivia) and the 'alternate ending', but the others were mind blowing.
I knew about the suckle one, but I didn't know it was gen 2 exclusive (an episode in the anime was centered around the mechanic, so it wasn't particularly unheard of at the time).
That’s so cool how N can talk to specific Pokémon you have in your party! It makes sense for the zouroua; I wonder how many others he’ll speak to
There's a list of all the Pokemon you can catch that are N's in bw2 and with the memory link you could play through the game with his Pokemon. Not just zoroara or darmanitan. It's all the Pokemon he released into the wild after the encounters with the player in bw
@@mattarium9408 yeah you had a 1/100 chance to encounter N's pokemon's in certain areas and I'm pretty sure they would flash when encountered

But, there’s also less obvious ones, grass being immune to powder moves, and rock’s special defense being boosted in a sandstorm.
interesting!
Psychic terrain only prevents priority moves if the targeted pokemon is grounded. If the enemy is a flying-type or has levitate, they can still be hit with priority
All of that sounds more like common knowledge or atleast for competitive players, the ghost one is alot more under the radar
@@ActualCatfish All terrain effects only affect grounded pokemon. So flying/levitating mons also won't heal from grassy terrain, stay awake on electric terrain, etc.
Dark Types aren't effected by Status Moves that are coming from an opposing Pokémon with the Ability Prankster.

It's weird how I tend to find pokerus sooner than getting a random shiny in most games I've played🤔
In a playthrough of pokemon pearl I got pokerus right after the first gym
I've gotten pokerus twice, once on an emulator playing Emerald and, more recently, during my nuzlocke run of Brilliant Diamond. Ended up finding it around Jubilife if I recall correctly.
I got pokerus and I don’t even know where or when
True! I've gotten pokerus quite a few times and ive barely encountered any shinies. I think ive encountered 1 legitly in my 25 years of playing
"Tend to find" 💀
Having played every single game, many multiple times, and never using repels, I have never found a full-odds shiny (not counting games like Legends where finding shinies is significantly easier), _but_ I found a Pokerus pokemon ironically while chain fishing in X/Y
Hey, fellow autistic people! How are you guys doing?
I love that little inclusion of the Flying Lotus (The intro from Aqua TV Show Show) in the intro bit. ❤️
I was caught very off-guard by it
Itd be nice if Sunny Day had an effect on Diglett if they continue with the weakness to sunlight.. itd be great if they took into account specific pokedex facts and applied them to gameplay
Yeah, like the fact Munna is supposed to have Levitate or Abra is supposed to have Comatose (Komala's Ability) according to Pokedex Entries
I feel like the perfect way to do that would be to give them Solar Power or some unique hidden ability like it. They get some kinda boost in return for being damaged by sunlight at the end of each turn.
@@JR384 Dry Skin would be really good as well.
Maybe too good actually...
@@shytendeakatamanoir9740 I would've suggested that over Solar Power if not for the fact that Dry Skin comes with the beneficial effect of being healed in the Rain.
It'd be a bit strange if a Pokemon weak to Water moves was able to be healed by Rain.
@@JR384 And also healed by Water moves, which is pretty OP
The Ghost type being able to escape from any battle explains, how in my Ghost type only run through of Shield, I can always escape from the enemy pokemon, even if the pokemon is double my level. Neat!
I remember having the battle revolution guide and seeing the shiny outfits. I had no clue it was pretty much its own shiny hunt
Also Bug types should be immune to confusion since they lack an inner ear, so they keep track of what they’re doing.
You mean psychic types?
@dr.cortex4157 yea!
Dark types are immune to all Prankster moves, which is marginally useful in competitive but rarely ever comes up
I wouldn't go saying "I wish they still added little details like such and such..." because of both how long it takes for these sorts of things to be found and how much you have to dig to find them for these videos (Which are great, keep up the good work). You really never know when it comes to these things.
Love this series dude. Keep it going. I’m proud of myself for knowing the fact about the rivals starter choice in yellow. Played that a lot as a kid!
The shiny trainers is truly the stuff of legends that comes once in a lifetime.

Didn't have the same feeling you did with N... I saw him as an NPC who was always late, and was always rushing everywhere
i actually knew the eevee evolution thing before but its because i looked into it because i was curious. i think its a neat way to make things easier or harder on the player to have pikachu's electric attacks be resisted, neutral, or super effective on the respective eeveeluton.
The Diglett cave mechanic REALLY explains a lot about my experience. I never knew!
You may be my favorite pokemon content creator. I'm loving the direction and emphasis on interaction. Keep it up.
In Pokemon Masters, one of the dialogue options you can choose of interest while talking to N is "people who Speak quickly" :)
Holy frick
It's wild to know that you've already made 12 of these! To think, there are that many secrets that even real intense fans don't know always about
Keep up the incredible work
Ooh the Shuckle thing is a reference to it’s anime episode! Their shells were used to make berry juice. Or maybe the episode is a nod to this little game detail lol. Either way it’s a cute mechanic
The ghost & escape thing is actually really cool. I actually didn't know!
Amazing content as always Phin! That last fact was fireeee!
The patience of shiny hunters is very impressive! These hidden mechanics were cool!
Wow, 120k! Your channel is growing fast man. Congratulations!
Literally binged all your obscure facts video's this afternoon and loved every second of it. Subscribed and gonna lurk around for a bit longer
Yeah the Crystal guidebook I have mentions it as well, I'm pretty sure.
This was such a cool watch! I actually knew about the ones regarding N, the Rival's choice, the Shuckle thing, and the friendship bonus, but I didn't know about the rest! This is the same kind of nitty gritty stuff I love most!
Just amazing.
It’s always a treat for me whenever you do another edition of these.
Bravo!
Thank you for continuing to watch Stephen!
Adding to the shuckle tidbit, if you keep having it hold the berry juice, it’ll eventually turn into rare candy.
That's true. I used to grind with a shuckle in Crystal for just that reason. I guess he didn't stumble on that part of the mechanic.
Not sure why so many people are upvoting this or why someone agreed with it, because the rare candy thing is just a myth and was never actually true.
Fantastic video as always, Finn! I actually already knew about the Ghost-type being able to run away in any wild encounter under any circumstance, but that was the only one. These facts are so interesting! Keep up the great work! :D
I think most competitive players know this one
OK, that shiny costume hunt is brutal.
I feel like every type other than water should miss more often when clearly fighting in water (like surfing, fishing, or the floaty thing that appears when you throw a Pokemon in water in PLA)
Love the mechanic that lets you have a pokemon with flame body in your party and it helps you hatch eggs in half the time!
6:50 I love this mechanic because it subtly shows that Blue learns from his battles
Wearing Pokémon suits that could be shinny would’ve been such a good mechanic!
lol one of the most skipped sections of the video is the love letter to N
Surprised to see the yello rival evo fact. Maybe as an old school player I thought it was pretty common knowledge.
When the world needed him most, he vanished...
You’re consistently the only creator who brings me new facts I don’t already know. This is my favorite video series!
Dude I need more of these. I know that you take your time to investigate and bring this videos, but they're so good that I want MORE haha. I hope you're doing great Phin!
Where’d you go bro?
I like that Ape Escape music featured in the background of this one 🤟
This video wasn't bad, it just wasn't as exciting as the others in the series for some reason. The facts were really obscure but they lacked that "wow" factor tbh
