- Tutorial covering my work flow on the EP-133. I hope you find it helpful. It was off the cuff & unscripted but I think I covered all of the bases. If not, I'll make a part 2.
Let me know if you have any further questions. Go create! Spread love & knowledge! Peace!

Hey Louie, at 19:10 when you erased the pattern, did you know that you can just hold A and press "+" to step to a different pattern for "A" (or any group). You can also hold "A" and press numbers to select the pattern that you want. I have been making patterns for each group and then stepping through them to see what fits.
Hey! I was aware of being able to change patterns that way but I just got in the habit of doing it as shown here. Definitely good advice though. I’ll pin this comment for others to see! Thanks
Louie with the workflow video of our dreams. Thanks for coming through on this one 🔥 incredible reference for any KO2 user!
I’m humbled bro. Thank you!!

Thank you! I’ve got more of these on the way
In depth and made me 10000% better with the thing already. Thank you so much for this dude.

Louiewiththapen the goat, thank you for this bro
for sure homie!
This is the type of KO tutorial that I needed. Drum kit purchased. Both as a way to say thanks and because I like the drums.
Thank you! I appreciate the support. I’m glad you found it useful!
Yo Louie, your beats are awesome. Thank you for these tips, Fr fr thank you very much. You answered a bunch of questions I had about sampling on the KO2. I really hope you keep putting out content, your channel is bound to blow up if you keep putting out bangers. I wish you all the best.
I truly appreciate the support and encouragement! I’m happy to help. I’ll definitely keep at it. Thank you!
Love you stuff dude!
Thank you!
@@louiewithapen would love to see some of your stuff of Spotify man. I can’t tell you the amount of times I’ve just pulled up your K.O beat 9 video and just jammed to it. Would love to have it on Spotify!!
@@maxlingenfelter that’s awesome! I’m glad you really dig the song. I’ve considered putting my beats on Spotify and streaming platforms but since they contain samples of other songs it may trigger a copyright issue. I’ll have to try it and see though!
Very helpful, thank you so much. And also dope beat !
You’re very welcome! Happy beat making!
I don’t got a KO 2, but this was fun to watch. You’re one of the best i’ve seen.
Thank you! I appreciate you watching
Best tutorial on the KO so far. I'm off to use your drums and sidechain hack. Thank you 🙏
Appreciate it! I’m glad you found it useful. Go make some heat 🔥🔥🔥

Dope tip with the "sidechain" effect!
Appreciate it!
Dope video 🙏

Commenting for the algorithm
Waiting for my KO. I'm interested in your pack once it arrives.
Congrats on buying one. I think you’ll really dig it!
Mine arrived today DOA. There's no power with new batteries installed or with USB. I guess I'll be waiting a little longer. 😢
@@leannemiller9514 that’s terrible. Sorry to hear that. Hopefully they make it right and send you a new unit quickly!
I thought I'd continue my story in case anyone is wondering about TE customer service. Ordered 1/26, arrived 1/31, and reported defective 1/3. TE contacted me 2/2 with a form request so I can return the unit. I'm currently waiting for return instructions. My unit was shipped from TE in New Jersey. Their voice mailbox is full and I've been unable to reach anyone. My suggestion is to email TE directly from their site. My unit was purchased from TE. Stay tuned.
How do you set the count in and also how to set how many bars you want?
you could use the fader to pitch the entire sample group but that might cause some unforeseen issues when performing live. Personally I want as little shit as possible on the fader..
I’ll have to try that out. But agreed. I want to use the fader as little as possible to avoid any damage or glitches
FYI, the tempo you are tapping is double the speed of what the tempo of the sample actually is. Snare hits are usually on the 2 and 4 (counting as 1, 2, 3, 4) and the kicks are on 1 and 3. This makes more sense with not “racing” with the speed and keeping everything within a smooth layout.
Just some knowledge from a drummer. Dope beat!!!!🥁🔥
When you’re pitching the sample to get each pad to match in pitch, each pad has a different #-Pitch or does that mean something else. A lil confusing
How did you keep the ko2 on the sampling page (with the pads blinking) after recording the first chop? Immediately after I record 1 chop, my pads stop blinking. Thanks for the tutorial and dope beats 🔥
That’s strange. I haven’t had that issue before. My pads stay blinking to show the empty slots. Do you have space available to record additional samples? Maybe your slots are filled to capacity
This track is 🔥 .. when you hit shift + commit does it bake in the effect + automation?
Thank you! That I’m not sure about. I apply my FX on the fly while playing the song back and recording it into Ableton.
The way I’m using commit here is just to commit the scene and pattern to the KO II’s memory
I’m wondering the same thing- only one way to find out…
What kind of a stand is that?
KO II Stand Case by Fanboy! You can buy it here www.etsy.com/listing/1614573372/ko-ii-stand-case-by-fanboy
Dope!! I subbed and liked!!
Did you delete the factory sounds ?
@@crisantosantaana I appreciate you! Yes, I deleted the stock sounds and uploaded my own drum kit. You can download it at this link if interested!
louiewithapen.gumroad.com/l/lwapkit?layout=profile
Awesome, many thanks!
You’re welcome 🙏
you feed groups A and B into the same compressor?
Yes! You assign the fader to FX on Group A (or wherever you have your samples grouped) and apply 100%, then assign Group B (drum group) fader to FX and apply 60-80%, whatever sounds good to you.
I then reassign my Group B (drums) fader to volume and turn it to 100%. I also turn the volume of my individual kick up. And adjust my Group A (samples) volume to around 40-50%. And you’ll have the side chain ducking sound 🦆
Also, on the CMP fx screen you can adjust the Drive (left knob) and the Attack (right knob) of the compressor. Turn your Attack knob all the way down to the left to get heavy ducking
@@louiewithapen so sick, gonna sell my op-z to buy the ko2
Where'd you get that K.O. stand from??
I bought it here!
www.etsy.com/listing/1614573372/ko-ii-stand-case-by-fanboy
@@louiewithapen thanks but idk...I've had three BAD experiences with Etsy...I've vowed to never do business with them etc again .lol
U should drop a sample pack
I dropped a drum kit! Link in the video description
Dope track, though I feel the drums were overpowering the whole mix. Bring the level down of the kicks, too bassy imo. Also, the samples are fire, just need a bit more trimming to get the right sounds in place. The real mastery comes from knowing when and how to apply effects/transitions. Overall 8/10 track 🔥
Noted! The tutorial and beat in this example were made on a whim. Will definitely have to prepare better next time
I didn’t think this was a video about sample execution mastery, but more so about workflow concepts- I respectfully disagree with the homie and I’m going for 10 out of 10 on this one myself! I’d rather have a masterful tutorial on workflow than the kick amp dialed in…
