This thing is wild!
As a big MPC fan and a Teenage engineering fan, this thing takes all the great things about both platforms and puts them in one of the most beautiful enclosures and designs i've ever seen.

JUST FYI:
The hissing you hear at the beginning is not related to the EP-133 in any way. this was a ground loop issue with my recording device.
The USB cable is crossing over the headphone cable causing that hiss. Use USB cables with fat rubber cylinder on one end (sorry forgot the name, but you seen them).
@@ILLGREEN1 It could be it, but ground loop issues are a lot more complex than that. See how XLR cables have a ground (3 pins) and jack cables don't?? Well... what happen is the ground always come back to heart. So if it tries following the linear path but that path is broken by something that isn't grounded (2 pins PSU like for a laptop, or even just an insert jack connected to a pedal connected to a powerstrip so not grounded), the ground will come back to it's point of origin indefinitely, thus creating a ground loop. Ideally everything would be grounded, but that's impossible in audio. Commercial studio facilities have a different electricity rail for their equipment and one for lamps, fridges, etc because you can pick up buzz from any appliances. But it's still a good advice to get shielded USB cables fosho :)

@@jas_bataille thanks for that detailed response! Interesting, I build circuits for electric guitars and making a clean ground is priority to me. I find using my guitar rig with lithium battery packs instead of the outlets at home, make a noiseless experience.

Apparently some sliders have gone bad on these units. Maybe it’s because they are damaging the sliders by pressing too hard to get the knob on?
It's that and the fact the box is really snug. I took delivery of one yesterday and the fader was broken right out of the box. You can actually see pressure marks on the outside of the inner box cover, so many are being broken in transit.
I get mine Tues. You were super happy, man, and it just made me smile right along with you. Also, you dodged a bullet, man. People are destroying their cross faders with all the pressure they are having to apply to the slider knob.

Is it possible to back up the project? (tansfer to PC or usb)
Is the noise coming from your cable/setup or does it hum that bad on its own?

Mine was a batch 2 shipping. And came in a box with padding and not in a plastic bag like this dude’s. Mine works perfectly. Go figure. And the fader had a black notch already on it. So, didn’t even need the fader knob they provided.
thanks for sharing! how do you export project from this machine? do you use the usb c or do you have to manually record it into your daw using the audio interface?
manually record. there is no audio output on usb unfortunately

I have the same problem: the slider does not respond after a few hours and the usb power supply always produces interference and noise.
NGL I first thought “whoa, I didn’t know Ricochet was not only a wrestler, but also a beat maker!” 😂 congrats, that looks sweet AF. Mine comes in Tuesday, this makes me want it even faster 😊

it really is a beautiful piece of kit. Quick question - can you tell me if you can sample something live while a beat is playing or do you have to stop the beat, sample and then add it to the sequence? Thanks!

I tested and yea.. you can't go into the sampling page if the sequence is running. you have to stop it to go into sampling
@@256k_ awww shoot. why TE? why! Really was hoping you could have a beat going and jam over it with an external piece of gear and sample it in real time. Thanks for checking on that!

hahah that was before i knew fadergate was a thing! this is probably the first ever video showing fader gate on youtube. thankfully i managed to take it apart and fix it myself. but it was not a very enjoyable experience
@@256k_ mine arrived this morning, packaging was fine, no signs of crushing or damage. First thing I checked was the fader. Dead out of the box. Everything else is working as intended. Still annoying though, I guess it's going back first thing next week.
Use a pair of tweezers to hold the part on the fader up when you go to pop it on.

Nice! I got mine as well. Does your fader move/wiggle a little side to side? Mine works well, but it doesn't feel super solid, especially since it shakes a little side to side. Wondering if it’s just mine.

I had the same tightness with the fader knob
did you notice any issues with the fader? mine seems to be inconsistent / unresponsive at times.
@@256k_ I haven't noticed that. But there was a new update released yesterday if you haven't updated it yet.
Some people are having issues with the fader. It might be because it gets damaged by how hard it is to put the button on.

no no!!! this is because of a groundloop issue with the device i was recording with. has nothing to do with the EP-133 don't worry :D

How do the buttons feel to use? That's the only thing that concerns me after watching demos, they seem a little loud too

Thank you! The buttons feel nice but they are mechanical buttons so obviously expect them to feel like mechanical buttons and not pads. The velocity and pressure sensitivity feel a bit different I guess it’ll just need some adjustment to get it right and get used to it. I never felt 2 devices that felt exactly the same with velocity and pressure so it’s normal

yeah that's seemingly the case... tested it more thoroughly and there's definitely something wrong with it.

I haven't noticed this issue. But I updated to the latest version before I used it.
@@256k_ That's unfortunate. In that case, the fader also behaves like this on other parameters? I'd get in contact with TE, they will most likely help to resolve this case.

I think velocity sensitivity is in the bottom half of the pads.
All pad are velocity sensitive

The bottom of the pad is pressure sensitive, the whole pad is velocity sensitive
