Ruprect44 That's fair. The way I see it it's like comparing Stevie Ray Vaughn and Eric Clapton in the world of guitar playing. Both amazing and almost impossible to distinguish if one is better.
I love that how, arguably the greatest rock singer of all time, is so humble...that he doesn't believe in intimidation and wants to support other musicians...when the majority of those who have any degree of music stardom and have a tenth of his talent and walk around like they're gods.
this is one of the most relaxed plant interviews, and one of the best i have seen. i think robert knew he was amongst 'family'. the interviewer and the fans respect and love him.
still love this guy...his music is one of the few bands that stood up, and is still as good today as it was when he first started recording. Don't care how he's aged, hell, I've aged too...grew up on Led Zep, glad he's still around to chat about things...any things.
Great interview. Robert is so funny and charming. He's never taken himself seriously and he's always got a quick comeback to the questions. He is a rock/blues legend as are Led Zeppelin.
He is a beautiful man...whoa. I love his music Led Zeppelin through Band of Joy. I watch every interview with him. He is smart, funny, and has the most amazing voice.
Robert Plant is a fucking god period. when he talks. you cant help but completely focus and listin to what he has to say and take in every experiance and story he has, and for a lead singer he has little to no ego. great man and great singer. amazing.
mmm....I LOVE Robert Plant!I have for 27 yrs now. He gets better with age (much like myself lol) he is the only celeb/star on this planet i would do anything to meet. He's sexy,smart,charming,talented,enchanting..i could go on 4ever. wish he would come to portland, maine i'd die just to look into his eyes and see him smile for just 5 mins,I'd be all done! that is my life wish to know this man. Why don't these interviews ever mention fate of nations? that's my fave but i love all his work
least this guy didnt do the standard , "when are you going to get back with jimmy page?" or "how did it feel to write stairway to heaven" questions, this guy actually came across like he knew what he was talking about
@babystinky George is very good at what he does. He puts every guest at ease and that allows them to be themselves. He also asks some damn good questions.
For what reason? Myself,i think he does an excellent job.He does his homework (research). One of the most important things is he seems to make the person he's interviewing comfortable. When anybody is being interviewed they're nervous, even the biggest stars that are "used to it".George has the hardest job,he has to keep the person he's interviewing interested as well as the audience (thats where the research comes in). There are a lot of whats you're favorite colour talk show hosts that i do hate.
@AwesomeBeatles acording to plant bonham jones & page its the best thing they ever put together ! & they put together alot of the best stuf out there ! great interviiew/great answers by plant !
Robert came into a bar i was working at and sat down at the end of my counter we chatted for quite awile he just done a concert accross the street in Edmonton Forum Inn My Dancers came up to me with there tunes and he could`nt believe that they were daning for me he thought I WAS THE LUCKIEST GUY HE EVER MET - the crowd did`nt even know he was there till I told them after he was gone what a cool guy A little bit stiff but still I got his chicken scratch he drank his beers tipped me a $ 5 & left.
He is a most amazing guy. I wish Elvis Presley spent more time with him in the 70's then he did with the losers in his company. Imagine if they both worked on some song's together. Would have been great.
thanks. totally didn't know that at all. Had no idea who the fuck Robert Plant was i just randomly typed in a name that i want to name my goldfish into youtube and this popped up.
i didn't got that too. But my guess is it's a joke about the placement of testicals inside the tight trousers. from yahoo ask n answer : What does it mean to "Dress to the left/right?" "This refers to tailor made mens trousers. The 'dangly bits' tend to rest either to the left or the right, so instead of asking the customer which direction they hang, the tailors came up with a nice little euphomism."
I`ve had mega Hockey players Grant Fuhr & Mark Messier came all the time to my tap Lots of wrestlers -Andre the giant was the funniest he pinned a young dancer to the stage with his big hand & told her she`s to young and should`nt be doing this Eskimo players Rod connup Marko Syncar , for just a few .
Absolutely nice enough guy like I say a little stiff , I did`nt want to have the whole bar barage him while he just finished a show accross the street .I got slapped from my bar maids because I did`nt tell them he was there he walked into my end like he worked there they were more busy getting ready for the rush of the crowds comming , he`s not the only Celeb. I`ve had at my Shooter bar .thanks for commenting .
well they never used to use hairgel or anything like this, so their hair is still in good condition. all rock stars have awsome hair from the 70's , 80's
What a guy it was funny I served him a large bottle of Beausoliel wine he drank that like those small soda pops from yrs ago couple guzzles got him another he drank it then as he was watching the young girl on stage he stood lifted his nuts over the back of the chair pinned her down by hand (she freaked) crowd went dead quiet he said your to young to be doing this threw his hand up to say good bye to me as thanks , Then the crowd and left ;Then a week later he had passed away Geez I felt bad .
Why is Plants response: "Stones!" to the question: "Beatles or Stones?" the correct response ? How can the creativity and dynamics of the Beatles be trumped by the Stones ? I dont get it.
softhotty Stay with me on this...... IMHO - It simply comes down to the fact that the Beatles were all vying for top billing, both in the charts and internally. Can't blame them for that. BUT, Zep was a united band of four and the Beatles were a group of four separate individuals. That in itself created too much drama in the Beatles, which always had an arterial motive other than straight ahead growth and passion for the music and placed more emphasis on "Look what I just did. Aren't I fabulous and better than you on this go-round?" Interchange John and Paul's names on that one on any given day. The Beatles broke up because of the internal conflicts and power struggles. Where Zep were always striving to break new ground and charge on. Plant's nod to the Stones is a gesture to say we recognize you guys too were straight ahead rockers. Like Zeppelin (music) first, personalities second. All of the musicians I play(ed) with who say Zep over the Beatles, all get it.
RPMX4 Thankyou for an explanation that well, I think makes some sense. So, basically...the music world certainly doesn't deny the greatness and certainly the relevance of the music written by the fab four. It's just that, John and Paul were perceived as conceded and throw in some jealousy and you get something like a R. Plant responding to the question Beatles or Stones with a Stones reply. I get it now. Thank you RPMX4.
It has always been and , apparently, continues to be seen or perceived as the "cooler" thing . Sometimes, as ridiculous as it may seem , for no other reason than the name of the band Shortening "The Rolling Stones" and being able to say Yeah, the "Stones", man. as opposed to the cute and cuddly "Beatles" - mustn't be seen to be too "into" something that makes so many people so happy. Yup, humans can be this silly.
fucking george, i love his interviews but he sits so god damn close to his guests, if i was plant i would be like, get outta my face and sit back a little buddy.
you can tell he is not a snob and the celebrity did not get to him, and so good to see him laughing and his answers are classics, legend and humble,
greatest rock vocalist of all time. great range and a voice like a whip
My vote goes to Freddie Mercury with Mr Plant a VERY close second.
he is one of the best vocalist of all time
Ruprect44 That's fair. The way I see it it's like comparing Stevie Ray Vaughn and Eric Clapton in the world of guitar playing. Both amazing and almost impossible to distinguish if one is better.
Greatest front man of all time. Absolutely no question about it at all
... the legend... Just amazing to listen to whatever he has to say
Ian Anderson clears
I love that how, arguably the greatest rock singer of all time, is so humble...that he doesn't believe in intimidation and wants to support other musicians...when the majority of those who have any degree of music stardom and have a tenth of his talent and walk around like they're gods.
The real deal - Plant is very articulate, grounded, on top of any questions! Great voice, artist, handsome.
The mighty Robert Plant ...
Fascinating man. Amazing Voice. Few like him nowadays...
Таких нет и не будет! Плант единственный и неповторимый!
this is one of the most relaxed plant interviews, and one of the best i have seen. i think robert knew he was amongst 'family'. the interviewer and the fans respect and love him.

I saw the Band of Joy around 67 68 twice in he one week....Changed my whole direction in music..Thank you Robert Plant
Man George is such a great interviewer...
As noted below, along with Freddy Mercury, probably one of the greatest rock vocalists to date.
I love how Robert Plant uses Tolkein in his lyrics
Great interview ... Enjoyed watching that.
So sweet and such a good talker. A joy to listen to.
What a genuinely nice bloke Robert is

Everyone in the band is at the top of their game for that song and all the changes just kick ass! I don't see how someone couldn't like it!

Just as epic now as he was 30 years ago!
least this guy didnt do the standard , "when are you going to get back with jimmy page?" or "how did it feel to write stairway to heaven" questions, this guy actually came across like he knew what he was talking about
Plant is my virtuoso of vocal masterdom thats it x
I think plant is such a humbled man because he realized selling his soul for fame was a mistake and is now living in the most humble way to make up
Led Zeppelin have arguably influenced *every* rock band ever since their formation.
Great interview.
Nothing better than that intro ;)
Robert Plant IS rock and roll.
This is the textbook perfect interview, IMO.
:D cool. i wish i was there, andre the giant is one of my fav wrestrler
Gotta love the Zep; gotta love Mr. Plant. :D

Robert give props to theClash -Amen Brother!
@babystinky George is very good at what he does. He puts every guest at ease and that allows them to be themselves. He also asks some damn good questions.
Robert Plant should be included in Unesco's World Heritage list.
He should do movies! or a reality show watching him cook and living the old skool life!
My Beautiful boy !! Xxxx

Didn't realize Union Station didn't have a percussionist. Plant seems a good chat, good to have a few brews with.
Robert Plant, un dos unico...
i've never seen George sit so closely to a guest, notice how he pulls his chair up at the beginning
@AwesomeBeatles acording to plant bonham jones & page its the best thing they ever put together !

Nice
Waiting to sing yes!!!
At the Pantheon , he is next to Jim Morisson and Mick Jagger
Alkomp75 what about Freddie Mercury
He is a most amazing guy. I wish Elvis Presley spent more time with him in the 70's then he did with the losers in his company. Imagine if they both worked on some song's together. Would have been great.
he is not is son though, so your correction is invalid.
i was simply drawing the comparison, i did not mention age.
I always thought that Robert Plant had something to do with Pink Floyd.
This interviewer is really great at what he does. As interesting as Plant is, I can only imagine how well he'd tease material out of Jimmy Page.
@CheapSushi why? I've only seen him on youtube, but why is a DB?
seriously, listen to any Zeppelin album and listen to how many times Plant says "baby".
10:28 Try dressing it to the left?....I don't get it
Its about tight trousers, with limited space.
Check out the lyrics to Kashmir. The best lyrics, maybe the best song ever.
@gi624 because hes the king
"When I was seventeen I thought I could change the world."
Robert Plant
Those were the days.

The Beatles is the right answer.

Was a super job i had met all kinds of celebrities , Hunters Motto-- hang around the water hole they will come to drink ,Thanks
What's he mean by "dress to the right" ?
I`ve had mega Hockey players Grant Fuhr & Mark Messier came all the time to my tap Lots of wrestlers -Andre the giant was the funniest he pinned a young dancer to the stage with his big hand & told her she`s to young and should`nt be doing this Eskimo players Rod connup Marko Syncar , for just a few .

The best Stones was with the under-rated Taylor.
"Try dress to the right"? Did I understood him correctly? :D
tell that to their bank accounts and record sales
well they never used to use hairgel or anything like this, so their hair is still in good condition. all rock stars have awsome hair from the 70's , 80's

Should of thrown out the notes George. His career isn't that obscure. He's talkative too. Go with the flow.......=)

The stones are so heavy the Beatles were fluff
Strombo is a great interviewer, him leaning forward is a little off-putting for me though but I have boundary issues..stay outta my bubble lol
u r lucky. haha why wouldnt they slap? haha nyway thanks for sharing!
Haha I knew that, guess it had to do with the bulge in 'The Song Remains the Same'
What does that have to do with anything?
he looks a lot like Guthrie Govan!
@MrMrtiki im sooo jealous
Kim Kardashian is not a Rock God that for the most part started the Classic Rock genre.
Robert Plant is King Theoden. lol
Yaşını hiç göstermiyor lan bu adam. Severdim ve severim de
god Robert looks like a goat with the beard
Surely, surely, you didn't ask Robert Plant if Nashville natives were familiar and receptive to Plant and Zeppelin. Holy shitty stereotyping, Batman!
fucking george, i love his interviews but he sits so god damn close to his guests, if i was plant i would be like, get outta my face and sit back a little buddy.
10:20 hahahahaha
