Ya it’s to bad that Steven Adler was just so far gone and burnt out that when GnR went out on that enormous tour a few years back they thought he just wasn’t ready to go out and play the set every night. But at least he got to play a couple times on the tour. It was just sad because he really practiced a lot to try and get his chops back up but it just didn’t work out lol
Strombo is the best host I've seen, always genuine and interesting and asks interesting questions. We don't have any one like him in the UK at the moment.
Well tbh most people don’t try. Slash isn’t necessary lucky. He used to spend nearly 12 hours a day playing a guitar in his teens. Most people won’t ever try to do that because it’s “too hard” Slash sacrificed a lot and it payed off. He didn’t get lucky.
You think luck was all it was? U think he was just handed his dream and this amazing life? This is a guy who spent most of his youth homeless and penniless. Why do so many musicians develop alcohol or drug problems? B/c that’s how desperate and hopeless things get when playing your own music is all you wanna do. There’s a lot of idle existential time and it gets to a point where getting fucked up is the only way to deal with yourself. You’re choosing to live this hard life as a destitute couch surfer hoping that someday maybe a record company throws you a life line. These are guys who were willing to die as junkies and alcoholic nobodies in pursuit of a mythical rockstar dream that they think will make their lives better and solve all their problems but actually warped their entire reality and made their lives a whole lot worse. this rockstar dream almost killed him 3 times. The only luck I see is that he actually lived through and overcame all of that shit to still be able to support himself doing his own thing today and he managed to find 3 musicians and 1 psychotic singer that just so happened to have such amazing musical chemistry together. But he fucking paid for it. He earned it and a life that looks perfect and glamorous will never feel perfect or glamorous when you’re the one who has to live it.
This would have to be my favorite Slash interview I've seen out there. Being Aussie, I haven't seen this show or interviewer before, but damn, that was fantastic. Slash IS THEE most coolest person on the planet and the coolest that will ever be. I don't envy anyone more. What can I say.....I just get a buzz out of everything Slash does......he is the package. If Slash could read this, I wish I could just say thank you for existing and keeping a legendary status whilst being humble and keeping it real.
I play a Les Paul Gibson and going back 20 odd years :) I remember wanting one because of Slash, great guitars!! when it comes to rock!! the Les Paul really has the BALLS
thanks! that was really good. not the usual stupid questions that everyone seems to ask over and over again. i could listen to Slash talk for the rest of my life. he's such a real guy, he's awesome!
If you haven't already, you really should pick up a copy of his book "Slash". Even if you don't really like him, you'll like the book, it's pretty good. I think he should write more. Oh, and Duff's book, "Its so easy...and other lies" is really good too!
Never liked Guns n' Roses (really I just can't stand Axl's voice), but Slash always seemed like a really sincere, chill dude to me. I liked Velvet Revolver, too. I will certainly check his book out! I don't doubt he's had an interesting time of it, to say the least.
Mychael Darklighter Really, that's too bad.I think Axl is one of my top most male vocalists. But being a huge fan, I respect others opinions of him. Enjoy Slash's book!
Many years ago I was studying to earn my PhD in School Psychology from Loyola in Chicago. At the time, psychologists were studying problem solving and creativity. I learned that there was no correlation between drug use and creativity- which is a really positive thing. Drugs don't increase creativity. That whole thing is just a myth that so many people buy into. They think the more drugs they take the more creative it will make them. But it just doesn't fly. I think that's what Slash was trying to communicate here.
Strombo had just great questions. Felt more like two mate's having a casual chat than an interview. Learnt a bit from slash too and his perspective is so interesting. Really enjoyed this..thanks..
AWESOME video! Thanks so much for posting! Slash has been my Guitar God since 1992. One of the most talented, raw and real artists of all-time! Seeing Slash and Myles Kennedy LIVE for the 3rd time in September. Super pysched!
What a dynamic well spoken Legend!! He seems very grounded and intelligent! He made it clear that Axl is a douche without saying it too!! Congrats on your sobriety Slash!! youre a great Artist and guy!
I find his interviews very interesting to listen to. He presents as a very personable, sensitive and intelligent person. From what little I know about him, it sounds as if he has been through a lot. He is quite a survivor in his own right. I like what he said about taking the energy he was putting into drinking and channeling it into music and other far more productive areas. It's amazing how much energy is wasted on certain behaviors that are so unproductive. It just goes to prove that even if you are very successful (in terms of fame and fortune), there are still many challenges in life that one has to deal with or overcome. Congratulations to him for being able to do that. I'm sure with his level of fame and fortune it wasn't very easy and must be a bit of a day-to-day struggle. But he appears so focused. I admire that kind of behavior. It's very positive and I think it rubs off in a positive way on other people.
This was an amazing interview. Informative and I enjoyed it very much. Slash has made his path on the Rock and Roll road and he has been honest about his life and if you you've not read his book, you should. I respect him and always will.
Oh I have Cyrus, what do you want to discuss? I also been in bands. Peter, that helps a whole lot I hope you feel great about that. You're fine and everyone else has problems. I agree James, they absolutely do fuel egos. The war on people who use needs to end. Those who want help stopping should receive way better help than what is offered now. Drugs destroy bank accounts. They give and take health and relationships.
Once in a blue moon, we get to see a really good guitarist... But once in a lifetime, we get to see Slash... One of the most iconic if not the best guitarist the world has ever had the privilege to listen and to watch. Certainly a hero of mine and undoubtedly the man that made me look at a guitar as an art not just an instrument. An icon... A legend... I'm so happy that he is still playing and producing music for the future generations to hear... Slash is not just a name, he's a legend... Congratulations on the Hall of Fame Awards... Truly deserving... I still have the "Appetite For Destructions" album on cassette tape... One of my prized possession... :)
I can say that I was a Guns Fan when I was a teen! and Slash was always my fave!! I followed him from Snake Pit all the way up to now! one of my fave guitar players of all time
What an increadibly likeable person Slash is, seems so laid back and humble about everything.
thats the magic effect of his sunglasses
Slash is just awesome. I wish he was real...
what??
Yeah, I hear ya. He is like a god. :-)
Its a Southpark reference - they made him like Santa Clause in an episode and all the kids find out he isn't real
like kanye
that's fuckin funny
I like Slash . He's so reserved , and Very articulate when he Speaks .
What a sweet guy, Slash is and i love the interviewer's friendly way of interacting with him.
is it just me or is slash reeeeeeally reeeeally an interesting person??
mattylga01 he's one of the most interesting people living right now. Not many people come close to his swag..he's such a chill dude as well..
+mattylga01 Really interesting. Really nice too, and he's one of the last of the pre-1990 rockers still putting out new music
+mattylga01 You got that right and yes he is.
+mattylga01 He's . without a question of a Doubt
Compared to most former drug addicts/alcoholics, he's very smart and articulate
At the end of the day, all this time later, Axl and Slash did reunite. And it's been awesome.
I didn't know Slash was so soft-spoken haha. He lets his guitar do the talking.
Is it me or does Slash have a voice like aged wine? A very gentle and calm but textured voice?
scyllaandcharybdis yes he does
It is you, and it's a fine observation. ☆
No it's not just you. I've always noticed that about him and as he gets over it softens. It's beautiful isn't it?
he still has the same old laugh
Agreed ....can listen to him talk all day
I respect Slash for never giving up on Steven Adler. That's true friendship.
I agree, they been friends forever, they r like brothers
Ya it’s to bad that Steven Adler was just so far gone and burnt out that when GnR went out on that enormous tour a few years back they thought he just wasn’t ready to go out and play the set every night. But at least he got to play a couple times on the tour. It was just sad because he really practiced a lot to try and get his chops back up but it just didn’t work out lol
@@nicholasjarvis8958lol? That doesn’t seem appropriate
This interviewer is fantastic. So rare to see an interviewer who isn't just poking at the subject, trying to get salacious sound bites. Kudos, sir.
Like how this interviewer let's him talk.
George is awesome
George is one of the best
Yeah, unlike Piers Morgan. He never lets him talk.
Strombo is the best host I've seen, always genuine and interesting and asks interesting questions. We don't have any one like him in the UK at the moment.
Slash is so well spoken
Slash is definitely one of those intellectual and articulate (laid back too) rock stars that don't just do music, he is an amazing person
Slash is the only guy who can spot a top had and still look bad ass.
SLASH IS AWESOME
The mans a fucking godsend.
it's been said so many times but I say it again: Strombo's approach is refreshing
except when he calls out people for their political beliefs.... like Dave Mustaine.
That was a setup
TheBillproject I would've told Stroumboloupoloupalus or whatever his name is to shove it.
There is something creepy about the dude to me; the way he stares without blinking and then does that fake ass laugh of his..
Slash is so nice and polite person! Great Interview!
great interview
I love you Slash of my heart
The English in him
I freakin LOVE slash he's so amazing and talented. I love him so much!!!
Slash is very lucky he got to live his dream while most of us couldn't.

Not luck, he earned it.
Slash speaking? Oh my gawd!
This is probably the first Slash interview where they didn't ask about Axl. Those questions always pissed Slash off.
@Talksense He is NOT most responsible for Slash's rise to fame
@Talksense Slash would've been taken into a hundred different bands, it's not like Slash need GnR to be successful
😂😂😂😂
I still remember the day my parents told me slash isn't real, I felt so sad.
What an awesome interview, Slash is the man.
Guns N Roses one of the most know bands GLOBALLY and he still says Michael Jackson was just too famous............Humble and true
This would have to be my favorite Slash interview I've seen out there.
Being Aussie, I haven't seen this show or interviewer before, but damn, that was fantastic. Slash IS THEE most coolest person on the planet and the coolest that will ever be. Wow man just wow. Two guys that have mastered their craft. Strombo and slash you both are effing awesome. Cheers !
i had no idea slash was so well connected before the gnr days and his parents and stuff. good interview!!
he's super chill and he's greatt
He does exist!
It’s my dad
Strombo is the fucking Boss host.
Too bad the interview with Dave Mustaine was so short and ended on a sour note.
*****
Yeah I've come to realize Dave is somethin else. lmao
One of the best interviews I’ve with him
Very smart and aware.
Great interview. So much well articulated perspective and insight. I would like this vid 5 times if I could.
A classic man whos keep it real!
I love Slash..
Kudos to the interviewer. Great questions and not many interruptions. The best interview I've seen.
Slash rocks on stage and seem nice and cool
Amazing interview!
George is one of the best at what he does.
It doesn't seem that long ago,and yet it feels like a lifetime ago.....Slash is so right.
He is always so laid back! He has never boasted about his fame, just very humble! Love ya Slash.
thanks! that was really good. not the usual stupid questions that everyone seems to ask over and over again. i could listen to Slash talk for the rest of my life. he's such a real guy, he's awesome!
such an amazing guy
I remember when my little daughter asked me if Slash was real! Had to do some real fast footwork. Didn’t want to ruin the Holiday for her.
the strom just puts everyone at ease so they will talk. slash is a regular guy.
I love this interview
I love slash
cool guitarist. and good style.
If you haven't already, you really should pick up a copy of his book "Slash". Even if you don't really like him, you'll like the book, it's pretty good. I think he should write more.
Oh, and Duff's book, "Its so easy...and other lies" is really good too!
Slash's book is fantastic, Just about to start reading Duff's & then I'll move onto Matt Sorums.
Stevie Wonder Good to know. Luv biographies.
+Stevie Wonder It's such a good read!

I WISH I COULD PLAY LIKE HIM SWEET CHILD OF MINE
Congratulations Slash on everything 💥
So that's how he sounds like!
EPIC!!!!
Strombo had just great questions. Felt more like two mate's having a casual chat than an interview. Learnt a bit from slash too and his perspective is so interesting. Really enjoyed this..thanks..
wow i never fail to be amazed at how well spoken he is
Only Slash could walk around wearing that freaking hat and still be taken seriously. What a dude.
*Damn...George has good knowledge of Hard Rock music...I appreciate that*
That was the best thing you ever did in you life slash. You and your talent will get somewhere wonderful in your life. Said With Love, JC
Two of my favorite people together on one stage :)
One of the realist and coolest people in rock n roll history

FINALLY! been waiting for this forever

George rocks...used to have an awesome metal radio show. Slash is a really cool guy too
I love slash’s story! Kinda destined to make it big and stayed humble considering his fame, success and talent.
People need to stop comparing Jesus and slash, like sure he can walk on water, but can he play solos
This comment is GOLD🤣🤣🤣🤣
Missed this one on the other tube.
Really good interview, Icon musician.
Slash gives an awesome interview. I don't quite care for most of G n' R, and I think Slash grew creatively when he dropped the Axl baggage.
He wears it because slash fans like to see him wear it
Pretty cool interview. Love slash
Top 10 interview for sure. Epic content.
He's Always Been Genuine :)
I love how this interview doesn't mention Axl and Slash's personal difficulties other than saying "other personal stuff". Good work.
Drugs don't destroy bands, egos do.
+Scott S looooooooser you
drugs just fuel the egos further.
Booze
Both do, very easily. Both problem will fuel each other too.
Slash is just such an interesting Character with so many different interest
i really enjoyed that
I like this interview. The interviewer talks to him like his at the hardware store.
straight to the point interview

Great interviewer. Very relaxed, more like a conversation.
Slash is far from burnt out - He is in the top 7 Guitarist & has the number 1 image. We love you dude
Cool interview. Slash is pretty outspoken.
Great interview, first time seen for me.Never seen any uk interviews.🎩❤
You're a good interviewer! You ask all the right questions!

It's 2022 and Slash and Axl are now back together and touring. How crazy it that?
Slash is so gorgeous inside and out. Truly.
THANK YOU!
Share a birthday with him and just love him to pieces. Awesome talent and cute as a button.
Slash is cool
