I don't know a lot about guns so this is genuinely a question, not trying to be snarky. Most of the parasites prefer to be up close and personal, their tentacles don't have that much of a reach, relatively speaking. So wouldn't a shotgun be better in those cases? Or are you perhaps thinking with the AR's that the humans can put down the parasites before they get to close? Which would be great! But they are nimble and quick creatures, so hitting them from a decent distant seems quite hard, at least for someone like me that don't know a lot about gun. I just always hear that its surprisingly difficult to actually hit a moving. Especially ones that move as erratic as the parasites then to.

Of course, logically it couldn't have happened only in Japan. It is worldwide parasite infection. I think american Death Note adaptation should have done the same.
