      I use seltzer water ! So it’s a bit more diet friendly also no oil no eggs just cake mix and seltzer water it’s the same concept as the cake mix and soda idea . It comes out a little moister like it falls apart easier but it’s really not bad at all even without the eggs as a binder it’s a pretty great hack I’ve come to love , my mom loves cake and she’s not vegan or on a diet she’s one of those 120 stick People that can eat whatever they want . All she eats is junk food and she loves it too so if I’m really craving cake that’s how I make it but I tend to find icing too sweet with the already sweet cake mix so I do a strawberry shortcake type of vibe with the seltzer cake , fresh strawberries on top and vegan whipped cream (my fave vegan whipped cream is the oat milk whipped cream sprouts farmers market store brand .

    if you want to make the cake a little more firm, just add little less liquid. Basically they ask you to add more water so that there's "more cake" at the end. Even when I made the betty crocker mix WITH eggs I'd still reduce the liquid slightly so the cake wasn't so crumbly. This is good for if you're planning to ice the cake, especially with kids.

    This makes a lot of sense to me. Since eggs are typically added for structure and as a leavening. Nice experiment!

    The egg is what holds it together, in addition to helping it rise. Since I have become a vegan some of the substitutes are: bananas, using 1/2 a banana is about equivalent to 1egg; applesauce, about 1/2 cup, equivalent to about 1 egg; buttermilk you can make by adding a teaspoon of vinegar (apple cider), to your vegan milk; flax or chia seed 2 tablespoons per egg + again 2 tablespoons of water, & letting it sit for about 10-15 minutes. Good luck, with your egg substitutes!

      I'm vegan and I make all kinds of cakes and I never use eggs. I make them for many family members and they say the cake was great and not dry. Look up vegan cakes and see.

      I am a vegan baker also (hence my handle😊) and have definitely tried all of these methods you mentioned, tried and true. Depending on what you want to bake, there is a vegan “egg” for everything.😊

    I do this all the time. To make it firm put it in the freezer for about 10 min. That will make it firm. Sometimes I use sparkling water.

    My son is allergic to eggs. We found a fun recipe for him that uses Chocolate cake mix and 1 can of root beer. Just mix and bake. He LOVES it!

    I make them just like the box says except without eggs. Doesn't rise as much but comes out super moist and yummy. Don't need the eggs.

    After a year you probably won't see this - but I'm from England and haven't seen 'box cakes' but we do have packets of 'sponge mix' that you just add water and 1 egg to - wondering if the same thing. Great video thanks for sharing - and thanks to the person who suggested this hack to you.

    Unsweetened apple sauce works great I place of egg for vegan chocolate chip cookies I wonder how it would work as an egg substitute for cake I know you can replace some of the oil for applesauce I wonder if it could be for the egg

    Hi my grandson can’t have eggs and he always wants cake. I always made him the cake from black bottom cup cakes. But he wants vanilla cake for Christmas, I found this video and I made it.     You can make a light and fluffy cake using a box mix. The box cake mix and 12ounces of soda or juice. No eggs, oil or water.

    Alrighhht😍🍰 Now 5:04am I did this "recipe"😁 I only had half cup veg oil, so did another 1/2 melted coconut oil... I had some pb, peanuts, n butter( i know🙄) and caramel sauce...soaked peanuts in melted butter and threw them on top O'Cake 30 mins in... melted pb and mixed w meltrd butter... topping🤤 GIRRRL!!! A little crumbly.. but I didnt wait... lit a candle, threw on some hawaii videos... Cake almost half gone... FULLY Satisfied😍🍫🥜🍰 Thanks Girl!!!!💃🏾🔥🔥🔥💐🏆💐

      LOL you know, sometimes an ugly cake still does the trick so I'm glad the crumbly cake still was good enough to enjoy! I had a better experience with soda water on boxed cake.     I have ALWAYS used either applesauce or chia egg when I bake. 1/4 cup of applesauce equals 1 egg. OR 1 Tablespoon ground chia (use your grinder) plus 3 Tablespoons of water and left for 5-10 minutes will gel and replace 1 egg.

    I discovered a very decent box cake replacement for the eggs and the oil its a can of coca cola. it may not be the healthiest replacement but then oil and eggs are not healthy either. i use the dunkin heinz mixes that are accidentally vegan and add a can or cocacola 10 oz and they come out fine.

    We started experimenting with this because my niece is allergic to eggs. I do a combination of things. Add potato starch as binder so it is less crumbly. I like potato starch rather than other starches because it gelatinizes at a lower temp, so it is sure to be done without overcooking. Add extra baking powder for more rise but adding too much will make the cake dry and less tender. I use yogurt instead of milk for a thicker batter that retains moisture, not sure if a vegan yogurt will have the same effect. If I was going with a vegan milk I think oatmilk would be the best option. Mix the dry ingredients with the liquid and fat and beat as per instructions. Fold in whipped aquafaba for lightness. Adding a small amount of sugar and cream of tarter to the aquafaba before mixing will help stabilize it. You'll get better results cooking the cake in thinner layers, so bake it in two round cake pans, or even three. Using insulated pans helps to keep it from getting too brown/dry/tough on the bottom and edges, and it cooks more evenly to avoid doming up in the middle. This is especially important if you have to cook it longer to get a proper toothpick test. For frosting you can do a whipped coconut cream. I'm going to be trying a whipped ganache using coconut cream instead of dairy cream and am hoping that will work out as well. I like to fill between the layers with fruit or jam spread. Something I haven't tried yet is using a pudding cake mix/recipe without the potato starch addition, because pudding has binders of it's own. Some people may think if you're going to add all that, why not just start from scratch? But a boxed cake has some special ingredients and is processed in a way that is hard to beat, which is why it will make something passable just like in the vid. Making these additions helps it enough to be even more like a regular cake.

Maybe you would be happy with a tough doughy result but I'm fine with putting in a little extra effort to achieve a superior result, and it really isn't that much more complicated for anyone who isn't a simpleton.     When I tell you I've tried everything like you..the best thing I used was baking powder and water..but I'm fixing to make a butter pecan cake and have no eggs... we'll see how this goes!!

    I attempted today with Bobs Red Mill egg replacer + extra all purpose flour & it came out beautiful. I only did 1/4 of the box but for a whole box it would be 3 tbsps of the egg replacer and 1/4 cup flour (maybe more flour it may just need a hair more structure.

      1/4 a box yielded 5 cupcakes so itd probably be 20 for a whole box? I’m not a mathematician or scientist unfortunately haha 😅

    I’m vegan and I’ve used a can of black beans with the water puréed to make brownies. I’ve used a can of diet soda with a cake mix to make cupcakes. Both methods work just fine.

    I have tried apple sauce and flax eggs with less than great results. I have heard that whipped aquafaba from chick peas is a good choice for a leavener but I have not tried it yet.

    I think best egg replacement I used was
    1 teaspoon baking soda +1tablespoon vinegar mix together
    Also gluten free 🤷🏼‍♀️☝️

    Oatmeal seems to have binding texture after cooked, maybe coconut oil, cause other oil seems rubbery when cooked, butter maybe better, or Yucca 😮 dash a baking soda

    You can use yogurt instead of eggs. Beat some butter add the mix. Mix the cake using yogurt. It works

    My son watched food theory and on there they said you don't need to add eggs or oil to the boxed cake mix. It only says that on the box because it makes more people feel better about using boxed cake mix.

    Why not try adding
    1 tin of Evaporated milk
    1/2 cup flour or more if needed
    3/4 cup vegetable oil
    Alittle water
    A tip baking powder.

    Eggs hold the cake together. Egg white is used to make dumpling wrappers stick together. Remember egg white sticking to the pan? Egg yolk was used for painting (Egg tempera is a form of paint that is created by mixing egg yolk with powdered pigments and a little water). So, without eggs cake falling apart is normal.

    Okay I wanted to just find out if this myth was true, but does she really run a baking channel without know that the main purpose of eggs in baking is as an emulsifier to bind the oil and the water? That I thought was pretty basic to baking.

    You needed to add yogurt as egg replacement with oil and water or only cake mix with can of Soda, you will find any difference. Thank you

    Just because you take the eggs out don't make it vegan, that brand still has artificial flavors which some come from animals. You have to buy organic cake mix. Around $6
