13:33 "It's too sweet mommy" that's what I did not expect from a child lol
Kids are the best critics good idea!
This video was a day maker! Thanks for trying all of those!
Loved this! Thank you for sharing. The boys' reactions were priceless!! My childhood egg allergy is back with a vengeance so this was super helpful.
Sorry to hear your allergy is back! Hopefully there are lots of options these days to help you. Glad you enjoyed my video
Thanks so much for this! I never used Chia seeds but I have used flax eggs successfully in corn bread.
Such lovely taste testers, thank you for sharing.
Awesome and insightful video! Thank you!
Just finding your channel 😊 I’m allergic to eggs and every year I try finding a new eggless cake/cupcake recipe that I can eat for my kids birthdays. Plus we live a artificial dye free lifestyle so all kinds of substitutes in our lives. Looking forward to more of your eggless recipes. It’s really helpful 💯
Thanks Rachel for your supportive comment. It’s lovely to know when someone finds a recipe useful. It sounds like you have a challenge in your house! I will be making a new video very soon.
Ground Flax meal can also be used for an egg substitute. My cake came out a bit more crumbly, but it did expire in 2016 (I added a spoonful of baking powder in case that's what "expired"). Maybe that was the problem. YOu use a Tablespoon of flax meal with 3 TBS of water for each egg, I think. It's on the package. It's pretty dark brown, so might discolor a white cake
I see an underrated youtuber
Thanks Foxy for your very encouraging comment.
Your funny I like you Lol! 😂....Thank you for sharing your experiments! With THEE best taste testers!
Try the baking soda one using white vinegar not apple cidar. Also use unsweetened applesauce.
Well, she did use an exorbitant amount of both, considering the very small amount of flour. In baking, the vinegar is supposed to cause a chemical reaction with baking soda that immediately creates air bubbles. In doing so, they both neutralize each other's flavors. I have used mashed beets in chocolate cakes (the ones that are sold in jars, pickled in vinegar) and you would never even know they're there. It's all about the right proportion and right amounts. (Mind you, I always drain the beets, because the vinegar within is enough)
😂I was thinking the same thing.. She used too much of the vinegar and baking sofa @@janalu4067
I've used mashed banana and I loved it! It tasted like banana bread.😋
My kids said it tasted like banana bread also. I didn't like the texture at all.
Great video!
Thank you for sharing.
I am always looking for egg free baking,,thanks.
You are welcome 😊
Thank you for sharing this video. My daughters have both been vegan at certain times and I have had to adapt for family get togethers. I learned alot from your presentation.😊 Your quality control team is adorable ☺️ty 🧁
the chia seed replacement would be much better if you ground the chia seeds first. throw half a cup of chia seeds in your bullet blender then pit them in a jar in your pantry. when ready to use take 1 tbsp and mix with 3 tbsp of water. allow to sit for 10 minutes while you ready everything else. check to make sure it's nice and gloopy then add. each one is one egg.
That's what another video said about flax seed that wasn't tried here.
You can use the boxed pudding mixes instead of cornstarch. They are mostly cornstarch and they add flavor.
Thanks
I wish I knew that before I got a whole jar of cornstarch...
I have a recipe for a chocolate miracle whip cake that has no eggs. Miracle whip and mayonnaise both are made from eggs but for some reason the mayonnaise doesn't work but the miracle whip does. One fourth cup equals one egg.
I always find it so strange that it needs to be mixed for 2 minutes.
This was very entertaining!
subbed. well done video and experiment.
Awesome, thank you!
HaHa! Love the panel of judges!
Thanks for the video! Would you try the " Duncan Hines Devil's Food " cake mix?
Duncan Hines? I will look into that one. Thanks
This is great. I always end up making wacky cake since I can’t seem to get cake mix to work for me. It’s always SUPER crumbly.
The chia seeds I thought were supposed to be grounded first, and then put in warm water and mixed. Then set for a couple minutes. I don't think you did grounding of the chia seeds. Chia seeds are supposed to melt in the water and not look 'seedy' in the product. I've not used chia seeds in ages, as I gave up baking.
Thanks, perhaps they were but it didn’t suggest to do that. I will look into it.
@Easily Eggless - I grind them up because otherwise the texture is objectionable. However, if you grind them, now the color of your baked goods is objectionable. It works just fine in vegan brownies.
This is absolutely accurate. Chia or flaxseed should be ground 😊
You should powder the chia seeds beforehand I think
Yes, I think you are right
I enjoy watching your video, I'm trying to stop eating eggs ( which I love😢). I needed a replacement because I also love pancakes/flapjacks very much, ran across your video. It was very interesting. Love your boys (I have three boys)😊 they made me laugh. I'm going to try the egg replacement to make my pancakes, and I'll try it with banana another time ( I like banana). And maybe just maybe with the Chia seeds.
Thank you.
Thank you Mam
Another channel said not to mix the vinegar and baking soda in a metal bowl or bake in a metal pan. Reaction with the metal or something. I used to always substitute with mayonnaise.
I’ve never heard that about the metal bowl, will keep it in mind.
Ma'am,
It's Chee-ah seeds.
Have you tried Aquafaba as an egg replacer?
I'm no vegan, but for grins 'n giggles, I veganised a egged waffle recipe using flax eggs in for the yolks and aquafaba in for the eggwhites. Worked a treat.
Yes, I have since this video & I was impressed!
My favorite egg replacement is mayonnaise. It works well because it is made from eggs. However, since the egg shortage the mayo seems very watery, so maybe it will not work as well now. Everything thing seems runnier now...peanut butter, shortening, mayo, ketchup etc.
Unfortunately I can’t use mayonnaise as it has eggs it which my son is allergic to.
So the yogurt👍
Would vegan yoghurt work? Like soy yoghurt?
Definitely worth a try
I've seen the Vinegar one done with white vinegar, not apple cider vinegar. And your "applesauce" had chunks in it. Not like the unsweetened applesauce I've seen used. I use sweetened applesauce to replace the oil in a cake mix, but it does come out a bit dry.
If you have flax meal (ground up flax seeds) you can use those for egg substitutes. Might discolor a lighter colored cake mix. But was fine in chocolate cake. The chia seeds, or whole flax seeds, would just go right through you, wouldn't they?
Thanks for your insight
Try with unsweetened applesauce?
Good tip, thanks
Thanks for your inspiration 😉
Was the applesauce you used unsweetened?
Hi Kristin, no it was sweetened applesauce which is where I went wrong!! However my boys didn’t like the bits of apple even though they like eating apples! Kids can be sooo fussy!
@@EasilyEggless I have never bought chunky applesauce like that, ours is usually very puréed.
Try 1.5TBsp Mayo per egg
....:) Those Kids are just Toooooo Cute....!!!!....Plus, Hoping they did NOT have a Tummy ache the Next day, from Cupcake Over-Load...!!!......LOL......:)
With birthday cake style cake mixes people often use sprite.
Great tip!
Thanks for sharing!!! I am subscribing!! My sister @foodieengineer and I have a cooking show with FARE :)
Thank you so much for your support, it means a lot. What’s you & your sisters cooking show called?
@@EasilyEggless You’re welcome. In the Kitchen with Dr. Renee and Chef Alycia
She forgot try grounded flaxseed
Chee-ah seeds
Most often Indian youtubers use yoghurt as egg replacer.
Lol 😂
CHA CHA CHA CHEE-A
Say again!
mayo
Well of course you are gonna taste apple pieces, you did not use real pureed apple sauce.....SMH, also, if you didn't use unsweetened one, well....
Ew
