I majored in Zip-Tie Studies in college and find this to be extremely helpful.
Number 1 is my favourite. The times I've picked up my top opened pack the wrong way, and they all fall out. Grrrrr. The side opening is a great idea.
So great I'm going to reseal my pack and cut a hole in the side instead.
(Of course the manufacturers could just sell zip ties in a zip lock bag, but that would be too easy)
@@fdabelstein most of my zip ties DO come in a zip lock bag! lol but i agree, if they dont #1 is GREAT
A bag of mixed zip ties and a roll of duct tape and you can conquer the world. Great video,
If I can't fix it with a zip tie or duct tape, it can't be fixed.
Exactly what I was thinking.
You didn’t show how great handcuffs they make. Cops love ‘em.😂
Exactly what I was going to say! 😂
Rather than using scissors or even side cutters to cut off the excess, (which leaves a nasty edge) try fingernail or toenail clippers. Put the cutting edge right up against the clutch and clip. The result is amazingly smooth. The larger toenail clippers work even better. I keep one in with my Zip Ties.
one thing i learned about using zip ties, if you leave any exposed trailer not cut off flush, and especially ones that were angled cut, beware, those edges are like a razor blade. my advice is to clip them flush to the lock, then sand it down so it feels smooth.
Yes! I use a flush-cut wire cutter as you do on circuit board components that drop through holes and then get soldered in place. It is a cheap way to cut these!
@@Russwig and I'm using some your ideas, thnx
I've got a deep 4-inch cut in my arm from the sharp cut-off. I did melt it down with a cigarette lighter, but obviously not enough, so be careful of that.
This is a great video and great tips. I'm going to use a lot of them, thank you❤
Took the words out of my mouth👍
You are right!
Yes!! I’m gonna use the flashlight on bike idea!! My (plastic) attachment broke last summer…
Thanks so much 😊
You sir, think out of the box.
Amazing work.
Amazing cat. So sweet. ❤
some of these are great tips, others not so much... ONE MAJOR thing to know, if anyone doesn't know already, YOU WANT A CLEAN CUT FOR ZIP TIES, bc those sharp ends will CUT YOU!! AND I PROMISE, YOU'LL BLEED! also another good tip is knowing why the zip tie has an angle at the end, the upwards end is how a technician knows by feeling, which way the zip tie are needed to be closed without having to redo, turn it, or whatever... no one should ever keep a lighter lit for longer than a few seconds at a time.. they will explode... some of your other tips, some made no sense to me, but maybe helpful to others... tks for sharing the ideas!
You are a certified zip tie technician. Thanks for the great ideas.
The white kitten was icing on top of the cake 🥰.
Great tips thanks. Also a cautionary tip, disposable lighters can explode causing serious injury💥 They should only be lit for a few seconds⏰️
And leave black soot behind.
I use a heat gun or a butane torch depending on the material, size and/or project.
Cats make everything better! 😻😻
Not if a person is allergic to them.
💯
@@matthewk6731 Bummer, dude.
@@matthewk6731 buy a Russian blue cat they are for people that are allergic to cats.
Genial in its simplicity! From OR, Sardinia, Italy
I have used the zip ties on tape and it works great 😊
Surely a Nobel Prize is in order.
Some good ideas; others are stretching it a bit; some are not so great.
A zip tie is too slick to use as a drill stop. I use shrink wrap tubing for repeating depth drilling.
Also, there are velcro bundle ties that will work well and are reusable, instead of zip ties.
More than once I thought "And if you use velcro strip you can untie it afterwards without any tools".
Clever ideas!
Thanks for sharing.
🙈🙉🙊 😎 🇺🇸
Zippy-dee-do-tie zippy dee yay, What wonderful idies coming your way!!! lol
This video is why they made youTube
Thank for the tips man 👍
If you twist the remainder of the zip tie with a pair of Lineman Pliers you will get a flush smooth end. Simply place the Lineman pliers up to the locking head of the zip and turn in a circular motion, rotating till the remaining unwanted portion of tie breaks off
Um... I just twist it with my fingers till it comes off. No tools. Great for camping. Made mini Saw-blade when camping. Used rock to make notches -- sharp, but not much draw. Used it to "split" openings in bigger pieces of wood -- makes them start burning deep sooner, also make fire faggots when no long grass or reeds. Desert camping is odd.
*Never, NEVER, **_NEVER_** cut a zip tie with anything but a zip-tie gun. If not cut flush, it leaves a super sharp edge that WILL slit your (or the next guy’s) wrist when reaching into the cable bundle!*
i use my lineman pliers. not the wire cutter part. twist it around with the head of the pliers. it breaks off clean leaving a smooth edge.
Thanks for the tip in case I want to hurt someone 👍🏽🤗
flush cuts only.
OR cut flush and use one of these great lighter tips to melt the raw edge down smooth. Lol
I melt those sharp spots away
I like the homemade zip tie!!
I'm going to organise all my wires with #5 right now!! Genius!!
The best comprehensive video I've seen on zip ties. For #19 I was thinking of bird feeders! Thanks for posting. Instant sub!
Seems like this in genius Young man didn’t have really much to do one day and had a couple of bags of tiedowns zip ties very clever
You need to get some of those zip tie cutters that cut them off flush, no more sharp edges, get them at Harbor Freight or anywhere thats sells tools 👍
I have a commercial zip tie gun. You adjust the pressure from 1 of 5 settings then it pulls every tie to the same tension and pulls the end off leaving a safe edge.
I need somebody as creative and skillful as you are! Just until everything is in good order. 😂❤
Thankyou for awesome ideas👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Definitely sum cool ones. One I have use b4 Is I’ve ran out of weed eater line when I was almost done and didn’t want to run to Lowe’s or Home Depot when I only had about 15 min left so I have used zip ties as weed eater line and let me tell u it work just as good if not better.
You can avoid the sharp edges left by cutting off the excess tie, by merely twisting it a couple times with pliers. Leaves smooth edge.
Cool trick- stagger them around drill bit and u can use ur drill and bit as a miniature weed eater for ur wife’s garden or flower bed where a weed eater would shred everything.
@jamiemichael4190 Thank you, I was looking for that exact hint!! I will be using this out in my flower beds and also to help me get out some of the weed roots. 🤗
My 1st thought -- Weed-eater! Great paint mixer. (Scrambled eggs? Tee. Hee.)
From experience if you tie a wire loom with a zip tie and pull it too tight the wire will short out where the zip tie has been pulled too tight 47 years being a mechanic the zip ties have brought a whole new realm better than tie wire the main thing is is cutting off the end and hoping nobody gets cut with that and have a nice day God bless America
Specially the last one, the spinner will cut fingers for sure.
41 years as a mechanic when when i was a 1st year apprentice my journeymen showed me how to take it off clean with the side cutters. just twist it with the head of the pliers it breaks off clean. he then said to me nobody will get their arm ripped open
The very best selection of technical use of a material I've seen. Thanks!
Ingeniously brilliant! 🙂
Zip Ties and Bias Plys 💯 Mint!
Good stuff, Methgyver!
Great video, good luck
If you want to make a kitty litter scoop, drill the bottle neck with the cap on, so the litter can't fall out of the open neck
Impressive!!
Nail clippers do decent flush cut on zip ties
I use a flat head screwdriver instead of a razor knife it’s safer to release the tab
A lot of these could have been achieved using elastic bands without having to cut off the end of the zip tie and then the band can be reused for something else after.
I use giant zip ties for "boning" in my 18th century reenacting clothing. Much cheaper than the "real" stuff!
Awesome!!! I use zip ties all the time. You showed me new ideas. Thanks
C’est excellent 👏🏻
Very clever!
I love how he showed the tape roll hack and then later on actually using tape fromn a roll and used pair of scissors to cut it instead of the tape roll hack he JUST showed us lol.
Awesome, creative ideas! Who knew?! Thanks.
I have to get alot more zip ties.yeah.
Your cats are precious.
#33 that cat is like, ok, finish filling this box for me if you want me to use it!
Woo😮 Really creative, the video is amazing
Amazing tips. May we remember where need be. Traveling with zip ties seem smart .
They do work under some conditions inserted the other way, and learn to tie a knot cordage is cheaper
Makes dating a lot easier. Especially whith duct tape at a premium lately. Gave me some bright ideas!
AWESOME THANK YOU 😁
Thankyou so much for help 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
number 10 : how to mess up your drill bit and drill chuck in 5 seconds😄
Great ideas, thanks, I love them!
I wish I was the guy that invented wire ties
I wish I was the guy that invented wire ties. They don’t give those things away
Can we get clapping for the real hero of this video : the drill😂
use wire side cutters to cut the end off flush and avoid leaving sharp nastiness. Side cutters are also much easier to use than scissors.
We fish colored zip ties through the jaws of the fish we 3:16 catch when a group of us go deep water fishing. Each person has their own color, so we know how to separate our catches when we get to the dock.
Fence repairs
This was very educational and enjoyable. Thank You😊
So simple and yet ingenious. Thank you.
Number 5 is my favorite so far.... 🙏💜🌻
#9 #10 #11
amazing
I use zip ties for just about everything 😂
Spend about $9.00 and get a "board trimming clipper." It's tiny and for snipping off soldered components on printed circuit boards. They are excellent for tyrap's and zip-ties, as they don't leave a sharp edge for someone to get cut up on! NEVER CUT THEM WITH SCISSORS!!!
A good idea to remove a tie zipp 👍
Great ideas, but wish you would NOT use ties much longer than required an avoid creating unwanted plastic waste.
Yes I agree & why not use a longer one than 3 smaller ones then cutting off the excess
This guy makes MacGyver jealous!!
This is what I call Mcgivher moves
Ok wow. I’m sold and I’m only on #2!!
Have none of these people ever heard of flush cuts?
how did #31 sneak in here? LOL some great ideas, but i keep thinking, what to do with all the PLASTIC cut off waste?
Thanks
COOP
...
So cool,thanks.
Lots of good ideas but there were many where I had NO idea what you were doing. Would just a little explanation, either oral or written be too much to ask? But for the ones I got, cool!
I use them on my knife. If your knife has a hole ,opening (like) Spydaco. Put it in the hole pull tight.
When you pull out of pocket it will catch añd start to open
IMO you missed a huge safety tip, a flush cut side cutter will remove the razor edge when cut close to the lock. The second tip, you almost brushed on when cinched on a drill is that it can be used as a depth gauge!
If one cuts the end of a tie off, melt the cut edge with a quick heat by a lighter. Those ends are sharp, jagged and dangerous to eyes, body, and wrists.
Source: Experience.
very clever!
You need to pick up a pair of flush cut snips. Icon from Harbor Freight are pretty good.
Genial. Thank you.
Am I the only one that just spent $90.00 on an order of zip ties? 😅
Yes, I'm afraid you are~!!!! Damn that's a lifetime supply~!
Maybe
@Navy_Snipe, SO! That's what all this zip ties were for in the boiler room! USN 73-77 MR3 USS BLANDY DD 943 & USS VULCAN AR 5 HomePort Norfolk VA Sail On Sailor.
Planning on doing some work next century, see. Hey, future plans are what keep ya alive.
Lol!😂
Use wire cutters instead of scissors.
One thing I don’t use when working with zip ties is scissors
Do yourself and others a favor when using zip ties and get a flush cut wire nippers. those scissor cut ends are sharp and will cut you, especially in tight places.
תודה
Came for the ideas, stayed for the music. I almost jumped up and busted a move.
Haha such cute freakin cats! And yes some excellent ideas. Was thinking use the zip ties on a bunch of cheap wooden pencils tightend into the chuck of the drill gun instead of drill bits for the paint mixing ones so you can discard the cheap pencils and not have to clean the drill bits or ruin them. Awesome idea though and oh my God I want your furballs hehe
number 40 : I wish someone would come up with a magnet + ball bearing + zip tie life hack. Just for the fun of it.
For number 19, where would one get the bottles?
I see the fidget spinner and then look at the title again.
❤
The shoe laces almost took me out
