I had once asked a friend of mine who believed in Karma about how do they account for kids who are born horribly disabled or kids with extremely dire diseases (like kids going through cancer). My friend replied that those kids must have sinned in their previous life. You can justify a lot of crap based on the concept of Karma (like discrimination on the basis of birth as well).

Indeed. And it seems to be the primary purpose to which the doctrine is put by those who claim to believe it. Always someone else's Karma, never one's own.

Again "REBIRTH" has it's Origin in the Buddhist Scriptures.
According to the Buddha, every moment an emotion rises, and bust, like bubbles in a boiling water. You are born every moment, and You die every moment, and you are born again.
If you create Good Thoughts, you'll give birth to More Good Thoughts, which will Make You HAPPY.
If you create Bad Thoughts, You will give birth More Bad Thoughts, which will Harm You FIRST.

      @@YV-2000 That's a Big Myth.
"Siddharth Gautama the Buddha" was born in 564BCE(approximately), it's 2500. His language was Pali.
Lot of his words are Lost in Translation. Also like the Chinese Whisper things have altered/ interpreted from generation to generation.
Many Cultures have adopted the Teachings of "Siddharth Gautama the Buddha" as per the convience of their Culture.
The term "Karma" is mostly attributed to Bhagwat Geeta which is intrinsic part. Mahabharata (compiled in 4CE).

I respect that title. It says what many refuse to admit for some odd reason. Perhaps because no specific god is named? Eastern religions have been a go-to for many Western religious drop-outs who want something a little less rigid. But, to me, the theory of Karma & reincarnation is just as frightening as any of the rest. Personal or impersonal makes no difference when it comes to god (or any supernatural intelligence that judges, etc.). It actually gets very little attention when you look about online. Atheists tend to address personal gods. So who's dealing with this less defined, but just as potent, material that you've brought up here? Not many at all. Thank you for this upload.

The modern idea of Karma as a moral law is quite new and really is from the influence of post Mahavira Jainism. Older ideas are based on action and causality but early Advaita philosophers already had the idea that the bird flying at the same time as the coconut falling from a tree is a false causality (superstition).

The Concept of Karma pre dates Bhagwat (which was written in 2-300 BCE), its original are found in Buddhist Scriptures 500 BCE.

That's how I understand it too: Karma means consequence. It appeals to one's intuitive thinking, what with the butterfly effect now being a well known concept.
I can see the benefit of thinking through long term consequences, but the problem with that is that Karma encourages reductionist thinking. Kind of like The Secret encouraging people to think that if I don't get what I want, I must not be putting enough energy into manifesting it by belief.

The notion of Karma is so fraught with philosophic rational problems because the notion/definition is faulty!
Mystically, Karma is the momentary (local) reflection of the Absolute Perfection/Balance of (Duality) the One (ALL-inclusive) Universe!
This deeper definition removes the philosophical problems and the influence of 'local traditions'.
Knowing, living this is the very essence of Faith!
Whatever the moment brings is in perfect accord with the Universe, whether comfortable or not.
Just accept with Gratitude and never trouble yourself over Karma again!
Acceptance is unconditional Love and Karma is 'God'.
To accept Karma is to accept 'God' (Consciousness, Nature, Universe, whatever you want to call It...)!

I believe, we have a free will but we are not free from the consequences of our actions.
Also, whatever you do comes back to you...suppose, with that free will if we do something wrong and get rid away with that because that didn't get noticed... Humein zarur lag sakta hai ki hum bach gye. Ab humari hi tarah ke Soch ke aur bhi log hain... Aur high probability is kabhi na kbhi aap apni hi tarah ke vyakti se takrayenge n iss baar victim aap honge.
To morality ka purpose yahi sikhana gai ki jo aap apne liye nhi chahte, wo ap dusron k saath mat karen. Lekin, hum kitna usko follow kar rahe hain..? Isliye, aise situations aate hain ki jb aap apne good aur wrong deeds ka realisation kar paatey hain... Cz, apke bhi wo experience banenge.
N still, what do you choose with each experience is a piece of learning... Suppose hum repeatedly cheat ho rahe hain to humne apne experiences se learn hi kiya boundaries set karna.
"Karma" To zero ho hi nhi sakta, aur koi bhi karma bina consequences/result k nhi ho sakta and result har baar manchaha ho zaruri nhi... Aur manchaha naa ho ye bhi zaruri nhi.
To actually, Gita ki sabse important seekh yahi hai jo hum bahut selective hoke skip kar jaatey hain ki -" tumhare control mein sirf karma hai... You have choices and whatever you choose, becomes your karma." Karma ki responsibility apki hai. Aap kya choose karte hain... Ye apki responsibility hai.
But kyunki human nature hai ki wo result ko soche bina kuchh karta nhi... Cz wo basic driving force hai uski choices k liye...
Hum accha hona, ya acche kaam Karna organic way mein nhi karte... Koi hidden agenda hota.. Jo andar mein chalta hai. Isliye humari choices conditioned hoti hai... Aur phir clash hota hai consequences k reference mein ki -"kya fayda accha karne ya accha banne ka"?
To... Gita shayad iss clash ko phir se address karti hai ki.. Tum result ko mat rou.
Morality k saath bhi yahi issue hai ki hum moral usi limit tk hote hain Jahan tk fayda hai... Hum cheezon ko relative sense mein morality k tarazu mein rakhte hai... Jaise, untouchability ko so called upper classes n so called educated log Bada criticize karte dikhenge .... Lekin, unki routine life mein wo usko practice karte nhi dikhenge.
To definitely, Maine apne parents ko bhi question kiya ki agar poorane acche karmo se agar aap aaj so called upper class mein paida hue hain... To possible hai ki apki ye dusre ko neecha dekhne ki Soch se aap kabhi so called lower class mein paida ho jayenge? Cz, ye bhi karmic account chal raha hai... Purana jaisa tha.. Aaj Kaisa hai ye bhi to dekhna padega!!! N maze ki baat, wo isse ease ke saath ignore karte hain ki aage ki aage dekh lenge... That means, wo consciously aaj bhi apni conditioning k hisaab se hi cheezein Chun rahe hain...
I think atheist k liye bht sorted hota hai sab kuchh... N believers ulajh jatey hain... Faayde nuksaan ke beech...

When someone does something bad already is suffering out of ignorance. The fact that someone has a capacity to do something bad I the result of being detached from God. This person is already paying their karma. This person must realise the cause of this suffering and make a choice to set himself free from karma, or keep in the cycle.

But logically if we will keep on abusing people will abuse us . if we keep on kindness we will get kindness. It not true always hence above definition is valid but even such thing won't happen the anger that we will generate will harm us. So call the expecting to happen anything good will also cost us. I think you have reached a stage where you are convinced yourself that what you think is an absolute truth and that what you think is the only perspective that should exists.
Regarding Karma, it is a very wrong translation that if you do good karma good will happen to you and vice versa. Its bullshit explaination.
    The verse from Geeta says
    "karmanye vadhikaraste ma phaleshu kadachana"
Meaning you have right or control over your Karma but not its fruits/repercussions.
It never said that if you do good will will get good and vice versa.
What the philosophy says or means is you have control over your actions, so choose ur actions wisely as u do not have control of its aftermath.

I think you have not basically understood the concept of Karma it doesn't stress too much just on morals but on the duty. Lion eating a deer is basically not wrong because it is doing what it is bound to do and thats the law of nature. Thus you can infact people who told you or where you heard it to be moral is ofcourse in its standard. But humans have civilized and thus they have different set of duties. Deer trying to escape is its duty and at the same time it might some time stay back to protect its kid and thats what the nature and this creation made them. Can you find an immoral animal? I am not sure as of now I haven't researched. But we can research on it by few things. Every common cuckoo steals other birds nest and that is its nature and thus it cannot be called immoral. And in case if only few common cuckoos steal other birds nest for no reason then it is immoral which you won't find. Karma is a complex concept tho.

Bro, karma isn't real, get over it, there are many people who do bad things but don't get karma for it, that's the truth. What karma did Hitler get for all he did??

      @@loop4569 alright, let me elaborate a little…
Kamra theory doesn’t mean that your karma would come back to you i.e. if you did something good/ bad to someone, same would occur to you.
It talks about the kind of aura you create within the world because of your karma, if you did something good, it’ll have an impact & the vice verse
It might or might not come back to you, but it’ll surely have a rippling effect

What hitler did will effect the Jews for a long long time now, neither they will forget it nor will they let the world forget. In order to avoid the same they’ll do a lot of good and bad thing, then some other people community will be affected then they would retaliate, then so on and so on…
      Hope you got my point
