I'm 65 years old and found Nightwish & Floor 8 years ago I'll just say there music has given me hope and tons of joy ever since. I never heard or seen such magic until they came into my life .
I'm a 60 year old metal head😂 since I was 15 I listen to rock music and a probably do it till I'm dead. Keep rocking 🤘

Floor can sing in virtually every style. She (along with everyone in the band) is immensely talented!

I don't know if someone else already answered your question: Wacken is a small village (about 2.000 inhabitants) in Northern Germany. Normally it is a quiet place with a lot of cows (therefore the symbol of Wacken Open Air is the burning bull's head) but for four days every year about 85.000 metal fans from all over the world invade the village for Wacken Open Air. The first WOA had been in 1990 (starting with about 800 visitors). It is now one of the biggest metal festivals in the world.
The people of Wacken must be very happy when the Metalheads leave. In the village of Clisson, France, during the "Hellfest" festival, people say Metalheads are nice people but they are happy when they leave. 😅
@@jerrymailI think it is the same with Wacken although the inhabitants have benefits with this festival. Several of them work for the festival and earn money by doing this. Those who don't like the festival go on a journey during these days, others like it and stay.
The lights that you see in the background is not a city skyline. It is actually the camping grounds.
Great reaction..we have all been there with Nightwish discovery…I’m 72 and just discovered them a year ago and they are top of my bucket list to go from Canada to see them hopefully live in Finland when they decide to tour again 🤞🤞

The whole Nightwish Army has been where you are and we welcome you. It's so much fun to watch you smile. Be prepared to smile alot and shed a tear or two brought on by every emotion capable of a human being. If you wanna see Floor and Marko amaze you again, check out "Ever Dream" from this same concert. You won't believe your ears. There is so much great music ahead of you from several different concerts. "Shudder Before the Beautiful" from Wembley 2015 and "The Islander" and "My Walden" from Tempere 2015 - to name just a few. Enjoy them all.

They don't have such a choreographed stage show, but instead they have a stage show based on each person's own personality! And it's fun to watch, every single one of them!
I told you this song was about 10 gears removed from Ghost Love Score, and that your mention of Metallica was pretty accurate.
This song has almost nothing in common with Ghost Love Score. It sounds like 2 completely different bands.
And I assure you, if you continue, every song is very different from the rest. Their music is extremely diverse and eclectic.
These musicians are all real performers. They give their all for the sake of the song. Floor and Marko together are one of the most dynamic duos that I have seen in a long time. They sound so very good together. In this song, at the end of the glissando that both Floor and Marko do, I always love the look on the guitarist's (Emppu) face "Yup, you just saw them do that."

Floor can sing in other languages too. Floor was trained in performance acting/ Theatre and Classical/Opera plus at a School of rock and she can play a few instruments. Floor can sing in many Genre's like Metal, Rock, Pop classical etc. Thank you.

The fan base includes people from 8 to 80 . . . and beyond, I'm sure. Quite a few of us, who grew up on Deep Purple and Led Zep, think that Nightwish is the best band (and Floor the best singer) that we've ever heard - and we've been listening for 40 years or more. Her stage presence is right up there with Freddie Mercury's, and the fun she has on stage is immediately contagious.
You can't go wrong with Gabriel's list; you also can't go wrong just searching "Nightwish Wacken" and picking a vid at random... that concert seems to have brought out the best in every member of the band. I especially love the opening number, "Dark Chest of Wonders". She strides onto the stage in front of 82,000 people who've paid to see somebody else, and ... well, just watch it.
Once again this band, that lady saved my life almost 5 yrs ago. Not a day goes by that I don't listen to them. It also opened my eyes to other bands in Europe as well. It's all awe inspiring to me.🌹

There's no city in the background. All you see is part of the Wacken festival. Wacken actually is a very small german village where once in a year the farmland is used to host the biggest metal festival in the world. You might have seen the flaming bullhead logo. That represents the farmland heritage.

The “scream” at the end is called a glissando, going from low to high and back, for classically trained singers this is an exercise to warm up the vocal cords, so Floor will do this probably every day before breakfast . And yes, Floor can sing in any style! She can sing from classical to belting and raspy vocals like screaming and death growls.
AND,...Floor has 3 distinct styles. Head banging(straight forward, then back), hair whip(almost like cracking a bull whip) and the Windmill(continuous 360 degree revolutions). Why Windmill? Well she is Dutch.

Some suggestions: the Beste Zangers tv show that had Floor in it. They sing songs for eachother, songs that mean much to the person they sing it for, and the last episode is duo's. So they sing for the rest of the singers and the presentor. If You're going to watch it, save the duets for last. The last duet of that evening is awesome. Floor sings with Henk Poort, who did Phantom. Guess what they are going to sing...

I knew you'd love this one. As versatile as Floor is, and as fine as she sounds in all her various singing 'modes', when she rocks out in her 1st register (like in the verses of this song), her tone is, IMO, just perfect. The amazing vocal gymnastics she adds are the icing on the cake. In regards to suggestions, I'd say keep following Gabriel's list, it's as good a guide as you'll get, and I think is well crafted to introduce you to the band and music in a logical sequence. (Hint: You'll get another insight into Marko's vocals when you get to Everdream. There's *so* much more to him than you've seen so far. 😉)

Goodmorning (8 am here) Sweetheart snotball. I tell you how i found Nightwish. In 2015 i was surfing on YT for new music. I saw Nightwish. The song was Amaranth from the same Wacken 2013 concert and i was immediatly hooked. Not only the Wacken 2013 concert is fire, but also Wembley 2015, Tampere 2015, Buenos Aires 2018, Hellfest 2022 and Deichbrand 2022 are great.
My birthday is april 11 and one of my favourites is 7 days to the wolves (wembley 2015). For the big ones you have to wait a little bit. You are not ready. Those are The Poet and the Pendulum and The greatest show on Earth. I already did subscribe on the reaction Emma Kok.

Great reaction! Been to this festival 6 times. But it was a long time ago, between 1998-2003 and it was not this big. But it was big back then also:) 20 000 - 30 000 people. And I have soo many great memories from there:)))

My understanding is that the keyboard play Tuomas (also the founder and song writer of the band) wanted to start a folk band, but after seeing Metallica while visiting the states, he switched to heavier music focus.
this woman is such a versatile singer it will blow your mind i love this protest song sounds great such effortless transitions i love what they can do with rhythms with those instruments such a cool pace then i picks up love the rhythmic breakdowns they do and they do them often so many awesome layers of sound ands do they have a big sound, should be playing stadiums arenas thats alright Metallica has a big sound too and they have played with a symphony too on two albums which i have S&M 1&2. and Nightwish is a progressive metal band and have some power metal in there too. Nightwish's music is very intellectually stimulating thats why the folks in this band are top tier as far as the epic and very cool music compositions that Maestro Tuomas Holopainen the Finnish heavy metal Mozart and don't forget about their elaborate light and sound and another very cool thing about this band is they are like the rolling stones or alice cooper group in that they can play in a large building or a small venue and still kill it and make their audiences feel like a million bucks when they play all the live footage i have seen even from 2012 and 2016 ya know they bring their A game everytime

As you have discovered, Floor is Dutch. They seem to have something in the water, as she is not the only great female front woman to come from there. You need to see her perform with her good friend Simone Simons, who fronts Epica. At their Retrospect concert, with full orchestra and choir on stage, Floor was a guest singer on two songs - Sancta Terra ua-cam.com/video/cx22Yuj2nzg/v-deo.html and Stabat Mater Dolorosa ua-cam.com/video/nhtOORYTGx8/v-deo.html In the latter you get to see a Metal head audience appreciate classical music.
I gather Simone is married to a member of Kamelot (who had an album called Epica, which is where her band name came from). Their first singer was Roy Khan, who has since left. But here he performs with Simone as a guest singer - ua-cam.com/video/RsMXxxDMFYY/v-deo.html Kamelot's current singer, Tommy Karevic, is also pretty awesome.
Another Dutchie is Arjen Anthony Lucassen. He is pretty amazing. One of his talents appears to be the ability to attract stellar performers from all over to work with him on his Ayreon projects. Wacken is far north Germany, north of Hamburg. There are several smaller cities around that area too so those lights could be several northern Germany cities. Wacken as a town is fairly small.

I always mention him as our metal Mozart. And that drumming, Jukka, your style is what no one has. I miss you. The current drummer of Nightwish is Kai, I want to say he is excellent professional drummer also.

As far as Nightwish goes, you need no other instructions than to choose any official live performance with Floor and/or Marco on vocals, or any lyrics video form their latest Human.:II:Nature. album.
P.S. This song explores themes of disillusionment, heartbreak, and the destructive nature of love. The lyrics depict a sense of emotional detachment and a feeling of being misunderstood by others.

Floor joined the band intiially to finish the South American and Australian legs of this Imaginarum tour. Every time I'm reminded they played here in Fremantle WA, a stones throw away from where I live, and I didn't even know they existed yet - I die a little inside.

Love your reactions. Remember this is over 10 years ago - the band and Floor have got better and better since then. Suggest any track from the Hellfest in 2022. Or you could try Dreamflight by After Forever - the band she joined at 16 years old. - or anyting by ReVamp the band she created prior to joining Nightwish. You will not be disappointed

Everdream from waken 13.... absolutely one of my favourites
This is an outdoor festival just outside of Wacken German (Pop 10K). Nightwish is very unique. It is much more than just great music. The poetic lyrical content adds a magical quality that speaks to your soul. In addition these talented musician love what they do. They are having fun and smiling and feeling the music which is so infectious. Hope to see you again very soon lovely lady.

With Nightwish you have definitely started the turbo engine when it comes to your subscriptions. If you ever hear something other than Nightwish and want to react to it, I recommend the group "Epica" (the band name says it all), especially the song "Consign to oblivion" in the live version. I bet you'll get your money's worth! At the same time, you open the next rabbit hole! Definitely! I can also unreservedly recommend the German band Rammstein. Especially the song “Du hast” in the live version from the concert in “Paris”! Also the song “Engel”! Another guarantee for the turbo effect of subscriptions! Just by the way. As you can tell from my nickname, I'm a big fan of Nightwish, Epica and Rammstein (in exactly that order)! Now I wish you a lot of fun and great success on your further journey into the secrets of excellent music ;-)

Kind of sad to see all those greate Musicians who are no longer in the Band. Marco an Jukka were stil Part of the Band back in 2013 ... but as we can see with Floor joining the Band back then, the show will go on, hopefully.
Well they just re-signed with Nuclear Blast for a multi-album contract, so that pretty much says they will be around.
As you watch videos of Floor and Nightwish you can tell that the Wacken 2013 was basically a perfect show. Everything in that show went off without a hitch. There is another female fronted Metal band called Epica and their lead singer is Simone Simons. She and Floor have VERY similar singing styles but they are different enough you can tell the difference. I would recommend listening to the song "Storm the Sorrow" as an introduction and then move to Epica's Perfect show, Retrospect 10th anniversary
and listen first to Unleashed. Then when you are ready, Simone brings Floor out at two different points in that concert and they sing Sancta Terra and Stabot Mater Dolorosa and SMD is sung in Latin. Now I don't want to receive all the hate but in my humble opinion, they are the two most powerful and best voices on the planet at this time.
You have stumbled on to something amazing, trust me! NW are rare.
Next one if You would hear more of Marko (the bassist) would be "Ever Dream" from the same concert. And if You like Pink Floyd - Markos singing and the bands tribute to PF with "High Hopes" live from 2005 is a must. New sub here.
Playing the guitar quickly is called tapping and was made famous in the late 1970s by Eddie van Halen from the Band van Halen. He didn't invent it, but he demonstrated its possibilities. Since then it has been standard in metal. Every metal guitarist has to be able to do that, even Metallica.
The situation at the concert is special. 10 months before the concert the band was on the verge of breaking up. Floor is just a temporary helper here and not a band member. A permanent collaboration had already been agreed within the band. Nightwish started with a classically trained singer, switched to a pop singer and now has a classically trained singer again. Floor had given the band their soul back.
The city in the background is a facade on the festival site. Wacken itself only has 2,025 inhabitants:

The festival has 85,000 visitors. There are larger ones with over 100,000 visitors. What sets Wacken apart is the atmosphere. The festival came about because the village's amateur metal band was looking for a place to perform and founded the festival primarily for themselves. The first stage is a borrowed truck that they set up in a gravel pit. The band is the first band to play today. The unofficial beginning is the performance of the local music club. A young talent competition with bands from all over the world also takes place on the site. The “costume group” Wasteland Warrior is created at the festival and has its own stage for its program and festival bands:

I hear them since 1997, i've seen them 3 times live with their first singer Tarja, one oft the best live performances with Tarja (for me) is the song "Creek Marys blood" from the "End of an Era" conzert.
