    7:10 I would highly recommend switching the current waypoint to a target (M) waypoint before using it to mark a target area, since slewing it as a B point will do a radar fix affecting the entire flight plan

    • @Pasta221
      @Pasta221 3 роки тому

      Dang thanks! I was just gonna ask "wont that slee the whole flightplan?" But totally didn't know that M points only moves around the target point and not the whole flight... Makes sense tho, but i never tried worried I'd lose my way home haha

    • @jr0815_aka_gulredrel
      @jr0815_aka_gulredrel 2 роки тому

      thanks, same thought here. Moving B points will mess up whole navigation system. You will not be able to find the following waypoints or need to correct the whole system back using nav fix points.
      Target points M can slewed individually and should be used that way.

    • @Pasta221

      @@jr0815_aka_gulredrel I did learn from the manual that you can hit the clear button once to clear the last nav fix, but I wouldn't rely on it, so def make it an M point first! Or you can even create an Bx point... It's probably not very "realistic" to use a Bx point but in DCS they work just the same as an M point when it comes to mark targets. (The Bx points 1-5 are used as "points of interest" usually navigation point of interest if i understood the manual right, Bx 6-9 are used mostly for the RB-15 to program the missile, its a different topic tho!)

      and if it's not preplanned as a target waypoint you do it by selecting TAKT - INPUT, pressing 9 on the keypad, then selecting the waypoint you want to turn into a target waypoint.

      Not only will it then be a target point but if he switches to ANF after he does it, he will get a target point in his hud so he can see right where the target is and that's good if it's like a wooded area or a dark spot. Also he should have had his hud turned up, his seat adjustment because he was sitting really high, and his attitude and altitude being used a lot more. Also don't put T1 and TV to your trigger. Have the TV be a depress for the maverick slew and I have T1 and T0 as buttons so I can unlock and recenter the maverick seeker. There's quite a bit more things to do like simple things such as making the radar screen slightly red so you can see contrast a lot better and having your maverick brightness and contrast on wheels so you can adjust it in flight on the way to the target depending on how dark it is outside. Also even A1 and A2 so you can quickly switch between white and black hot. The biggest thing he should have done so he wasn't slow was turning on the auto throttle in flight so it held him at a steady 550kph. Honestly I could keep going but this is already insanely long and I doubt most people are going to read through the whole thing.

    Just a correction in regards to the RB 75.
    The RB 75T does not have the zoomed seeker.
    The RB 75s are as follows.
    RB 75 = AGM-65A
    RB 75T = RB 75 but replacing the standard shaped charge warhead with a heavier Blast fragmentation warhead.
    RB 75B = AGM-65B with a zoomed in seeker.
    (Though the RB 75B Designation is Fictional as Sweden never used the AGM-65B)
    So in summary.
    RB 75 = Standard missile.
    RB 75T = Bigger Boom.
    RB 75B = More Zoom.

  • @Mattebubben

    Just a tip.
    You are supposed to leave the master selector to BER (Prep)
    Untill just before takeoff
    (so when you are lined up on the runway basically)
    Since setting it to NAV etc
    Will cause the system to overheat within a few minutes since it does not get enough cooling while on the ground if the computers are all running etc. (And if it overheats it might break and you will get a NAV SYS error etc)

      @@CasmoTV Should be.
      I have not played since January
      (Due to medical reasons)
      but it was correctly modeled from launch ( 2017)
      So i don't see why they would suddenly decide to unmodel it when it already works correctly.
      Also another tip.
      There was no landing in this video,
      But do you use the Landing mode
      (LANDN P/O) for landings?.
      It gives you a landing aid on the Hud to make sure you maintain a
      safe decent rate.
      (don't break the landing gear)
      The way it works is when turned on
      (mode selector to LANDN P/O)
      The HUD symbology Will change once you reach 15m RAlt,
      The flight path Vector marker on the HUD will now show you the proper decent rate. (Horizontal line)
      So all you have to do is keep the flight path Vector marker on or above the horizontal line on the HUD.
      And then on top of that you can also use the Auto throttle if you are feeling particularly lazy 😆.
      When using these landing aids the AJS 37 is extremely easy to land.

      I think it's allowed for a minute max. Initially I also didn't do this, but I was parked not too far away from the runway in my training miz and only switched it when getting out of the HAS. When I learnt about this I went over to do the switch on the "last chance" just shortly before entering the runway where I do my quick checks and things like closing the canopy (because it has to be about 20% cooler when taxiing), arming the seat, enabling RWR, setting TO trim, enabling pitot heat and similar stuff.

    • @Xeno426

    There's an issue with using the TV Fix update like that on a non target waypoint - when you move a waypoint, you are essentially telling the INS " we've drifted, we aren't here, instead we are here " and it says " OK !! bork bork !! " and then shifts all your waypoints accordingly.

    • @Sunesen
      @Sunesen 3 роки тому +4

      Well, it's not an issue, its a feature. You can update the target waypoints and it will only update the target waypoint. But yes if its a navigation waypoint, it will expect that you are trying to do an INS update using the radar and will move the entire flightplan to match how you are moving that one waypoint. That's also why its usually a good idea to put nav waypoints over easily recognized terrain features in the Viggen, so you know if you've drifted from the pre-planned course.

    • @Mattebubben
      @Mattebubben 3 роки тому +4

      @@Sunesen well the issue is that they treated it like a target marker when it was a nav marker.
      So they should have converted it into a target (M) marker before moving it.
      (Data Selector to TAKT/INPUT then pressing 9 on the keypad followed by the button for Waypoint you want to convert)

    • @TLTeo
      @TLTeo 3 роки тому +1

      If you're in SPA mode you can create new markpoints, rather than update waypoints, when you're taking fixes. That's the better way of doing this imo. Also, pet peeve of mine, but the Viggen does not have an INS, it has a Doppler navigation suite.

    • @Sunesen
      @Sunesen 3 роки тому

      @@TLTeo I don't know if there's a hard definition of what a Inertial navigation System is, but doesn't it just refer to any system that the plane uses internally to try and keep a track of where it is supplemented by external sensors?
      As far as I know that could be anything like a doppler system, a radar system or a GPS system.

    the black knob left of HUD, below AoA indicator, increases HUD brightness if turned right. Alternatively LShift-G.

      Great comment, cracked me up, Only now it's the bloody F1s too. Did you get back into it ? There are very few rushes like a well planned early morning Syria recce flight. Through the hills, knowing there's that huge flat plain to get across, hit your waypoint, turn towards the camera start waypoint M2, still low, 20km to M2, head in on the optimum heading, altitude still typically 300ft agl, 5k to M2 stage 3 max burner, zoom to 9000ft agl, level off, M2 camera on, RWR going crazy, those Migs and F1s now know you're there, keep going on heading and altitude, now at Mach 1.2 and building.
      Pow, you hit M3 and the films up.
      Get L1 up, power back and roll the plane over, roll out on heading, and level off at 200ft agl, full stage3, Mach 1.3 get back across the plain and into the hills, hit the coast, beautiful morning light, nice mellow approach, land, taxi into a shelter. open capony, savour the jet noise and hand the film over.
      32 units found. See them on F10.
      Have a brew.
