I like this format for a weekly video. Definitely include a tasting as you did here as I think that adds some more diversity to the video. The combination of it all works well for just a once a week thing. Looking forward to more of these!

Ep. 1 great idea. Something to look foward to every week .I really like the weekly Scotch review idea. I subsribe to Roy's channel, "Aquavitae", and a small channel with a guy from Glasgow called ,"Wiskey Wednesday. They both talk about alot of really good Scotch. Most all of which we can't get here in the US. It will be nice to have reviews of things I can actually buy. Great job.

So weird to me those EC c923 videos caused so much drama / controversy... I thought it was highly entertaining and interesting. The first thing I did was check the bottles I had, lol. One of the things I love about the bourbon "hobby" is all of the rabbit trails - the barreling and bottling process, the sourcing myths and rumors, what constitutes a "batch", blending techniques, etc, etc.... The fact that those conversations would upset people is kind of hilarious - who gets upset about whiskey? lol

Rumor is at least 14 different micro batches of Larceny A124. I say BRING IT ON. 14 reviews.. probably at least a million views and 10k subs. Easy work 😂
Drew Mayville supposedly told folks at a recent dinner event that the unused barrels from what would have otherwise been 2021 GTS were left to age further and eventually used in GTS 2023.
If true, that would mean this year's GTS actually has 17 year old barrels in the blend. That age, plus the fact that those barrels were originally considered too off profile (or whatever) might explain the differences you are experiencing too (compared to the more traditional Stagg profile you were expecting).
Note: I did not hear this firsthand, but a social media user says they attended the dinner and asked him if it went into Stagg Jr, as had long been speculated, and he said it went into 2023 GTS instead. I would give the link to the thread but it will delete my comment. But you can find it on the popular "red" site with a large bourbon subgroup. Look for the comments in a review of Mister Sam Tribute Whiskey (Batch 3, 2023).

You should do a tasteoff of different Michters 10 2023 date codes. Not for the controversy, for the science. Think of it as a myth busters episode. Do it blind.
Same type of blind would be good for your GTS and WLW flights. Those comparisons dont seem to exist.
All of those are videos that would get views.

Love the ideas, but I have to ask what the benefit is in doing the M10 barrels blind? I could see it for GTS and WLW, though even still because they’re such older vintages I don’t really have any preconceived notions going in. Genuinely asking, not trying to be a turd lol
@@DrumsAndDrams m10b 2023 is more important to do blind to see if A code beats or is comparable to the other 2023 date codes. Agree the BTAC doesn't matter much if you won't have any preconceived opinions.
Though I will say one funny thing about tasting GTS blind. I blinded samples of 2020 and 2022 GTS on Christmas Eve as a Christmas present to myself. After a while, I was sure I found the grassy note you have talked about on one of the samples, but it was still my favorite anyway. Turned out my favorite that I thought might have a note that could be described as "grassy" was 2020. Ha! Couldn't find anything like a grassy note in 2022. Ah well.
@@TheDwarfInvasion I feel dumb - for some reason I only had M10 A batches in my head. Duh, of course you meant other months’ bottlings lol. If I had some more samples from different months I’d totally do that! Only have A barrels here though.
Your GTS story is funny - I actually thought I found it on the 2023 as well. Maybe it’s a feature of a lot of it that I just never picked up til the 2022.. I dunno. But now I can’t turn down my sensitivity to it and it’s killing me!

Meh Internet hate isn't hate cause most keyboard warriors wouldn't make those same comments in person. Great idea to not have to shoehorn your best of 2023 in 2023. January is a slow month anyways so plenty of time to lock in the best list you can.
You’re prolly not gonna like this idea, but since Pandora’s box is already open why not try to discern more variations within a single batch for other ECBP’s, Stagg / Stagg Jr.’s etc.? This is probably a thing for other distillers annual batched products as well. Do it for bourbon science, who cares if you ruffle more feathers?! You discovered a new truth.
