We had one KP-525 and two ST-470s thats when horses were Clydesdales not Shetland ponies.
Wow way back in the 70's my high school used to play Adams MN in sports. They were so small that their basketball court was the size of a stage. They ended up consolidating with Rose Creek and Elkton to become Southland High School. I am sure with the farm consolidations, the town continues to shrink. Nice area though. And... The buyer on the phone was from Claremont MN, small town in the same sports conference, which also is no longer there but consolidated with Dodge Center and West Concord to make the school Triton.
I watched to the end and I would have taken both too! Good buy, cheap HP! I would be glad to run them for the farmer!
He actually got a pretty good deal, over 1000 hp of tractors for what I'm sure is less than a new quad track goes for. And you don't need a laptop to work on these old dogs!!
A new quadtrax is between 650,000 - 750,000
Depends on how on old the person that lives in it for 15 hours a day for 3 months straight.
Where does planting or harvest run for 3 months?
They're in top shape!
Shows how sick of electronics some farmers are
You are correct about that. There's a lot of work left in these older Stiegers.
We have nothing I mean nothing with auto steer, DEF or any on that crap... We Dont need it..Looks like 1979 around home most days..
@@davehughesfarm7983 our little farm I grew up on didn't have anything like GPS, etc. If you're planting corn, you looked across the field and picked out a big tree and aimed for it, that was homemade GPS.
@@tomchrisfield7348 we still have ZERO gps..I dont need it..
@@tomchrisfield7348 Yep. Maybe some farmers have never tried it and are afraid. But all the farmers I my area use it, like you said hand made or store bought GPS with the steering being controlled. How often do you see over or under spray or missed patches in planting anymore. That's the power of GPS folks, and it's easy to install and use. Any serious farmer trying to make a living fits their tractors with it. Money saved I fuel, seed, chemicals and variable rate gets to a whole new level. It's in every farmers interest if they want to compete to use it.
I remember working on these models when they were new and I was much much younger !
Great tractors for there time.....
Hi, Folks.
For my money, this auctioneer is almost as sharp as 4 pounds of wet leather. He has TWO people taking bids by phone and he doesn't have the sense to SHUT UP and give the people on the phones a chance to hear what the their potential buyers are saying on the other end.
Good buy for the bidder who did get them though.
Just my 0.02.
You all have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
not much electronic shit on these bad boys , nice to have em , we had one and the rest end and front end we replaces with some rearends off of a ford tandem dump truck
Not possible
Update the AC in them be all set
I hate it when they go choice!
When I was a kid they have a huge farm show in our town and its where the Steiger tractors were built, anyway at this farm show I was pulling a Dakon Deep Till implement with a brand new Tiger II Steiger it was if the most powerful 4 wd tractor then it was 2nd most. Beautiful tractor and I was looking at the Deep till and it was only the width of the duals on the tractor no more and I was thinking hos little this thing was and how easy it was going to be to pull it. Well I took off to go and start demonstrating this implement and Dad said dont run the implement any deeper than 2 1/2 feet deep. Well I get out in the field and start digging and I think I am down about the right depth and the tractor is working hard to pull this so of course like every other dumb kid I keep going deeper, I could feel the tractor slipping traction and at not quite 3 ft deep it stopped the tractor dead in its tracks, of course then I raised the implement and went back to my requested depth and all was fine very little slippage but good grief could that deep till dig!!!
A red river valley boy too. Well deep tilling in the valley clay takes an enormous amount of horsepower, tye only tractors aside from Big Buds which were rare I our time but we had neighbors north in Kennedy with a 525. Anyway, Stiegers not only had the horsepower but more importantly they were the most heavily made tractors so traction was their strong suit. We borrowed our neighbors 12 bottom DMI to pull with our AC 8550 and we had the HP but traction was an issue. Just super well made beast machines. Different level of engineering than Allis or Versatile.
@@heatmoon Christopher that is interesting I did not realize that the Steigers were that much heavier than the rest, I also agree with you completely it was always the traction that gave way pulling this implement! I must admit I was also rather enthralled with the Steiger I was driving since I was a young teen and it was the most powerful tractor I had ever driven and it was brand new, still had the plastic on the seat, I will always remember that day! Now my plow tractor is a 1959 730 JD row crop diesel, still extremely fun in its own way!
Wow, @machinery Pete. Didn't see "takes them both" coming. How about video of the 8530 JD. Heard that went very high.
That video of the 8530's coming tomorrow Andy....stay tuned!
Kiii ik ik ijiijijiiiiioi
Andy, , , I'm no fortune teller either, but about 2/3 of the way through the bidding, the thought popped into my head because the number was low enough, & bidding not gaining much momentum , I have been burnt a few times on The Choice deals like that, where the 2nd item sells for higher than the 1st :( It does not happen often, but I have been the victim :(
Those tractors are simple by today’s standards but the Allison, Cummins and RABA components won’t be cheap.
What RABA parts does it have?

Our Tiger 3 did anybody
Anyhow*
@@freebooter247 Thought RABA was a EU model of Steiger
@@freebooter247 Hungary is i EU
May have been a good deal by today's standards but if it had been me I can't imagine taking them at 2X the money. I would have taken the best one then ran the other one again. Might have saved a few thousand bucks.
Yup...that is what usually happens.
He would have saved 20,000
Stieger were a victim of the 80s drought and.crap grain market. Only Big Bud made heavier duty tractors. Nothing really compared to these. We used to borrow a 12 bottom plow DMI fr our stieger owning neighbor, while our Allis 8550 had plenty of horsepower it lacked the weight that stieger built their stuff with and tractions was the only issue. You haven't seen over engineered until youve seen DMI
Actually for the HP rating the Allis Chalmers was very heavy, the problem was the engine was capable to pull much more then it's rating. An 8550 wasn't even close to the Tiger, it wasn't actually in a Panther class, the HP was in a cougar categories
Omaha, Nebraska, I wonder if it was any farmers I work with.
Doubtful..
Start, rev, stop - ouch
Nah not to much..It was warm...
What does selling “choice” mean?
Means buyer can buy both or just one it’s up to whoever has the highest bid if they chose one than someone else has the option to buy the other one for the same price
Far from bullet proof that KTA Cummins motor was not a good motor had a lot of head trouble
Would think 700+ horsepower easily attainable
Easily with a kta Cummins
You guys talk power... then completely ignore everything behind it that has to hold the power.
@@ShainAndrewstorque is what tears them up
That Cummins engine craps out you are toast . Engine worth more than tractor
Nope ...Theres plenty of these engines aroound...
It can be rebuilt no problem. Engine is not worth more than the machine. Not even close.
No electronic everything. No government juice. Hmm who would have thought?
And they SUUUCK to run all day.
@whistlindiesel one of these would be great for some new content 😆 tug of war with the new monster truck?
Bidding against the internet,The other man should be standing
Thats funny. In our neighborhood 85 modle with duals went for only 16k. Had new tires on it also. Fools and their money are soon parted...
Not possible
Dirt Cheap!!!
We can ;nik

That's absolutely ridiculous bidding.
Not worth what they got for them
Worth much more, to farmers that are in business to make money, rather then play "impress the rubes"
Still not worth that money
@@aaronjarvenpa1743 you probably voted for Biden
No I didn’t
@@RJ1999x Not worth the money. They suck fuel like it's going out of style. Put less power to the ground, further using more fuel. They are loud, and uncomfortable.
Vastly overpriced
Not even close to over priced when you consider the cost of a new 500 horse tractor. And these are all mechanical engines which is what is driving up the price of nice late model tractors cause guys are tired of the DEF fueled electronic nightmares they can’t work on without a dealer service tec.
@@srobliski What my mate would say about them they are a forever motor.
@@freebooter247 And the crudest cab even in it's day.
@@GermanShepherd1983
That’s a damn nice cab I always thought.
GM steering column and A/C controls.
The engineers should have made the SCV’s electronic I thought.
Rome/Woods-Copeland did it several years before.
@@Oliver66FarmBoy They'll be in a collectors barn. Prices are going up with all the money going into old tractors as collectibles. Something breaks either you have an entire fab shop of your own or you got $$$ to pay a fab shop to recreate the part.
