The remarkable moment when Nardole went from being "Somewhat irritating" to "I want to see this character again"
Nardole and Donna are two characters that, based on their initial appearances, I thought I'd never want to see again. Yet they both turned out to be incredible companions.
@@tkinsey3 Absolutely! I couldn't stand Donna Noble at first, but she became a really great companion. I love how she always called the Doctor on his bull. Nardole seemed like disposable comic relief at first, but turned out to be a capable companion.
@@Ladco77 Well I think that's down to the fact that they both weren't going to be companions when they started, they were comic relief weirdos. But then they became companions and the writing had to be better so people wouldnt be irritated XD
@@Ladco77 Same here, I thought I'd be annoyed every second she was on screen, I guess that was the whole idea, no one expected much from Catherine Tate and she turned out to be awesome.
Right?
Capaldi’s acting + moffat’s writing + Murray golds score = perfection
Dont forget the rachel talalay directing bonus multiplier for episodes like heaven sent & world enough and time, etc.
The dark, lonely or human side of the doctor was played beautifully by Capaldi. A very underrated Doctor.
Already miss him.
People say all the nuwho doctors are underrated. I see that for all of them in the video comments on youtube lol
@@sushiluvrluvzme Jodie definitely isn’t underaited since she’s terrible
@@steampunkfox4932 my comment was directed to the comment about Capaldi. The 13th doctor is terrible and so is the writing. The only episode I thought was even decent was the one where she got the fez.
@@sushiluvrluvzme I know your comment was directed towards Capaldi
Loved him as The Doctor.
How INCREDIBLE would it have been if Donna had met this doctor? The SHOCK of seeing his face after The Fires of Pompeii...
Steph Man too bad if she remembered her brain would burn and she would die.
I panicked! At the chemical Bøy true; they'd have to find a way around that I guess
Well there is a way round it. One of Twelve's final actions before he finally regenerates might be to visit a dying Donna at the end of her life. She's dying anyway so it won't hurt. To put all the memories back. In her head. They are back. She can die knowing what she did, who she was, as well as having had a long and happy life. The Doctor Donna looks at him as she starts to burn and says don't be bloody stubborn that's my job, get out there and save people. Like you saved him. Points at face.
@@stephman3154 don't forget Amy Pond was in that episode too.
@ilikebacon who said explode? Burn up was the phrase iirc and if you are literally hours from death would you rather a few more scraps of ignorant existence or die in a blaze of glory?
One of Peter Capaldi's FINEST moments as the Doctor! The foreshadowing of Twelve's End really shows in this scene! The heartfelt speech mixed with that gorgeous Silence In The Library music in the background, helps to create a wonderful scene in a very good Christmas Special!
Samuel Darlington You mean the end card right!
well done sam!

Fun fact: Doctor Mysterio is what they call Doctor Who in Mexico.
Fun Fact: he still had the brakes on at the end
Came here to find this comment!! Thank you!
Fun fact: During the World Tour, Peter loved the idea of using that name for the show again, but fans didn’t like it! I’m glad Steven Moffat gave him the opportunity to be ‘Doctor Mysterio’ as he wanted!
No it’s not
20 years living in México and have yet to meet a mexican that watches doctor who might be in the wrong area
@@Clutch_Shadow My theory is the brakes just make the Tardis stable in flight just in case you don't have the recommended 6 pilots.
“Everything ends and it’s always sad.....but everything begins again too, and that’s......always happy” I love that line and personally I know it’s so true!
I may be a deaf man but that hasn't stopped me from enjoying Doctor Who!
I'm so thankful for *sub titles* because it makes me feel like I'm apart of something
and it's awesome to be apart of *Doctor Who*
They say when you want to enjoy something, you'll find a way. And you, sir, are living proof of that.
Ey, that's really cool! Hope you have a FANTASTIC day! God bless!

I don’t think I could ever possibly forget that-
I think she said wrong question not one question

I'm going to miss River. She was awesome. I always knew the episode was going to be great as soon as I heard those two beautiful words...
River Song will neer leave the show; why? Because she will be the coreprogram for the new timemachine the Curator will build when the TARDIS has died and he is trapped in and thru human history..the British museum IS the Library and the Labry is the new New Timemachine hes been building since/when /while he was/will be trapped in the past in the future...thats what we have been seing since series 3.

Her name was Alyssa Mann and she was my best friend. She always listened without judgement, she always cared, and she always reminded me of the right path to take. RIP my dear friend. This is for my friend Alyssa who passed away 2 days ago.
Sorry for your loss man
I hope that you are well now. And as a great man once said "Those who love us, never truly leave us."
I believe in that every day of my life. It helps.
So sorry for your loss
I'm sorry for your loss
I know what that’s like…
That toy's squeal after "Yes, yes I'm okay" always gets me. Because its clearly how the Doctor feels inside at that moment, being reminded of losing River again.
Omg they used the original ‘Don’t forget to Subscribe!’ This excites me probably more than it should!
MATE IT ALWAYS-SUBSCRIBE TO THE OFFICIAL DOCTOR WHO UA-cam CHANNEL
Also saddens me because I know he’s leaving VERY soon 😭
RealWhovianGamer There’s two versions of it, the original and a second one that has been used since 2016 I think?
Capaldi era was terrific. Great stories, great acting, great directors.
Man, I'm gonna miss Capaldi so much 😭
really?
Me too.He actually reminded me of previous doctors, and yet,his doctor was his own. Please don't go Peter!!!
My second favourite doctor
Me to.
L0rd Greasy and what do you mean "really" is is the best revi al doctor.
Without question, 12 is the single greatest Doctor there ever was and ever will be.
“He’s the Doctor... he’s very brave and he’s... very silly... and I think for a time.. he’s going to be very sad... but I promise, in the end... he’ll be alright.”
That’s really a kind of summary of The Doctor’s pain and peril. He’s lived so many lifetimes over and had to deal with so much loss and so much... loneliness, but he somehow always finds a way to be okay in the end. It’s not that he wants to or that he needs to but.... it’s just who he is. The Doctor Eternal
"Everythings ends and it's always sad. But everything begins again and it's always happy." This was profound, Doctor.
The feels in this scene
He's my second favourite Doctor, behind Matt Smith.
Personally he is my number 1; number 2 is David Tennant and number 3 is Matt Smith. ^^;
Capaldi, Eccleston, Tennant....Smith dead last xD
+Commander Von Pussy Hagen New Who: Smith, Capaldi, Eccleston and then Tennant stone dead last!

ua-cam.com/video/agRTtcEfTaE/v-deo.html
Silence in the Library - After her death
ua-cam.com/video/hzeeAUeIOzc/v-deo.html
The perfect description of the feelings a whovian gets with a new Doctor...it's sad, it's happy at the same time...and through all of it the Doctor is always there to save the world, whether we are sad or happy
I wish you were back, Doctor. Miss you.
The quote that actually made me move on after going through huge changes in my life. My favorite line from Twelf.
This is one of the few episodes where we see the Doctor sort of by himself, like the times where Tennant had a one-off companion: you actually see the Doctor acting on his own initiative and it connects better with an audience as we all have our own unique walks of life.
This is why Capaldi is my favorite. No one does emotional depth, sadness especially as well as he does. Just like his leaving the battlefield speech.
“Things end, that’s all. Everything ends, and it’s always sad, but everything begins again too, and that’s always happy.”
That quote will always resonate with me
I’d like to request an upgrade please, this video violated my emotions on every level and now my heart is shattered. I’m not ready for Peter to leave. He’s been an amazing Doctor and an even more wonderful human being who has had such a positive impact on many fans, myself included. Thank you Peter.
YOU ARE NOT UPGRADE COMPATIBLE. EMOTIONS CANNOT BE SUPRESSED
Nobody's ever ready, but we all muddle through.
This was such a devastating season for Doctor he lost everything he ever had in his life from Rory and Amelia, Clara and then Bill and River too.
Similar to the end of 10's reign. He lost Rose, Martha, Captain Jack, Rose AGAIN in an even more heartbreaking way, Donna. Everyone. He was left VERY alone and he didn't even have a Nardole to keep him together which is when he slipped into the Timelord Victorious. It would have been interesting to see 12 get to that place as well if repetitive and I liked the way his story ended.
His speech is literally what I say in my head when a Doctor regenerates
It's my literal life motto
I'm going to guess that the Doctor saying he's not the right person to ask about "life not being a comic book" is a reference to the fact that the Doctor stars in loads of comics himself, right?
But the comic book too.
I'd go with the "he pretty much *lives* a comic book life" explanation.
Hello there
One comic I remember stars the Eleventh Doctor, and a talking, intelligent T-Rex with mechanical arms. Unfortunately I don’t remember the name.
"We're all stories in the end, so make sure its a good one."
Peter Capaldi truly shines here. Its been a Pleasure to travel with you. Be Happy Peter, we take care of anything else.
40 years waiting for the perfect Dr...... Peter Capaldi I thank you.
cheekyoziechick
The perfect Dr was Patrick Troughton and Jon pertwee
Oh yes..Jon Pertwee is really when I became obsessed with Dr Who after his regeneration..no one stood the test of time with me....until Peter Capaldi. He and Jon. Older and wiser..just who I would want The Doctor to be.
All the Doctors are perfect to someone
Peter Capaldi is one of the best doctors
@@junethanoschurchill6750 personally, mine will always be Mr Bean.
I love how this whole thing started with him trying to get Rory and Amy back
I don't think, he was probably trying to prevent the river death, or something to do with invasions, at this point he shouldn't care too much about them
@@Erik-we8tf nah, why else would he be in New York of all places with such a powerful crystal? He'd just lost his wife, after 24 years with her, probably wanted to see the in laws again
@@matthewlacey4198 in the episode shows that there were aliens in new york, he probably already knew that
@@Erik-we8tf true, I think he says something about fixing past temporal disturbances in New York and says they're his fault when hes talking to grant (that's his name, right?) on the rooftop
@@matthewlacey4198 yes, but I don't think he was talking about amy there, even because the temporaral disturbances were caused by the angels, and these disturbances ended in that episode
It was weird, yet poignant to have this inspirational message from the Doctor coming out of a year with so many celebrity deaths and also a death in my own family. Never underestimate just how great it can be.
The message is back!!! :D
The Gunslinger I
God damn I miss 12
This scene made me confident that Nardole would be amazing in series 10... I was not wrong
I’ll be sad to see the “don’t forget to subscribe to the official Doctor Who UA-cam Channel” outro end...
I might forget to subscribe to the official Doctor Who UA-cam Channel if they get rid of it. :O
This aired a few months after losing my childhood dog, it got me in the feels hard that night.
That line melted both my hearts. This is why Capaldi is my favorite!
That was such a beautiful scene. I have loved this show my entire life. It makes me sad how broken it has become, I couldn't watch the end of the last series.
We will miss you Capaldi
That moment you finally see him undo his collar. Capaldi was riding furiously into his Doctor's final adventures looking like the Maverick he was.
Peter is *SO GOOD*!! You can *feel* the Doctor's grief over losing River and it's so sad.
"Everything ends and it's always sad."
Well, I felt nothing but joy whenever the semester ends
I would give anything to see Peter Capaldi do another season as the Doctor with Russel T. Davies writing.
This episode wasn't the best, but that ending was sure great.
we got a glimpse at what Doctor Who would be like if the Americans ran the show and.... no no.... please god no no no
The 1996 movie was a view of that this is 10x better
absurdrhino, this was not Americans running the show at all. A better example would be Series 6, and I wasn't quite fond of that.
Happy Industries The majority of the scenes in America were from the opening two-parter, which was critically acclaimed, so...
Nitroblast, again, that wasn't Americans running the show, but it was the closest we got to it. And just because it's critically acclaimed, doesn't mean everyone likes it. Also, I think quite a lot of people don't like TWORS, and that has quite a lot of American influence to it too.
Everytime I hear "Don't Forget to subscribe to the official Doctor Who youtube channel" I wonder if it will be the last time...
Everything ends and it’s always sad, but everything begins again too and that's always happy. Be happy.
Ryan Paton NOOO, I've got a week before that day, just give me that week before I cry
The music from Forest of the Dead playing got me in the feels.
Love that the library theme from season 4 returned for this scene..... genius
I hope no one forgot to subscribe to the official Doctor Who UA-cam channel
I loved Capaldi as the doctor. I really disliked a lot of the storys he got, Damned if he didn't do the best with what he had
yeah I feel the same
he saved most of the stories with his great acting
EMOJIBOTS!
Kill the Moon was such a stupid script, but the falling out between him and Clara at the end was epic. Both Peter and Jenna are astoundingly good actors.
He most certainly did.
Damn, I miss when Doctor Who was about these little moments, that music, and the feels!
So I stopped watching when 11 left, and heard that you could start watching again with Series 10, but I didn't want to do that. I went back to 11's last episode to recap kinda, and continued watching right to the end of Series 10. Absolutely spectacular. 12 is my second favourite after Tennant, and this scene almost made me cry, because when I watched it, we already knew he'd be leaving and that Jodie would be the Doctor.
Yes but please watch series 8 and 9. 8 isnt that great its decent and 9 is amazing especialy the first two episodes with davros.
Φαλκον Papaphilps, Yeah, don't worry, I did. I watched all of Capaldi's episodes.
ever tried watching any other doctors apart from 9 to 12, there are loads more beside these 4
I can't believe they fixed the end card. My right ear doesn't feel special anymore.
I actually love how it feels like the Doctor Who channel is getting on the 'Don't forget to subscribe' meme.
Really liked Nardole here - loved how he was looking after the Doctor and the serious tone he takes on when he says that he"ll make sure the Doctor will be ok.
This Christmas is gonna be sad
This makes me think of 10th regeneration.
Everything ends and it's always sad, but then everything begins again an that's always happy.
From the "I don't wanna go" to the "GERONIMO!" it's a perfect example of that.
2:33 The face of a madman ...
I love it
I can imagine an edit where as he says "everything begins again" we cut back to when the Doctor first met River back in Silence in the Library. Cyclical nature of things! It gives me the big sed.
I love you so much, you always find the right scenes to make me really want to watch the christmas special
Thank you for the message at the end, I really wanted it back :")
be happy too, doctor. i will miss you
"Be happy....I'll take care of everything else."
The greatest hero of them all.
PETER CAPALDI I WILL MISS YOU😭😭😭
I DO MMISS HIM
also what do YOU think of the 13th doctor?
Great speech; It reminded me of when I break up several months ago, how sad I was when it ended but I’ve got to have faith that things can begin again. they did once before and can happen again. Love the boss moment at the end; that look in his eyes and the attack eyebrows that said the old man has his swagger back.
Peter you were great. What a dr.
Man, Doctor Who really's been an incredible show. To speak on such large-scale questions of Being like this and still sort of be a children's show, there is so much value to a story like that. Magnificent.
I just wish I could travel with The Doctor and help him whenever he feels sad or angry. It's one of my dreams.
12 connected so deeply with me here, I can feel his pain. I'm gonna miss him soooo much.
I'm really going to miss Capaldi! :(
Rocky Pictures Me too. :(
This scene is even more sad and beautiful now that we know Twelve is leaving.
Oh and “Don't forget to click below to subscribe to the official Doctor Who youtube channel”
We will miss you,Peter. And we will remember you. You were one of the best.
Dont cry because its over
Smile because it happened!
RIVER SONG
Breaks my heart every time. This is so true and so painfully true right now as my best friend lies dying.
I remember this quote when I see every franchise die, but I just know that everything will start over again and that makes me happy
"Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened."
We've had a wonderful Doctor.... And I can assure you... you will always remain the Doctor 💙💙
💙💙 Thank you Capaldi 💙💙
Every Christmas is last Christmas :'(
This Doctor seemed to have more depth to me. His pain and sadness, yet he is still the hopeful, kind Doctor underneath.
Peter was a dang fine doctor and no one can tell me otherwise
No one talks about the in between end and beginning. That hurts more than the end
Admittedly, I don't enjoy this episode much upon re-watch but this scene always redeems it. Wonderful acting by Capaldi alongside the throwback musical score.
This is one of Peter Capaldi's best moments as the 12th doctor
Lets hope his final story is a good and fine story for him
One of my favourite Capaldi moments! And a really ominous, foreshadowing line when he announced that he would be leaving just a month after this aired
Everything was amazing irem thank you, thank you for everything
I kind of like that the question "Doctor Who?" has more than one answer. Really, it has an answer for every heart the story lives in.
I keep coming back to this scene. It really is brilliant writing, and it just so fantastically depicts the problem of loss in the human experience. The Doctor, representation of the Good, Thinking Man, is struck by loss and is at once cognizant of the necessity of it in Being as well as very sad about it nonetheless. To be is to suffer but also to witness great joys, and so it is worth experiencing nonetheless.
"Everything ends, and it's always sad. But everything begins again, too, and that's happy. Be happy."
He declares a reversal of the Mephistophelian view, that just because things end does not mean it would be better for nothing to have ever begun. To love and suffer is somehow worth it, despite it all.
Nardole, meanwhile, is the representation of the good friend there at the end, and he is to ensure that the Doctor shall indeed recover from the tragedy he endures. A worthwhile and valiant role itself.
Capaldi will forever be MY Doctor
I went from the Lewis Capaldi "from someone you loved" music video, to this quote.
"Everything ends and it's always sad, but everything begins again, too"
I first started actually watching DW with s10 (I had seen many other episodes before but that was the first time I actually watched them in order as they aired), so when it came around to me binging them on streaming starting from the beginning, it was bittersweet that this was the final episode I hadn't seen.
I will miss him so much, his voice, his act, his Doctor
I think this scene and this episode best encapsulates Capaldi's Doctor. A fantastic Doctor marred by subpar stories. The stories themselves weren't always good but Capaldi carried them with fantastic emotion shown in this scene.
Your comment has aged well. I totally agree. Perhaps Capaldi will return for the 60th.
This Christmas Special gets better with every viewing. Really growing on me.
This is so beautiful it made me cry 😭😭😭😭
... but everything begins again, and that's.. always happy.
Be happy.
Honestly one of my favorite quotes, it is just so poignant and beautiful!
Nardole's words mean even more now after season 10 since he did exactly what he said he'd do; he looked after the Doctor. When his glass avatar came back the Doctor thanked him and Bill for everything that they were to him, and it is just heartbreaking to see these scenes again.
"Life's not a comic book, right doctor?"
*Has an entire comic series about him*
"Possibly, I'm not the right person to ask..."
