Maybe it's just me but i'm happy you included the fact that he stated, he was a dad. So many people forgot that quote. It makes his sadness, and loneliness so much worse. Not only did he kill his people to save so many more, he had to kill his children, and lover. Somethig that normally destroys someone beyond functioning, yet he still moves forward.
@@vengeence6976 well it's mentioned atleast three times in very easy to miss lines. Once by 9, then 10, then 11. 11's was toward Amy when he noticed a little girl upset during their first adventure. It was to the wording "any parent would know when a child is upset."
The sad truth about the 10th doctor is that he lost everyone and he ran from regeneration not because of vanity but because he was the most human as he was scared of death and to him regeneration is death and he regenerated scared and alone
I honestly love 10’s characterisation. I know most doctor who fans don’t but I’m one of the rare few who love classic who AND the tenth doctor. I know it’s definitely a far stray from what the doctor should be but I think that’s why he works
It was heartbreaking to watch him being forced to face what he feared most. He was terrified of dying alone, and he did exactly that. What made his death even more heartbreaking is how he said “I don’t want to go” He genuinely didn’t. He didn’t want to die.
David Tennant is such a brilliant actor. The 10th doctor’s emotional detachment is so heartbreakingly believable because of his ability to look like he’s on the verge of bawling his eyes out.
Ten was so sad. He did so much character building for the doctor. The fact he was a dad, how he changed after he lost rose, and then, after finding out he wasn’t alone, the only other time lord in the universe died. He chose to die, even though he could have regenerated
The most sad thing about Tenth, he tried to change. He did.. but when he tried to get his reward.. he still suffered. People said that Tenth was too emotional. But then after he became more human in Season 3, he grew to became more sad. His adventure was fun.. but also in the end he lose everyone he knew. Tenth.. yes.. Tenth. Even Eleventh met Sarah Jane, he's a different incarnation. Even when he tried to be kind, what happened in Water of Mars become so much pain and sad to him . Yes he tried for fun with Queen Elizabeth, but in The End of Time, when he became selfish to Wilfred... he said he wanted so much more. He lose Donna while Donna wanted happy with him just adventure together.. Losing Rose, made Martha hurts. Or even a woman in the past when he become John Smith and he can't kept his promised with Madame De Pompadour. Imagine that he's sad in his regeneration. Not because the next incarnation of him would be the last (before new regeneration cycle), but his guilt and regrets to so many people he knew. The Man Who Regret. Tenth Doctor.
Luke Durnell thank you! 2005-2010 was doctor who’s best, definitely my era as well. And yeah, lots of love for Liz Sladen. She was an absolute childhood icon for me, I loved her to bits. They NEED to bring Daven Tennant back as the Valeyard somehow. It's so messed up thinking about how 10s arc was always heading towards him become darker and unhinged. Somehow I just feel like his 'I don't want to go' was a final step, giving up on being The Doctor and becoming something else. Taking probably the most beloved incantation of The Doctor since Tom Baker and having them come back as a full villain would be heartbreaking and I want them to do it so badly, to show just how much further he could fall.
I kinda love that idea. The fact that the Time Lord Victorious multi-media event happened and that Russell T is coming back to run the show, and the added thing of the valeyard sprouting somewhere between the doctors 12th and 13th incarnation (Tennant and Smith) I honestly love that so much and would pay to see it.
I think he’s the most relatable doctor in terms of being tired of the loss we all experience. All of us want to live and see everyone around us grow but like all of us and the doctor we only see each others pain more then there joy
