Even though I'm an Orthodox Jew from a chasidish background that grew up in Boro Park, I find this channel fascinating. It's like watching my own community from the outside in, and it's kind of eye opening!

The first fruit you picked up (dark purple/red) is a dragon fruit. The yellow one is the yellow version. They are also called pitaya or pitahaya. The other little purplish one you picked up is a mangosteen.

frieda i realized people knew you in stores and that is why they talked to you wearing pants we were orthrodox and now have become conservative. i found the video great but did not like the comments made about you wearing pants how you dress is your business and no one should judge you.

I’m not Jewish but I think it’s in the Bible that you shouldn’t dress outside your gender. A woman wearing pants is one dressing like a man, I think. That’s where the criticism arises.

As always, excellent content!!! I’m so happy I subscribed to this channel. 😊
The respect you demonstrate, the way you demystify the Hasidic world is beautiful!!! You’re doing the work of HS. It is because of you, and other people on YT, working to make the Orthodox stream of Judaism more relatable, that I believe it will help reduce anti-Semitic behavior out of some. May you be blessed with a long life to continue your work! 😃

I had a miracle that happened to me in Williamsburg that I can never forget. I went early morning one day to get a fresh loaf of bread from a female baker. The loaf was hot after 8 hours being in the dead of the coldest winter. Sadly I don't eat bread anymore.

I love your videos. I was watching what reaction you would get in the neighbourhood. New York ‘s shops are so used to a variety of Jewish practice, but I know people here ( NE England) who are stared at when wearing trousers in a Hasidic area. But that’s the place to get Kosher and Jewish products. Jewish culture is not mainstream the way it is in NY or NJ, where I’m from.

I had a comment to make when I first watched the video, I asked the presenter why she goes in pants in an hasdic community, after an on going conversation with another viewer I would like to say I was not right to tell any one how to dress, especially to someone who puts the community in such a good light. I want to again say how much I love the videos and it's really not my business to judge eny one

I think your comment was fair and nicely said. My daughter and I have debated this when I go into Hasidic stores. I feel odd wearing pants but daughter says they have to respect their customers as no different to if I wore a headscarf.

I remember those coin operated rides like the car the boys were playing on. They were at all the shopping centers when I was a kid back in the 1960s. Slowly they disappeared so I thought they were not made anymore. How nostalgic to see something from my childhood.

Strange to see people buying challah. Challah isn't that hard to make. Baking challah in an Israeli clay, wood burning oven is a must do, very tasty, and in the right group, fun to do. _(Very touristy though.)_ Have you ever been to an Orthodox Kibbutz in Israel? Or tried an actual Succah in the Desert, like near Mitzpe-Ramon? _(Btw, I watched those videos you made of the Heredi Bnei Brak near Tel Aviv. So, you are a bit of a Zionist yourself.)_

I’d love to do all these things! Perhaps one day, if funds allow.
I have a very natural, deep, abundant love for Israel. It comes from the same place that tears involuntarily form when I hear hatikvah. I primal place. Make of that what you will.

@@FriedaVizelBrooklyn Yes, there's one thing that Israel isn't, and that is inexpensive.
Yes, the Hasidic mindset and the State of Israel; have serious issues that, sooner or later, they need to deal with. Neither is wrong. But also, neither is right. _(To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:)_
But that said; I understand your own PoV.
By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion.
We hanged our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof.
For there they that carried us away captive required of us a song; and they that wasted us required of us mirth, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion.
How shall we sing the LORD's song in a strange land?
If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning.
If I do not remember thee, let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth; if I prefer not Jerusalem above my chief joy.
So, I was just teasing that younger version of you. The one who wrote in her school book about Zionists. In truth, the Satmar are Zionists all the same.

@Perer Dalyy - Please don’t take it the wrong way, but what she wears is none of your business. What you choose to do or not do in your own family is up to you. To make a request of someone else is ludicrous. If you’re paying even the most remote bit of attention to the surroundings as she is walking… there’s _many_ people on the streets who are clearly _not_ Hasidic. They’re not dressed frum, why would they?? There’s no need to if it isn’t their lifestyle.
So, do everyone a favor, and sit down… know your place. You’re out of line.

Hello Peter, yes you are entitled to your opinion, the same way as everybody is entitled, but empower me to explain to you that it is not always just the outfits that will mark a person, meaning, that on some occasions from outside you will achieve one impression but the person under this uniform will be in fact something utterly different, like in our case this admirably and well respected Freida is much more holly and purely than her outfit, just don't worry about any bit of her appearance, as the good book says "do not look on the label of the bottle, just look inside on the content rather" "do not judge a book by its cover"

That said, she was reared in an ultra orthodox community, and she is fully familiar with the traditions, etc.; and what she’s doing is perfectly fine. The people around her are kind, and gracious… no one is acting as if she’s committing a shanda by walking through their neighborhood and businesses without a skirt.
Seriously, I realize you were a giyur, but you need to tone down your withering judgment. You aren’t doing anything but showing intolerance as a Jewish trait. You’re dragging us all down to your level with that attitude. Just stop.
