  • I'm grafting several apple cultivars to an old apple tree that seems to be suffering from either Cedar Apple Rust or Apple Scab. The leaves always get blemishes and the tree only sets a few fruit that generally don't make it to harvest. I'm hoping that we'll see that adding several diverse varieties to this tree will lead to a better growing and better producing tree. Next year I hope to provide an update that shows that at least some of these grafts thriving without ailment and in a few years to see fruit production and better pollination of the main tree's cultivar. While the original tree variety is still unknown to me, it is a full size apple that should be worth eating, but maybe not growing compared to the cultivars I am adding. This video is to document which varieties were added on and where they were added so we can follow this experiment over the next few years.
This year we're grafting on the following:
    Gravenstein
    McIntosh
    Macfree
    Yellow Newtown Pippin
    Goldrush
    Northern Spy
