    I commented on this video 6 years ago. Thanks once more. I am researching clutch problems about every 2 years and Gary Croyle's videos are always the most informative to me. I try to buy Perfection whenever that is a choice.

    You are a godsend. For the last seven days I've been cursing why God doesn't love me. Then I find your video. I have an International Prostar class 8 semi truck. All it took was to remove the four bolts holding the slave cylinder. Then gravity feed the fluid down to the cylinder. I gravity bled it twice, then used a socket extension like on the video to push down on the piston inside the cylinder. I heard a wonderful sound comming from the reservoir up top. It was bubbles. I did it a second time, and there was that wonderful sound again. On the third time, I heard nothing. I did it one last time and heard nothing. I got up from below the truck and pushed on the clutch pedal, and felt it hard. It was so emotional. I was so happy all I could do was thank the lord and you kind sir.
    A vacuum pump is not needed to gravity bleed, but I used it anyways since I had been using it for the last seven days for hours on in trying to bleed the clutch.

    Thanks very much for the vid! I just replaced the master and slave cyls in a parking lot by a mexican restaurant and a mattress shop in Lancaster OH on my son's Jeep. I was pretty intimidated as I have never done this before. However after watching the vid I did it right there with my wife looking for the bubbles instead of pushing the clutch pedal in. Could have not worked better! Thanks again and also for the quality cyls you make.

    Great video. I've just changed my clutch and bleed the system by pumping the pedal and opening the bleeder. After few days, my clutch pedal was gettin stuck on the floor. Checked the clutch system..no leaks and reservior is full. Dunno what was wrong till found this vid. I tried this technique and got rid the air bubbles. Now my clutch is working normal again. I think this technique is more effective...Thx

    Use a new hand pump oil can and hose that fits your bleeder, fill it with new fluid and pump the can until fluid reaches the end of the hose. Then connect that to the bleeder on your slave cylinder. Make sure your master reservoir is half full. Begin to pump the oil can and watch the air bubbles get pushed out of the system until their is no bubbles. Close bleeder
    This is such a better method as air likes to travel upward and in my case the lines would be harder to disconnect for a bench bleed.

    Hey guys,
    i just changed the master cylinder for a 2000 grand am 2.4l, now its taking like forever to bleed it, when i looked on the coupling thing where the push rod sits, i am finding that its way back at the of the cylinder that there isnt any space for me to push, what might be the problem.I looked on the one that i took out i can even touch with my finger , could it be that there is an airlock in the reservoiur what?please help

  • @LittleBouchet

    Nice video. Makes a whole lot more sense than putting everything in the car where you can't get to it, then try to bleed it.I just have one question. I am putting a similar setup on an older Mustang. After you have blocked that slave cylinder with the screw on the puller and finished your bleeding, will that piston stay in after you remove the puller? Or, do I have to depress the cylinder on the slave when I bolt it up to my transmission, and install the push rod to my clutch fork? (I am using a push type slave cylinder just like this gentleman used) I was concerned that the spring pushing outward on my slave cylinder would pre-load my clutch fork and throw-out bearing. Anyone who has performed this, I would love hear your comments. Thanks

    • @LittleBouchet
      @LittleBouchet 8 років тому

      +perfectionclutch I will double check the slave that I received, could be I received the wrong one. It does have the circlip retainer that you mentioned and the dimpled plate is pushed out against the circlip retainer as if it has some type of spring in it. That is what has me confused, as I need the slave to push against my clutch lever, and I just assumed the normal position of the piston in the slave would that it be bottomed out on the other end, and not pushing out against the circlip retainer. This is my first experience working with a hydraulic clutch, and I just want to make sure it works before I put it in the car. I plan to bench bleed my whole system just as you did in the video and make sure it is good to go. I have read so many forums were someone has installed a system it their car, the it barely releases the clutch, or not at all, and I feel most of them have not bled their system properly. Again, Thanks for your video, it is very informative. ~Rick~

    Hi, I have a 98 s10 with a sbc 350 and a nv3500 transmission. The slave cylinder is right above the starter. I have a a new braided line on it and a new clutch master. I've bled the system but it will only go into gear when the truck isn't running. Any ideas cause its driving me crazy.lol

  • @19jody72
    @19jody72 3 роки тому

    So.. on the slave, push the piston all the way in and keep it locked in some way?
    Then open the bleeder on the slave 3 or 4 times. Close the bleeder off. Let the slave piston come out.
    Then push the piston in several times...
    Then it should be bled, correct?

    The only thing I wasn't 100% clear on is if that is the actual line from the car, or are you using that line to prime just the cylinders and will they hold their prime if you were to attach them to another line in the car? Obviously that line would need to be bled? Thanks

      perfectionclutch: I used the C- clamp method on my 350Z today, and it worked PERFECTLY! I believe the clutch system in these vehicles are known to be difficult to bleed, with the few loops in the hard lines; but, the air bubbles were removed in a relatively short period of time.

About a year and a half ago I did the same job. No issues no problems. If all is new what is the issue? I have all of your products in my truck and it won't move because of your junk! Why can't I force it to work?

    I did what this guy did right down using the same brand fluid he's using. Never heard using a steering puller or hanging the system up like an iv would be set up. I even used a hand vacuum pump and still NOTHING. Clutch pedal goes to floor. Instructions that came with perfection hydrolics. Under normal use, small amounts of air remaining will be purged from the system. So what's the deal? Why does the pedal goes to the floor?

    Damn dude...that's the long way around.....the easy way? As taught to me by old guy 40 + years ago....I must be good at keeping secrets...I never told anybody....bolt all the parts in....you can do that, right? You need to pay careful attention to the next part...it being super secret and all...fill the master, someplace on the cap there is s vet hole..DO NOT OPEN BLEEDERS! Make sure the pedal is up....ok ready? Get s rubber tip blow gun and give a couple quick shots of air in the hole....should be done deal,right;)
