I think a follow-up video of Dressrosa Bellamy is deserved. His encounter with Luffy in Jaya and the events leading up to Dressrosa has changed him. I LOVE Bellamy as a character because while he has the ability to literally bounce back like Luffy, he lacks the will and dreams to become a great pirate in the One Piece world.
In many ways he is really just like Luffy. But as you said, their powers tell you exactly what they are. Bellamy can bounce and punch just like Luffy, but he isn't as bendable or malleable as him. Bellamy has a lot of restrictions, his Awakening would just make things into springs. But Luffy is free.
One Piece has an interesting definition of what is 'manly' or 'strength'. To the story of one piece the freest person is the most powerful. Every other charecter eventually falls to the weight of the world in some way and compromises their dreams. But Luffy never does. He runs full force at his dreams and forces the world to shape to his whims. When the world told him to change he looked at it and said, no you change.
I think oda once said that nami, is the Strawhat who he uses to show what emotion we as the viewer must me feeling during a particular scene, so her being there is a great addition
That whole scene of Luffy telling zoro to not fight back at all and zoro understanding and taking the beating with his captain was a usually forgotten masterpiece.
The spring spring fruit is my favorite detail about this fight. Bellamy has a power that is basically just like Luffy, but with no soul, no creativity, just power. My favorite small detail is the fact that Luffy didnt even use his devil fruit to take down Bellamy. No creativity, just power, putting Bellamy down with the only language he knows. Theres no showing off, no celebration.
I’ve always been told that my dreams and aspirations were always too large and unattainable. Which hurt when I was in HS, but once I got to college something just snapped, something inside of me. I decided to embrace my pride and follow the dreams I wanted to. Got a long way to go but will achieve the goal. Great video as always.
I feel that heavy. I want to talk about my experience more in future videos but I definitely felt the sting of people not believing in me or putting down my dreams before they could flourish. Lead to a lot of self doubt even in my youtube career. But if you keep going, put your time in, you’ll come out the other side laughing and smiling at the people who didn’t believe
I have Blackbeard’s speech saved on my phone. Whenever I feel down, feel like giving up, or feel like I’m losing myself, I always come back to it to give me hope. To remind myself of how important my dreams are. To relight that fire of ambition in my heart. And to know that Luffy wouldn’t give up. I love this story.
Glad to know I'm not the only one who feels like this... before Jaya i did like the series but not really to the point of loving it, then i heard what Blackbeard said, and Luffy punching Bellamy like that... both those scenes made me realize i was watching something special, i guess. After that is when i REALLY got into it and started binging it
Maybe the reason why blackbeard did not sleep is to show is, that he has dreams, but they are not the right dreams. Maybe Whitebeard told him that he is not the mand roger was waiting for. His are not real good, because to dream, you have to sleep
I think the panel from last chapter where sun god Nika appears in front of Bonney is the "People dreams never die" scene of the post time skip. It is more emotional, and whereas the original Blackbeard scene could be viewed as a promise for the future, this scene could be viewed as the fulfillment to that promise, the answer to Blackbeard, a concrete and explicit answer in the affirmative.
Maybe this won't even be read... But since you shared your favorite One Piece moment, I want to talk a little about mine: Kuina's death. And why? Because just like in the film Bridge to Terabitia, here death was portrayed as something real... which sometimes happens to those who make the least sense and "without much sense". I'll never forget that part of her father's quote... "people are fragile..." because it is something that, especially in a magical world like One Piece, easily forgotten.
I’ve always loved Jaya but man my most recent reread just completely took it to a different level. It’s genuinely up there with the best of the series and the medium imo
I love the Jaya arc, Mock Town always gave the most pirate vibe out of the surrounding arcs like Alabasta and Skypiea, Luffy one shotting Bellamy in the beautiful night of Mock Town always made me replay that scene despite me making it to episode 954 of One Piece now.
Bellamy, as a character is a testament to odas writing capabilities. He went from being one of the most hated characters in the series to becoming an underdog who reconciled with the strawhats during dressrosa and garnered sympathy from the audience. It makes the world of One Piece feel alive and organic. I found the cover story with him becoming an apprentice for a jolly Roger designer to be really endearing. I'm looking forward to him crossing paths with luffy again.
In retail I was mocked for having a dream most of the time. Walking away made me feel amazing to see if I can work on youtube full time, it's going ok for now and most importantly I'm happy I'm giving it a shot. I also can't wait to prove people wrong and achieve my dream with one day becoming a youtuber that transitions to me being a great game developer. Great video.
I still remember watching this for the first time not understanding why Luffy did what he did but it all made sense when I kept watching One Piece there’s much little things the series does but people don’t really seem to see them. And being a artist is def rough whether it’s the good or bad but it’s important to never let that dream die. Shoutout to Zaskaii for cooking on the editing and Johnny for the story telling.
Ngl everything you said is the same reason I fell in love with one piece this episode and the one where they visit the platform where Roger was executed hooked me onto the series
Man, I wish that one day I'll have the drive and dedication to try a conversion like this! I'm gonna use your video's to inspire me. Edit:Was a bit drunk and mixed up the comments. This was meant for a Tyranids conversion video. Your video is also really great, it made me realise how awe inspiring the Jaya period was and recontextualise the "DREAMS" speech.
Just wow!!! This video was made beautifully, felt like I was watching a movie. Your way of storytelling is absolutely amazing 👏 you earned yourself a like and a sub. Keep going
Fire content bro keep it up. The Jaya arc is one of the reasons I love one piece and the double spread of Blackbeard talking about dreams is like top 3 favorite moments
Thanks for making this analysis. Bellami is such an interesting character. He probably got corrupted by Do Flamingo and blinded by being under his jolly roger.
Amazing video!!! I still remember the first time I watched this in the anime vividly even though I was like 10 it's stuck with me, the hype I felt when Luffy punched Bellamy was indescribable
Keep in mind that the Spring Spring Fruit is like Luffy's- a power with the ability to spring and bounce around. But Bellamy's is way more straightforward and simple; lacking any sense of creativity from the user.
One of my fav moments for sure! I enjoyed. the video, pick other cool moments like shanks showing up at marine ford, luffy punching celestial dragon, gear 5, ect and make more cool videos please!
I'm loving this one! I've watched it twice! Honestly I never really thought about how they used this as a bar for the main 3 to show how much they've grown from the characters we know. Honestly it's it views as something very important to the hero's journey Luffy go through from childhood to this point. I really wonder how we bring this moment full circle by the end? Will the OP even be something fully tangible? Time will tell.
We've all heard of people who are smart, but foolish. Luffy is the opposite. He's not dumb, but he certainly isn't too smart-but he has a wisdom that can sometimes be shocking.
This is where you finally loved the show? You were a little far from home at this point until you finally saw the light. Also don’t ever compare that shitty show Naruto to this peak anime. None compare
It's ironic that a man with no dream would serve a DEMON who HAS a dream.
Bellamy's character after Jaya is also such a great character arc!

I LOVE Bellamy as a character because while he has the ability to literally bounce back like Luffy, he lacks the will and dreams to become a great pirate in the One Piece world.

When the world told him to change he looked at it and said, no you change.
When the world told him to change, he said "sogeking, burn that flag"
@@Aledahaland sogeking said “yes captain”
Learned a lot about this character "Bell o' May" that I've never heard of, reminds me of Bellamy

It's been so damn long, I completely forgot any of this happened.

It’s the only way to watch Johnny Star videos honestly

This scene will live within me till I die bro
As a huge One Piece and Marcus Aurelius fan, this is the video for me! Beautiful job with this analysis
That punch from Luffy to Bellamy was my favourite punch in the series until recently in Egghead from a certain character.
Ngl everything you said is the same reason I fell in love with one piece this episode and the one where they visit the platform where Roger was executed hooked me onto the series
It's one thing to dream. But another thing to never let them die!
Was amazing being able to work on this! This was a beautiful story ⭐️
MY BROTHER ZASKAII AMAZING WORK 🔥
You did an amazing job my friend. Thank you for your hard work⭐️

Love the video! Mind if I ask how you got the footage from one piece??
What an amazingly well done video. Please make more!
(also luffy vs Kayakuri would make for a great analysis)
I love your analysis, it would be sick if you made a vid on luffy vs. katakuri, my personal favorite fight in the series. Great work tho bro

my boy in his bag. Good work from you, Zaskaii, and sumollama tying this whole piece together. Was a job well freaking done
This is amazing, truly talented and with beautiful editing
Great video!
Keep it pushing!!! Love the editing and I haven’t really seen many people talk about this fight and scene. Loved it !
Shout out to my editor for this one, he cooked
Excellent editing in this video. Definitely needs more views.
love ur videos and can u do kaneki vs arima
that is my favourite fight in manga in general
Bro this video is so well done. The humor the pacing its amazing. I am very shocked. Hope you make it
Thanks for making this analysis. Bellami is such an interesting character. He probably got corrupted by Do Flamingo and blinded by being under his jolly roger.
Hey you can’t hide the Hyrule Castle theme in a One Piece lore video
We all agree that if any of those guys in the bar try to touch Nami, the straw hats would turn the whole place into dust.
Very well done , as if you made me fall in love with One Piece once more, thought that could never happen but this video did it. Cheers to you.
Yo I just watched some of your videos and they are amazing. Keep it up
Amazing video jaya for sure one my favourite arc in one piece
Good stuff! One of my favorite arcs.
Incredible video, first I've seen from you and it embodies what I love about this fight.

Can you do a follow up to this and cover the relationship/fight between Luffy and Bellamy on Dressrosa?
Bro i love ur vids, great editing style lowkey\

Luffy punching the Celestial Dragon
How come you didn't talk about Luffy & Bellamy's dynamic in Dressrosa?
I feel like luffy didn’t fight back against bellamy because shanks didn’t fight those pirates at the bar
Another good fight is Jotaro vs Steele Dan from Jojo Bizzare Advanture part 3
this better at least get 5 million views
Hey if it do or it don’t, just hope yall enjoy it?
1-10, what do you rank the Jaya Arc?
10 out of 10 now, Johnny. 10 out of 10❤
7, didn't care about Montblanc Cricket but everything outside of that was great. 7 on the One Piece scale, not the overall fiction scale
Yo bro can you slide the song use for the into i need to use it for a video 😭🙏

I have! and it's great, I like it alot too
Shows luffy and zoro have restraint. Everyone else would've ripped this dude a new A$$hole
You lost me at BellaMAY
What the most interesting is how bellamy can hurt luffy if he made with rubber, i think bellamy already has haki back then 😂
You know I’ve always thought Oda was a bit inconsistent with what can and can’t hurt luffy. This is definitely one of those moments
