Thanks for including this masterpiece which gave me massive chills...
Played the hell out of Ragnarok, MU online, RAN online, Cabal, Khan online, Silkroad, Rohan blood feud, RF online, Tantra, Rappelz, and Perfect World. Those we're the good old days, hard grinding, time consuming, but enjoyed every bit of it. Perfect world was the first MMORPG that made me spend a bit of money on it, lol! I got entranced in it's crafting and made me buy mats in the item shop just to make a perfect weapon for my character. 🤣 I still the remember the customization of the face in that game. The game company in my country behind it, started a competition on a look alike with a price money. One of the winners has a character with Rinoa's face in it from FF8.
this was the time that grinding is much more important than your assignment. thanks for making this video! really felt nostalgic and knocked me into reality that I am old and have real life responsibilities but still can enjoy casual games but not to the extent of being on top

Very nice list! Aion, Perfect World, 9 Dragons, Silkroad and Flyff are my definite Top picks! All of them hit me with Nostalgia and even their login screen music is enough to almost make me cry. There was another good MMO that I think should have been in the list, called ArchLord. As for Flyff - it recently got republished officially and it concentrates more on the old-school aspects.
I was a race leader for a year on a private server and met one of my best irl friends till this day in RF Online. That game almost ruined me as a person. I hope they never make a new one like that, it was a dream for pvp players but the "politics" could really pull out the worst of every dark corner of a seemingly decent human being. That game was one of a kind.
I played 6 of theses games idc if you don't want to read this, but here it is my nostalgia thought about some of them: - Cabal was all about being badass. Cosmetics, armors, spells/skills was so cool, sh**t i even remember grinding thoses punching bag forever just to xp a skill and see what the other will be. The music was so good and entertaining when you were doing instances (the group name is Novasonic btw). -Perfect world (2008/2010) You could fly with a pair of wings or a flying sword, holy fkk just flying through a open world mmo was a blast for me at the time. classes diversities with many cities to explore and with the soundtrack i had the most relaxing gameplay i ever experienced in my life. -Gunz, I was too young to play this game and because it required so much skill to play, i was often raging. I remember playing this game with my best friend everyday afterschool trying to get better with him! it was the first time i experienced a real competitive game. Tera, I sold most of my PS2/PS3 games to buy that game only to see that you could play it for free a year later.... . The graphics was insane for a mmorpg at the time and so was the combat system. I remember playing it on my old samsumg laptop running it at 30 fps Lmao. Flyff, i loved the grinding system. i remember poking groups of mammoths to get the aggro so they could follow me all at the same time and stack them just to kill them all at once with a aoe spell (best feeling in the world). Also, i remember the place with thousand of players selling their sh*t, they were everywhere and sometime the place was laggy af because of this. Aion, my parents bought me this game as a gift bc i was doing well at school. i played this game 1 or 2 week after the release, cities were crowded, there was players everywhere, ppl were spamming for a group h24. skills, rune, stigma elements system was revolutionnary for me at the time. environnement was beautiful i was so immersed into this world. Sometime i wish i could go back to my kid state where i could fully immerse myself into thoses worlds and just having fun with my friends without caring about competitivies and P2W content. That was the good old days 🥲
God damn it, I didn't know seeing Aion again would hit me like that. One of the only mmos I was part of from the beginning when it came to the west. Wish it never went F2P/kept being more popular.
Yeah, every game I booted up to test run for this video hit me with a fantastical wave of emotions and memories haha! & Aion went through so many insane changes and overhauls... I remember being so captivated by the original trailer 😭
Man, I still love Silkroad. If something like OSRS (Which I still play, even 16 years later) would be done to Silkroad, I would return. And Flyff... How many hours got shredded by that game.
As a Brazillian for me it's insane that most people didn't play Tibia back in the day... I'm an MMORPG junkie and i played almost every single relevant MMORPG in the world (including every single one mentioned in this video) and one of the most addictive MMORPGs i've ever played IS Tibia (I still play it to this very day) and it always astonishes me how most MMORPG enthusiasts such as myself never played it.
Great video, Talyk! Wathching this, I remembered that besides Silkroad (which was one of my favorite MMos ever made) I remember I sunk in thousands of hours into MU Online and 2Moons (renamed Dekaron) and I had such a great time in those games, they all offered a different dopamine kick...good times. Anyways, great video and hope to see more! Have a great one!
I loved being a Winged Elf in Perfect World and trying to harvest materials from places I wouldn't have otherwise reached, usually getting killed immediately upon catching agro from a random monster.
Silkroad will still be the best MMORPG just the nostalgic part where i was i dont know like 10 years old and played whole day with my brother and my friends and farmed sp for weeks :D and the job system was nice and in this time i though the spells would be awesome too :D
Bro...you got a sub from me. Played all those games from 2005-2012. Was a time like no other, definitely hard to find today as someone in my mid 20's. 600 subscriber.
So all of the games are still playable - I booted them all up again to get the footage. It was really fun, some of the games I spent a couple of weeks playing. But I feel the age of "Ima put 20k hours into this MMO for the next 5 years" has passed, at least for me. However, the most active seemed to be: Old School Runescape - Heroes never die 😂 Silkroad - Hundreds of private servers that are populated for around 1 year. It's like a seasonal nostalgia gold rush. Short lived, but super fun! GunZ - Small selection of private servers, but still workin well. Mostly pros left playing though, so don't advise it unless you've got some old GunZ muscle memory. Tera & Aion - People still boot up these games for the the first time in this here 2021, so they still get active interest. Can't speak for how much longer they will be around though. Commenters said that Metin 2 & Lineage 2 (ofc) are still pretty active, which I imagine is true since they are two big MMO names and absolute classics. If you want my next-gen MMO recommendation to check out, it would be Ashes of Creation. Big goals, great team of MMO players including the CEO, self & community funded - Lets hope it comes to life :D!

OH! 💯I added more honorable mentions way back to the pinned comment with Rappelz in! (although that's not enough credit I know...) My PC couldn't actually run it back when I was young, that's the only reason I didn't play it! Kept having graphics driver crashes but I REALLY wanted to
Nothing will ever beat Silkroad, the only MMO where you could actually play "Online", so many activities such as trading/thieving where it could bring massive pvp, at private servers it can be easily 100vs100. What's more, the Fortress War, such amazing idea, guilds and unions fight for Fortress to take the tax of occuppied city, it was clearly innovative MASS PVP idea. CTF, and Battle Arena where 8 vs 8 players fight as a team to win the event, also Forgotten World and Holy Water Temple (instances). Many uniques, party grinding, and even more events created by ppl who were GM's of private servers, they even created event such as Battle Royale, yes... they managed to create a Battle Royale in a MMO game! Im playing this game since 2005, when there were only 3 Servers opened, and Im playing till this day with a breaks of course. Owners of private server keep on invent more and more activities such as Survival Arena (players are teleported into arena, which looks like a Rome Coloseum), in that arena lots of people fight against each other, sometimes 100+ ppl, are killing each other, the one with most kills wins the event, once again Massive PvP. That isn't all, there are many, many more events and activities to do. You can basically spend whole day and you won't be bored. OUTSTANDING FOREVER! SRO

I don't mention Age of Wushu other than as a competitor to 9Dragons, which is a completely seperate segment to 9:00? What made you bring up Age of Wushu at this moment? What is your point, exactly? That Age of Wushu did player voting before Tera?🤔
@@TalykStudios you said tera introduced the player voting for some other plager concept at 9:00. i was just doubting that statement, saying that age of wushu did it first.. is my punctuation wrong or somethin'?
@@y0urh0mew0rk "Tera introduced something FEW other MMOs have done" - I didn't say "no other MMOs have done". I acknowledged that other MMOs have done it, I even discuss that FlyFF had a player-voting guild system later in the video. I was just stating that Tera did it too and that they introduced this to their game, not that they they invented it, otherwise I would have explicitly said they invented it... But I can see how you misunderstood. With that said, can you give me some evidence that Age of Wushu had a fully fleshed out working political-war system like Tera?
2024 and if you played silkroad online when it first came out. Wow it was amazing! One of the best mmo that "was free2play" at that time. Great memories....
God dammit... I've been here lately thinking of going back to Perfect World, i am second guessing it because of the god awful conjoined Starting Zone for all races *gags* and the insane unbelievably reduced leveling rate after 50-70. But that god damn song...Why is it always the Songs that brings me back to games!? I left WoW when Mists of Pandaria hit, and i thought I WAS DONE! i completely mised Warlords of Draenor even being a thing, and then i found out about Legion, didn't think much off it...then came the song...Elwynn Forest's song randomly popped up in my head, and it just refused to leave! The more i thought of the song, the more i remembered the good old days, eventho it would never become like those days ever again (refering to being New and young back then) And eventually, it broke me and it brought me back...all because of ONE song. And now, the cycle will repeat itself with Perfect World aswell.... ♫ Fly With Me~! In a perfect world~! Go with me~! Just Like a Bird~! ♫
9 dragons and Silkroad were very well crafted old games. I never found any other MMORPG quite like them. Classic Aion huh? What initially got me into it was the Beta, way way back.
Come to aion classic. We have the abyss, dredgions and rifts :)
PWI always and forever in my heart. Miss that game so much 😭❤ Venomancer 🦊 and Tideborn 🧜♀️ my favorite Races!
Cabal 2 was like a meteor. It came fast, it was gone faster.
Silkoad / Aion
still have that orginal aion metal cd box :3
Ah man SO MUCH nostaglia, I can't take it... good old times... I cherish those memories so much
Flyff most nostalgic
Team FlyFF
this login music is magical , takes me back to my childhood
i search for a flyff server that will bring back most of the memories, an old school flyff with so many players. Thanks to GTOP site, i saw "Flyff iblis" on the top list, a free-to-download game. Now, me and my friends are enjoying it ,its very classic, seems like the official one ^^
Damn I remember playing silkroad and watching naruto. Then i would play naruto music in the background as i grinded on silkroad lol
I played Silkroad over 10 years, still have my videos on my channel. This game was the best I´ve every played. Sadly the downfall came with the lvl 120 cap and D12 Gear (pay to win / pay to upgrade your weapon)...additionally they received 2 big hacker attacked which deleted our chars and gear which we grinded over 10 years...
Thanks for including this masterpiece which gave me massive chills...
Almost cried when I heard 4:20 was one of my favs Rip PWI :'(
Played the hell out of Ragnarok, MU online, RAN online, Cabal, Khan online, Silkroad, Rohan blood feud, RF online, Tantra, Rappelz, and Perfect World.
THINGS WERE SO SIMPLE 😭🙏
Silkroad was unbelievable! I played it around 08ish. Got to level 50ish and I thought I was the greatest. Would always party with noobs and help them level up 🤪.
Silkroad is such a grind getting above level 20 felt like an accomplishment haha.
Ong taxi free pt :D Good times haha
I wish I could play somewhere withuot bots and a healthy community...
@@antedor2654 Official servers are pretty much impossible to log on. There are many private servers, check them out and see which suits you. I currently play on Electus which has higher exp and sp rates, very active community / discord channels. I'd also recommend Origin server which has x2 - x3 exp rates and for me it was as close to the original experience as it could get.
@@plam91en i tried getting Electus, logged in as Eu in Chinese starting area, world chat pretty dead and my pc shut down 10 minutes after starting the game... So I had a weird experience with it, not saying its like that at all times tho
@@antedor2654 Origin online ;)
My 1st mmo was Cabal used to play in 2012..until now those theme song still stuck in my head
So many memories. It was the cabal music for me, right in my feels.
Listening to the soundtracks sends me to a happy place every time 😭
Archlord was a gem, there is a private server till date.
Played most of these. Thanks for the music got some goosebombs as well. Nostalgia overload and nice video my man :)
oh my god Silkroad...my first MMORPG, when i heard the log in sound all the memories came back..god i love that game AND then you drop Perfect world...omg i still play pw today...best mmos imo
I use to play Cabal online. That game was so addictave. I kept coming back for more gameplay.
nothing beats the uniqueness of RF Online. its sad you didnt include my favorite game of all time and i'm still playing it today.
Best gameplay, community, graphics, battle scene,,races,,etc...most of all accretia empire😁😁😁
Gotta love the complex class, war, leadership, guild, items, and race systems. For me none of the mentioned in the video beats RF Online's uniqueness
Kudos ! ❤ I like the focus on what they brought to the table! we all grow together! 😊
I played 6 of theses games idc if you don't want to read this, but here it is my nostalgia thought about some of them:
- Cabal was all about being badass.
Dragonica, Rappelz, Dragon Nest, Grand Fantasia
As soon as I hear the Perfect World music, it brings my childhood memories back 😭😭😭
Great video, Talyk!
AH! 2Moons & MU, I did play them for a little while! I will add it to my honorable mentions list. ^^
I loved being a Winged Elf in Perfect World and trying to harvest materials from places I wouldn't have otherwise reached, usually getting killed immediately upon catching agro from a random monster.
Silkroad will still be the best MMORPG just the nostalgic part where i was i dont know like 10 years old and played whole day with my brother and my friends and farmed sp for weeks :D
and the job system was nice and in this time i though the spells would be awesome too :D
love your content, deserve more subs
Bro...you got a sub from me. Played all those games from 2005-2012. Was a time like no other, definitely hard to find today as someone in my mid 20's. 600 subscriber.
SRO and GunZ were me and my cousins' childhood 🥺🖤 Heck a lot of this list is!
good video mate, youd definitely grow if you made more commentary videos like this
Thank you! When my health starts improving hopefully I can spend more time on content creation ^^
Top question. Which one of these games are still playable and worth getting into?
So all of the games are still playable - I booted them all up again to get the footage. It was really fun, some of the games I spent a couple of weeks playing. But I feel the age of "Ima put 20k hours into this MMO for the next 5 years" has passed, at least for me. However, the most active seemed to be:
Old School Runescape - Heroes never die 😂
Silkroad - Hundreds of private servers that are populated for around 1 year.
@@TalykStudios so perfect world pretty much dead then :'(
i miss playing these games, have you ever played godswar online?
What hooked me with Perfect World was the non-instanced huge world and absolutely beautiful, serene soundtrack.
11:34, RuneScape.
Great vids man keep up the good work
i really love this video it made me riminise alot
definitely some honorable mention would be
rappelz , runes of magic , champions online , raiderz
whats the name of the song when the cabal online part start?
Im 36 today, watching this hits hard, such nostalgia, the music.
Old but gold. They have it all... Silkroad online perfect, how many hours and game feels so alive....
I spend time in most of these games, Im fucking crying now, I just turned 30 and i cant find game that will hold me like that..
I feel that too much.. Im 27 and feeling the same way. The truth is we probably never will.. Games were just built diffrent back then :(

Silk road and Perfect world
When you've never heard of the channel before, but they put effort into the sound quality
This video really made me feel some type of way. The music for cabal really had me going back to my childhood
Dunia saya seperti pindah ke perfect world selema 3 tahun, disana saya banyak teman yang berasalah dari sebrang pulau. Saya main perfect world indonesia server api 2011-2013 guild titan, kangen kalian semua.....
As a huge Silkroad fan after i saw Silkroad comments ım too happy rn
AMAZING LIST ❤❤❤ WHEN YOUR LOOKING FOR NO TIPICAL MMORPGS, THANK U DUDE GREAT VIDEO👌👌👌👌👌
My man.. This video is golden!
Silkroad and Cabal was one of my childhood games
I remember a game called Atlantica....it was one where you had a party of 9 and it was turn based. Man, I forgot about that game till this video.
how do i download silkroad?? the site just goes into a blank screen when i sign in
pls help ^^
shame that you didn't mention Rapplez such a goated game
OH! 💯I added more honorable mentions way back to the pinned comment with Rappelz in! (although that's not enough credit I know...)
My PC couldn't actually run it back when I was young, that's the only reason I didn't play it! Kept having graphics driver crashes but I REALLY wanted to
cabal online had some of the best songs imo
SRO
Did I just enter a chatt with all my childhood friends? I played all those games except for Gunz, definitely missed out on that one
I definitely think a lot of us played on the same games and severs and are now just realizing
😂 Wild you've played nearly all of them though! Even 9Dragons!?! I wouldn't be surprised if we've bumped into each other as teenagers hahaha
@@TalykStudios wasn't expecting a response 🙃
Yeah, I really enjoyed 9dragons, and I recognized all the areas you showcased. I'm still really into wuxia, probably thx to that game
9:00 Age of wushu introduced player voting player system though.. didn't it?
That's Tera... Not Age of Wushu?
The system was called the Vanarch system - tera.fandom.com/wiki/Vanarch
@@TalykStudios bruv what are you talking about? try reading my comment again, i don't think i was ambiguous with anything. hint: i meant to write age of wushu & i know that the game at 9:00 is tera.
@@y0urh0mew0rk I've read your comment several times through - It doesn't make sense. I'm talking about Tera in the video.
Great video! Love it!
There was this online game called MO, cant find it.
I have a question
1. Do you know something about Forsaken World? Where is it right now?
Check out the newly released games as well.
Polity online will be nice too
Runescape!!!! That opening music makes me cry and happy at the same time! All the pvp wars etc. oldschool ruinscape should be number 1!
I'm curious, have you heard about Rising Force Online? (RF ONLINE)
Yes absolutely! I will add it to my honorable mentions. I seem to recall my PC couldn't run it at the time
😂
The more i thought of the song, the more i remembered the good old days, eventho it would never become like those days ever again (refering to being New and young back then)
And eventually, it broke me and it brought me back...all because of ONE song.
And now, the cycle will repeat itself with Perfect World aswell....
♫ Fly With Me~! In a perfect world~! Go with me~! Just Like a Bird~! ♫
9 dragons and Silkroad were very well crafted old games. I never found any other MMORPG quite like them. I've been actually searching for something like 9 dragons for a while with the many clans style and how atmospheric and distinct each felt when you visited their bases but the most similar I could find were Age of Wushu and Swordsman online which still do not feel the same. ;-;
I'll never forget the Sacred flower clan atmospheric base and dope moves specially dagger ones. Quite a unique game.
12sky2 is so so so similar to 9dragons
@@tristantanner2870 Checked that one before. It only felt abit similar in the skill style but the aesthetic was so different like no clans, just like 3 or 4 factions if I remember correctly.
No game similar to 9d spend years searching.
Agw of Wulin would be the closest
I hate that you never got to meet the clan masters in 9d 😢
I miss KalOnline and Flyff times.
I’ve never heard of Aion, but I played Aika Online on and off for years, until recently when I heard it got shut down for good. Is aion by the same people? It looks sooo similar!
Ragnarok online my first and most nostalgic mmorpg, also got nostalgia for tera and aion and allods and perfect world, i tried the rest but didn't get to endgame in all
A few people have mentioned Ragnarok! If I had more play time invested in it, I definitely would have put it on this list, but it gets an honorable mention from me, no doubt about it.
Me too.
