Hi. Thank you for sharing your haul. That second book from Amazon Japan , I have that one. It is nice. I have Mouse Guard. One of my favorites. I entered the UA-cam world of the coloring community in the fall of 2019. I had only JB”s books and Crayola, Staedtler pencils. Karen from Zucchini Kitty was coloring in Mouse Guard with Distress Inks and pencil on top. She may still have some of those older videos up. So I had to have that book. And yes I have used my distress inks and also Intense pencils in it. Works good. The next book I purchased was The Ink House by Rory Dobner. It was not intended to be a coloring book but the coloring community grabbed hold of it and this is my number one favorite book. I truly hope to finish at least this one book in my lifetime. Again distress inks and Inktense pencils work great. Not sure if you can still get that one. What you said about style and learning and paper being different is so true. Enjoy your supplies, books and “ You do you.” As Tim Holtz would say. Have fun, enjoy 💖🐞🇨🇦
I purchased The Ink House after seeing some of those older videos from Karen - I absolutely adore her style and her colour choices. :) And I definitely need to remember that advice from Tim Holtz! :)
Hi Connie - I tend to get that same feeling of missing out. So I've bought a ton of books used but I love looking through them. I'm going to try and slow down or my house will be full to the rafters by this time next year! I enjoy your channel and your honesty. Also... I also have the Colouring Heaven edition of Konoko Eguso pages. I snagged it before it went out of print because I don't think those images are in any of her other books. I have only the Japanese versions of her three books. I'm curious if the images match 100% with the American versions. I hope you include that when you compare the paper in the two versions.
I'll definitely try to remember to include that when I do a comparison! :) (If I forget, don't hesitate to remind me in the comments for that video. :))
I have the dutch version of the book from Urban Anna, and it's not watercolor paper. It's thick and smooth, and it peeled when I passed over the same spot a couple of times with watercolors. A bit disappointed about it :(
Ah - interesting to know that it's the same kind of "paper dilemma" in other country's books. It is disappointing when a book is marketed to have "watercolour paper" but, in reality, just has thick "normal" paper. I suppose we can treat it ourselves with some kind of watercolour ground or gesso but it kind of defeats the purpose of buying books that are supposed to have "watercolour paper", doesn't it?

I really enjoyed your video. I love that you love mandalas. Honestly, they're the only things I color I don't color very well and "realistic" things are not for me. I can't color people, animals or natural things, so I stick to madalas. I love that they can be any color; it doesn't matter. LOL. I was able to buy the one mandala book. Oddly enough, I was able to find the limited edition one, but not the other. Cannot wait to get it. The majority of my coloring books are mandalas. I made the mistake of buying all sorts of coloring books before realizing that I can't color the majority of the pictures in the other books. Live and learn. Color the way that makes you happy. I wish I could color the way you and other creators do, I can't seem to get past basic coloring. I use markers to color because they cover the page. I've tried, (many times), to color with color pencils, but I can't get the vibrant colors I love. My husband says I need patience and practice. He's not wrong. LOL. I've subscribed to your channel & cannot wait to see your videos.
Honestly, I think buying new books and supplies is a hobby itself! I love coloring but I love collecting books and supplies just as much! I'm a sucker for the Mythographic books so I have every single one that's been released so far and I have the next several that haven't been released yet already pre-ordered! I don't collect all the different sets of pencils but I do have a problem with buying too many books! I have more books than I could color in a lifetime, yet I still want more!.....wow that sounds so greedy! 😆 But you know what, this is our hobby, our passion, and we should be able to do this for ourselves! I don't buy myself a bunch of clothes or purses or anything else so I feel like I deserve to splurge on this one hobby! I don't get my nails done anymore or do anything else for me so I feel like this is my thing that I do for myself! I'm a homeschool mom and I don't get out much. I walk my dog but other than that I only leave my house once a month for my monthly dr appointment. I stay home due to severe back pain from an injury when I was little and because I have bad anxiety about going in stores and driving. I have an ESA dog but there are places I can't take her. But anyway, my coloring hobby is like my therapy so when I buy books and supplies I think that can be considered investing in my mental health!😁 Whatever the reason, if it makes you happy then I say go for it! ❤️😊

I think Dromreis by Maria trolle was illustrations from a book she wrote called vivvie finds a friend. Also I love staedler fineliners could you use staedler multi ink blender on this. If you could do a vid that would be great, maybe some other pens too
Ah - thanks for the info on Droomreis! I'm not sure if the blending solution would work well for other water-based, dye-based pens/markers. Most other water-based pens/markers/fineliners are dye-based (not pigment-based like Pitt Pens and the Staedtler Pigment Brush pens) and the dye-based inks have a different consistency. A dye colourant, by its very nature, is meant to immediately soak into the paper whereas pigment colourants are meant to remain on top of the paper - that means it's much more difficult to get dye-based inks to "move" once you've got them down on paper. I can try to do a video testing that but I'm pretty sure that pens other than the Pitt Pens and the Staedtler Pigment pens aren't going to blend with no matter what blending solution you use. :) Hope that helps!
Jewellery box (juewelenkistje) colouring book by Hanna Karlzon is not a compilation book. There has only been one compilation book from Hanna - Grains of gold- and it was published after Soulmates, the last book published in that original style. So the compilation book has pictures from Daydreams to (and including) Soulmates. Then came Midnight masquerade, the first in her Tales from …series, latest book so far has been tales from Atlantis. She just published a great Christmas book, a true scandinavian Christmas book, I love it ❤️

Hope that helps!
Thank you that's really helpful. I remember now you mentioning the difference
@@Victoriacolouringquest You're welcome! :)
She just published a great Christmas book, a true scandinavian Christmas book, I love it ❤️
@@susanneevensen9054 Ah - my mistake - thank you so much for the clarification! :) I just received my copy of God jul in the mail today but I haven't had a chance to look at it yet - I'm very excited! :) My mother's family is from Sweden (although I'm NOT a fan of the lutefisk at Christmas :)) - I love the Swedish traditions. :)
Do you have the link for the dome holder the 50 of them
This is the link on Amazon Canada:
www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0C16QQGL7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I think if you search for "50 Pieces Mini Ink Blending Domed Foams and 50pcs Round Stackable Jars Set" on Amazon US (or the country that you're in), you should be able to find something similar (if not the same).
Hope that helps! :)
Ugh i got those same brushes and are very disappointed. They shed like crazy--thought theyd make great blenders for pan pastels--nope! More hair was on the paper than anything else 😅
Oh no! And I was so hoping that they would work out! :( Bummer - I'll continue looking for something else. Thank you for the heads-up!
@@colouringchemist also, I should clarify to say the 3 pack yellow set, because I left my comment in the heat of the moment before I realized there were also other brushes in the haul. 😅😅 anyway, thanks for sharing, I finally subscribed because I've been lurking around your channel for some time.
@@halsartlife7173 Ah - gotcha. :) Thanks for the clarification - and for subscribing! :)
Did I miss the link to the forest lady pdfs?
Ack! I had said that I was going to include it in the description box and then totally forgot - bad, Connie! If you check the description box for the video, it should be there now. :) So sorry about that!
@@colouringchemist no worries. Thank you! 😊
@@JoyOfStayingIn You're welcome! :)
Connie, I think you are putting too much pressure on yourself to color a certain way or to question if your work is worthy of posting. In my humble opinion, you work is fantastic. Thanks for sharing.
Awww... Thank you so much for the kind words! :)
Hello! Would you be so kind and spell type out the name of the two Japanese coloring books also the author?? I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you very much 😊
Typing out the names would be complicated (as they're in Japanese :)) but I can give you the links on Amazon Japan which should allow you to get the ISBN numbers which you can then use to search for the books on other sites.
This is the first book (the one that's longer than it is tall):
www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/4309718523/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
And this is the second book (that's more square):
www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/4529056112/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Hope that helps! :)
@@colouringchemist did you order it from Amazon JP? I can't find them using the ISBN on Amazon for the states.
@@CathysouthwesternColors I did order from Amazon Japan - I don't think you can get those books on Amazon US. :)
@@colouringchemist ah, okay! I followed the link and when I tried to order it I was unable to use my US account. Do you happen to have a separate account for Japan Amazon? Thank you!!
@@CathysouthwesternColors I think you need to "create" a new account on Amazon Japan but use the same login details (user name and password) as you have set up for your Amazon US account. I think that's what I did, if I remember correctly. :)
I'd love to see the Gullivers Travels book! I've never seen that one and remember my Opa reading it to me when I was little.
I've pulled it out and put it on the desk next to me to remind myself to do a flip-through! :)
