PF is in a class by itself. Most of their albums were concept albums, meaning each song blends into the next to tell a larger story. This song is off ‘The Wall’ which tells the story of a boy who lost his dad in WW II, had an overprotective mother, and grew into becoming a rock star who slowly dove deeper into madness, building a metaphorical ‘wall’ around him separating himself from life and reality. Very philosophical stuff. The Dark Side of the Moon is also a concept album, and is also one of the best albums ever created. I believe it holds the record for most weeks on the Billboard charts.

My 2cents - I'd recommend sticking to album versions of the real "classics", the live versions are typically best for people who are already mega-fans of the song rather than folks experiencing it for the first time. There are notable exceptions, of course, few things can compare to seeing Pantera - "Domination", or Nightwish - "Ghost Love Score" live, but for the vast majority of songs I'd say you'll have a better experience listening to the studio track. If you're going to continue to listen to Pink Floyd (and I really hope you do) I would recommend doing Dark Side of the Moon from start to finish. It's one of the greatest albums of all time and needs to be listened to as one complete piece. Thanks Stevie, love the content!
I'll be real with you Stevie, Pink Floyd ain't really the best choice for the uninitiated in rock music, specially live versions of their songs. I'd recommend starting with: Led Zeppelin (Immigrant Song, Stairway to Heaven or Whole Lotta Love) Black Sabbath (War Pigs, Iron Man or Sabbath Bloody Sabbath) AC/DC (Thunderstruck, Back in Black or Shoot to Thrill) The Rolling Stones (Gimme Shelter, Sympathy for the Devil or Paint it Black) The Who (Baba O'Riley, Won't Get Fooled Again or Behind Blue Eyes)
And if you do stairway to heaven you been to know about playing it backwards too and it saying "sweet satan". It's kinda a 2 in. Like everyone said when it comes to rock you gotta stick to the originals
@@midwestmulisha820 You do realize there's something called "opinion" and that's just yours right? I love Pink Floyd, but never in a million years would I say it is better than Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, The Who (at least with Keith Moon), Rush
When it comes to the many different genres of music I'm definitely a hiphop head through and through. But Pink Floyd is etched into my soul in a way that's utterly indescribable to say the least, this song in particular is my escape from the horrid reality that life sometimes throws our way. It's my much needed calm in a hectic reality. I'll put headphones on, close my eyes and just listen. It puts me in a trance of musical delight and devotion. Pink Floyd is hands down one of the best rock bands to ever grace our presence. Their talent is insurmountable.
Dude loved you dipping in. I'm an "older" Brit who grew up with Floyd and Zeppelin (good Zepp recommendations in other comments) Floyd have their own sound. If you want to see them "back in the day" Echoes live at Pompeii where the guys play in an empty Roman Amphitheater with no audience! (yes it's a long track with a slow build but a Dreadnought of an ending) BTW they always seemed to "hide" on stage and let the music speak. Someone recommended "Time" from Dark Side of the Moon (you might want to Google sales figures and time in the charts for that Album.) Anyway DSotM is a Concept Album, so like a book the chapters make more sense played in order. I would also strongly recommend having the lyrics to hand. There's always a story in the poetry! Word of warning, if you get hooked it's a hell of a rabbit hole, so buckle up dorethy kansas is about to go bye bye! 😂
Pink Flyod are one of my favourite bands grew up listening to them, react to Money, Brick in The Wall, Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Wish You Were Here, Darkside of The Moon, Mother jus to name a few all epically good.
That song is DEEP. I guess you'd have to go through some crazy sh!t to really understand..Great reaction though (even though you're almost falling asleep LOL, it made me laugh)
That was such a good reaction. We could tell exactly how you were feeling just based on your facial expressions and your body language, didn’t even need to say anything. Also you’re honest.
pink floyd is one of the columns most music of today stands on. yes, this song is mellow, but you watch that whole concert and you´re on fire for a week :-)
'Time' from Dark Side of the Moon will make you think. It's got bars too! Also, album versions from these guys are much more accessible. Saying that, their performances are second to none.
Pink Floyd is a very deep band... musically, lyrically, live performances (lights, sound & production), etc... 1965 - 2014!! Lots of goodness in all those years; honestly it's impossible to state what is their best stuff - that IMO is up to the listener. * I would recommend understanding the lyrics and or the entire album concept (yes, whole album's are one concept; well not all of them). The easiest way to resolve not knowing the story or meaning behind the song or album is to look up the title on wikipedia and then if you wish the lyrics while listening (wearing headphones); you'll be glad you did. Pink Floyd is The G.O.A.T.!!! I myself suggest: 1) "Comfortably Numb" 2) "Shine on you crazy Diamond" I-V 3) "Us and Them/Any Colour You Like/Brain Damage/Eclipse" (all 4 parts) 4) "High Hopes" 5) "Time/Breathe Reprise" 6) "Dogs" 7) "Pigs (3 different ones)"- - - Anything from the live "Pulse" DVD (1994) is phenomenal!! Here is a song listing (link) >> en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pulse_(1995_film)#DVD_track_listing Fact: "You don't need drugs to enjoy Pink Floyd but you definitely need Pink Floyd to enjoy your drugs!!"
David Gilmore on lead guitar is magical. He touches your soul. Makes that bitch talk to you! He us the only reason I listen to this band. Echoes- live in Pompeii, my man. It'll change your life! Do it, bro! This band is special! Also, You gotta start Led Zeppelin soon. Do live Madison Square Garden. You WILL change... You will!! (Yoda)
@@imjustbarelygettingstarted7352 This live version is one of the rare ones that has so much more impact than the studio version, even though the studio version is a materpiece, the pulse live version is even better. When I saw it, it blew my mind that it could be better, but that extended solo takes it to another level. I can't believe people suggest the studio version over this one. For nearly every other Pink Floyd track, absolutely, but this is the exception.
@@stephenmcmillan2817 yeah but still you have to at least be vaguely familiar with PF.....he’s never heard comfortably numb before, the studio version is just a lot easier to take jn

When you talk about Eminem's pen game, you gotta think about Pink Floyd and their guitar game. Their solos are masterclasses. PF have to be one of the best groups in the world. I don't think its too contentious to say they're in that 'Masters of Music' tier even if they aren't your favourite. So, if you go down the Pink Floyd rabbit hole, I really am hoping it's one you enjoy as you understand what their music is. As you've seen, they can be lyrically quite sparse and it's very moody. These guys understood music and made it their bitch pretty quickly.

FINALLY! Stevie has entered the abyss, the experience of Pink Floyd! You don't listen to Floyd, you experience. Go deep, young man!! Follow the rabbit hole...
Cool video bro 👍 The reason you were falling asleep is because the song is made to lull the listener into a peaceful serenity before the stellar guitar solo reaches into your soul and bring you to a euphoric conclusion....exactly as Pink Floyd intended. Great reaction video, more Pink Floyd would be very much apreciated (Time from the album Dark Side Of The Moon would be a great more upbeat song to listen to).
Stevie Knight: "Pink Floyd isn't really on my radar." Avro Arrow: They are now, eh? 😆 I could tell that you were bored but I knew damn well that it wouldn't last. At 6:43 Stevie be like "Aw man, WTF is this shit?" At 6:56 Stevie be like "OH MAN! WTF IS THIS SHIT?!" I was just sitting there, waiting, wondering how long before Stevie's face changed the way that EVERYBODY'S face changes once that solo begins. After thirteen seconds, it was all over and Steve was hooked past the point of no return. It took all of thirteen seconds for Steve to go from "Aw shit...." to "Oh shit...." once the greatest guitar solo in music history began and THAT is what makes it the greatest guitar solo in history. It literally changes you and your worldview, making you realise that before hearing this, you were incomplete and unknowing because if something like this existed for so long and you didn't know about it, what else could you be missing? Ladies and gentlemen, it has now been proven that it takes all of thirteen seconds to go from "I am NOT a fan of Pink Floyd" to "I will ALWAYS be a fan of Pink Floyd" when you've been exposed to this solo. It doesn't matter who you are, where you're from or even what language you speak, you WILL melt to the sound of David Gilmour''s Stratocaster when you hear him play this. RESISTANCE IS FUTILE!
This song has a pretty deep backstory if you look into it. It's about how a lot of bands from that time used to have "doctors" come back and give them heroin back stage at their shows. A lot of times performers would just pass tf out and miss their own shows or have to cancel because of the drug use. The "comfortably numb" is the addiction and the loss of feeling anything when you're high like that. If you've ever had surgery and had morphine, it's a very similar thing, and some of those guys were on drugs like that for years and years of touring. They got to the point that they couldn't function without the drugs. They didn't want to feel anything at all. The song is really mellow and chill, but it's about drug addiction and how it makes you numb to everything around you.
Not true at all. The comfortably numb state they're referring to is a mental state not particularly associated with drug use. In the story, 'Pink' is catatonic because he has built a metaphorical wall around himself to withdraw from the pain of his negative life experiences. Although the doctor gives him a drug to get him going, the story has relatively little to do with drugs, and everything to do with a tortured psychological journey. Even the genesis of the song is only related to an incident where Roger Waters was given a tranquilizer, not a mind altering drug, because he had stomach cramps. Although they were known as psychedelic, it's myth that they were heavy into, and wrote about, drug culture. Virtually nothing of what they did (outside of with Syd Barrett very early on) has meaning associated with drugs or is drug inspired.
Pink Floyd is an experience and is not for everyone all of their songs are very deep lyrically and very musical. If you continue to check them out they will grow on you. The song "Money" is an upbeat song and a great place to start in your introduction to Pink Floyd
The way to Floyd is the way that we all made it to them, a joint, and the album version, this version is for people who been rockin wit them for 30 years already.
The official audio is the best. I mean Pink Floyd is super OG’s. I used to rock on that good classic shit back in high school. Cuz my pop always listened to it. I can dig most the old joints, they lived rock n roll life fr fr!!
I really enjoy seeing you do music outside your comfort zone and exposing yourself to new music. Much love and respect for that! Now Pink Floyd, while they are one of my favorite rock bands, they are old. They were hot in like the 70's - 80's. When I was young, I thought like you, they were boring, the music was too... mellow for me. The guitar rifts were the only good points. It wasn't till I was older and starting to suffer from bad depression that I got turned on to Pink Floyd. One of the reason why they are such huge icon's in the rock scene is cause they sang about pain, war, tragedy, depression, suicide, addiction, etc... So I would recommend the next time you do a Pink Floyd track, treat it like you would any other, and listen to the words. Rock especially what's now classic rock has a lot of bars to break down. So many double and triple entendres. Think of it like listening to good old southern blues. That painful blues that the guitar was fire but if you listened to the words you could hear the pain that the vocalist was feeling and sharing with you. Appreciate you Stevie. Keep doing you! Stay safe!!
I love NF, but I grew up in the 70's and really miss the live band backing the rappers today! We had some of the best guitarists, drummers & keyboard players back then! Pink Floyd is a prog rock group that were big time!
I like you Steve and appreciate you delving into other genres but it would be remiss of me not to say that what you did at the end by pausing that guitar solo when it was clearly in the final stages was reminiscent of the time many moons ago when my Girl's Mum interrupted us when I was about to " you know what".......lol That solo was building and building and then you chose THAT moment to say you were going to comment at the end, which was ironical.....:) I'm glad you have over 200K subscribers but I BEG YOU don't break up a Dave Gilmour guitar solo :)
Finally an honest review! Huge Floyd fan here but please check out Steve Vai - Tender Surrender or For The Love Of God or Building The Church (live versions), you won't be disappointed. All the best from the far north of Aotearoa (New Zealand).
Pink Floyd is very diverse musically and very unique as other reactors have come to realize. Their big radio hit was Another Brick in the Wall (part 2). Very different vibe from this song.
This song is a state of mind, seriously like feeling doped and calm without actually having to take anything & usually has many life memories attached to it. The vocals when they are much older are different than the original. The original version is the classic. It was originally recorded in '79 I think. They're in their friggin 70s now in this video.
They were SO ahead of their time.... way back in the 70s they placed dozens of speakers on the roof at a show they did.... they synced them up to make it sound like something was running o the roof... some of the sounds that they played with and made sound amazing blows me away!!

Pink Floyd hits you in a different spot man
no u
Bro, I was worried about you until about the 7:00 minute mark when your whole disposition changed. But you were just being real, which is what I dig about you! You ain't plastic like some UA-camrs out there. As always, Fake Friends = Real Enemies! Keep doing yo' thang!
ths song is part of a concept double album, a huge story, there´s stuff in there that is mellow, and there´s stuff in there that makes you crawl up "THE WALL" (the album´s title)
Freestyle at the Cypher with Mos Def, Black Thought and Eminem
I’m so used to you pausing and talking so much breaking down bars, Stevie, it was a trip to see you so quiet during the video. 😂 Love all your your reactions S!
If you're going to continue to listen to Pink Floyd (and I really hope you do) I would recommend doing Dark Side of the Moon from start to finish. It's one of the greatest albums of all time and needs to be listened to as one complete piece. Thanks Stevie, love the content!
Pink Floyd are massive.
1k away from 200k! Let's go Stevie
I'll be real with you Stevie, Pink Floyd ain't really the best choice for the uninitiated in rock music, specially live versions of their songs. I'd recommend starting with:
Led Zeppelin (Immigrant Song, Stairway to Heaven or Whole Lotta Love)
Black Sabbath (War Pigs, Iron Man or Sabbath Bloody Sabbath)
AC/DC (Thunderstruck, Back in Black or Shoot to Thrill)
The Rolling Stones (Gimme Shelter, Sympathy for the Devil or Paint it Black)
The Who (Baba O'Riley, Won't Get Fooled Again or Behind Blue Eyes)
I agree...if you're gonna start with Pink Floyd, don't do live..and don't do this song if you want to be hyped up lol
And if you do stairway to heaven you been to know about playing it backwards too and it saying "sweet satan". It's kinda a 2 in. Like everyone said when it comes to rock you gotta stick to the originals
Yeah
But this Pink Floyd is better than every other band you named
@@midwestmulisha820 You do realize there's something called "opinion" and that's just yours right? I love Pink Floyd, but never in a million years would I say it is better than Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, The Who (at least with Keith Moon), Rush
I love Pink Floyd. “Wish You Were Here”
Or Dirty Woman
I love that song
herrzimm *young lust
You gonna put'em to sleep again.😉
GT Lambeth yeah that’s kinda true lol I just love that song. Guitar intro is 🔥
this is music to listen to laid back, in a cold dark room, your mind just flies... it's a mood
Yes..yess...slowly making our way towards tool reactions..
94Temimi reactors discovering tool is the best thing ever
Pink Floyd doesn't need validation . Glad you hear it!
Pink Floyd takes you a journey with their music. It's an experience for sure.
Pink Floyd is all by them Selves. Look up the stats for Dark Side of the Moon Album...
The song Marooned on the Division Bell does the same thing for me
Dude loved you dipping in.
I'm an "older" Brit who grew up with Floyd and Zeppelin (good Zepp recommendations in other comments)
Floyd have their own sound. If you want to see them "back in the day" Echoes live at Pompeii where the guys play in an empty Roman Amphitheater with no audience! (yes it's a long track with a slow build but a Dreadnought of an ending)
BTW they always seemed to "hide" on stage and let the music speak.
Someone recommended "Time" from Dark Side of the Moon (you might want to Google sales figures and time in the charts for that Album.)
Anyway DSotM is a Concept Album, so like a book the chapters make more sense played in order. I would also strongly recommend having the lyrics to hand. There's always a story in the poetry!
Word of warning, if you get hooked it's a hell of a rabbit hole, so buckle up dorethy kansas is about to go bye bye! 😂
That .... is REAL music. Thank God for it
Pink Flyod are one of my favourite bands grew up listening to them, react to Money, Brick in The Wall, Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Wish You Were Here, Darkside of The Moon, Mother jus to name a few all epically good.
Stevie Knight 2020. You’re popping off, man.
Great to see you doing pink floyd, you have many great songs awaiting to be listened too!
'Time' from Dark Side of the Moon will make you think.
It's got bars too!
Also, album versions from these guys are much more accessible.
Saying that, their performances are second to none.
Love how your reactions go from falling asleep to almost playing air guitar!
Keep going with Pink Floyd, their music is so varied and the face melting guitar work continues
Here is a song listing (link) >> en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pulse_(1995_film)#DVD_track_listing
Fact: "You don't need drugs to enjoy Pink Floyd but you definitely need Pink Floyd to enjoy your drugs!!"
Uhhh this is gold right here
saludos de México,hermano
Love that you're venturing out into other areas of music, would love to hear your take on AC/DC's 'You Shook Me All Night Long'.
Brooo time for some ERB reactions!!
much love from the netherlands
200k creepin up Stevie. Congrats homie
This song has the greatest solo ever laid on tape and this is the greatest version of it, in my humble opinion of course.
Thats what Pink Floyd does. That music relaxes the shit outta me too.Plus it helps to be high when listening to Pink Floyd
You will!! (Yoda)
It's actually spelled GILMOUR.
Probably should have done the studio version
Yea studio would have had a better first impression.
Wholeheartedly agree, Stephen. One of the rare live versions that blows the studio version out of the water
@@stephenmcmillan2817 yeah but still you have to at least be vaguely familiar with PF.....he’s never heard comfortably numb before, the studio version is just a lot easier to take jn
One of my favorite songs. I enjoy this version because of the full guitar solo and the overall feel of the song. Good pick and I enjoyed the video
Love the rock reactions! Keep them up!
Another more satisfying recommendation from Pink Floyd - “Time” from Dark Side of the Moon
Def need to listen to album versions lol , not saying they’re not amazing live, but you don’t rly “get it” this way
They are a concept band, it’ all means something
When you talk about Eminem's pen game, you gotta think about Pink Floyd and their guitar game. Their solos are masterclasses.
PF have to be one of the best groups in the world. I don't think its too contentious to say they're in that 'Masters of Music' tier even if they aren't your favourite. So, if you go down the Pink Floyd rabbit hole, I really am hoping it's one you enjoy as you understand what their music is. As you've seen, they can be lyrically quite sparse and it's very moody. These guys understood music and made it their bitch pretty quickly.
Welcome to the machine, one slip, on the turning away, sorrow, another brick in the wall, on the turning away, Learning to fly, Hey You, sheep, Money, Time, us and them, high hopes to name but of a small collection of my favourite pink floyd tracks.
Been here since 12k subs, love hip hop, but pink floyd is epic.
Highly reccomend though that you listen to the Albums in their entirety together, the albums usually convey a story about things relevant to the time that they were released.
Brooooo finally !!!! Yesss Im so happy ive been requesting Dogs for a long time but finally 🔥🔥🔥 you finna hop on this train you’ll never forget STEVIE !!! Whoooo amd don’t even talk about the views you’ll get 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 suppoppperrrrrrrr hyyyypppeeedddddd
Live isn't the album version. But if you are wanting to dabble with other music, try Tool, Hooker with a Penis, or something like Dire Straits, Sultan's of Swing.
They are great to listen to when you're tripping 🤣🤣🤣🤣
amen to that
For sure
💯💯💯
You’ll go places then😂

Whoa. This version is nowhere near as good as David Gilmour live in Pompeii 2016. That one has so much more energy.
I'm glad you held on for the solo. Glad you enjoyed the end. David Gilmour was still playing his ass off twenty years after this show.
The child is grown the dream is gone... this song makes me sad but I love it!
You're almost at 200k!!!
U a positive dude. I love them but could tell u wasn’t feeling it but u always find a way to say something positive. Good shit!
when it's taken as a whole work it tells a story and that is just part of it. Each of their albums Dark side of the moon, The wall, Animals, they all tell a story. and David Gilmour. Keep up the good work, nice to see you are side stepping into other genres.
Stevie here is some reactions for you on some rock groups such as Queen, AC/DC, Metallica, Guns & Roses. Some reactions as far that could give you goosebumps, green day concert, fans sing Bohemian Rhapsody. Something to look into.
Dark Side Of The Moon by Pink Floyd was in the USA Charts for 741 successive weeks or over 14 years straight. That is how popular they were !
Dope that you're reaction/listening to Pink Floyd, one of thee greatest bands.
FINALLY! Stevie has entered the abyss, the experience of Pink Floyd! You don't listen to Floyd, you experience. Go deep, young man!! Follow the rabbit hole...
Cool video bro 👍
The reason you were falling asleep is because the song is made to lull the listener into a peaceful serenity before the stellar guitar solo reaches into your soul and bring you to a euphoric conclusion....exactly as Pink Floyd intended.
Great reaction video, more Pink Floyd would be very much apreciated (Time from the album Dark Side Of The Moon would be a great more upbeat song to listen to).
Appreciate the honest opinion! I never understood why this song is so popular at first either until I listened to the entire album
I saw them at the rosebowl in 94. 300+ shows, this was a surprise smash
Nice
I got to see then in Detroit in 94.
Stevie Knight: "Pink Floyd isn't really on my radar."
Avro Arrow: They are now, eh? 😆
I could tell that you were bored but I knew damn well that it wouldn't last.
At 6:43 Stevie be like "Aw man, WTF is this shit?"
At 6:56 Stevie be like "OH MAN! WTF IS THIS SHIT?!"
I was just sitting there, waiting, wondering how long before Stevie's face changed the way that EVERYBODY'S face changes once that solo begins.
@@hihoktf yeah haha the cool thing would be that it’s a heroin song but yeah it’s not about drugs like that
Appreciate you checking this out! Hope your day is good Stevie! Much love 💕
Make sure to listen to
- Shine on you bright diamond
- Time
- Wish you were here
-The Great Gig in the sky (preferably after listening to time)
Studio version, always!
Stay safe!!
Stevies stank face is also his 50 cent impression simultaneously
The original of this song is better than this live version imo.
Agreed, the live version normally sucks unless you're actually live.
x3
@@JayPickles999 if you think this sucks you have no soul js
@@zombiewolf3244 Cool, I never said i didn't like the song. I just like it less live then I do the original version. It's OK to like different things.
For sure!!!!
I love NF, but I grew up in the 70's and really miss the live band backing the rappers today! We had some of the best guitarists, drummers & keyboard players back then! Pink Floyd is a prog rock group that were big time!
I like you Steve and appreciate you delving into other genres but it would be remiss of me not to say that what you did at the end by pausing that guitar solo when it was clearly in the final stages was reminiscent of the time many moons ago when my Girl's Mum interrupted us when I was about to " you know what".......lol
That solo was building and building and then you chose THAT moment to say you were going to comment at the end, which was ironical.....:)
I'm glad you have over 200K subscribers but I BEG YOU don't break up a Dave Gilmour guitar solo :)
Lol about to fall asleep then the guitar solo comes and his mood straight changes such a great guitar solo easily one of the best ever
My fav Pink Floyd song.
From a hard core hip hop head.
Shine on you crazy diamond is just the sexiest song on the planet Gilmore is one of the best guitarist to ever pick up the axe
This song is a state of mind, seriously like feeling doped and calm without actually having to take anything & usually has many life memories attached to it. The vocals when they are much older are different than the original. The original version is the classic. It was originally recorded in '79 I think. They're in their friggin 70s now in this video.
There are a good amount of HipHop songs which sample Pink Floyd’s music.
They were SO ahead of their time.... way back in the 70s they placed dozens of speakers on the roof at a show they did.... they synced them up to make it sound like something was running o the roof... some of the sounds that they played with and made sound amazing blows me away!!
Yawning during Pink Floyd live.. thats a first. ;) I stayed with you mate.. good to see get into it. Peace.
RATM - Testify, live at Finsbury Park. ;)
Just watched some of your videos (Super awesome by the way 🙌). Try rewatching these Pink Floyd ones with the lyrics man. You won’t regret it. Their songs are dense and their lyrics 👊
