I love how down to earth and relatable you always come across as. I don't think I'd have it in me to ever get a physique like yours, but you still make me want to try. Appreciate you and Brandon.

"I don't think I'd have it in me to ever get a physique like yours" if you're the one telling that to yourself, you're already your biggest enemy. You should be the person you can most count on.

@@oranpyre3932 You're right. I should be. Doesn't change the fact that I'm not. Wish I could believe in myself more but having crappy self esteem is what it is.

"It is amazing what you can accomplish when you put your mind to something." Truer words could not be said. Structuring the day is one of the most important things to be able to take advantage of my time. This is the year I will do so and no longer be putting things off so I can do my passions of music and fiction writing that you and I share.

Great advice here. Mobility/stretching is a great addition to any routine. I agree with your ideology of pushing the comfortable zone slowly and consistently and no devices when winding down. Also, I personally like to lie in bed after waking up for about 5-10 minutes, lights off, no electronics and just think, plan and be grateful.

completely true! Being a retired IT Engineer I discover philosophy through a well-known french philosopher. Train my brain and my body (I was a karate instructor), reading books, walking on the beach because my wife and I bought an apartment in Portugal, lunch with family and friends are my main occupations. Good and very humble videos! Congratulations !

I can't believe the timing of this!! Just... wow. I have been trying to start writing on a book for ages, but I keep scewing up my nightly routines. I always tell myself I don't have the time or the energy, but just the last three nights I've spent at several hours on gaming and gone to bad waaay past bed time, when all I really wanted to do was write my book and get some sleep. I turn 41 today and when I woke up, it felt like a turning point. Like: Okay, this is it. Time to make a change. And then this video comes like a sign from the heavens. Just mindblowing. So thank you soo much! I felt everything in that video. From the mindless scrolling on the toilet, to spacing out with the wife and kids. You are now my official spirit animal for getting my shit together. Thank you

I started learning guitar 14 years ago on my shitty acoustic guitar with Seek and Destroy. I STILL remember how to play it all these years later. Good for you for learning the guitar, the beginning (the first 6 months) are by far the biggest hurdle in my opinion. Hearing the Metallica riffs in the background took be back to when I was learning.

Back in August I set out to lose 100lbs. I'm currently down 42 and one thing I noticed is the fewer calories I had towards bed, the easier it was to lose weight each day/week. So I started loading my breakfast up, then lunch and having smaller dinners.
That's contrary to the societal norm but I wake up feeling fresher, more energized and my goals are met quicker and easier.
That light dinner is a huge tip.

If you read this on guitar: Learn what CAGED method is and learn it in one key. Then Learn the Pentatonic Scale (5 notes), then add the Diatonic which is just two more notes. If you do that in one key it's the same for all other keys, just different locations (same shapes). Anyways, hope that made sense. If you can get that down you'll understand how the fret board works.

I've tried every routine that makes sense like this one. What I've learned is that you need to be Healthy! If you drink tons of coffee, eat like shit, don't work out, are always stressed, and/or you just don't feel right on a daily basis then your sleep will be shit not matter how well you implement any kind of fancy sleep routine like this one.
The problem is that we spend too much time trying to treat the symptom (poor sleep) with sleep routines, fancy pillows, and other band-aids instead of dealing with the underlying reasons that cause poor sleep. Every time I get my diet right and exercise regularly, my sleep improves drastically. But the content must flow to keep the $$ coming in.

I'd like to make better use of my time after work, which isn't spent looking at a screen, which I do 9-5 for my job anyway. Going to set a goal of doing up the basement this winter. My dad always said SIBKIS (which i hated, and still do)
See it big, keep it small.
Another friend of mine said the same thing by telling me to focus on doing one step at a time.
After a year of looking at the mountain of unfinished projects in his garage and not starting, he eventually said 'screw that', stopped looking at the big picture, and did one step.
Eventually the one steps add up and you can look BACK at a motivating thing that becomes momentum, but always focus on the one step at a time.
It's helped a lot with our new house and I beat myself up less lol
