Planxty and The Bothy Band lifted Traditional Irish, Scottish and English folk music to a new level that we mostly take for granted today. Great to hear them again.
I lived in Dublin all through the 70’s. I’ll never forget the first time I saw Planxty. They did Raggle Taggle Gypsy/ Tur dom da lambh ( sic), the entire room jumped to our feet at the segue. It was iconic.
The best band of all time. I saw them live in Manchester in 1979, and in Glasgow January 2024. I have lived and breathed their music for over 45 years. Such a huge influence on my own playing. Thank you Bothy Band! X
This is so fantastic to see these wonderful musicians playing together again. It’s only bittersweet for me because Mícheál Ó Domhnaill has left us and is not here for this. But I know he’s smiling down on all of this from up above… ❤
WOW!!! Still as brilliant as ever and able make the energy of the tune go into orbit and round the sun a couple of times!!! Was a wonderful surprise while I was browsing some Irish Trad Music on U Tube, got bored and tapped in some old Bothy Band tracks to cheer me up, and then.. what joy !! a recent special performance just popped up and it was literally a life transforming experience!! Up to date Bothy Band playing like a hurricane, just like the old days!! I dusted off my whistle and joined in!! (Used to play long ago!) Thank you Bothy Band, so great to see you again and I am musically recharged and inspired to play again!! Keep playing....you're treasured!! And simply the Best!!
I lived in Dublin for most of the 70’s, while studying at UCD. We went to concerts most weekends. If there wasn’t one, we’d all go down to O’Donoghues and catch the session, a couple of dozen musicians playing great music. It was a magical time for Irish music.
This is awe inspiring. To see the remaining living members all gathered together, musical legends. I've been lucky enough to catch both Paddy and Kevin Burke performing in Michigan over the last few years. Thank you so much for sharing this.
Thank you Gavin for this. I've been trying to learn this one for last couple days by ear but found most vids too fast. You're clear and nice playing has helped me learn it. Cheers.
Thank God and TG4 that we are getting to hear these legends again this side of the Pearly Gates. (As always, deep respect to Micheal and Tommy on the other side. And Sean Og Graham does the best possible job of filling Micheal's role here.)
Hello from Ireland. This is great. I was looking for O'Neill's to find out where it is played, and this whole set is awesome. Presume it was during lockdown. Keep on truckin!
Is the new documentary about the Bothy Band available to watch online? If so, can you please add the link to the video description above so the group's fans will know how/where to watch it?

It was so good to be there in Belfast!
So True! The Bothy Band and Planxty are my favorites Irish bands ever!

OMG what Thank you for sharing a reunion of one of the most influentual and talented group of musicians.

Yes he would be, God bless him and he'd be so delighted the band are still together and raising the roof!!!
This music changed my life. ❤️❤️❤️
After all these years, I saw them first in 1977, they still create some of the most exciting music I've ever heard!
My children are growing up with Bothy Band's music. This is world heritage level. Much love from Ukraine
It's so nice to see everyone together again. The only thing missing is Mícheál Ó Domhnaill, his magnificent voice and brilliant guitar playing... 💔😢😞
THANK YOU - BOTHY + PLANXTY FOR YEARS OF GREAT MUSIC - APPRECIATED AS IF IT WERE NEW AGAIN EACH TIME!
It is so lovely to see them playing together again!
The best Irish band of any genre of music in my lifetime. Looking forward to seeing them in NCH in August for the first time since 1976 or 77.
After all these years, they still have it. I'm willing to wager that they didn't even have to rehearse for it.

Most of my musical idols playing together once again - that was a hell of a hooley - Aris le do thoil!!! 👏👏👏
What a delight to come across this! I've listened to their music on vinyl, CD, and streaming, and now here they are recorded live.

Still so young ! Great to see those legends, thanks so much !
Hope they come out with at least one live album. This was one my father's most beloved bands growing up!
They are like an Irish Buena Vista Social Club! Legends. Pure talent. Inspirational.
Except that each member of the bothy band went on to enjoy a lifetime of national and international success.
Iconic sound. Thanks for posting
The musicians may age. But the music is as fresh as the day it was written 👍🏻

Still sounding great!
Now I believe in MAGIC!
Grew up on music like this 😊
Lost nothing with the passing years , drives along with gusto and inbred finesse, they should make another album to continue the magic.
Fantastic. Who is playing guitar in Mícheál's place?
They were enjoying it, for sure.
Lunny ❤
😊❤
