  • Joe Conason joins to discuss his new book "The Longest Con." In it, he lays out the rich and ugly history of right wing grifters. It's been happening for a long time. Joe goes back to the 1950s with the McCarthy era and takes us all the way through to one of the biggest grifters we've ever seen: Donald Trump. We discuss religious broadcasters and how some of them swindle their viewers regularly. Many of whom have abandoned their values all in the name of making a quick buck. And with Donald Trump on the ballot again this year, Conason explains how his second term will include a windfall of cash for the disgraced former President and his cronies.

    America, you’ve got this! Kamala is the better person by a million miles. I always liked what MLK said about content of character. Kamala has it - Trump DOES NOT. From “Psychology Today” 2016. “Let's take a minute and reflect on what Martin Luther King meant when he talked about the content of character. This refers to the core ethical values of honesty and integrity, respecting others, taking responsibility for one's actions, being fair and just, and being someone who promotes love and compassion in others.” 🇳🇿🇦🇺💙🇺🇸

    I am totally blind and I tried to share the link to the video on my Facebook page. My screen reading settings would not read it. I don’t know if it’s there. I tried hitting the share button again. Is Facebook deliberately burying political content now? I should think not. I’m going to do whatever I can to try to spread the word but, Hell if I know if it will go anywhere. The only way I could find a trace of it was to go to the menu and then look at the history of things that I’ve posted. It’s there, but is anybody else seeing it? Maybe because I’m in Tennessee the Russians are interfering. And, yeah, I have to agree, why isn’t al Franken podcast as popular as Joe Rogan’s? I also have to ask why Dr. Wilson‘s debunk the funk podcasts regarding RFK are not as popular. If that man has anything to do with healthcare in this country, we’re all dead.

      I don’t understand the emoluments situation.
      But the Arlington thing is a civil situation. I guess someone could sue him civilly, but it isn’t a criminal conviction situation with an enforcement mechanism.
      We used to be able to have laws without enforcement mechanisms because people actually just maintained the norm of following them.
      That is the frustrating and eye opening thing about trump.
      That so much of our government was norms, not laws. Norms that people respected because they were usually respectable and the public shame was enough to prevent anyone from breaking them.
      Trump broke all of that. There is no more shame. Mark Robinson is the quintessential example of what Trump unleashed in our country.

    • @wanderlustworldschooling543
      @wanderlustworldschooling543 Місяць тому

      Maybe I missed it as I was listening. But what does the information you commented on have to do with what was mentioned?
      I don’t think anyone has denied that some states have no limits on abortions. But that isn’t what Trump keeps saying. He keeps saying that ‘the left’ wants it to be legal to give birth to a full term baby and THEN decide you want to kill it. That isn’t abortion. That’s murder. And that isn’t legal anywhere, nor is it advocated for by anyone.
      Or did I miss something else that you are referring to?
