    This is exactly why I never was excited about turning 18. Everyone believes turning 18 is a big deal. No expects a kid to be a school shooter or a harm towards others for no other reason besides the kid being under 18. If you are 17, people don’t see you capable of harming others. If you are 18 or above then they consider the possibility that this person can cause harm. I don’t give children the benefiting of any doubt just because they are under 18 or elementary school children. There is a strong possibility that someone can be a harm towards others. That is why people often fail to detect school shooters or other type of kids who can cause harm: They don’t think a kid or a kid under 18 is capable of doing so; so they would turn a blind eye.

    The one where the boy is clearly trying to kill his brother and the parents don't care is the most chilling.

    • @buecherdrache1
      @buecherdrache1 Рік тому +23

      Did you see the episode?
      Cause the kid wasn't killing his brother, his brother, who was unconscious at this time, just realised by instinct that he was there. As he connected him with the broken arm and the additional instinctual fear of psychopaths he reacted accordingly. That doesn't mean he actively wanted to kill him. And as parents they never learnt or were even just warned if this kind of disorder. They only knew, that the child might most likely be completely taken away from them, so they did what they could to stop him from harming others. In the hospital scenes they never leave him alone, one of them always keeps an eye on him to prevent him from doing something. So the parents were fully aware of the situation, they just didn't know how to deal with it. And that is a very common issue, because nobody ever prepares parents for this

      @@thesunrisechick6878 To be fair, as much as they are putting people in danger, including their own family, you have to understand that at the end of the day these people (in real life) are the parents of those kids. That kind of thing makes you think irrationally. Especially considering how rare real psychopathic disorders are and how misunderstood they are.
      I do 100% agree though, psychopaths of any age are almost always dangerous and something needs to be done, but at the same time you can't expect the parents of a psychopath to think clearly about essentially giving your child away to a medical facility where they will have no family and be treated as essentially a prisoner. It doesn't matter to the parents that the kid can't feel emotion as they won't fully understand what it really means to feel no emotions as it isn't a common occurrence. Yes psychopathic kids will almost always be perfectly fine regardless of where or how they're living, as long as they get what they need (and by need, I mean physical needs such as food and water), but most people wouldn't be able to understand that.

      @@rightleft148 But she's psychopathic. She wouldn't care what you do, she'll still do what she wants. That's how psychopaths work, and the only way to really go against them is by going with them and play into their game. In a scenario like that, she would eventually learn that sorry means good thing (it might take days, it might take years, depends on the person). And when she begins to learn that apologising is a good thing, then she can start to learn that it has to be sincere and not just for the sake of doing it. You essentially have to teach these people how to human from the ground up, starting with absolute basics. Walk before you can run kind of thing.
      When you teach them something, they'll take advantage of it, so you have to teach them the basic thing then start working them out of taking advantage. Yes it's a dangerous thing to play into psychopaths, but if you don't they will never learn how to at least fake emotion, so they'll never care. This sounds bad, but you kind of have to treat teaching psychopaths as if you're training a puppy.

    The thing with psychopaths is that you have to be (or should, anyhow) a little understanding, given the science. I didn't say totally. I said a little. So calm the frack down anyone who's smashing furiously on their keyboard in reply. Yes, they're very dangerous people, and yes, they certainly need help. But the difference between a psychopath and many other personality flaws is that psychopathy is the result of a brain dysfunction (if you will). They physically lack the ability for empathy and all the other emotions we generally associate with acceptable human behavior because their brains are wired incorrectly. It's not something as simple as a few sessions in therapy fixing the problem. You can't "make them see reality", so to speak, because to them, this IS their reality. You can teach them how to show empathy, remorse, etc., but since they cannot process those emotions, I'm sure they're just more confused than anything else, which can lead to irritation and outbursts. The brain is fascinating, but it also makes situations like this incredibly frustrating because not everything is black and white. A lot of times, it's gray and unknown.

    • @lukesanchez8533
      @lukesanchez8533 Рік тому +3

    • @ForsythJC
      @ForsythJC Рік тому

      @@lukesanchez8533, their brains ARE wired incorrectly, as science clearly points out. Look up and examine MRIs done between a normal person and a psychopath. This is not "an emotional viewpoint": it's fact. I'm sorry if that somehow upsets you enough to leave that reply.

    • @Beauxpattison
      @Beauxpattison Рік тому

      This is a black and white situation though. There is a reason psychopaths are rare. Yes their brains are wired differently, but so are people who have Autism. I should know, I have Asperger’s. However, a psychopath has this thing where they have no conscious, no emotion, no empathy, and only care about their needs. They are dangerous. The reason they are so rare is because society has dealt with them up to this point. They should feel the need to hide. If you let a cancer spread it is eventually going to kill you. Granted the science is fascinating, but it does not mean that these people should be given sympathy. They have none, and would not even be able to tell if they were receiving it. In fact they will only use it to get what they want.

The bigger problem that can happen due to physical punishments is that they can learn more violence.
