    The Page influence is heavy on young Michael but boy did he outgrow it and become just an absolute monster player whose style is all his own.

    I discovered this album in an import bin in 1975. I was 12. Used to spend most of my grass cutting money on LP’s. I was rolling the dice on this album, because I had never heard of the Scorpions, but my buddy in school said they rocked, so….Still have it, in great condition.

      🤔 Which album? Is this from "Lonesome
      Crow" by chance? I'm not too familiar with
      early Scorps (pre-"Lovedrive" or that range).

    • @fleatactical7390
      @fleatactical7390 Рік тому +8

      @@markchristopher420 Yep, it's the opening track. You should check out their earlier stuff. It's... different. It's definitely dated material that belongs to that era... borderline psychedelic. Lovedrive, on the other hand, is basically the start of the Scorpions as they would come to be known later on in terms of their sound and lyric content. And that album sounds less dated than the others before it. Part of that was due to them hiring Jabs and his sound.
      But there are definitely some cool songs on the first 4 releases, particularly on In Trance.

      @@fleatactical7390 💪😎👍 Thanks so
      much for a great reply, man! Thorough &
      insightful... appreciate it greatly. Jabs is
      one of my favorites of the 80s and beyond
      + I've seen & heard Roth's solo material as
      well as MSG, of course! One of the best of
      Scorps in my opinion is "Humanity," just an
      underrated crusher from around 15 yrs ago.

    Super cool to hear early scorpions, THeir music evolved drastically from this cool psychedelic art rock group to 70's hard rock, to become one of the top stadium metal bands of the 80's. If it wasn't for those trademark Klaus high notes I wouldn't believe that is really Klaus on vocals. He is unrecognizable with the beard. Also strange to see Micheal a Les Paul instead of his trademark flying V.

    • @logansfury
      @logansfury Рік тому +1

      The Les Paul cutaway guitar looked really out of place on Michael to me to. I wonder if his introduction to the Flying V was from his fellow guitarist here? Kind of cool to imagine Michael asking to check out the axe, it being his first time handling a Flying V, and just falling in love with it, setting the stage for history!

    I love Scorpions great songs in the 80"s but I love the Scorps best with Schenker. This was art. Pure artistry and Michael being so young at the time proves the genius he was then and is today.

    I was 16 when The Scorpions first breakthrough hit in Canada "The Zoo" became popular in 1980. I would of been 8 when this much more obscure tune with Michael Schenker was released only in Germany I would assume.

      In my opinion, blackout is much stronger than AM. LAFS has a few gems too. Of course Lovedrive is their pinnicle and each of the prior albums before LD rock.

    When I first heard the Scorps back in the '70s, Klaus' German-accented English was part of the band's charm. I often wondered ... how can they write such great lyrics when they speak English that way?

      @@Rekeza : Yes it is a shame. But I'm pretty sure he left on his own. Rudy ain't the kind of guy to kick someone out unless they were to really do something completely unforgiving. Like Francis did. He was stealing money from the band behind their backs.

    I've never seen this before. Even in 1972, Michael Schenker playing with that really distinctive clean sound, no wonder UFO snapped him up. I didn't really get into Scorpions until the 80s, I did try to, I got Tokyo Tapes but it didn't push my buttons at the time, my ears were tuned to the sheer brilliance of SITN and nothing else came close, probably never will now.

    To be fair. This album was produced,recorded and mixed in less than 2 weeks by a very young band. Michael Schenker was 16. Melodic and spacey. Schenker was just fixin to get on it but they cut it short. Its a 5 minute song. Obviously you haven't heard the album.
