The Scorps seemed to do just fine after Lonesome Crow. Matthias Jabs is one of the finest melodic metal guitarists to come out of the genre. Michael seems angry that his leaving the Scorps didn't destroy them? Almost every interview in the last 10 years has been 70% blah blah about Rudolph and Scorps. Michael's created so much unique legacy, his obsession with the Scorps is a complete 100% distraction from that legacy. When Michael, Phil Mogg and Paul Raymond were in the same room creating music, that was the most special recipe any of them ever experienced. That special recipe was completely omitted for the entirety of this interview.

my guitar hero, thank you for the inspiration, melody and everything in between.
A true genius - thank you Michael.
Michael has a youthful and energetic exuberance when he is talking about what he loves!
"I created respect for the V." Wow, what a statement.
Exactly. Like Brian Tatler, KK Downing, & a number of other guitarists don't exist.
@@NinjaRunningWild are you German?
Yes but Micheal Schenker made the V cool , he’s correct if you’re honest .
Sure, MS makes the V famost.
Michael is a TRUE rock and roll Renaissance man, and when talking bout the very top guitarists in the world, Michael definitely holds his own it that very category.
I just love the passion Michael shows for his playing. One can absolutely see how much joy and meaning playing the guitar brings to his life through how he attempts to explain the creative processes in which he works. Keep on Rocking brother!
We love and respect your true dedication & passion to your Art.
❤️😎👍
UFO was great music and still is 💯👌✌️
Honestly, a very heart touching story. I'll always gonna love him. What an Amazing guitarist & music creater.... ✌🤘
UFO & The Scorpions are equally as important in the history of Rock n’ Roll so be proud of your history. The fans know your contributions to both.
Always wondered,but now I know,thanks Michael,you’re the best!
Michael has always been one of my favorite Guitar players of all-time...!!!
Absolute brilliant analogy at the end !!!
No wonder the love drive album sounds so good.
Like HOLIDAY and LOVE DRIVE. DAMN I loved that shit.
great album really started their A league run
That album influenced many guitar players.
Launched Scorpions outside of their native Germany.
All credit to Michael Schenker.
They left him off the album credits, when HE produced all the creativity.
Tbh, Rudolf Schenker & the rest of 1980 era Scorpions need a kick in the nuts, zero respect for Michael Schenker & his timeless guitar creativity & contributions to their success.
@@paulfitzpatrick6566 I was more influenced when I heard ULRICH ROTH SCORPIONS. THat was some deep shit. M.S. short stint sounded a little lazy compared to UFO.
been listening to Micheal since the 70s... BADASS.. i was lucky the U.F.O records were available in new zealand. LONG LIVE SCHENKER... 21/04/2022 Koitiata nz
Guy is a legend! Truly unique style of playing. The headmaster of the German style of 'how to play leadguitar' school.
A great, passionate soul. What an interview. I was lucky enough to see Michael with UFO at the Morris Stage, NJ in the early 80's. Great times!
Michael has that ability to be melodic and super heavy at the same time. He's easily one of the best.
Michael was my driving force to play guitar. Absolute hero.
Same.
So true. And what he created with UFO is worth ten times more then any Scorpions album. And im a huge Scorpions fan especially the early years but they don’t come close to the UFO classics. So that’s what Michael should be talking about( if he wants to talk about the past)And of course the first 3-4 MSG albums they are all great.
He was so pissy that he went off to live in a hotel for years & self-medicate. He seems a great guitarist, but overly full of himself & unable to accept that there's other guitarists out there & that he's not the paragon of the axe.
@@NinjaRunningWild I'm shocked that no one brings up the drugs and alcohol issues? Jabs was taken along as a back-up guitar player because the Scorpions knew Michael would go on a bender. Don't get me wrong I love Michael, but I don't like him talking bad about his brother and a great band.
Michael, it seems is acting like a childish adolescent or perhaps, he never matured past that due to drugs and alcohol...ultimately, I don't kno ..
@M2S Virtual bro the Scorps died when Michael left the band let's get real dude.
"the person who is a musician - doesn't look for a "B" plan . . . " - had I heard those words 40 years ago, maybe my musical career would have been different - love Michael Schenker
Sad to hear so much bitterness and animosity from one of my all-time guitar heroes... Love ya Michael. I hope you find inner peace and humility, and somehow forgive and love your brother again
Rudy is toxic
to Michael why should he accept it?
@@mikegordon5920 What was toxic to Michael was his years of alcohol and drug abuse.
@@cumuluscloud3854 and despite that he never worried about money? I like his playing much as anyone else but he likes to leave out the parts of his life that aren't positive. Life journey is about the good and the bad. Whole lot of me me me. Surely there are some people to acknowledge and credit along the way.
A true innovator, artist and inspiration! No fear. Pursue music with no plan B. Hero!
One of the greatest players to ever strap on a guitar. A very technical player with tons of melody and emotion which isn't easy to do. Uli Jon Roth and Gary Moore as well.
And Randy Rhoads !! :)
@@1970borntorun Can't forget Randy!
he is a great player, Shankar is probably underrated, but he is not at the Rhoads or van Halen level.
Gary moore a huge Rhoads fan too
@@Dave_Wight_The_Rock_Oracle MS surpasses all others because he is underrated. If he was in a super group like VH or Ozzy, Scorps, he would undoubtedly be ranked #1. undebatable
@@StreetTruckinTitan this makes no sense, Blizzard of ozz was a super group because of Randy, he was the Michael Jordan, the fact Shankar couldn't carry a group to being super actually reduces his status in my eyes, you just hurt his case.shankar worked with better vocalists than Ozzy and Rhoads, Iommi maximized his skills. On what planet was Eddie van halen in a super group, he made Roth into an elite frontman, Roth is tone deaf, so you need to realize what great guitarists do....see a pattern?
Love Michael. Super dude with great passion.
What a natural dude. Much respect
His guitar playing is legendary. I think one of my favorites is his guitar work in the UFO song, Venus.
Absolutely!
The first time I heard the guitar on the UFO album FORCE IT, I was inspired by Michael and his amazing talent. His sound was awesome.
If you like Michael shenks FORCE IT is the creme de la creme
Me too, I was looking for something exciting in a record shop and saw this guy on the back with long hair and a white V so listened to the first song Let It Roll and that was it, the whole album is incredible, and Michael created a guitar sound like no other to this day. Interesting later to learn about his half-cocked wah pedal and 50W Marshall preference, just unique!
@@ThinPicks 👍👍👍
I love the "dreamy" section at the end of This Kid's, a mellotron I think providing the lush chords and that beautiful harmonised lead guitar melody, sounds like all of Michael's European heritage through his wonderful playing.
@@ThinPicks very probable.. the production team has never been talked about. I will look it up in Pete way's memoir
Great attitude towards being a musician NO ONE plays with his fluidness and sense of melody
Michael is a legend and a rock icon today. Kudos!
Michael has such a distinct tone, it's unmistakable, much like Brian May.
Definitely a Musical Genious. Amazing artist.
My guitarhero!
Right on Michael. We love ya man...
He is his biggest fan ;-)
"I wanted to spend my life with the guitar" This guy is cool. I saw UFO long ago, I believe they opened for some other band in ~1980. I didn't know who he was at the time.
Iconic musician, and immediately recognisable - Michael is brilliant.
I wished he would put things straight with Rudolf. Not to be together in a band, but just because - certainly at their age - life is too short for sibling rivalry...
They are both great in their own ways.
When things started to get beyond cheesy in the early 80's, this guy still had tone, touch, and lots of cool to go around.
Michael Schenker !!!
1000% Good honest Rock'n'roll
Great humble genuine guy 🎸🎵🎶magnificent guitar player. Saw him with UFO in 70s..his playing on strangers. Love drive .obsession and walk on water...And MSG..
Awesome and beautiful..legend..
An absolute living legend and long time hero of mine.
