I thought how to acclimate fish was to take the water they came in and put them in a bucket/tank and pour some of your tank water in that bucket every 15 min. After a few times, take just the fish and put in your tank.
When fish get delivered to you they're in a sealed bag. The moment you open that bag and oxygen gets inside it affects the toxicity of the ammonia in that water. Do not use that bag water for any reason after you open the bag. If you must, then add a drop of Seachem Prime to detoxify the ammonia. Drip acclimation isnt necessary for most fish. If your PH is different from the bag water source, adding water to the bag water takes days for that PH to adjust.
What's the water TEMP for your Cichlids?? I have mine in my office, which hangs around 80 degrees. It seems ok, since he's swimming around and looks all right. :)
