Hello, I am new to the hobby and 2 days ago, I set up my 42-gallon tank. I dechlorinated the water and pour the nitrifying bacteria according to the instructions. It smells like urine (based on my research, it includes ammonia to feed the bacterias in the solution) Today, I just got home and checked the water. Thank you for the answer!

I would love to but I havent done enough research yet to ensure anemone can thrive while using tap water. I will be adding anemone to my Reef tank though 😁
I am moving a 55 to a 150 I will need more substrate can I put new down and the add the old or should it all just be new? All rock and canister will move over also.

In the future, I'd definitely catch the fish and keep them in a bucket of old tank Water while u transfer over the old substrate. Doing the fish first then the substrate definitely stresses them out more, and so much ammonia and nitrates are produced when substrate is all kicked up releasing everything.
That’s untrue. Sand dust floating in the water does not stress fish. (It stress’s us because the water doesn’t look good) They couldn’t care less about that and it causes no changes in their ability to pull oxygen through their gills. Also, ammonia and nitrites are not “produced” by mixing and moving sand. I have moved substrate several times in the 10 years I’ve been fish keeping.
If you’re going from fresh to saltwater, is there any special cleaning that needs to be done to the filter ? Or is it only vise Versa (fresh - salt). Possibly am commenting before you addressed in video
The bacteria in the filter wont survive because ytou need different bacteria for saltwater...so might as well do a full and complete cleaning on the filter and start fresh! 😁
So cool man! I just wanted to ask you why did you find the need to switch to bigger tank? Did you start having some issues due to space? I would like to know this, since i just barely started a FOWLR tank with tap water as well, for 130L , so I want to know what could be the impact for this in the future please. Thanks a lot
I didnt have space issues YET! But I knew with an Emperor Angel Fish, I eventually would. (They get huge) Plus, Caribsea sent me a ton of rock and I really wanted to try doing my own rockscape in a big tank. Also, I want to start a new challenge and keep a planted tank in the 100 😁

Dope video bro. I thought you said always open the outake said then intanke when powering the fx back on?
Thanks bro...when you have a trapped syphon in both hoses, it doesnt matter which one you open first, just open them both before powering back on.
Bro, you got me acting like a pro in my new 150 Gallon, it's gonna be Discus. Thanks Kaveman NY🇵🇷✊️
🤣🤣 Glad to hear that bro!

Also, I want to start a new challenge and keep a planted tank in the 100 😁
@KaveManAquatics thanks a lot for your answer, appreciated. Cheers from Perú

Awesome video but do you think having two gold severums in a 125 gallon tank is too small for them?

🤣🤣 I wish I could make these long videos with a snap of a finger, that would be dope! 🤣🤣
@KaveManAquatics 30 minutes or 10 minutes im still gonna watch your videos and know that your in the sait water aquariums i think that's great kev. Im telling you this cause you inspired and gave me the confidence of doing things in my fresh water tanks. Know I'm seeing that it ain't so hard to do a sait water setup thanks to you im really thinking about giving it a try thanks to you brother. Ive been watching your channel for sometime and you manage to show me something new each video.
Kaveman!! How long does a bacterial bloom last, I've had it for a week , I know its not the substrate i use aragonite sand from carib sea. ?
Well it depends on if you're doing things to prolong it. Stop water changing, stop feeding (or feed VERY little) and keep the lights to a minimum. Stability can help speed things up too
