- ABANDONED 1968 Plymouth Satellite taken from the scrap pile & made into a daily driver race car just in time for the Muscle Cars at the Strip (MATS) Show in Las Vegas, NV.
In this episode I show you how to install the front & rear QA1 suspension and Wilwood disc brakes. What a difference!
If you'd like to support the channel, please check out our merch below! Also follow me on Instagram for more pictures of the build @rust_bucket_restos
QA1 should be very happy with the ad value they're getting from your channel. I like how you laid it all out and then installed it on the bench. Looking good. T Bone's gonna be an ace mechanic!
It’s top notch stuff! I’m glad i get to showcase it on my projects!
I never get tired of watching your content! The road runner convertible is moving along nicely at the next stop 😊
Awesome! Can’t wait for Vegas! 😎🤙
Good times expected! Fun to watch the transformation satty! Can’t wait to see it and all the others run!🙂
Awesome display of workmanship
Thanks for the kind words! 😎🤙
Looking good! QA1 package was soooo mannny boxes! Everything was really packaged well and it is impressive when you get it all laid out! The quality is certainly apparent when you get your hands on it. Looking forward to seeing you putting the Satty through its paces! We all want lots of video!
It’s well worth the money in my opinion! 😎🤘
Always a great clear & professionally put together video Dave. Having the little man get on tools is the go. It never gets old watching your show. Keep up the good work. 35 days man. 👍🇦🇺
Thanks for the kind words! & for watching! 😎🤘
Ive watched several installation videos of QA1 kits. Great kit and looks great on your Plymouth Sattelite thank you 😊
Sure is! Thanks for watching!
Looks very nice ..... can't wait to see more....good content and thanks
Thanks for watching! 😎🤘
Great video and real nice look on all the new suspension. Work work work.
I can remember four links being recommended for drag racing when you get into the 10 second range. I don't understand what benefit they provide for drag racing at lower hp levels and they would seem to be a really big disadvantage in autocross. I am going from the Mopar Bible.
In 72 and 73 Ford and GM went to coil spring trailing arm rear suspensions to give their Torinos and Chevelles the smooth ride of a Town Car or Sedan DeVille. But it made their handling worse, not better.
One thing Mopar bragged about in their ads was that the rear leaf springs were mounted as far outboard as possible, which braced up the rear for better handling. You can see the coils are inboard of the frame rails in this conversion.
So, after searching the interwebs, it seems there is a slight weight savings in the front.
And it looks like room for a larger backspace rear tire and wheel package.
Meadow Green or Mint Green or whatever it is called.... my old 69 GTX was that color before some previous owner kitsched it up. I hope you can repaint it in that color and buff it out.
the QA1 suspension front and back is really nice. great job on the build. can't wait for the next episode!
Thanks for watching! 😎🤙
Who's working harder, the painter or the welder,I say the painter for sure.❤🎉😊
Haha he did a great job!
@@rustbucketrestos6511 that means he gets paid 100 dollars an hour.
It is really looking awesome! The car is going to be a blast to drive and race! T-bone is getting a great education! This is how I got started with my Dad some 50 years ago!
Hell yeah! 😎🤘
Very good work. I like very.It should be a nice project.💯💯👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🤏👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍💪💪💪💪
Looks fantastic. Thank you for showing the adjustments in the back. After seeing you install these a few times definitely helps. Ride is going to be amazing
Thanks brother! 😎🤙
I want to see T Bone drive it. I taught my grand son to drive at 12 yrs old.
Haha maybe one day! He’s only 8, so he’d need a few telephone books to sit on!
Great episode. Just the right amount of showing stuff getting done and leaving out the no-brainer stuff. T-Bone got his perfection on with that paint brush! The music was killer in this episode as well, especially the 80's-sounding rock song that started at 18:53. I'd put that on my music player!
Thanks for watching! Gotta love that 80s rock!
Enjoying the build
It’s going to be unique and well thought out , hope you end up with a little test and tune time with it, so very important.
Thank goodness! Hoping to have it driving in a week or two.
Nice 👍
This is one nice build my friend t bone right in there with his dad love it 0:07
Thanks brother! 😎🤙
Good Job
Thanks brother 😎🤘
You are killing it bro!!!
Thanks brother 😎🤘
Hanging with daddy, working on the Satty!
They love being out there! 😎🤘
With that roll around table, it would be simple to drop the K-member back out. Put the engine and tranny together on the K-member on the table and drop the body over all of it at once.. Save a lot of time and pain.... You have NO IDEA how bad I want to get back to work on my car... 65' Coronet 500.... I want to do all of the same suspension and add my 440/727.....
You’re reading my mind perfectly!
Nice presentation....
Thanks for watching! 😎🤙
Alignment shops frighten me these days, usually done by kids that can barely change tires. Hopefully you have a good shop!
Great progress bud
Thanks brother! 😎🤙
Looks great but noticed bleeders on bottom side of front calipers. Never gonna bleeder properly like that
The Wilwood calipers have bleeders on top & bottom. 😎🤙
Real nice suspension and nice work, however I questioned well wood breaks dependability after watching a video from junker up by Chris birdsong he races a lot of these kind of cars and had a lot of problems, may want to check out his video on wellwood brakes.
We’ll be putting them to the test in a few weeks! Can’t wait! 😎🤘
While I won't "Pay the money" & "Do the surgery" required of a full QA-1set-up (or Magnum Force, whomever else has a similar set-up), I do have a full Bergman Auto Craft set-up that does have some QA-1 bits. My Plymouth also runs the US Car Tool "Stage II" chassis stiffening kit. I have a couple friends with full QA-1, they do drive nice. None of my Mopars are drag machines, nor show poodles; I can daily them or drive up the Alcan in the summer with no real worries. It's still not cheap, whichever way you go with suspension & steering, but you have to balance how much you are going to do and how much you'll spend
As I’ve learned with a few of these mopar builds, it’s never cheap!
Nope, but if youre going to do it...do it once, do it right@rustbucketrestos6511
I think that old Mopar wants to be a Gasser!
That would be awesome!
Should you put a dummy block with head's on to see your Header >Clearance while your engine is getting rebuilt. And Will you be finishing the Charger This Year??
It’s the same engine & headers going back in the car. My only concern is the new steering linkage. Nothing a hammer can’t fix!
The only QA1 products I own are single adjustable shocks that I bought for my '69 Camaro and they are admittedly excellent if expensive. Mine is a numbers matching L35 big block 4 speed so I am keeping it as stock as possible but I have looked at the front end and coil over kits and they are $$$$. Is QA1 providing all these kits for you free of charge or just at a steep discount? Either way, what a hell of a great sponsor to have, especially for a smaller channel. I am really excited to see this and the other builds get done, keep up the great work!
Thanks brother. There are definitely cheaper kits out there. I just really appreciate the quality & workmanship of their products. Having them made in the USA is also a huge plus! That camaro sounds like fun!
What other videos do you have showing the rear install?
Check out the installs we I did on the Roadrunner & Cuda a few months ago
Get the Body Dipped
Not while it’s in my possession.. maybe the next owner
Very nice 👍👍👍😎😎😎
😎🤘
What size tire are you using also whats the back spacing on the rim I have a 69 Satellite and am trying to figure
out the biggest tire and rim I can fit on a stock suspension
I'm not sure if you have talked about this, But are you gonna use a carb or holly sniper system ?.
I get pretty frustrated when people build retro performance cars still using a 100 year old technology, Especially as you said it's going to be used as a daily driver.
I made this mistake myself when I built my last datsun, I used triple webbers when I could of got fuel injection thats looks like webbers for not much more money, The webbers where a bastard to set up and kept going out of tune.
At the of the day I don't know your budget and its your car, I'm just sharing my point of view and experience.
I’ll be running a pair of the Edelbrock VRS 4150s on a tunnel ram setup. Should be pretty killer! 😎🤙
Hey Dave joe king is trying to get in touch wit you call him
Why not paint the car?
Assume QA1 and AMD are sponsering the parts but the paint would be out of $ pocket $.
Some prefer it that way. He has full restorations coming along but sometimes a patina build is nice. Don't have to worry about rain or normal road rash, just jump in and beat on it without stressing about the finish. Same reason I have a patina shop truck.
@richs7362 no time or desire to paint this car. It took Mother Nature 50 years to perfect its current paint job! 😎👌
Don’t get it right, just get it running
is the pretty young girl T-BONED`S sister how many children do you have?
Sure is. I have 4 little ones
you and your wife are very busy@@rustbucketrestos6511
