- ABANDONED 1968 Plymouth Satellite taken from the scrap pile & made into a daily driver race car.
In this episode I swap out the old mystery torque converter for a new Hughes 3,000 stall converter. I also install a new Cheetah Turbo Action 17156 reverse manual valve body. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!
For those waiting for tire smoke & burnouts, you're going to love this one!

Love this build but can’t wait for the Charger to come back and join the Satty
Next on deck!
That Satty is cool…. but I want to see that ‘68 Charger built and on the road- Second Gen chargers (especially ‘68’s) are the undisputed King!! 👑
I couldn’t agree with you more about how sweet the 68’ charger is, my favorite car of all time! To clarify tho it’s a second gen charger. First gen was 66-67’ fastback style with the illuminescent dash cluster. All in due time, I do like all the B-bodies to be honest. In my mind they represent the true essence of “muscle car!”
@@MidnightOilsRestoration thanks for pointing that out. I don’t know what I was thinking there, I have a ‘68 Charger and know that it is a second gen…. Long Monday I guess… 😆🥴
@@torekristoffersen176 happens to the best of us brother 😁
The car is just as cool in person! Thanks for leading the charge for ice cream at the Ogden show the other night!
Hell yeah! Your galaxy was pretty awesome too 😂🤙
@@rustbucketrestos6511 HAHA, took me a second to remember who said that!
Dave, your metal work videos are some of the best on UA-cam. Glad to see you showing some mechanic work!
Thanks brother! 😎🤙
Love the drone footage
Also, why can’t I give this 440 thumbs up?
Thanks! I thought it was pretty cool too!
The sweet music of a big block Mopar!
😎🤘
The Satty just keeps getting better! I think I missed the surprise I will have to watch again!
😎🤘
That’s exactly where my 68 Satellite is leaking, 318 904 car, your Satellite looks great
It’s a piece of cake with the transmission out of the car!
Did the exact valve body on my GTX. Drove it a few miles and no gears. Trans was dead. Come to find out the valve body has more pressure than normal. It ate up the 2 washers on the output shaft. Had to take it back apart and install stainless ones. That was over 30 years ago. Just test drive it before you travel a long distance.
Dang sorry to hear that! So far so good with mine. I wouldn’t say I’ve been too soft on it either… hopefully it holds up! 😎🤞
Nice job on the project....great content and thanks 🔧👍
Thanks brother! 😎🤙
That car is cool as hell 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Man, I just love it!
That was the greatest opening footage for a car video ever!
Thanks brother! 😎🤙
That car has a dialed combination! Good job buddy!
Sure does! It’s a sweet setup!
Outstanding! Sounds killer and looks awesome!
Bad azz ride and burnouts! Excellent video too.
Thanks for watching! 😎🤘
Absolutely love the growth of your channel ,so cool to see!
New subscriber! Addicted to the satty!!!! 🤘🏻
😎🤙
Excellent job! Cool exit to your video too. 👍👍
Love it! Nice job!
Thanks brother! 😎🤘
Buddy had a 70 Challenger with a reverse shift, seemed alien to operate to me and he didn't like it either. Trans got rebuilt with a normal shift pattern. Pushing away/up to gear up and pulling towards/down to gear down is just what feels natural, but whatever if you're comfortable with it. Do put in a floor shift column though, that grocery getter/taxi cab column is an eyesore
Haha it sure is! A grinder will take care of it …
Dipstick tubes are known to leak too car sits fluid drains back into the transmission from torque converter overfills the transmission and fills up the tube over time they leak
Man, I put enough sealant on the dipstick tube, I don’t think it will leak… or ever come off for that matter 😂😂😂
Cool intro. Love the channel
Thanks brother! 😎🤘
I too am anxious to see the 68 finished! But I am enjoying the heck out of the RS! Just sayin
Next on deck!
Awesome video, love the end. ❤
How does this channel keep getting better and better! I asked a long time ago ...... when is velocity picking you up for a series
Thanks brother! Maybe one day!
You're making me miss my '68 Road Runner too much !!
Such a cool car! 😎🤘
Thats the goods.......whoot whoot😎
😎🤙
Very cool
I have a Cold Case in my 67 Dart, they are great!
Hell yeah!
Beauty job👍 If you can source them the best reusable 727 pan gasket I've used is the FelPro PermaDryPlus gasket. If it ain't silicone, it sure feels like it and it has 4 or 5 lines of ridges inner to outer, meaning if it gets past the first, it's not getting past the rest, etc.
First used them on my EFI 5.0 litre Bronco's valve cover gaskets because one of them required pulling the upper intake off. They were developed specifically to solve the valve cover gasket leaks on the 5.0 litre Exploder that paid 13 hours to replace(kinda wanna do them only once). Oh yeah.....you can re-tighten and re-tighten and re-snug them over and over and over, pretty much forever, they don't care😆. Had one set glued to a set of valve covers I've had on 3?, 4? Different small block Mopars for over a decade(they last forever). Enjoy that Satty! Malcolm Ottawa Valley
Great advice. Thanks brother! 😎🤘
Nice... more road tests.
Yessssss! 😎🤘
So cool bud
Thanks brother! 😎🤘
Before I jump off the bridge, where's the 68 charger 🥴
Haha you’re gonna like the next video 😎
@@rustbucketrestos6511 guess I get to live another day 🫡
cool as hell !!!
😎🤙
I missed where you got the valve body. Was it John cope? Sounds awesome!
I got it from a friend that picked it up at a swap meet. You can buy them new at summit for a few hundred bucks. Not bad!
the pan rail area on the transmission case has a tendancy to warp causing a small or big leak. hope it doesnt leak , periodically you should have those bands adjusted especially if you pound the snot out of it. ive been messing around with torqeflites for 40 years. take care of them and it will last dont ever neutral drop a torqueflite , thats when the forward clutch drum flies apart and likes to come through the floorboard. not to scare you . ive seen them brake at the racetrack .
Great info thanks for sharing! The new seal is holding up great so far!
Cool beans , any plans for dyno mat on headliner ect ???
It definitely wouldn’t hurt! It’s a little loud inside without the carpet & sound deadener. Then again, it kind of makes it fun!
Nice!!
😎🤙
The charger and the cuda done
Soon!
I know it doesn't matter now, but I'm going to be "That Guy". At about 15:30 of the video show you old radiator setup, I noticed that the fan was mounted backward. Sorry to nit pick. I love your builds.
Sometimes them Allen / small round pan bolts will leak (sealing washer’s like on the pump) factory bolts have a washer like head
For a Mopar it sounds good.
Sure does! 😎🤙
She a weapon 👍🏻🇦🇺.
Sure is!
Bad ass
Did you change the seal inside for the kick downshift
Sure did! No leaks either! Crazy how much a little seal can leak!
Hey Dave just curious but where and how did you come up with the name ratty satty
It’s ratty & it’s a plymouth satellite! This one was easy! Naming the Cuda & Charger is a lot tougher!
Dang dude, you lost some weight from being sick I suppose
Haha that & I shaved!
I was at the live chat no one there
Sorry I got pulled away! Thanks for watching!
I had to replace the selector shaft seal on my Belvedere and the tool is worthless, dropped the pan and valve body and punched it out from underground.
5 min job once the valve body is out!
Looked like the mods worked good !......Did you see Birdsong weld domes on his flat top pistons ? OMG !!
Sure did! It’s holding up beautifully too! 😎🤘
LOL, WOOHOO, all i can say!
So much fun! 😎🤘
I put a Cheetah Turbo Action 17156 reverse manual valve body in my 1967 plymouth Barracuda. My car slam's in gear so much that my dash shake's and chirps tires every time. You should be better by 1/2 second in 1/4 mile just by adding the valve body. Did u put Type F in your transmission, it's a thicker fluid that's what it should have, not Type lll aka as 3.
I run ATF+4 in it. So far so good!
👍👍👍🇸🇪❤️
WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO FINISH THE CHARGER ???????????????????????????????????????
I am sitting here going to sleep watching you work on this boat anchor.
Haha it’s next on deck! You’re going to like the next video!
