    I use Indy 92a cushions in all my setups: Stage X 169s, 215s, & Ace 66 Classics to give them the surfy/carve feel 👍🏽 The harder bushing keeps me from having to crank down my kingpin to get the perfect looseness. I'm a heavy guy, but i don't use top washers, so when i carve hard it duzn't cut into the urethane and damage the bushing integrity. I grew up on the standard Indy orange bois, and they turned gr8, but they would have chunks taken out of them after a while and no longer squished good 😅 and replacing them w/ more 90a would just repeat the cycle AND stretch out the kingpin til it eventually snapped. The Blue Indy boys (conical & standard) make wheelbite more forgiving & even cured my crooked roll too 🤣 💙💙
    I started doing this becuz i h8d the sound of my washer clinking when i would make hard turns, and it turned out to be the best decision i've made for my sk8n. 🙌🏾
    The Stage 4s look good for pumping on flat, a forgotten skill 😏 I was considering getting them, but the 66s (Indy Stage 3 dimensions) w/ 92a bushings seem similar enough 🔍

    *Tip: try a little pencil lead shavings in ur pivot cups to get rid of the sound. It lasts longer than oil lubricants, and might be safer for the plastic idk. ✏

    Great review! Love that you talk about bushing compatibility. The skate footage is also some great stuff! Question: what do you mean by the indies having a more “controllable” grind than the AF1s?
    I’d be interested to see your thoughts on Slappy trucks at some point. I got some for an old school deck, and after swapping the boardside bushing for an indy 92a, I’m really enjoying them so far.

      By controllable, I mean the ability to react and choose when to stay on or get off the obstacle while grinding. Sometimes if I grind too fast, I won't be able to react quickly enough and choose when to get on or off the obstacle. Hopefully I made some sort of sense :v

    ACE AF1’s with their Hard bottom bushing and Stock/Medium top bushing with the kingpin nut flush is my prefered way of skating them. More stable with the same great turn.

    I like them, definitely different from the aces or stage 11 I have skated in the past, wish they made a lighter more slim version with same turning

      i just got some 169 stage xi titaniums and i love them. some much more control stability and they are noticably lighter than the 159s i was using

    I find that bushings tend to have mould release on them when new... so a bit slick against the metal. That’s why
    they bulge out easily until broken in. I usually take it all apart, wipe everything thing down ( maybe sand them slightly ) then reassemble.

      i did this last time i swapped out bushings. Wiped down everywhere the bushing touches, and even rubbed a little starch on there so the cushion would sit sturdier so not to slide around and become misshapen or spin around like Stage 4 cushions did 😅

    surprisingly fun for flip tricks mini ramp and pyramid sessions...but i cant slash with them and tweak out nose grinds like i would with a traditional indy setup with conical bushings that im used to....also i got the 146 stupidly so i could try them with popsicle boards too....even though i SOLELY ride 8.75" axle on every board i set up shaped or 8.38-8.62 pop. That being said for a QUIVER setup id run the 8.65" axle in rotation...and consider mixing up the Bushings to find a more ideal/feel/response for my tastes. The 8.35" isnt enough hanger for me to properly lock in/hold grinds in transition compared to 159s or venture 6.1s. Also the way they turn/oscillate Make them a different feel/lock in/pop out for fs noses/and fs tail slides if youre largely used to how to control/pop out etc those tricks with an indy standard. Theyre just "lacking" when youre truly used to indy standards with conical bushings...when you try to go FULL out and do what you normally would with your go to setup...youll often find yourself EATING it or taking massive slams. Which is why it belongs on a quiver with a "shaped board" that isnt so encouraging towards getting "GNARLY" just something modest for pools/mini ramp type sessions or pure ollie/half cab inspired FLOW riding. Even a cruiser would be fun with these forsure or some RETRO/throwback shaped board with re-issue wheels. The trucks dont feel very "enabling" the way you could see immediate pros/cons from swapping from 159 indys to venture 6.1s or ace AF1 60s. That being said id consider venture 6.1s and ace 60s over these....theyre more for a "flair/FUN" factor like popping in loose/soft bushings for a quiver setup for fun sake if you normally ride med/hard bushings. FWIW Id take my 144 mid hollows with conical bushings over these if i were to skate my local with an 8.38. But on a shaped board 8.6-9.25" id consider the stage 4 8.65" bc i already expect to not skate Switch as much or delve into flip trick/bag of tricks vs living out that setup on coping/slappys or airs/grabs. Even then i run 92a top conical and 94a bottom on my indys usually...and id have to buy aces 60$+ their hard bushing set....just to find something that responds similarly to how i ride my indys. To me thats too expensive and why i snag 6.1s on deal or wait for my local shop to have 15-20% off to get something like the Stage 4s since i have 3 sets of 92a conicals and 2 sets of 94a conical indys for my quivers. TBH my experience with stage 4s made me even MORE interested in getting/owning ace 60s....ive had the og aces in the past some 8" and 8.25" from friends/loaning them to me...its just the bushings arent my cup of tea...the geometry/trick response is solid.

    Very good review! Could you buy and review the mini logo trucks. I bought some just because they were cheap but was blown away with their performance - turn, height, weight, grindability etc

    I just got these few days ago. Two sessions down and I must say, I'm bit disappointed on the turning. Everything else I really dig, the look, the grind, etc.. I had high expectations on the turning possibilities cuz of different reviews but my previous trucks, stage 11 159, had more turn than these. Did you have to ride the bushings in? Did the turning of the truck change after time?

      What size are you riding on the Stage 4s? I haven't tried Stage 4s yet, but, I've noticed that 159s turn a lot better than 169s. That's why I wanted to try the 9" Stage 4s. To see if they turn better than 169s.

      These had a nice turn when new, and bushings firmed up a bit while breaking them in; I had to loosen the kingpin nut a bit. I didn't have any issues with bad turning.

      @@idmhead0160 I ride the 151 on the stage 4s. I can agree with you. 159 stage 11 might be the best turning indy out there.

      @@idmhead0160 i think if u make ur 169s surfy (Indy 92a conical cushions) the turn is similar to the Stage 4s, however the height difference causes easier wheelbite. I think the Stage 4 dimensions are more like an Ace Classic.

      Late reply, but I would bet you could get away with 58s and maybe even 60s. But if you’re unsure, some 1/8th riser pads would work great!

    I guess the turning feeling is quite subjective. I used to ride in the 80's, trucks in general did turn (except Venture). Then in the late 90's early 2k's every company did trucks that did not turn(Venture style). You had to lean a lot for the truck to start turning and even then it was not a sharp turn.
    The stage XI were supposed to turn, it was an improvement but not like Indys used to be. I tried Ace classics a few years ago and they DO turn. My stage XI have soft bushings and are loose, they kind of turn. My aces classics have top stock ace bushing with 2mm shaved and bottom hard bones bushings and they DO turn without wheelbite.
    My point is, if Stage IV turn like aces, there is a huge difference between them and the stage XI. At least where I am concerned.
    Being in Europe I will have to wait till summer to buy the stage IV if they reach the world beyond "selected skateshops". It may be nostalgia but can't wait to tinker a bit with the stage IV 151.

      @@bw6927 Hi, where did you bought them? Online or in a skate shop? In my local skateshop they have no access to stage IV yet. It may be due to the special relationship with US some countries have. Those "selected skateshops" include some Canadians ones like Shred.

    Has anyone else noticed that Indy 169s turn less good than 159s? That is my impression. I even tried soft and super soft bushings on the 169s. For some reason, they were still harder than 159s that I had stock bushings on. To me, it seems like the turn radius is worse on 169s. I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed this. I want to try the 9" Stage 4s when the come out to see if they turn better than 169s. What about Ace 9" trucks? Do they turn better than Indy 169s? What's the difference between Classics and AF1s in terms of turning?

      I've noticed that the hardness of stock bushings seems to vary. I'm thinking they harden over time and may be harder even right when you buy them if the trucks have been on the shelf longer. I have several sets of Indys in different sizes and have noticed this even when the truck widths are the same. 169s seem to turn the worst compared to the smaller sizes. 159s seem to be the sweet spot for me.

      Had that problem the other way around, 159s felt too stiff with the exact same bushings, maybe kingpin is 1thread shorter or so!
      Have 151 and 166 stage4 now with ace bushings, that feels perfect for me :)

      It sometimes really depends on the deck and the risers. Longer wheelbases change the turn radius, as well as risers or wheel well scalloping change the turning feel. Body size, weight and foot size also make a big difference. Personally I find the turn on the Aces with stock bushing and pivot cup are the best turn for my style. Very carvy and precise and technical - especially on the AF1. On indies I find Bones bushings can make for a much nicer turn than stock Indies. Of course all this is personal.
