    I used to ride 99a Spitfires all the time, but since the Dragons came out I have only rode those and I love them. Allows me to skate longer and just feel better after…I will stick with Dragons.

      I was a diehard Spitfire guy in the 90's. I'm an old man now getting back into skating. I tried the Dragons.. and while I liked them on asphalt for sliding.. they felt a little weird, and didn't work in concrete parks (for me, personally). I picked up these Spitfire 93a's and I'm much happier with them. Keep shreddin! 🤘

    I have these wheels and love them. If you're coming from a formula four 99a or 97a they're not going to feel wildly different, they're literally a slightly softer version of those.
    I feel like wheels in the 92/93a range fall in one of two camps - they either feel like a very soft hard wheel, or a very hard soft wheel. The spits are a soft hard wheel. The dragons are a hard soft wheel.

    Great video thanks buddy , watched a few of your videos and they are great keep up the good work. Just have a question for you.... my only complaint with the dragons is that i don't like the sound when they slide, too quiet for me. Would you say the spitfires make more of a loud bark like traditional f499s?

    I’ve been loving the dragon 93a mostly because of the speed difference, they are faster than the 90-95a of any other kind I always skated over the years.
    I was going to get some x97s for hot days.
    What would you say is faster
    between spitfire 93a and x97?

    Thanks for the info. Just got the Dragons as they come in V4 shape that I like. Didn't get FX97 because of shapes available. I love the Radials F4 so this 93a sounds good. Maybe when I get tired of the Dragons.

      don't bother if you ride on rough surface a lot. The Spitfire 93's aren't soft at all

    I looooooooooooove these wheels so far, the only problem is, idk why but when i skate this one specific street spot with a small ledge, every time i tried to do noseslides or tailslides, the wheels kinda stick so i have to wax the side of the ledge for the wheels to slide better. I tried skating a different street spot with ledges they slide no problem at all. I really want to try out the bones x97 or x99 but idk which one to pick cause i like the softness but i want it to slide better for sure while doing noseslides, etc. So x97 or x99's?

    Hi Thorne, I was wondering if could do an experiment on wheels that touches on a somewhat unclear part of their shapes and duro.
    I like the shape and feel of wider and softer wheels, but they obviously make the board quite heavier and get sticky. What I would love to see is a methodical showcase of exactly how well they roll, and how they grip.
    If wheels with the same diameter but different shape and duro were set up on identical boards, (or switching out just the wheels on one setup) then one would ride down a hill leading to a flat area, starting from standstill at the same spot and going down the same trajectory, the difference would be clear instead everyone saying 'I think it's faster/smoother.'
    Comparing crusty and smooth surface, or doing this with speedometer(gps..?) would be great too to see how exactly they speed up and slow down.

    Totally see where you are coming from on that. The dragons are a little slower I feel. But I feel my back and feet just feel so much better. When I wear these out I will try the new Spitfires. I wanted to try the OJ double duro but the price was so much higher.

    I passed on these and the nano cubics(asymetrical) bc i thought both were too soft and wasnt a fan of the asymmetrical profile with the mini cubics. For some 99a radials instead. IMO i feel like i should have waited for 56-57mm radial full 97a to come back into stock i have way to many different sizes/brands of the conical full shape as it was. I dont skate street that much anyways mostly park and i was more fearful of maintaining speed wall to wall in transition/flow. That intro though XD....i got satori 101a conical fulls in 54 and 56mm. Ill die on my island thinking bones wheels look/feel/sound like toy/plastic and just geniuinely dont OFFER that TRUE feel/sound when rolling/over cracks etc. Cant stand the way they chirp when doing powerslides/slides...vs the pig squeal i expect from wheels. Whats sad is id grab pig guttercut wheels in a heartbeat if those were still in circulation which are asymetrical. Like a spitfire classic on the inside and a conical full profile on the outer half of the wheel. Id love to ride some guttercuts again.

    I really wish someone would actually test the durometer of these, dragons, and x97 + x99. Having tried all of them a good bit - and really liking the spitfire 93a - it seems very obvious to me that they are pretty much right between X97 and X99. They work as well on park ground as X99, but glide over rough ground a bit more like X97. But, spitfire didn’t want to disrupt/confuse their FF 99a line, and they *did* want the favorable comparisons against Dragons, so they called these 93a.

    • @jamesryan4325
      @jamesryan4325 7 місяців тому +1

      Yes totally agree with everything you said. I reckon these must be more like 97-99A. Spitfire wheels always feel way harder than they are marketed as. Their 99A feels way harder than other 99's. I'd like to see a durometer test as well, it's obvious Spitfire wanted these to be compared to Dragons. Btw apparently Spitfire are reworking their 97A with this new tech.

      @@jamesryan4325 Glad I’m not alone in that thinking. If they are updating the FF 97s, I’d be hyped for the spitfire 97a/X101 wheels!

    • @jimmyhuang8730
      @jimmyhuang8730 7 місяців тому +1

      SPITFIRE only marketed these as 93A to cut into the now huge and probably the #1 selling "soft" skate wheel that slide Dragon market but these SFF4 93A can't handle rough like Dragons and that's a fact due to the Spitfire Formula Four formula which even toned down to its softest possible still rides harder and no softer than a 97A duro which is FALSE ADVERTISEMENT and charging more than Dragons/X97/X99 is stupid and ridiculous unless you just need to have Spitfire for softer wheels and hates Powell/Bones you're just getting rip off for a equal or lesser product that isn't any better especially on rough vs Dragons.

    • @jimmyhuang8730
      @jimmyhuang8730 7 місяців тому +1

      I heard they ride on rough more like X99, they don't handle rough as soft as X97 so no where soft or a real 93A like Dragons which destroys rough and still slide. Regardless X99/X97 are $4 cheaper for the same type of wheel, dumb to pay more for the same wheel other than just buying them for the "brand".

    Throne, you own and reviewed the SFF4 97A before, how much differences is there between SFF4 97A and these SFF4 93A in speed, ride softness, and silde ability? I bet NOT MUCH, I wouldn't be shocked if Spitfire just rebrand the SFF4 97A into these and just call it 93A or toned down SFF4 as much as possible and still ended up very similar to SFF4 97A.. what say you? Are SFF4 97A and 93A different at all or the same wheel?

    $4 more than X97/X99, even $4 cheaper for 60mm X99 Tony Hawks, on Skatewarehouse for essentially the same type of wheel and Spitfire is 1-1.5+ years late on releasing these fake falsely advertised 93A that rides like a 97a/99a, ridiculous and a joke. Just buy Dragons for rough and if you going to spend money on Spitfire, stick to 99A for smooth/park, these are over priced when you can get the same wheel for cheaper with X97/X99 if you need or perfer a softer and slower than 99A hybrid wheel.

  • @jimmyhuang8730

    These SFF4 93A is not a real 93A wheel. It's most likely Formula Four completely toned down to it's softest possible duro and yet it's only as soft as X99 LOL which speaks to how hard the Spitfire Formula Four formula is as oppose to the Dragon formula at its softest 93A and hardest at 99A X99 essentially how skate wheel formula works, therefore if Spitfire really wants to compete and beat out Dragons as a true "soft" wheel that slides THEY OR ANY OTHER skate wheel company need to come out with a brand new formula like George Powell did, GL WITH THAT IN ANOTHER 10+ YEARS LOL, and that's a big MAYBE LOL!!!! AKA NOTHING BEATS DRAGONS ON ROUGH. And that will not change in the foreseeable future until someone else comes out with a brand new better skate wheel formula. Furthermore Spitfire is 1-1.5+ years late, Dragons has been out 1.5+ years and X formula 1+ years, they could have soften and release this version as soon as Dragons hit the market, and they took this long and still want to charge a premium for these when X97 and X99 is already out? Terrible marketing strategy, they should have copy Microsoft and sold these for $10 or even $5 cheaper than Dragons/X97/X99, "You can't beat them join them or JUST UNDER CUT THEM!!!" But they are generally priced more than Dragons/X97/X99 lol...

      I have both, my thoughts are that these are far better for things most spitfire customers will care about. They feel extremely similar on rough ground, but when it comes to slides and grinds the spitfires are truly amazing. Literally no squeak or slowdown. The dragons by comparison absolutely ruin crooked grinds/tail slides etc. that is just not acceptable to me.
