Czechoslovakia and Poland didnt even wanted to disolve the Comecon without a successor organization, József Antall literally had to convince them about this issue during the first ever Visegrád summit (which gonna be the founding moment of what we know today as the V4). In basically every single issue Hungary was the sledgehammer bashing the Iron Curtain, and surprisingly to great effect. You have definitely butterflied away the conclusion of our own timeline's Cold War, as it was Hungary opening their border with Austria that allowed East Germans to reach the west, and the subsequent Soviet nonintervention would discredit not just the Berlin Wall but also the entire Iron Curtain. I think the post-Soviet part of this scenario could only come about as you hypothesized if Hungary wasn't folded into the "Balkan experiment" after that failed revolution.
I know you have many video plans but it would be really cool if you made a video about "What if Greco-Turkish Union did happen". Interesting but there is actually an ideology named Hellenoturkism.
Maybe at first Serbia and Bulgaria unite in 1878, in 1885 they jointly march in Eastern Rumelia and Montenegro. Let’s say, after the 1905 Revolution in Russia, in Moldova breaks out a revolt and Romania seeks to integrate it in itself. Russia plans to swiftly invade both Moldova and Romania to return the status quo, but Serbo-Bulgaria proposes a solution: Romania will get Moldova in the following years, but accept to join the Balkan union and thus be in the Russo sphere of influence. Russia will accept this and the plan will go through, because Romania was heavily influenced by France, but France is an ally of Russia and if they get financial guarantees in the Balkan Union, they won’t mind nothing. So now we won’t have the rivalry of Serbia and Bulgaria, Serbia has a coastline, Dobrudja won’t be disputed, Bosnia is still Turkish (not invaded by AH) and Romania is waiting for Moldova, but Russia has a plan foe when to give it away. I suppose the First Balkan war will still happen, but now we will have a very easy division of the Ottomans: Serbia gets Bosnia and Kosovo, Bulgaria gets Macedonia and Thrace and now Romania gets Moldova! Greece will annex the lands as in after the Second Balkan war(because Bulgaria was rewarded more this time), but they won’t be satisfied until they achieve the Megalli idea, so they will seek to join the Central powers. Oh and Albania gets independence. WW1 will erupt even earlier and we have even weaker Axis. Ottomans are 50/50 to get involved in the conflict. After the Entante win we get strong Russian empire with Galicia and polish lands from Germany (Poland and Finland get independence, but in Russian sphere). Hungary gets proposed a deal: they will still control southern Slovakia and parts of Transylvania, but join the Russian sphere(they will gladly accept). Bulgaria will get Kavala , but Russia won’t allow them to annex Thessaloniki , this way they won’t hold a grudge and enter the Russo sphere. Czechoslovakia will be like: All of Eastern Europe is part of the Russian alliance and I need protection from Germany - they immediately join it. And so we enter a strange world - Russia already has an expanded Eastern bloc, Germany is a wild card wether to be part of the Allies or Russia, Japan will still invade China, but America wouldn’t have entered ww1, so either they will become super isolationist, or will seek a new conflict to become a world power!
What about an alternate timeline where an alternative Napoleonic Wars leave Austria much stronger, and in the following century, they unite the Balkans all the way to Greece, and then become a much stronger state that doesn’t collapse but instead reforms into a multiethnic democratic state that lasts until the present?
What if the communist government of Granada stayed in power? Would be interesting to see how it played out considering they stayed as part of the commonwealth
I know that you wont see this PH, but i have an amazing scenario to discuss. "What if Austria and the Ottomans collapsed in 1815?" The scenario starts as Austria tries to centralize too much (or some other stupid internal thing) and hungary rebels. Czechs, slovaks, polish, ukrainian, croatian, italian and romanian people rise up soon after as prussia, saxony and bavaria invade the crumbling empire as the german confederation collapses. The ottomans, serbs and romanians invade to conquer and help the relvolts. Romania ad serbia decide that they also want independence and revolt from the ottomans as bulgaria, albania, bosnia and greece revolt, followed by kurdistan. Algeria and tunesia both gain independence as britian invades egypt, libya and israel. Saudi arabia also invades and conquers ottoman territories nearby. Austrian Peacedeal: Hungary gains hunagrian majority areas of transylvania (including szekely land) alond with a thin strip of territory to connect their country.Hungary also gains carpathian ruthenia, southern and eastern slovakia and burgenland. Bavaria gains austria proper and german majority regions of tyrole and adds them to the german confederation. Saxony gains some border territories and prussia gains the rest of silesia along with a little more. Czechia and slovakia gain independence but not united. A new italian state gains italian speaking parts of austria (venice, lombardia, italian speaking tyrole) Croatia gains full independence (all territories in the croatia slavonia crown) and slovenia including istria. Serbia gains the entirety of banat and romania gets the rest of transylvania Ottoman peacedeal: Serbia gains most modern day territories excluding southern kosovo and some other small southern land. Albania gains the rest of kosovo and part of macedonia. Bulgaria gets most of the remaining macedonian land exept some southern land while gaining part of dobruja and thrace. Greece gains the previously mentioned southern macedonian land and all their modern day borders exept the ionian islands (british). Britain gains egypt and libya along with israel while arabia gains ottoman hejaz. Kurdistan gains full independence. THERE'S STILL MORE. Prussia and russia also fall to revolt as poland and ukraine both revolt with russia losing both and prussia falling into chaos as hanover and france invade with guerrilia war setting in. I almost forgot, hanover annexes several small states also including oldenburg. ITS DONE.
A very important point as to why Stalin won't want this to happen, is UN representation for the communist states. Stalin went so far to demand for Ukraine's representation even though it was officially part of the USSR. I don't think the west would easily give in to retaining representation for the annexed nations.
Southern Greece would have already joined the EU and NATO before the collapse of the Balkan Union, in fact it would have probably joined the EU earlier than in our timeline. Greece also has much better odds to integrate the entirety if Cyprus, as the Americans and British would want to prop up Southern Greece against the Balkan Union. Greece is also unlikely to drop its claims on Northern Epirus. In general, I'd expect a better ending territorially for Greece, as the only part of the Western alliance, while a much better economic result is guaranteed for the northern parts of the country
Concepts that could work for this as well: Bulgaria, Greece, and Romania all somehow get into the same royal line (Bulgaria was Saxe-Coburg & Gotha-Kohary, Romania was Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen, and Greece was Glucksberg), and due to a series of events all wind up with the same monarch. While unlikely, it would very much tie together their countries and potentially lead to a union similar to that of the United Kingdom. Hungary, following WWI (assuming Austria-Hungary winds up in the same boat), could adopt the monarch and be accepted into the union, same with Albania. Yugoslavia presents an issue, but one that could be butterflied away partially, maybe a Hohenzollern on the throne of Bulgaria means Prussia backs up Russia at the Treaty of San Marino, giving Bulgaria far larger borders than OTL?
I think the earlier start date for the Balkan federation is more unrealistic but I think they actually have a more chance of staying together then the 1947 start date.
Duke of Serbia, Mihajlo, held talks with all Balkan nationalities about an alliance and federation against the Turks. This scenario would be interesting

Yes a follow up vid would be great
Damn, I'm early. I've been waiting for this scenario for some time
What about an alternate timeline where an alternative Napoleonic Wars leave Austria much stronger, and in the following century, they unite the Balkans all the way to Greece, and then become a much stronger state that doesn’t collapse but instead reforms into a multiethnic democratic state that lasts until the present?
Nice video ❤
What if the communist government of Granada stayed in power? Would be interesting to see how it played out considering they stayed as part of the commonwealth
I know that you wont see this PH, but i have an amazing scenario to discuss.
"What if Austria and the Ottomans collapsed in 1815?"
The scenario starts as Austria tries to centralize too much (or some other stupid internal thing) and hungary rebels.
Austrian Peacedeal:
Hungary gains hunagrian majority areas of transylvania (including szekely land) alond with a thin strip of territory to connect their country.Hungary also gains carpathian ruthenia, southern and eastern slovakia and burgenland.
Bavaria gains austria proper and german majority regions of tyrole and adds them to the german confederation.
Saxony gains some border territories and prussia gains the rest of silesia along with a little more.
Czechia and slovakia gain independence but not united.
A new italian state gains italian speaking parts of austria (venice, lombardia, italian speaking tyrole)
Croatia gains full independence (all territories in the croatia slavonia crown) and slovenia including istria.
Serbia gains the entirety of banat and romania gets the rest of transylvania
Ottoman peacedeal:
Serbia gains most modern day territories excluding southern kosovo and some other small southern land.
ITS DONE.
1:36 what about the Albanians in Macedonia?
A very important point as to why Stalin won't want this to happen, is UN representation for the communist states. Stalin went so far to demand for Ukraine's representation even though it was officially part of the USSR. I don't think the west would easily give in to retaining representation for the annexed nations.
We need many more of these videos
8:21 EVERY MODERN EMPIRE IS SOOOOOOOOOO BACK!!!!!!!!
It isn't, it has been there for years
The Third Balkan War: Electric Boogaloo
Southern Greece would have already joined the EU and NATO before the collapse of the Balkan Union, in fact it would have probably joined the EU earlier than in our timeline. Greece also has much better odds to integrate the entirety if Cyprus, as the Americans and British would want to prop up Southern Greece against the Balkan Union. Greece is also unlikely to drop its claims on Northern Epirus. In general, I'd expect a better ending territorially for Greece, as the only part of the Western alliance, while a much better economic result is guaranteed for the northern parts of the country
I love rhe colour used for macedonia near the end
how many civil wars do you want?
this video: yes!
I love your videos, (Im)possible History❤
Insane scenario
I'd love to see the "what if everything went right" for this hypothetical
In the Greek Civil War, Ephirus was the main hot spot of Greek Communists
How many wars do you want in this region?
The Balkans waiting: Yes.
Love giant blob nation what ifs! Would enjoy to hear those other scenarios.
"Guys we did it, we uni-" *collapses instantly*
Video 32 of asking Possible History for a video about "If Valery Sablin was succesful"
Concepts that could work for this as well:
Bulgaria, Greece, and Romania all somehow get into the same royal line (Bulgaria was Saxe-Coburg & Gotha-Kohary, Romania was Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen, and Greece was Glucksberg), and due to a series of events all wind up with the same monarch.
Mate please do the Spanish Federal Empire Please please please
The thumbnail made the Balkan union look like a mutant monster with many eyes.
I'm actually really interested in both options presented at the end of the video.
Week 2 of asking for every modern empire to return
I think a scenario with the Balkan federation uniting in the 19th century would be really interesting
I think an earlier balkan federation would be very interesting, although how much Russian influence it had could make it go 2 very different ways
Bro we NEED the balkan union in the 19th century PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One could say "By putting everything into one country, everyone gets all their claims and then some".
When does the video come about britain not joining ww1
imagine a civil war in this country
More alternated united balkan scenarios please!
I think the earlier start date for the Balkan federation is more unrealistic but I think they actually have a more chance of staying together then the 1947 start date.
Where Spain possible history at (I won’t stop)
my left ear enjoyed this
If it was created in ‘47 it would have dissolved already by ‘46.
YESSS PLEASE PART2
Possible History became Impossible history
14:13 no? This isn't a real argument. Even Cyprus joined the EU while being divided
Day 1 of asking for What if everything went perfect for Portugal.
Yes
The Pink Map succeeds and Portugal has a massive foothold in Africa
@@isg4 ye maybe but I mean also more ancient no Portuguese succession crisis with the Dutch stealing a large amount of their colonies etc.
Can we also have a "what uf yuguslavia survived" video since we already are in the theme?
Civil war any% speedrun
Can't beat the Balkans in this category. We're number 1
The ottoman unification scenario would be very interesting, please do it if you can
I’m mostly interested in the early starting date scenario but the other concept could be interesting as well.
I would love to see an alternative scenario to this one. It was fun to watch as balkaner.
Day 2 of asking a "Red flood scenario"
I want a second part that doesn't end in amazing action
Duke of Serbia, Mihajlo, held talks with all Balkan nationalities about an alliance and federation against the Turks. This scenario would be interesting
I’d be most interested in seeing the unification immediately post-independence from the Ottomans idea.
Suggestion:
What if the good relations of the USA and Russian empire turned into a full on alliance after the sale of Alaska?
Do a scenario where it survives
