I have 3 fiddles. I plan on making them baranch in the spring. Thank you for your helpful videos.
awesome. thanks!!!!!! they like banana peels in the soil once every couple of months. I had one that was in a big 25 gallon container. Once i got the balance right, and i'd fluff the soil in the same areas so i didn't hit the roots, it got so HUGE. Named it cabbage flaps, put xmas lights on it. Had to abandon because it wouldn't fit into my car when i moved to a different state. that one hurt. loved that plant.
Could I please suggest more stillness on the video. Watching the video moved my focus from actual information to almost being dizzy watching you jumping through out the talk. Little constructive criticism hope received in love. 🤗☺️🙌🏻
You can also try using a turkey baster as well to remove extra water from trays.
Great tip!
I remember you gave that tip in a previous video.
My leafs were dropping. I realized from your video I wasn’t giving it enough water. Now I have a very happy fig. Thank you!
Wahoo!! So delighted to hear that!
Same!!!!
Literally the ONLY video on UA-cam that gave actual advise for care of a fiddle leaf! Thank you 🙏🏻
Morgan Lang I agree!! The other threads have all questions but few to no answers!
I have white powdery substance on my fiddle leaf's leaves and stems.. is it the sap dried or I need to be bothered. However I washed it under the shower and also with the soap solution.
literally? the only one? now you're just being hyperbolic.
I don’t think so. Plenty of other advice even a fiddle leaf fig members fb group I came across with about 5k members apparently. But we all start somewhere usually smaller.
I just purchased my first fig today 😊 then I found this video, it must be my lucky day. You provide lots of information I’m gonna need 👍🏽
Hello World, I love my urban jungle. I'm just another millennial who just loves nature. I love u
Love your video!!! My fiddle has actually never given me any issues, but then again I got mine as a real baby lol it was only a 2 leaf fiddle when I first got it. These are amazing plants
Saved my plant - I wasn’t watering enough because we’re in a drought but thought it was fungal related. Thanks!
Dear god. Thank you. I studied for weeks before getting a fiddle and this REALLY helped bc I was getting brown spots.
So glad it helped!! Good luck with your plant baby!!
hey there, I am also getting some brown spots on every other leaf can you suggest anything?
Love the longer video. I mean really you can send me one of those cuttings any day. Lol
Where did you get your propagation stations? They're amazing.
All my leaves fell off...
Where did you get your background test tube/wood fixtures? I’m in LOVE with them!
I appreciate your videos... the bouncing throws me off at times. Either way your videos help me do more comparison to other videos and sites. Sometimes there is conflicting statements on how to care for this "phinicky" plant. I purchased three in total and got it right the 3rd time. I plan on repotting it today b/c I know it needs some new soil/nutrients. Thank you for being one of the "consistent" people who speak and give concise instructions on plants.
I inherited a dying office plant (due to lockdown it was unwatered for weeks). It’s beautiful but most leaves were dry and brown. I think I did more damage by removing them, only 2 leaves left. I’m trying to bring it back to life, but not sure I’m doing the right thing. This video helped me a lot though! I occasionally used to give it direct sun and I realise that’s not a good idea 🤭
I agree! The hardest thing I have in my house to care for (besides my kids)
Thanks for the video
You're the cutest! I love this video - thanks!
Why did I buy my first fiddle in winter😖😖😞😞!!?? It is struggling... makes me so sad, hopefully Fred lives until Spring 🙏
Thank for the information I just bought one
For how long should I leave the humidifier on for the my fiddle fig? I just bought mine home, one branch and tall. I live in Arizona. Thank you!
I'm really wanting a fiddle leaf, but I'm a little freaked out about getting one (expensive item, finicky plant). The area I would have it in would be exactly the same as you have yours, but withing 5 feet of a vent. Would that still be a good place?
Hi! My new FLF tree top leaves have fallen out. I'd left town for a few days n my flatmate kept "Jacques" out in the sun. The top leaf seemed burnt on the top n the new bud rotted. HELP!!!
Your home literally looks like a botanical garden. Goals
Help my plants has red spots, crispy ends, light green leaves, and dark edges. I've repotted my plants. No leaves have fallen, but it's doesn't look healthy. This is my first fiddle plant
I have bought both FLF & Rubber Tree for three weeks and not sure which one going to die first. Rubber tree looks ok but my FLF looks sick!!
Was given a fiddle that’s prolly close to 30 years old but needs ton of TLC. I have two babies but am no fiddle leaf whisperer by any stretch. Shld I cut it down or love as is. What’s best
What is a good fertilizer for the fiddle?
Can someone please help? I just purchased 2 fiddle leaf figs and they arrived with little red spots on the baby leaves...some of the big leaves have holes in them...I need help asap please. Also should I repot now?
I see you have multiple stems. I’ve grown about 9 leaves in about 7 months. It’s still one thing trunk that’s brown. How long does it take to turn green. Also should I put pebbles at the bottom then putting the soil in? I’d love to email you.
The branch on my fiddle leaf fig is very dark brown, is that normal? What do I do? Just wait?
Would you suggest watering once a week I know you mentioned feel the soil. I did purchase a moisture meter then I’m waiting for from Amazon
My plant has small brown spots under the leave I been using the humidifier every day do you think this can be the cause of the brown spots?
If you don’t have light enough light in your home does artificial light work?
Mine was leggy so I clipped the top off and followed your directions. It sprouted 2 new branches within weeks and looks terrific! Thank you for actual advice that worked! I have the piece I cut rooting in water and once again, your advice was spot on! It's taken a while but roots are growing and they look healthy and strong. I'd love to plant this cutting directly in the pot with the "Mother" plant so they can grow together. Is this advised?
Benedict Miller - I did the same thing with mine (planting the cutting in with the original) and it’s just fine!
What are the long leaf plants in the video?
Strelitzia aka bird of paradise
I'm a new plant mom and started off with a fiddle leaf fig, which initially seemed like a big mistake, but your videos have been so helpful and I am so excited for it to keep growing!
I’d also get a snake plant to help even out the needs! They’re super chill guys that thrive on neglect :)
I just got my plant and it arrived dead..all the leaves are down!!! Help!!
My fiddle has little brown leaves on the branches, they are dried up - do you remove them?
Can i repot my fiddle to a bigger pot, maybe 5-7 inches bigger?
My fiddle Leaf ha black spots on its leaves. How do I care for it?
What NPK ratios do you use for fertilizer?
Beloved what kind of fertilizer do I give my fiddle fig leave?
my fiddle hasnt grown a bit! ugh
I'm hurting my fiddle leaf fig don't look so hot
Hi, my fiddle is 5 feet but its got no branches?!

@@goodhairwoman spring and summer? Or anytime?
thank you so much, so helpful! haven't purchased one yet, but will soon :)
I have a question. When I brought my fiddle home he had been way over watered so I changed his soil but now the leaves have spots that look like freckles. Why is this happening?
Hi there! Went through the same. Do you have a watering routine for her? When your plant can't rely on a safe and consistent rhythm of hydration (let's say every Monday morning) she will drink up fast as much water as available when you do water her) and then her cells get over hydrated and too big and explode creating micro scaring in the leaves. But if you water and mist the air consistently (every the same amount of time) you avoid that cause your pant gets the rhythm and trust there's always enough water. I ve learnt the hard way that its better to water her with just enough water and consistently than abundantly and sparsely. Good luck!
@@victoriayornet7130 since he has been home yes he is on a schedule and the spots have almost completely stopped the most recent leaves to open are glossy and green so I think he is happy now
Awesome! He will be spot-less in no time then.
Where did you get the wooden vase holders behind you?
Hands down best video for this plant.
Your plants are beautiful!
SOMEONE HELP! My fiddle leaf fig has very vibrant green shiny and thriving leaves on top but as you go towards the bottom of the tree the leaves are turning a spotty yellowish green towards the ends of the leaves. Some leaves even have dark brown tips. How can I fix this?!?!
I have a son with breathing problems, I have breathing problems, and COVID is annoying.
I decided a few weeks before Christmas, that I was turning my house into a jungle and my boyfriend bought me your book “Wild at Home”, for Christmas.
Soooo, I immediately needed a fiddle leaf.
I bought a tiny one, and decided it’s name needed to be Ralph.
It’s still acclimating, however, I ordered it online and expected it to be dead. Only lost one leaf so far.
I live on the Eastside of Canada, so we get less light this time of year and as I’m sure you know this can be detrimental to plants, especially FLF’s.
Your pointers will hopefully make this plant thrive and I’m so excited for this journey.
What type of fertilizer do you use for your fiddle leaf fig?
You'll ideally want something with an NPK ratio around 3-1-2. Your local plant shop should be able to point you in the right direction!
Omgoodness!!! Thank you. I feel EXACTLY the way you described in your opening🤦🏽♀️. I’m close to pulling my hair out with these beautiful plants and I’m a very patient spirit. Thank you, thank you for your tips. Enjoy your day.
Fiddles like 360 right indirect light , so a comer with two windows and high ceilings are ideal if you have only one window on one side you may have to get grow lights for the other side .
Or you can rotate it😜
YES , I have a "fiddle leaf fig" (Ficus Lyrata we say in France) since 9 years ago, it's a big tree ... by accident, I demaged a little a branch, and now I understand why he have 3 branches ...! every summer he make 6 leaves, it's so precious; thank you for all advices
my fiddle leaf fig has recently lost FIVE leaves and lots of them were yellow with brown spots!! am i not giving it enough water? i literally water it until it looks like it’s going to over flow though i never see it come out into the drainage tray. maybe it’s the AMOUNT of water i’m giving it? also, i live in an apartment and only have super intense sun from a south facing window. is that bad? help!!!
I just bought a medium size fiddle tree from a farmers market. What’s the first thing I should do? Repot it or just leave it in the rubber pot and stick it in another pot for now? Help!?!? LOL
My experience with 2 new fiddle leaf fits has been that they simply will not survive without lots of light. You must have them right by a window. Because i bought mine for a family room about 10 and 20 ft from a large east facing window, I thought it would be ok. It was not. I now have two plant growing lights on my large fiddles just trying to keep the leaf tips from turning the dreaded light green, then brown. Hopefully will at least keep them alive, even if they decide not to grow much. My strong advice is not to even consider buying these (mine were $80 each!) without planning on placing them right next to a window.
what kind of fertilizer can you suggest that would be okay for all indoor plants???
Quick question. Do you use Aqua Bulbs for your Fiddle Leaves?
great video. thank you.
Hi. I have had my FLF for around 3 years. It's gorgeous. However, recently I have noticed a few leaves that are curling under and looking slightly shriveled. The color throughout is very green and the other leaves look normal. Do you have any idea what causes this and how I can assist my Mr. Fiddler? Thank U!
Others are saying brown spots on fiddle leafs mean overwatering. Are they just crazy?
Your FLF tree is so lovely and I really admire it! Because of its height and weight you must water it indoors. If that is so, how do you get rid of excess water on the bottom of your planter? I would appreciate your advice because I also have a 5 feet FLF tree and just thinking ahead! Aloha 🌴.
My Fig leaves are turning yellow at the bottom what should I do? ( it's one leaf at the bottom) help 😖 I dont want to lose him..
Hi Hilton! I just tried my 2nd attempt with a Fiddle. It was covered in brown/black areas (the leaves). I thought I was watering it too much. I just got a nice Fiddle at Walmart. It has 3 trunks or stem and has tons of green leaves and new growth. I so don't want to kill this one. (BTW the Walmart Fiddle Leaf cost $27. I just took notes on your presentation, and will try for the 2nd time to raise a healthy and happy Fiddle! Thanks so much! Elisha in Colorado
PS. Should I take it out of the plastic container that allows water to flow through it and put in the larger pot that has no hole in the bottom?
I purchased one from home depot two weeks ago and the soil hasn't dried yet but I cant tell if that's odd or not since I lack experience, any guidance would be appreciated.
Thank you for the video. But what do I do with the many brown leaves I have right now around the edges. Shut I partially cut the brown off the leaves or cut the whole leaf off???
Thanks for the video, very helpful. I got a 12" fiddle not long ago and I found the soil is draining a little bit too fast since it has a lot of bark chips in it, also I feel the soil has shrunk and pulled away from the edge of the nursery pot, so there's a gap between the soil and the pot. Should I repot it? And what size should I use? I can see some roots on top of the soil so I think it's a bit root bound...
Hey Hilton, please help me with tips on how to keep my Fig alive through the winter. I got it in May, after getting the watering down, new branches came in and it's grown taller The last new branch produced 1 leaf and 1 bud is still there. Wondering why it won't come through? Is it true that this plant is dormant in winter? Help! Thanks!!!
Even the rubber tree is dying on me but the struggle is real, worrying about them. Ugh
You can do it!!
I went away for 3 days and came back to my top 3 leaves drooping. I read that I might have over watered the tree so I literally haven't watered it in about a month. The soil is STILL moist, my room gets hot. Now the top of my tree folded over. But I have new baby leaves at the base of my tree! I think my roommate secretly watered my tree recently because I just did the soil test and it seems too moist... I feel like I should trim off the top of the tree, but the stem isn't green.
I really what to know the ultimate Fiddle leaf fig potting mixture. I just bought a little one from Costco and wonder on when to repot it. Please advise me on how to prepare a new potting soil. Thank you
One out of three of my new fiddles I got two weeks ago is growing very slowly, tiny leaves with slightly brown tips and edema, one of the new leaves just stopped growing at about an inch for a week and just fell off, a new small one is coming in but very slowly and might have the same problem. The other two are growing large healthy new leaves. Do you know what is wrong? The other leaves on it seem fine and not browning or drooping or dying. If they all the new leaves at the top die is there any way the top will get back to growing healthy larger leaves? What should I do?
What fertilizer do you use? Brand name or details if you have a DIY fertilizer, please. Thank you!
Thank you! I know that fiddle leaf figs also like humidity. I live in a pretty dry area (especially during winter) and bring the plant to the bathroom when I'm planning on a long shower so it can sit in the humidity for a while. Thoughts?
This video has really helped me, great info. What fertilizer is best for flf, how much and how often? With a rubber tree what is the care for it? Thank you for your help, also new subscriber here❤
My mom just gave me her fiddle which she's only had for a few months and it's been dropping leaves. I'm a newb to plant life in general so it's a good chance I might kill this plant but I want to give this thing a try.
Hi, super informative video. I just got a fiddle and am in love. I noticed it doesn't seem like you pick the browned dry bits off of the branches. Is it best to leave these as opposed to picking them off and exposing the green?
Hi and thank you for your videos. I became a more responsible plant parent today. I named all my plants and my fiddle fig tree is called Frank the Tank! I feel more connected to them and I think they are happy that I finally dusted them. Hoping to see more videos from you!
Strong trees when planted at ground level, grow stronger. The foot flare exposed. Trees planted too deep start to develop auxiliary roots at the top of the soil searching for oxygen. These roots sometimes grow in a circular motion and wrap around the trunk cutting circulation.
So I moved from New York to Tennessee my Fiddleleaf egg diet I had to cut all the leaves off in the top I repotted it in tact a soil from Lowells for some reason the soil will not dry out what should I do
Buying a fiddle leaf dig is a great way to spend $100 to watch something die.
Another great video. Thanks so much. You encouraged me so much I just went out and bought one. Thanks.
Thank you brother.
Anyone know the 8of the other plant in this video with the broad leaves?
My tree is drooping but still green but lost some leaves and fell off...need help!
What type of soil??
What do I do with the leaves that have large brown spots, cut them? 🙏🏼
Thank you I just got my first fiddle-leaf fig. This is very good info.
Too complicated....
Hello - I need some assistance with my fiddle leaf...need some assistance
Should I use grow lights on my fiddle leaf?
My fig leaves has started to fall off and I don't get much light only in the morning also what time of the year to propagate
The plant god is here.
You are amazing!
I love your energy. Thanks for the info!
What do you fertilize your fiddle leaf fig with?
