- One of the first Theodorakis concerts after the dictatorship in october 1974 was also filmed by german television. Here are the songs of that broadcast.

MIKIS THEODORAKIS.A big man with an even bigger heart.A credit to motherland Greece and her best ambassador to the world, in the artistic,spiritual and political fields. Greece an already extremely wealthy country in cultural heritage is now even richer because of this gentle, romantic,and noble soul. Mikis is TRUE Greek and therefore a man in the sense it is meant to be.May God grant him many years to come yet but when the sad day comes I am sure he will be placed in the pantheon of heroes.

Parts of this concert were filmed by Nikos Koundouros, and were used for his film "Songs of Fire" (1974). You will find this segment as well (the second part of it). However, the sound is not of the same quality as in this video.

@@e.a.944 As can be seen in the german on-screen translation too, or if you use some online translator for Το σφαγείο, no imagination was needed for this track. It is an uplifting song for political prisoners, Theodorakis included, kept in a torture-and-execution location. They let each other know they are well, holding on anyway, by knocking on walls and such, as they are kept in isolation. The song is also known as Noon/midday, I believe because the day's executions would have happened in the morning, so the survivors can take stock

I went on holiday during the colonels time. We stayed at Glyfada, one day a fleet of cars came flying in to the hotel, these were the Junta.It was not a pretty site.Greece has come through but what a financial state they are in.Could be big trouble ahead. I will say , I have had a few holidays to the Islands & enjoyed every one.Greek music & the history of Greece is fantastic.
