Glossary:
Mouth of Flowers is a translation of the townland Beal na Blath, where Michael Collins was ambushed and shot.
Padraig Pearse was one of the leader's of the 1916 Rising.
GPO was one of the buildings the Volunteers occupied in 1916.
Ashe was a Sinn Fein member who died on hunger strike.
Go raibh maith agat is Irish for 'Thank You'.

I am GREEK my friend but I was born in Istanbul- cihangir , I lived there since I was 5-years old and then we removed to Greece,and I don't speak the Turkish language and I'm very sad about it.
Wow! Discovered this today. I have been attending Theodorakis' first concert in an Athens stadium after those dark years ended at the age of 19 years. I do still remember all those goose bumps felt in that night, although not understanding a single word, because I am a German.

Θεωρώ τον εαυτό μου πολύ τυχερό που ήμουν παρόν. Ο μεγαλειώδης Έλληνας που διαμόρφωσε την Ελληνική Μουσική, μας σύστησε την Ελληνική και Διεθνή ποίηση και μας χάρισε γενναιόδωρα δάκρυα χαράς από ανάταση ψυχής και υπερηφάνειας. I was working in Athens 1974 when Theodorakis arrived in Greece and still so sorry I could not join his concert but seen many after later years.
Τhe composer who wrote the greatest masterpieces for peace and brotherhood of nations.Hymns for humanity, freedom, brotherhood of nations, human rights and love.Ηe composed for the holocaust, for Greek-Turkish friendship, for the conquerors who passed through Greece,hymns against racism and facism,for the Spanish rebels, for the Irish rebels and for every wronged and downtrodden on the planet.Ηe received many awards but surely he deserved the Nobel Peace Prize for his offer to humanity which he never received.
What an uplifting piece of music I did not make the connection until watching a documentary on the 100th years since the death of Michael Collins 22nd August 1922 The Laughing Boy himself, I now understand what and why I'm drawn to Theodorakis, Greece, Ireland and justice, freedom and love 🇬🇷🇮🇪☘️💙💚

I was 11 - 12 years old. My family made me listen Theodorakis.. And an album of Zülfü Livaneli - Theodorakis together. But this video.. It's amazing. It's all about HOPE.
Everytime I listen to this and watch the enthusiasm of the people I cannot help but hold my tears. I am from Turkey and the memories I have from the childhood, the idealism of my parents make me sad when I see this and experience the world we are in now. Where are those people in the video? And how did their lives turn out? I wish I were in the immediate aftermath of this concert shouting out with these beautiful people!

J'ai bien connu Maria en Grèce lorsque j'étais détaché près l'Ambassade de France . Nous avons lié des rapports très amicaux et déjeunions souvent avec des amis au Pirée à l'Annexe de l'Institut Français d'Athènes seule à être dirigée par un ami qui avait la double nationalité .Nous refaisions ensemble la Grèce encore défigurée par la dictature des colonels ...Maria depuis , s'est enrobée mais sa voix demeure admirable et inimitable .Quelle artiste ! Quelle défenseur des valeurs grecques , à commencer en s'exprimant en "Démotico" bien que connaissant parfaitement la "Kathévérousa ". Depuis le temps , ce déliteur de liens amicaux , a distendu nos rapports...Je n'en ai plus de nouvelles . Attristant....Qui pourrait m'en donner ?
