Mikis Theodorakis - Los Libertadores (Canto General Chile, 23.04.1993)

Chilean premiere of the oratorio "Canto General" on April 23, 1993 at the Teatro Monumental in Santiago, twenty years after the originally planned premiere, which did not take place due to the military coup in Chile on September 11, 1973.
Pablo Neruda was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1971 for his poem "Canto General". Mikis Theodorakis composed the first seven parts of Canto General, including Los Libertadores, in France in 1973, after selecting the poems with Pablo Neruda in Paris and Salvador Allende in Santiago.
