"Carry On Wayward Son" and "Dust in the Wind" are absolute MUSTS! They were a unique fresh prog sound in the 70's, and I still love their music and spectacular musicianship all these years later. Glad you found them. Enjoy!
The lower voice that harmonizes is the violin player, Robby Steinhardt. The higher voice is Steve Walsh, the organ player. The song immediately after "Portrait" from the album is amazing and a fan favorite called "Closet Chronicles" which is loosely based on Howard Hughes, the "Elon Musk" of the 1900's who slowly went insane in his Las Vegas penthouse.
Remember the name Lilith Ivey. I just found her, she has 10 subscribers, but man in 2 weeks she dropped 7 songs and they are all above average all around. For her style. I'd put her in the Qveen Herby genre. Beats, flows, switches, unique lyricism, thought provoking messaging. I hope I can get her some eyes from reactors like you. She deserves it. I'd suggest Who am I first. At least that's my personal favorite. She's Salisbury's daughter. Also for anyone who doesn't know Qveen Herby, 5D with the video is an awesome experience. Anyways I hope someone gives her a chance.
How deep do you want to dive into Kansas? On their first album from 1974, I would recommend Death Of Mother Nature Suite or Lonely Wind. The album Song For America from 1975 has Lamplight Symphony or Lonely Street. The biggest problem Kansas had with getting air play on the radio was most of their songs exceeded the 3 -3 1/2 minute limit radio station wanted to allow. Hell some were 10 to 12 minutes long.
Besides "Carry on Wayward Son" and "Dust in the Wind" some excellent songs from their early catalog would be "Icarus Born on Wings of Steel" "The Wall" and "Miracles Out of Nowhere" Thanks for the rescto
One of Kansas' most under-appreciated songs... no commercial air play, but deep in meaning
Here for you.
This is a GREAT one.
Wow! I don't think I've ever seen a reaction to this. What a great song. This whole album is fantastic. This song is about Einstein, by the way.
Nice deep cut from Kansas.

The guys in interviews have expressed that this refers to Albert Einstein...
Funny. Hearing this song when I was younger the first thing that came to my mind was Leonardo Davinci, but Albert Einstein also makes so much sense.
There is a very nice documentary of Kansas. You should check it out.

Good to see you enjoying this! High on my list for sure.

In some bands the deep cuts are as good as the overplayed radio hits!
