"I'm gonna put some lemon on there to protect the fish."
Tuna: "Gee thanks.."
😂
😄
Actual Tuna: "hahaha.... not funny"
Tuna above all other meats, needs to be reassured the most.
😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Seared tuna this way twice already - absolutely gorgeous! Thank you for the recipe. The spices take it to another level!
Chefspeak translation:
"a little drizzle of oil" - half a bottle
"a pinch of salt" - a tablespoon
"a bit of coriander" - a full bunch
I followed your instructions and it was actually really good! I've never cooked a tasty tuna steak (it's always kind of... subpar), but these spices made them taste great. I will definitely be making this again in the future.
Hi there, is possible for you to repeat for me the all spices? I can’t understand the names of those ones.
Thank you 🙏🏻
Coriander seed, salt, fennel seed, pepper and olive oil
I made this for dinner tonight and it is AMAZING!!! I usually eat my tuna in poke or sashimi, or lightly floured, seasoned and cooked well done (the way my grandma used to make it for me when I was little), I have tried many seared recipes and it just tastes so bland to me. Learning how to caramelize it with the rub elevates the flavor element so much! I want to make this every night it’s so easy!
Thanks, I was planning on cooking some tuna steaks I seen at the grocery store but my mom told me to research different ways to cook it and this is perfectly simple, easy, and delicious! Thanks!

I don’t know what my family would do without your videos. I practically learned all my fish skill through your UA-cam videos. Thank you.
Bad learning!
Done this before, it's really good and pretty healthy too.
I drizzled a touch of soy sauce & olive oil mixture to finish it off...trust me its soo juicy...
Delicious looking tuna Jamie! I really enjoy your dishes along with your obvious joy in every meal you prepare...Keep these easy dishes coming, I now love cooking! Very therapeutic! 👍👍👍
"A little drizzle of olive oil" - Covers the steak with a pool of olive oil. Okay.
Cameline oil is nicer.
LoL right. How about the "Little Lemon" to protect,... oh my!
he totally ruined it, fuck ton of oil and lemon
***** how mad are you?
Gon CR just wanted to see your reaction 😂😂
"add some lemon to protect the fish."

This recipe was simply amazing!!!! That seasoning was perfect!!! This recipe made my first time cooking tuna a great success! Hubby & I really enjoyed this meal! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
Love this simple tuna recipe. Appreciate you showing using two types of pan and explaining not over-cooking your tuna. Thanks! I am testing this recipe with my dinner tonight. Though I do not have corriander seed to use. Marinated it with salt, olive oil. lemon, and dill. Thanks!

I'm making this recipe tonight thank you, great video instructions as always!
With that rub it would be AMAZING with a Belgian saison. Lovely tips Jamie. Lovely tips.

In what way am I an idiot? Are you upset you dont know how to cook tuna? Tony Samson
YOU ARE AN IDIOT SANDWICH!
Just made a lovely variation of the pan cooked method using the following-
Salt ground pepper basil cilantro cayenne and garlic for the rub
Then I cooked each side for about 1:30 minutes in avocado oil with a splash of patron tequila
Finally garnished with fresh basil leaves and lemon juice
No cap one of the best pieces of fish I’ve ever tasted
did you put the patron in before the tuna steak? or was it while it was cooking?
@@deliciousdallas8555 guess you’ll never know my g
We need answers bro!😂
Thank you! Made this for dinner and absolutely stunned myself and my man at how well it came out!
I like how chefs say alittle drizzle and it always looks like more than that lol
+Tony Samson which are you?
+Tony Samson Clearly you are both because you insist on using 'thee' and 'thou' even though you have zero idea how

Never usually comment but I've got to say thanks to Jamie I have just cooked the best Tuna steak I've ever tasted!! Thank you
Thank you, Jimmy Oliver for your simplicity cooking. I'm appreciate very lot.
I just made this (Corriander, Fennel, Salt, Pepper) + I added Sesame seeds - it was incredible. Added the olive oil after I took it off to keep it moist + fresh lemon juice - my daughter absolutely loved it - and she 'hates' fish. Thank you for this.
Loved this recipe! The coriander and fennel seed rub added some delicious, delicate flavour to our freshly caught tuna steaks. And your succinct explanation on how to cook the steaks made my first time cooking tuna a resounding success. 👌🏻🙌🏻😄
I made a parsley + capers + lemon zest sauce with olive oil, lemon juice salt and pepper, and I put this sauce over the cooked tuna, and basted it with the extra oil, it was out of this world delicious.

HAHAHHA
I've done your method about three times now and it really is a wonderfully easy and subtly flavorful delight!
+Lindsay Curren stop lying. you don't even know how to boil water.
Simple and absolutely delicious, just the way tuna should be cooked. It's an exceptional fish in the way it is cooked and in it's texture and flavour. Thank you for a lovely and simplistic way to do tuna fish!!
My friends went fishing in the Atlantic and brought back a mess of line-caught tuna, which they shared for me. We're going to enjoy at our Christmas Party next week!
Jamie Ты лучший! спасибо за супер рецепт. Смотрю каждый день!
I have used this rub recipe repeatedly. It is so delicious! My husband is a sportfisherman, so all ours is line caught and fresh fresh fresh.... I grow coriander (cilantro) and fennel in my little backyard. Never thought of using it on the tuna. Thank you @Jamie Oliver
I tried this, and the seasoning was beautiful. Thank you.
Jamie:And that tuna is done
Gordon:IT'S FUCKINK RAWW YOU DONKEY!
Jack:nice
Man, you've done it, i'm about to comment "Nice" hahahahahahahahahaha
@Leaving Blank if u wanted it raw then dont cook it. Not unless if u want to make sushi out of it
@Leaving Blank yikes, also swooosh
And keeping the heart of the tuna steak raw is the best way to don't make it dry as wood. The best cooking level ever.
Jethro, go play in the cement pond.
Dad leaves a tuna steak for me to cook it.. so I ran here to see how I should do it well :D
It turned out good, thank you for the video!

Just what I needed. Always love using fennel, but now the coriander, WOW!
I just tried your recipe, absolutely delicious!!! Thank you!
As amazing as tuna can be!!!! in steaks of any kind, for me, simplicity aways wins!
Rango do Rafa - por Rafael Dantas simple, eh? You're pretty simple if you don't know that this hack is ruining the fish.
@@grantdixson1442 why?
Tried this with your tomato salad, man my taste buds went nuts. Another great recipe, just subscribed today. I hope my english is decent since my native tongue is swedish.
Better than most British, Tim ;)
Your English is better than most people online. It bothers me when you were made to have English classes every year in school, but most people can't even spell with autocorrect.
He says if you want to cook it longer you can. I did and it came out fantastic! Making some tonight, again! Love this recipe Jamie!
Thanks Jamie for sharing your recipes!!
I made these tonight and they turned out perfect! My steaks were thicker, so I adjusted my cooking time. they were very filling, so do you have any advice on what to do with the leftovers?
Yayyyy I'm from the Maldives 😎 we eat tuna here all day errrday

Love your efficient quick n easy presentation J. O.! Thanks!😋⚘
This was super helpful! I used tarragon, salt, soy sauce, and lemon on mine. Cooking time is 👌🏻
Thank you, Jamie. Love your videos! Could you show us how to cook Salmon? I don't like to eat the dark grey matter underneath it. Am I supposed to cut it off before cook it or after I cook it?
Thank you, Jamie! I can't wait to try cooking it that way.
THANK YOU
Omgosh! Yummy! Thanks Jamie.
I'm not a fish person but this was yum as! Neither great in the kitchen but this was simple for the cooking-challenged.
You are the best. Thanks for teaching me how to cook the nice tuna i got from the supermarket today. xx
LOVE tuna, one of our fave types of fish. Listen to the boss man though, try not to overcook it. Really useful vid.

+akira seth Haha!
Is that yoongi?
he found a way to destroy it with oil and lemon too, dont feel bad
I never cared much for fresh tuna until I used this recipe. Now I love it. For me, what's important is going heavy on the spice rub, especially the pepper. That just gives it such a burst of flavors, that meld perfectly with the tuna. And of course, don't overcook. Those complaining that the tuna is raw- if you cook it all the way through, it gets dry and tough. I've eaten it this way dozens of times and never been made ill. Also, what are all the complaints about olive oil for? I find that last splash of olive oil helps marry all the flavors together, and creates a sauce of sorts that is just delicious.
This will be a perfect meal for my new diet plan thanks Jamie plus love the shirt and hair cut
Looking fresh 😊👍🏼
This sounds like the sorted song. You bought Mike's Cd didn't you? :D

Really glad to see awareness for sustainable seafood. Over fishing is a huge threat to the environment so it's really important to get sustainable seafood.
not ok
This looks awesome! I worry about mercury, so I don't eat much tuna anyway, but last night I tried tuna steak for the second time in my life, and I've really been missing out! The first time, it was so overcooked that it was like eating shoe leather, and I guess I just assumed that this was how tuna was when it was cooked. Since then, unless I was having it as Sushi, I've avoided it. Last night, though, I decided to give it another try, and the restaurant I ordered it from cooked it RIGHT! I can see why people really like this, and I might actually try making this for my family some night. Thanks for posting this!
Absolutely fabulous! Perfect! Congratulations!

That high to medium-high heat is major key and no more than a few minutes. Delicious

It sucks that fresh tuna in Canada is like 45$/lbs
+BolFelix In Toronto, I don't think it exists.
+BolFelix it sucks that you are poor.
+fink plaid it sucks that our currency is barely worth anything now and there is like 0 compensation.
I can get a steak of tuna for 6$ in montreal
But don't you guys get awesome salmon? I think that makes up for it a little bit.
i might come back to this video once i've worked up the courage "and cash" to cook swordfish
one fine day Ill come back as well.. one fine day sigh..
Swordfish is quite mild in flavour, its expensive here and you mostly pay for the firm texture. I like to cook it cajun style, with a blackened sear. I do that with tuna sometimes too, but at least tuna also has some flavour of its own.
carpii I thought swordfish tasted a lot like salmon when I had it, just with a more delicate texture (less flaky, more juicy). And I can get it for about $6.99 a pound. I'm just not a huge fan of tuna
Excellent! your great combinations of aroma, delicious recipe that was I expected. Thanks bro
I tried it. It's amazing.. scrumptious 😋
" *ALWAYS* never put oil in a griddle pan"

"ITS RAW!!" - Gordon Ramsay
Best tuna recipe ever! Thanks Ollie!
Great video and an amazing Chef. I learned how to do it and will practice. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I liked the video and subscribed to the channel.
Well... that's a lot of olive oil
In my experience all these nonstick frying pans, even very expensive, are not suitable for grilling. The best choice is cheap cast iron pan.
False economy. Invest and buy good quality pans.
They will last a very long time and will cook food better.
I use 80 year old cast iron, greatest pans and only ones I use!!
In Jamie’s words ‘we ain’t muckin about..’ So don’t, and get that tuna on a bollocking hot cast iron bbq plate. Don’t smoke out your house, do it outside.
go for cheap cast iron pan. Season it and they wont ever stick that much
Feels great watching your videos, yesss that piece of raw tuna was really beautiful
Thank you Jamie, that was delicious! The kids loved it too! :)
The heat was too high, it's supposed to be a smoother gradient of well done on the outside to rare on the inside
+noreaction You're an idiot.
+noreaction no it's not, the perfectly cooked meat (of any kind) would be something with your wanted core temperature in all the meat EXCEPT for the surface, which would have undergone a maillard reaction and become crispy and brown and awesome. Something like this is possible using a sous vide system, liquid nitrogen, and a deep frier. Enjoy well cooked meat ;)
