How to Install LibreOffice in on a Chromebook

- Linux on a Chromebook can be incredibly useful in giving your Chromebook a new range of capabilities! Today I show you how to set up Linux on your Chromebook in 2021, this method recently changed so this is the update.
☀ Linux commands used:
Install older version of LibreOffice: sudo apt install libreoffice
Install Flatpak support: sudo apt install flatpak
Set up Flathub repository: flatpak --user remote-add --if-not-exists flathub flathub.org/re...
Install LibreOffice with Flatpak: flatpak install flathub org.libreoffice.LibreOffice

Thank you so much! I was considering subscribing to MS Office because I want to build a relational database but this is a much better option. My Chromebook is so light and doesn't overheat and the battery lasts forever so I take it with me everywhere.

This and the updated Linux install video were really helpful. Now that ChromeOS supports Linux is there anyway to toggle between them and actually use an Linux distro on a Chromebook, or is this beta support precisely to prevent that?
Also, does this libreoffice app on ChromeOS support the Zotero pluggin? Can't seem to get it to work.

I installed it step by step and followed your instructions to the T, and although all the icons show up in my apps, when i click on any of them, they wont start :( My chromebook is new and has the latest updates so i dont know what is wrong...

I've installed successfully by using the second method(flatpak) but whenever I click on the icons of LibreOffice nothing happens, so I restart the machine and now it just start small round-shaped icon after clicking any of the libre office application and that not moving ahead.
I have a problem with the resolution of the program. Some of the options are cut off and I can't scroll through them. Is it possible to somehow scale the libraoffice to the screen?
I have used LibreOffice for years and I created and saved probably over a hundred documents. This was done using a PC with MS Win 10 (or older). I want to use Google Drive on a Chromebook as a back up for these files. However, I been unable to move the Libre files to my Google drive, I cannot make the Libre instructions for doing this work. I have tried Chrome and Linux without success. I do use two factor authorization on my Google account. If you have a way to move Libre files from a PC to a Google a detailed tutorial will be greatly appreciated.

I am nowhere near your level of computer knowledge, but I did manage to follow your instructions on how to install Libre Office - unless my Chromebook came back with a bunch of "failed to fetch" messages. Help?!
Can you talk also about the stability of the softwares on linux? Not only installing the software. Why I say this is for example Linux on Chrome does not have video hardware acceleration via Va-API so some videoprogram does not run but they installatie without any problem.
I use chromebook for office. I am bit more comfortable with libreoffice. Do I need to follow to gpu acceleration step in your channel for libreoffice ??
No, libreoffice doesn't require the fpu acceleration.

Basically, once you install the Linux subsystem on a Chromebook, several Linux Desktop programs can be installed.
Flatpak installation is not working on my lenovo duet. This is what the terminal says
wrap: Can't mount proc on /newroot/proc: Operation not permitted error: ldconfig failed, exit status 256
However i did install it with the basic command. Thank you!

Hi, I installed Libreoffice on my Chromebook. However when I go to print a document out from it, or share a document, there seems to be no way to connect to my computer. It seems to want to go to an online site, where the program was downloaded from. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

One thing ... After installing was completed, for example LibreOffice Writer don't opens, but it keeps on working to open it (active circle).

Great Video! On a unrelated note I used your tutorial to download steam (it worked with no problems thanks!) but I don't have any storage to have any games. I picked up a 3.0 USB drive with the thought that I could use that as an external storage place, the only problem with that is Steam doesn't recognize it when I try to "add library folder" do you have any idea how I could fix that or is it just not possible with the Chromebook's hardware? Hi interesting video. I see that you also have the Word icon on your Chromebook. Is there a way (legit or through a hack or whatever) to install MS Word on a Chromebook now that Microsoft doesn’t support the Android app on Chromebooks? Would it make do to download and manually install the APK?
I am asking because I’d like to purchase an Acer CB314, they are ridiculously cheap and quite powerful. But the lack of MS Office and of support for older printers in chrome OS makes me hesitate.
The alternative would be an used 2015 MacBook Pro but there is no touchscreen and that would double the price.

I changed the wallpaper on my Chromebook and the size did not fit right so i tried to choose option of stretch , center or center crop as i always used to but i failed to find that option after i updated my device to Version 94.0.4606.124.....please help.
Search for "1366 x 768 wallpaper" or whatever is your screen resolution. Or edit the picture size ua-cam.com/video/SpCEd6V1Wc4/v-deo.html

Hi , thanks for your clear explanations. I have done everything following your second method. That was easy enough. Linux told me LibreOffice was installed . It now sits nicely on my Linux shelf but when I click on it nothing happens??? I was thinking I should uninstall it and install it again but I don't know how to uninstall from the Linux platform. Can you help?

I also tried to solve the problem with nano command but I am receiving the error as " directory usr/..../soffice does not exist.". I am not getting any king of solution from internet.
