I usually preferred to hike and spot, and let someone else drive my rigs. But yeah, good on ya for knowing your limitations. Do you still have the Toyota crawler?
Great content Max. Glad to see the Tacoma back out rocking… Really dig how you guys worked as a real team keeping everyone safe while at the same time learning different off-road techniques during the awesome journey 🤘🏽Toyota Strong
Bro you can’t rock crawl like that with out a locker LOL, I love my Gen3 Tacoma wouldn’t trade it for anything out there . Can’t wait for the next episode! Good work …..
Nate’s comment about the jeep.. “He’s on 40’s and lockers, doesn’t even squeak the tires”.. that’s so cool. Makes me want a big build. Great job Maxx, going up it without a rear locker, no simple task there.

Hey Marlin,, what low crawler transmission will I need for my 1985 Toyota 4runner SR5 5 speed with the 22re and 5:29 gearing? it has the W56 transmission.
I love Max’s freak’s attitude. No EGO. It’s about learning from the best. However I love something he said regarding a hardly equipped taco, test it for its capability. Yes, Tacoma are Japanese generics, but dayum they hanging out there with the jeeps! I have both an XJ and a 3rd gen TRD OR. I love them both for their unique qualities. Thanks for your video and the positive and good spirits.
Damn…. Yeah, I’ve had 4 tacomas and a couple Jeeps now. I am definitely staying with my rubicon. It’s just so easy to have a capable jeep and the fact you can throw 37s on with minimal work and just go anywhere is incredible. Between all the flex, 37s, front/rear locker… no brainer.
Your Tacoma kicks ass when that rear locker works! You might think about investing in an Ox Locker in the rear and maybe an air locker or e-locker in the front. I know you had bad luck with that Eaton e-locker in the SASquatch, but it would probably work a lot better with the Tacoma's auto transmission that doesn't have rollback like the manual does.
Hey there! We saw you were in Ferndale last Thursday. Almost came back into the restaurant to say hi but decided to let you eat in peace. Next time we will. Love your content. Thank you!
I’m a Toyota guy all the way, but Gladiators are pretty impressive. But anything outside of these insane kinds of trails, Toyota seems to fit the bill. I’ll never say never to owning a Jeep at some point though.
Moab is great, cool you made it out there. Were you guys there for Easter Safari? I think the wife and i need to get back out there next year. Its cool when you and Nate hang out. Id totally hand the keys over.
I kinda lost interest in the truck at some point because it kept having issues like this. I thought I had it fixed. I think the truck just needs some proper attention.
It kills it when in 4LO and you roll back and flashes high trans temp, when really its all fine. I checked my temp immediately and was normal. It shuts truck off to prevent binding the drivetrain.
Everyone talked shit when I FJ case/Non ADD CV tube swapped my 3rd gen and asked why I got an SR5 and swapped in a junkyard 8.75 with an eaton e locker instead of just buying an off road/pro. The shit you've had to deal with over the years is exactly why lol. I feel for you, fuck those electronics. I get some warning lights, but now my 4x4 engagement/disengagement is fully manual, and my locker is available any time, no more electronic override shit. I ask for 4x4 or locker, I receive 4x4 and locker 🤣
I have had both a topper and the diamond back. Both have their merits. My stuff is safer in the diamondback which is important to me because I carry around a lot of camera gear, but the topper obviously had more room. So if my primary use for this truck was overlanding and I needed the space, a topper would be the way to go. But as a trail rig and a daily driver the diamondback is perfect
@@Maxx.Powell exactly the response I thought I would get. I remember watching the vid where your window got busted and all your gear stolen and the Jackery getting stolen. Makes sense man. Thanks for the reply! Keep wheelin my man. Love the content for the past 7 years!
This is the problem , the new rig sits unable to move with silly computer codes, the old simple beater buggies crawl right by! Simple is better for serious trails! I bet you miss the black truck in these moments!
No, you just need to get the computer out of the equation. Tacos after '15 are a nightmare due to everything tied to the computer. Make a wiring harness for the elocker, done.
How is there not something more efficient for Right and Left than "driver" and "passenger"? Is Right and Left from the driver's perspective just too hard to remember?
I'm just guessing here, but maybe it's so that the spotter doesn't get confused and start calling out their own (the spotter's) left and right, which would be opposite of the driver's left and right? So using "driver" and "passenger" is to avoid that confusion. Clarity being prioritized over efficiency?
@@aurorastarfury Yeah, sounds like a good idea for new drivers but you'd think "a little to the left" would clearly be the driver's left. But you're probably right - less things for them to remember.
Passenger and driver is always instantly understandable in any orientation to both the driver and the spotter. Any spotter could direct any driver without first establishing who’s right or left it it’s. We use the same terminology in the fire service on scene of car accidents for the same reason.
Would you give Nate the wheel?
I only trust spotters I'd trust w my keys.
After all they are basically driving from outside.

Your response to Nate’s question was top class.
I’d absolutely trust him with the keys

If you don't buy a jeep the get the MarTec SAS kit. That won't fix all.the dash lights but it will go way better with tons locked and flex.
I’ll check that out man!
Delete factory locker and install a new switch, one that's not connected to the car's computer. I'm a jeep guy, sounds possible to me. ;)
