I feel Melissa you are so good with your plants and that is your jam for sure. You could be such an asset to a plant store part time setting them up for less failure. When you acknowledged the clearance area of plants and you mentioned that they were 'sad' plants......over-watered, etc...at that moment I felt that was your true passion. Then you mentioned towards the end you almost bought a 'rescue' plant......my heart smiled :)) What adoration and love that you give to your plants at home.......you could work at a plant store and restore the vitality the plants once knew. This comment actually goes with your last video which I forgot to share my thoughts with so it's a bit late....... Happy New Year, Melissa! Hope this makes sense since I had to write this fast. Much love to you!
That would be great, but one year I worked at a Lowes and wanted to do that…. Nope they don’t have the money to pay somebody to do that. They’ll put you to work doing. The same thing they have everybody else doing. But it would be worth a try.
@@plantsbymelissa so pretty! It's actually a pretty amazing find! Last year that plant was well over $100 for a 6in pot. So $40 for a 10in pot is nothing! Totally get the "no space" issue. I'm hoping Costa will release the regular 6in pot.
I assume it’s a similar situation at Lowe’s, but I work as a contracted merchandiser at Walmart from their supplier greenhouse, and they don’t (technically) allow us to clearance plants ourselves so it’s entirely dependent on the Walmart workers who usually are busy with other things and don’t know anything about plants. Luckily my store has a lady who was tired of me asking her to mark down plants so she lets me do it myself lol. It makes all the difference in the world when plants can be cleared out before they are dead
@@CampingforCool41 ohh that sounds amazing! I've paid full price for plants that are halfway dead and I get them cause I feel bad for the plants :( I'll try to ask for discounts now that I know this, cause I love rescuing but definitely paying full price sometimes is not an optio
Thanks for another awesome video! I want to let you know of my joy when I found at Walmart two days ago Monstera Standleyana Cobra, Chameleon ZZ , hanging basket of Cebu Blue, a completely full pot of the Alocasia Silver Dragon a large hanging basket of Marisela Prayer Plant and they had much more that I didn't buy. They had tons of succulents, large pots of Birkins, calatheas, pothos, and beautiful Orchids! I mean I was in Heaven! Such a HUGE variety for my Walmart which typically doesn't have a great selection! I went into the store to buy clear plastic cups to use for my Lechuza pon! Of course, I had to stop at the garden center, and I was shocked to see so many gorgeous plants! (I'm in Northeast PA)
18:14 actually you wold be surprised how large succulents root ball can get . I grow and sell succulents on a small scale and I’ve noticed arrangements do better in larger glazed pots like that it holds a bit more moisture just make sure the inside isn’t glazed and small terra-cotta pots seem to dry out to fast and stress the plants they send out ugly air roots and wilt . I probably wouldn’t use them for cactus but tender succulents like echeveria sedum and such do well
this was my first time watching your video. thank you for taking the time to take us along! I LOVE lowe's I too go from location to location and try to find something unique. not all lowe's are created equal. lol.. i always stop by the clearance rack too, it breaks my heart to see all those unwanted plants. Usually those racks are all i shop from just to rescue the plants. I agree they are always over watered, thanks again and hoping too see more videos again.
aw welcome!! Thanks for watching!! I love doing these shoppings videos :) I have a playlist saved of all the ones I have done. I try to do them a few times a month. It's so therapeutic to go and browse for plants!
It's so interesting to see what plants are readily available in different parts of the country. I found a big pot of that last aglaonema with the red vein down the middle (red emerald) at my local grocery store for $30 and snagged it. The same plant but half the size was $90 at a fancy nursery in Seattle.
Watching this as I drive to Home Depot for their garden center, I kid you not 😂 I need cactus potting mix and a few new terracotta pots for the new cacti I bought earlier today! I closed on my new home this morning and I will be taking some plants and my cacti with me on Sunday!!
Hey Melissa, that !st plant is a Schismatoglottis Wallichii (from the Greek words 'Schisma' meaning 'Split' and 'Glottis' derived from the Greek word for 'Tongue') And it's been around here in Sydney for some time. Interesting that it's only now becoming available in the States haha. Enjoyed the planty walk through 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I still want the grey ghost A...still never showed up here! I even drove an hour away to the nearest Lowes and nope! No where in sight! I would buy all of them on clearance :(
Tell me you are on the southern east coast without telling me you are on the southern east coast. 1. The crazy weather swings. 2. The beach music playing in the background 😂❤
The red aglaonema near the end of your tour was awesome, I would have been compelled to buy one to add to the 3 aglaonema that I already have. I like aglaonema a lot.
I'm always amazed that you know the names of all the different plants. Our Lowes here in Columbus (GA) doesn't seem to have much yet for plants. I'm hoping soon. I *need* a Calathea Medallion in my life. ☺ Thanks for another great video. It was fun to watch.
I would have bought that alocasia ivory coast. It's not one I have. But I love the clearance section at lowes. Sometimes there are some amazing finds. I always figure if I can't save the plant then at least I got a cute pot out of it. I'm currently trying to salvage a Freddie and a njoy. Not looking good but again cute pots and a macrame cord. But not bad for $6! Plus it feeds the need to buy for cheap.
I cant wait to get to my Lowes nearby and search for the curtisii !! I look forward to your videos at TJ Maxx /Marshalls for planty things.. i have a gift card i'm holding on to until then !! xo Happy Healthy Prosperous New Year to you and those you Love xo
Happy New year! 🥳🥳 I just saw the Aglo the one you said was Grey Ghost, it’s so pretty the pattern on the leaves is amazing. Thanks for taking us along. 💚
That new plant is a trending tropical but the big size.....can't remember the name....I think I will get one in the regular size for $20 if they ever show up here...nice that they are showing up :)...they have a really pretty new pothos coming out too....lemon lime I think? It is super bright :)
Don’t forget to put the “wick” back in the water tray! They actually do live longer and better if they are use to the wick. Thanks for the video! I live shopping with you guys! It saves me money! #WindowShopping
Happy New Year, Melissa! 💕 Hope you and your family had a lovely break! Love these type of videos - we don't get nearly as many plant varieties in big box stores here in the UK... 😞
Here in SG, we do get them a lot. BUT I have been traumatised enough. Two times I bought from different stores, both times, they contain sooooo much pests. From mealies, to root mealies, spider mites, thrips. -_-. That was it. Now I buy from nurseries whose owners are hardcore plant lovers, and home sellers.

Yes! Melissa would be a HUGE asset to a plant store and to newbies like me.
Aw thank you so much!! I think it would be fun to work in a plant shop I wouldn’t be able to stop playing with all the plants haha. I love helping :)

3:40 This plant is a Schismatoglottis wallichii! Super easy plant. Lets to you know when it's thirsty because it's dramatic AF. 🤣🤣🤣

Aw yay!! That makes me so happy!! Thanks for taking them home! 🥰
Nice video! I love plant shopping videos!
Thank you!! Can’t wait to fill another one :)

Schismatoglottis. I forget the variety.
Bird of paradise is the most beautiful plant and that was a good price for that size.
I think so too! I miss mine that I had. I can’t wait to get another one

Ah yes the lemon meringue :) it looks like a global green or emerald pothos. Someone mentioned the name in another comment it was so beautiful!
I am so jealous of the Lowe’s in the US! They’re pretty pathetic where I live in Canada 😢

When you picked up the global green, you mentioned you thought it was “the new one”. Which new one are you thinking of?🙏🏻🧐
Costa has a new one called a lemon meringue pothos. It looks so similar :)
Woo hoo!
Isn't it Calathea Shine star on your thumbnail? My wishlist too 🍰😘
Oh I’m not too sure, it wasn’t labeled I’ll have to look that one up :)
Love the vlog

That's A LOT of plants. Is Lowes a plant store? Or like just a store that sells everything?
It’s a hardware store but they have a garden section too with lots of outdoor and indoor houseplants ☺️
