Hi Michael, did you have any difficulties with regards to restrictions both entering Portugal and the Solana event for those unvaccinated? And thanks you so much for your videos, I think I may be making a move soon away from UK! hope you have a nice time there!
Love to see the Portugal content Michael. We moved here in April for crypto reasons and like you said, I have met a bunch of crypto punks that have moved here, only this year, for the same reason. Best life decision we have made.
@@OffshoreCitizen No we are actually in Lagos in the Algarve but have Lisbon about 3 hours from us for the important events . Plenty of crypto people here though and meet up´s
Non habitual residency, we have videos explaining this one in more details. In short, as a foreigner you could get 10 year tax exemption if you qualify.
More a tax reduction, not complete exemption. Typically 10% flat tax on overseas income. The concern is that the iron boot of the EU will coerce poorer Euro states like Port to comply with social and economic mandates to keep them subservient to Brussels.
I would love to know how many miles u do per year lol. Dubai in autumn & Portugal in winter smart. What is your most popular EU citizenship program? The UK & Ireland one you have to move here then stay 5 years.
Sure! "Recibos verdes" still exist. They are done online now. 🙂 And, BTW, they'll keep existing for the next few decades at least… as many, many people here work as freelancers with them.
Interesting experience opening a bank account in Portugal. Set aside a few hours and be prepared to electronically sign about 20 times. I have no idea what I was signing - even my cautious wife was just saying in the end... don't ask just sign so we can get outta here! I probably signed up for a few mortgages??
As a Portuguese I'm grateful for your video. If you visit Cascais, /Sintra I can offer a tour 😂 for the average Joe, taxes are high. Be careful because next years can be rough for the Portuguese government budget, and families. The current tax situation can change
so as a canadian with kyc crypto accounts set up here in canada, how would i make use of the crypto perks??? 1. get portuguese citizenship 2. get portugese bank account 3. set up new exchange accounts with portugese bank account 4. transer my assets and sell at my leisure tax free? is this all that needs to be done? or do i have to do something else?
Yep! We’re sitting on the silver coast watching surfers and enjoying Sagres and the warm sunshine. NIF next week and bank account the following week… on our way!
Welcome to Portugal, I’ve been following your comments on Michael’s channel for a while but I might’ve missed quiet a few . If I remember right at the beginning , you were researching Portugal , so I’m interested to know what finally made you decide on retirement in Portugal 🇵🇹.? I’m still undecided between Malta and Portugal
@@hellophoenix Portugal… better tax treatment… bigger country… good communication links… better internal infrastructure… faster Internet… many places within Portugal to visit. Malta seems VERY small and claustrophobic. Been to Malta many times - nice for short holidays, not for a long stay.
We're going there in the spring to do an exploratory trip. Thinking though of the Algarve for the Warner weather. Glad you did this video. It just further confirms my feelings about possibly retiring there. Great job, as usual.
@@OffshoreCitizen Thanks Michael! the country is beautiful, today we have mid-term congress elections. Taxes too high, inflation is very high, and insecurity is all over the place. People are deciding to emigrate to other countries. Having a business is very challenging due to inflación and taxes. We are fortunate to “live in a bubble” but is good for few people.
At first I thought this was Bulgaria 😂 I’d like to see more vlogs on this channel, it would be quite interesting since you travel a lot! I agree with everything you said about Portugal 🇵🇹. Hope they don’t mess it up in the future.
What are the vax requirements to get into the country. Last I heard Portugal was one of the few countries that required a test prior to entry regardless of vax status. Still true?
@@tinglestingles interesting. The TAP website does not list Canada or US as one of the countries with an equivalent vax certificate, suggesting you need a covid test to enter the country. Very confusing.
I would suggest you to contact TAP because their website and service is not that good. Also bear in mind that TAP is nationalized by the government and is in debt to its customers, about 600millions in tickets. Watch out.

Would NHR residency (spending physically 2weeks/year in portugal and not tax resident eslwhere) with US LLC with stock trading capital gains work for zero tax?
If they remove advantadges like the Crypto Tax and others... then people will leave to another country, very easy. This means that a lot of capital will leave Portugal.
"Quite a open culture". 500 years of globalization that has started in this country 😉 Not a big city? 500 thousand it is in the center, the metropolitan area has more than 2 milions...
Some in the US government want to make the "Financial Action Task Force travel rule" more rigorous, and they want other countries to go along. It won't surprise me if Portugal comes under pressure (at some point) to take away some of the freedoms that crypto investors have come to enjoy.
Yeah my friend you are right, we have an open mind and we accept gays very well here. But only if they behave like normal people. Here you do not see anyone showing off their sexual preferences like in other Countries and that's why we have mutual respect for each other! To be honest I'm sick of Portugal. Every person is seemingly moving there or vlogging about there. It's just bizarre. So many better places to be. Portugal is also moving in a socialist direction. Rules can, and have been changed. Re crypto tax, that is the case for now. And the last two words in that sentence are key. As you said, it's more or less by accident.
Please enlighten us. Not many countries offer a better path to EU citizenship or offer as many tax benefits along with a relatively low COL. It may seem annoying, but if you want to see folks move to other countries, those countries have to provide the incentives first.
*To be honest I'm sick of Portugal.
